A comparative study of PSO, GSA and SCA in parameters optimization of surface...journalBEEI
The selection of parameters in grinding process remains as a crucial role to guarantee that the machined product quality is at the minimum production cost and maximum production rate. Therefore, it is required to utilize more advance and effective optimization methods to obtain the optimum parameters and resulting an improvement on the grinding performance. In this paper, three optimization algorithms which are particle swarm optimization (PSO), gravitational search, and Sine Cosine algorithms are employed to optimize the grinding process parameters that may either reduce the cost, increase the productivity or obtain the finest surface finish and resulting a higher grinding process performance. The efficiency of the three algorithms are evaluated and comparedwith previous results obtained by other optimization methods on similar studies. The experimental results showed that PSO algorithm achieves better optimization performance in the aspect of convergence rate and accuracy of best solution.Whereas in the comparison of results of previous researchers, the obtained result of PSO proves that it is efficient in solving the complicated mathematical model of surface grinding process with different conditions.

Estimation Of Optimum Dilution In The GMAW Process Using Integrated ANN-SAIJRES Journal
To improve the corrosion resistant properties of carbon steel usually cladding process is used. It is a process of depositing a thick layer of corrosion resistant material over carbon steel plate. Most of the engineering applications require high strength and corrosion resistant materials for long term reliability and performance. By cladding these properties can be achieved with minimum cost. The main problem faced on cladding is the selection of optimum combinations of process parameters for achieving quality clad and hence good clad bead geometry. This paper highlights an experimental study to optimize various input process parameters (welding current, welding speed, gun angle, contact tip to work distance and pinch) to get optimum dilution in stainless steel cladding of low carbon structural steel plates using Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). Experiments were conducted based on central composite rotatable design with full replication technique and mathematical models were developed using multiple regression method. The developed models have been checked for adequacy and significance. In this study, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Simulated Annealing Algorithm (SA) techniques were integrated labels as integrated ANN-SA to estimate optimal process parameters in GMAW to get optimum dilution.
Optimization of Cutting Parameters Using Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swar...IJMER
In machining operations, achieving desired surface quality features of the machined product,
is really a challenging job. Because, these quality features are highly correlated and are expected to be
influenced directly or indirectly by the direct effect of process parameters or their interactive effects
(i.e. on process environment). However, the extents of significant influence of the process parameters
are different for different responses. Therefore, optimization of surface roughness is a multi-factor,
multi-objective optimization problem. Therefore, to solve such a multi-objective optimization problem, it
is felt necessary to identify the optimal parametric combination, following which all objectives could be
optimized simultaneously. In this context, it is essential to convert all the objective functions into an
equivalent single objective function or overall representative function to meet desired multi-quality
features of the machined surface. The required multi-quality features may or may not be conflicting in
nature. The representative single objective function, thus calculated, would be optimized finally. In the
present work, Design of Experiment (DOE) with Design of Expect software, Mini Tab & optimized
using genetic algorithm by MAT Lab and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) by “C” program in
straight turning operation. Collected data related to surface roughness have been utilized for
optimization. Due to complexity of this machining optimization problem, a genetic algorithm (GA) and
Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) are applied to resolve the problem and the results obtained from
GA and PSO are compared

The injection molding process itself is a complex mix of time, temperature and pressure
variables with a multitude of manufacturing defects that can occur without the right combination of
processing parameters and design components. Determining optimal initial process parameter
settings critically influences productivity, quality, and costs of production in the plastic injection
molding (PIM) industry. Up to now, most production engineers have used trial-and-error method to
determine initial settings for a number of parameters, including melt temperature, injection pressure,
injection velocity, injection time, packing pressure, packing time, cooling temperature, and cooling
time which depend on the engineers’ experience and intuition to determine initial process parameter
settings. However, the trial-and-error process is costly and time consuming.
Parametric optimization of centrifugal magnetic force assisted abrasive flow ...eSAT Journals
Abstract: The traditional Taguchi method is widely used for optimizing the process parameters of a single response problem. Optimization of a single response results the non-optimum values for remaining. But, the performance of a machining process is often evaluated by several quality responses. Under such circumstances, multi-characteristics response optimization may be the solution to optimize multi-responses simultaneously. In the present work, a multi-characteristics response optimization model based on Taguchi and Utility concept is used to optimize process parameters, such as magnetic flux, rotational speed of CFG rod, shape of CFG rod, number of cycles, abrasive-to-iron ratio and abrasive particle size on multiple performance characteristics, namely, surface roughness (Ra) and material removal (MR) during polishing of hollow cylindrical brass work-pieces with Centrifugal-Magnetic Force Assisted Abrasive Flow Machining (CMA2FM) Process. Taguchi’s L27 orthogonal array (OA) is selected for experimental planning. The ANOVA and F-tests are used to analyze the results. It is found that all the input parameters significantly improve the Utility function comprising of two quality characteristics (MR and %ΔRa). Further, the confirmation tests are conducted and the results are found to be within the confidence interval.

Tech transfer making it as a risk free approach in pharmaceutical and biotech iniaemedu
Tech transfer is a common methodology for transferring new products or an existing
commercial product to R&D or to another manufacturing site. Transferring product knowledge to the
manufacturing floor is crucial and it is an ongoing approach in the pharmaceutical and biotech
industry. Without adopting this process, no company can manufacture its niche products, let alone
market them. Technology transfer is a complicated, process because it is highly cross functional. Due
to its cross functional dependence, these projects face numerous risks and failure. If anidea cannot be
successfully brought out in the form of a product, there is no customer benefit, or satisfaction.
Moreover, high emphasis is in sustaining manufacturing with highest quality each and every time. It
is vital that tech transfer projects need to be executed flawlessly. To accomplish this goal, risk
management is crucial and project team needs to use the risk management approach seamlessly.
