4. INKOMPASS international internship program is a unique 2-cycle internship
program at Philip Morris International (PMI) which enables you to DISCOVER
yourself through challenges and cultural diversity. You will be given the
opportunity to:
- Work on REAL BUSINESS PROJECTS that will help you develop portable skills
- Build an INTERNATIONAL NETWORK
- Receive personalized feedback and COACHING
If you perform well and meet all criteria during the internship program, you
may receive a job offer with PMI even before you graduate!

5. We look for candidates who are:
- Able to work in Japanese and English
- University students (3rd year student of Bachelor program or 1st year
student of Master’s program)

6. HOW DO I APPLY?
The application steps are the following:

• A HireVue AI system video interview
• A online web test that will assess your analytical, problem solving, logical
thinking skills.

7. 3. Participate in a virtual on-ground assessment (VOGA), the final stage of the
recruitment process. During the VOGA, we will meet online and get to learn
more about each other. You will have a chance to showcase your skills in
business cases and team activities, network with other applicants, and meet
current Philip Morris International employees. If you meet the criteria, we
may invite you to be an INKOMPASS intern!

Why does INKOMPASS offer a 2-cycle approach?
INKOMPASS offers a 2-cycle approach because it is an experiential job interview,
giving you a better chance to showcase your skills and abilities and giving us a
better chance to get to know you. You can also experience 2 completely
different areas.
Across the two cycles, you will work on real business projects that will allow you
to discover our business challenges, opportunities, processes and systems.
The 1st cycle will give you the opportunity to discover several aspects of our
company (i.e., operations, people and culture) through projects that allow you
to interact with people from different areas.
The 2nd cycle will give you the opportunity to experience a different
department or functional area.

12. What happens if I don’t want to commit myself to participate in the
2nd cycle?
We strive to ensure you have a great 1st cycle experience so that you
eagerly look forward to get selected for the 2nd cycle.
However, in case you do not want to continue, there is no obligation for
you to do so.

13. What happens between the 2 cycles of internship?
Staying in touch with you throughout your internship journey is very important
to us. You will hear from us between the 2 cycles of your internship, through
events, engagement activities, etc.

14. I reside outside of the country where I would like to do my internship,
can I still apply to the program?
If you apply and are accepted to an INKOMPASS paid international internship in
a country that is not your primary country of residence, you will be responsible
for covering any expenses that may arise in order for you to be present and
available in the internship country for the duration of each cycle.
If, on the other hand, we send you to another country for business purposes,
then all related expenses will be covered.

15. What is the selection process like?
The application steps are the following:

16. What is the HireVue video interview?
HireVue video interview is a digital interview that allows you to introduce
yourself and your capabilities to us. HireVue enables you to complete your
interview in your own time from the comfort of your own space. During the
interview, we will be speaking you a few questions on the competencies that
you will have to demonstrate to become successful intern at Philip Morris
International.

17. What is the support system in case of connectivity or other technical
issues with the HireVue applications?
In case of any technical issues with the application or connectivity please
address your questions here. HireVue (zendesk.com). The help desk will

18. Can I record the interview more than once?
If you are not satisfied with your answer, you have the option to re-record it.
If you choose that option, remember your second recording will be the final
and you will have to submit it.

19. How the HireVue technology works?
Once your interview is completed, the system will translate your recording
into text by analyzing your response. We do not consider other factors such
as facial features, but the scoring is solely done on things you say.

20. If I cannot attend the virtual on-ground assessment, are there any
other dates available?
No, unfortunately participation in virtual on-ground assessment center on is
the mandatory selection process for INKOMPASS program.

21. Will I receive feedback if I don’t get selected? When?
Yes. You will be informed of your application progress during each step of
the process by your registered email. Whether or not you meet the
criteria to progress on to the next application step, you will receive an
email confirmation regarding your status. If you do not hear back from us
within 2-3 weeks of completing an application step, please contact us at

22. When will the internship start and how long will it last? Is there any
flexibility with these dates?
The internship will be 4 weeks in August. There are no flexibility with dates,
but we try to match universities' schedules as much as possible.

23. What are the normal work hours?
9:00 to 18:00 from Monday to Thursday. 9:00 to 12:30 on Friday.

24. Is the INKOMPASS internship paid? What contractual conditions
will I be under as an intern?
Yes, the INKOMPASS internship offers a very competitive salary.

25. Will I be assigned a group project or an individual project?
Depending on the project scope and expected deliverables, projects may
require individual or group work. In any case, you can be sure that all
projects will be meaningful, challenging, and give you the opportunity to
showcase and further develop your skills, whether it is in an individual or
group setting.

26. What type of guidance and support can I expect to receive
throughout my program, to help develop me professionally?
Every INKOMPASS intern will receive day-to-day guidance and support from
their COACH, who has the same function as a supervisor. He / she will
introduce you to your project, clarify expectations, guide you on a day-to-
day basis, and provide you with feedback.
In addition, you will also receive support from your BUDDY, who will help
you answer general questions and network with different people and
departments in the company.

27. What is the criteria for advancement to the 2nd cycle of the
program? How will I be assessed?
During the 1st cycle, you will complete a project with a definite scope and
deliverables, based on which you will be assessed. We believe that both
WHAT you achieve / deliver and HOW you do so is important. This is why
you will also be assessed on the behaviors you display which should be
aligned with our company’s work ethics.
Throughout the experience you will receive feedback and guidance so that
you understand what is expected of you. The final assessment will take place
at the end of each internship cycle.

28. Will I receive feedback regarding my performance? When?
Your COACH and P&C (HR) will provide you with feedback throughout your
INKOMPASS experience.

29. Can I use my internship project experience as a university
assignment and / or as credits for graduation?
Yes, you can use our internship project as a university assignment or your
credits for graduation. Please provide us your university's guideline before
starting program.

30. Will I receive a job offer with Philip Morris International when I
complete my internship?
If you successfully complete both cycles of the INKOMPASS internship and
meet the required performance standards, you may receive a job offer at
