TheMission of Aging in Place Real Estate & Consultingis to help the mature homeowner live independently in their present home or potential home regardless of injury, illness, or age-related changes.  By integrating the best practice policies of Occupational Therapy and Real Estate, Aging in Place Real Estate & Consultingwill provide a service continuum that will increase the quality of life of its Clients, one home at a time. Mission Statement
First Assess the Person to determine their performance capacity. Second  Assess the Environment to identify features and characteristics of a home that affect independent living skills. Third  Evaluate the Client functioning in their environment to determine Participation. The Performance-Environment- Participation Evaluation Process
Performance is affected by an individual’s  Cognition ROM Strength Balance Sensation Coordination Pain Management Performance
The Home Environment is characterized by it’s Location Entrances Size of rooms  Width of hallways  Stairs Number of levels Type of bathing facility Access to laundry facility Location of storage Environment
Participation is the interaction of the person and their environment.   This step is crucial.   By completing a performance-based evaluation, the OT can accurately identify what specifically is the barrier to function for this person in this environment.   And Barrier identification is key. Participation
Once the barrier is accurately identified, then Aging in Place can move forward with making recommendations to reduce or eliminate the barrier.  This might include adaptive equipment, home modification, training in new and different techniques, recognizing the need for caregiver assistance or relocating to a different property all together that supports independent living.   And that is not code for nursing home.   Barrier reduction
Because nursing homes have barriers, too.   I wish I could promise that by partnering with Aging in Place nursing home care would never have to become an option.  But I can’t.   But what I can promise, is that you have the will, I’ll search for the way to support you staying in your own home for as long as possible.  And when I say support, I hope you hear the word Change.   A hallmark of successful aging is the ability to adapt.
Lawton’s theory of environmental press and performance gives the professional OT a goal of achieving participation that falls into an “optimal” range.  When the person and environment match , safe and independent completion of activities of daily living and home management can be expected.  The status quo can continue. But if the Person has had health conditions that impair strength, balance or pain, then the basement steps may now be a problem.   Hence, something has to change. Getting a Good Fit

  The Art & Science of Independent Living Supporting independent living at every age, at every stage Aging in Place Real Estate LIKES Independent Living Home Safe Home How many times did we tell our kids to be careful? Independence.  It’s worth fighting for! Don’t Move, Be Happy The anti-agent Modify or Move…That is the question. Don’t sell your home until you’re damn good and ready The Aging process doesn’t come with directions and timelines.  Let Aging in Place Real Estate take out some of the guesswork. First and foremost, you can expect a Real Estate experience that is Client-Centered. An initial consultation may take 2-3 hours, depending upon the customer’s wants and needs. We need to know you.  What motivates you? What frightens you? What overwhelms you? What irritates you? If buying a home is in your future then let’s start talking about what where you want to live, your plans for the future, activities that affect your daily routine, how physically active are you and how much maintenance do you want to assume. If selling is in your future, then let’s take a look at the market and see what the CMA Comparable market analysis tells us.  This will show what other homes in the area have sold for in the last six months, and generally reflect the value you might expect a future buyer to see in yours.  If wanting to stay put is your heart’s desire, then we should really talk.  Aging in Place wants to partner with you to supports safe and independent living and be the real estate agent you call when it’s time to transition. What can I expect?
The value of partnering with Aging in Place Real Estate is that the customer will know how sincerely invested Aging in Place is in them long before it’s time to sell their house.  Keeping older adults living safely and independently in their own homes is the company’s calling.   The best indicator of future success is past performance
