2. Knowledge before research
Before I began researching my knowledge on internships and apprenticeships
were minimal. I thought an apprenticeships would lead to a guaranteed job which
is not the case it just improves your chances. Before my research I knew
apprenticeships payed and internship didn’t so I began researching the pros and
cons of internships. I found out from internships you gain lots of hands on
experience as well as multiple opportunities to network which is why people do
them despite being payed.

3. How i’m going gain more knowledge
To gain more knowledge i’m going to research the difference between
apprenticeships and internships. This will allow me to see an overview of what each
course entails. As well as that researching the pros and cons of the two courses will
better my understanding of what I would like and dislike. Finally to gain insight on
these courses I will pick the subject for example drama then research what drama
internships are like compared to a drama apprenticeship. This process will definitely
better my understanding which will help me decide if these options are something I
want to explore when I leave school.

9. Potential apprenticeships
I looked into apprenticeships for media, the ones available are: advertising and digital
marketing, broadcast media production and editing- television and radio, film production
journalism and publishing. Out of the these topics advertising and digital marketing interest
me the most so I began exploring what this course entails. The marketing apprenticeships
available are: digital marketing ,social media and public relations. These courses are offered
at four different levels: intermediate, advanced, higher and degree. Companies that offer
media apprenticeships are: Vodafone, Sky, BT, Microsoft and ITV.

10. What do media apprenticeships involve
● market research - collecting and analysing data, using tools such as
Google AdWords and Analytics
● technical search engine optimisation (SEO) training
● developing communications with clients and customers through a
range of channels, including email, press, radio and TV
● utilising social media from a business perspective
● planning and budgeting for campaigns.

11. How it will help my acting career
This will elevate my acting career as working alongside talent agents will
give me an insight as to what they look for when casting talent. Knowing
this information will massively help me as then I can apply what their
looking for to my own acting which will increase my chances of getting
casted.

12. Acting/theatre apprenticeship
An acting apprenticeship is also something I want to explore so I began
researching for theatre apprenticeships in the UK. Theatre companies such as the
royal opera house, national theatre and the london theatre offer apprenticeships
for young people. Out of the three theatre options I looked into the royal opera
house as it looked the most appealing. This course consists of a 40-42.5hrs per
week with national living wage pay. After the second year this fee increases by 2.5
percent. The specific course modules won’t be advertised until may.

13. Presenter internship
I began looking into presenter internships and apprenticeships. I found a big agency
called curtis and brown offering 3-6 month internships. The internships they offer are
for actors, presenters and musical theatre students. To apply you must be 18 years
or older with the appropriate A levels and GCSE results. These internships offer
hands on experience with industry professionals. For this apprenticeship you are
paid the national living wage which is £21,158pa. The hours for this internship is
9am-6pm with an hour lunch break. This is definitely something I want to further
explore as I know id enjoy this internship which could potentially lead to an agent or
work with this reputable company.

14. Final summary
Overall i’ve found lots of information about apprenticeships and internships
as before researching I didn’t know much about either of the courses.
Although I don’t want to do either it’s given me a clearer picture as to the
next steps I take in order to further progress in my acting career. If I change
my mind one day I will definitely explore presenter apprenticeships and
internships as I would really enjoy both radio and TV presenting. An
apprenticeship is a really good way to get a foot in the industry
