This document discusses the application of nanotechnology for enhancing oil recovery through the use of nanofluids or smart fluids. It provides background on oil reserves and recovery rates. Nanofluids are described as a new class of fluids containing stable suspensions of nanostructures that can enhance properties like thermal conductivity. The document outlines several potential applications of nanofluids in the oil and gas industry, such as improved sensors, coatings, and catalysts. It also discusses how nanofluids exhibit improved rheological properties and can increase oil recovery rates in both homogeneous and heterogeneous reservoirs compared to other recovery methods. Further research is needed to develop new nanomaterials and solutions to recover more oil economically.
There are three primary techniques of EOR: gas injection, thermal injection, and chemical injection. Gas injection, which uses gases such as natural gas, nitrogen, or carbon dioxide (CO2), accounts for nearly 60 percent of EOR production in the United States. Thermal injection, which involves the introduction of heat, accounts for 40 percent of EOR production in the United States, with most of it occurring in California. Chemical injection, which can involve the use of long-chained molecules called polymers to increase the effectiveness of waterfloods, accounts for about one percent of EOR production in the United States. In 2013, a technique called Plasma-Pulse technology was introduced into the United States from Russia. This technique can result in another 50 percent of improvement in existing well production.

nFluids Inc. is an innovative Nanotechnology company that designs and manufactures nanoparticle additives for a variety of industrial challenges. The company was founded on cutting edge research and its technology is currently in the process of being fully commercialized.
nFluids design and manufacture nanoparticles using a bottom up approach which gives us fine control over the size, shape and functionality of the end product, offering a bespoke service to give our clients the products they need. nFluids technology is a true platform technology in that there are multiple applications, including Medical, Pharmaceutical, Construction and Oil & Gas eg.,
- Drilling
- Fracturing
- Lubrication
- Cementing
- Corrosion control
- Enhanced Oil Recovery
- Conformance control
- Oil & Water separation
- Marine & Land spillage
nFluids first commercial product (nForcer) is a nanoparticle drilling fluid additive which is compatible with all drilling fluid types, bringing the end user multiple benefits in one product with the potential to replace other products or form the backbone of the next generation in drilling fluids. In this respect nForcer is truly a disruptive technology. Key benefits are as follows
(1) Up to 70% reduction in drilling fluid loss during drilling: reducing the cost to the O&G operator
(2) Up to 60% increase in Well bore strengthening: weak wellbores lengthen the drilling process and add additional rig time cost, but the implications for re-fracturing, well integrity and well design are enormous.
(3) Up to 50% increase in Lubricity: allowing the operator to drill faster, reduce rig time cost whilst opening up other lubricity applications
(4) 15-20 % Less Oil on cuttings: reducing the environmental impact, oil can be recycled lowering the disposal costs
nFluids has successfully conducted 9 field pilots in Alberta and has signed a JDA with a global drilling fluid company.

The steady laminar two dimensional stagnation point flow of an incompressible electrically conducting magneto-micropolar fluid over a permeable stretching surface with heat source/sink and viscous dissipation in the presence of mass transfer and chemical reaction has been studied. Using the similarity transformations, the governing equations have been transformed into a system of ordinary differential equations. These differential equations are highly nonlinear which cannot be solved analytically. Therefore, forth order Runge-Kutta method along with shooting technique has been used for solving it. Numerical results are obtained for the skin-friction coefficient, the local Nusselt number and Sherwood number as well as the velocity, temperature and concentration profiles for different values of the governing parameters, namely, velocity ratio parameter, boundary parameter, material parameter, magnetic parameter, Prandtl number, Eckert number, heat source/sink parameter, Schmidt number and chemical reaction parameter.

This paper reports on the Waste transformer oil fuel is blended with diesel fuel in different percentage and the effects of their operational characteristics and performance and emission characteristics of the DI diesel engine. In this study, the tested fuels were obtained through catalytic cracking process. Experimental results showed that the flash points and cetane number of the WTO blended diesel have increased with higher concentration of WTO. Based on the experimental results, HC, CO and NOx emissions noticeably decrease, while smoke emissions dramatically increase with increasing the dosing level of WTO. At the full load, the magnitude of HC, CO and NOx emissions for the neat diesel was 120 ppm, 0.36 (%by volume) and 1130ppm, whereas it was 68 ppm, 0.17 (%by volume) and 410ppm for the WTO20 fuel, respectively. The results also showed a significant enhancement in brake thermal efficiency and heat release rate due to the influence of the WTO20 in diesel blend.

Abstract−The screening and use of benign chemicals for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) applications is important
because of their properties and relationship to the embedded fluids. We investigated a special type of ionic liquids (ILs) called ‘‘Ammoeng” for potential use in surfactant EOR to replace the currently used surfactants that have many disadvantages. The interfacial tension (IFT) between a representative oil sample from Saudi reservoirs and solutions of AmmoengTM ILs at different concentrations in 10 wt% NaCl aqueous solutions were measured as a function of temperature. It was found that the IFT values decreased with the increase of IL concentration. However, the effect of temperature
on the IFT depended on the type of IL. AmmoengTM 102 gave the lowest IFT values among the screened ILs.
The comparison of the results to those resulting from TritonX100, a commercially used surfactant, showed that theIFT values using AmmoengTM 102 were smaller than the corresponding values when TritonX100 was used at the sameconditions. The possibility of having a synergetic effect when using a mixture of AmmoengTM 102 and Triton X 100 was also investigated. The results showed that the IFT values depended on the total concentration, the surfactant toIL mass ratio, and the temperature.

Cultivating and maintaining discipline within teams is a critical differentiator for successful organisations.
Forward-thinking leaders and business managers understand the impact that discipline has on organisational success. A disciplined workforce operates with clarity, focus, and a shared understanding of expectations, ultimately driving better results, optimising productivity, and facilitating seamless collaboration.
Although discipline is not a one-size-fits-all approach, it can help create a work environment that encourages personal growth and accountability rather than solely relying on punitive measures.
In this deck, you will learn the significance of workplace discipline for organisational success. You’ll also learn
• Four (4) workplace discipline methods you should consider
• The best and most practical approach to implementing workplace discipline.
• Three (3) key tips to maintain a disciplined workplace.
