Computers are now used extensively both personally and professionally for a wide range of tasks. Application software can be categorized as either horizontal, meant for general use across departments, or vertical, designed for specific industries. There are many types of application software including suites that bundle multiple programs, enterprise software for large organizations, infrastructure software to support other applications, and content access software for consuming media. Application software can also be classified by computing platform, delivery method, or intended device.

Master the Ever Expanding Puzzle of End-User Computing with a Strategy and Ro...Info-Tech Research Group
Develop a strategy and roadmap to fit all the end-user computing pieces together and prioritize trends in your organization.
Your Challenge
The end-user computing landscape continues to grow more and more complex.
Developing a strategy and roadmap that meet the capabilities of IT and the needs of end users is more and more important.
Organizations need to focus on more than just the technology – people and processes need focus too.
Our Advice
Critical Insight
The number of options available for end-user computing today—complicated by trends like mobility, consumerization, and BYOD—can be overwhelming for infrastructure managers developing a long-term strategy.
Blindly following trends results in wasted effort and spending when initiatives have not been designed to fit together.
An end-user computing strategy is not only about technology. Processes and people are equally important if a strategy is to be successful.
Most strategies are stuck years in the past. Users have evolved faster than IT. Catch up, and ensure that your strategy is ready for the next decade.
Focus on the user, not the device. A locked-down PC is obsolete.
Impact and Result
A well-planned end-user computing strategy can:
Improve the lives of users by enabling access to company resources in a way that fits their use cases.
Improve the lives of IT by implementing the most efficient tools for deploying, managing, and supporting end-user computing resources.
Improve the business by reducing wasted spending and identifying new revenue opportunities enabled by new end-user computing trends.
Develop an end-user computing strategy and roadmap that fits all the pieces together, and then communicate the plan with a set of simple documents.
This presentation is about Office Automation System (OAS). It is a topic in Information Technology for Managers. It includes meaning and concept of office automation, functions of OAS and advantages and disadvantages of OAS

PHP Frameworks: I want to break free (IPC Berlin 2024)Ralf Eggert
In this presentation, we examine the challenges and limitations of relying too heavily on PHP frameworks in web development. We discuss the history of PHP and its frameworks to understand how this dependence has evolved. The focus will be on providing concrete tips and strategies to reduce reliance on these frameworks, based on real-world examples and practical considerations. The goal is to equip developers with the skills and knowledge to create more flexible and future-proof web applications. We'll explore the importance of maintaining autonomy in a rapidly changing tech landscape and how to make informed decisions in PHP development.
This talk is aimed at encouraging a more independent approach to using PHP frameworks, moving towards a more flexible and future-proof approach to PHP development.

During the webinar, you will discover the PowSyBl ecosystem as well as handle and study an electrical network through an interactive Python notebook.
PowSyBl is an open source project hosted by LF Energy, which offers a comprehensive set of features for electrical grid modelling and simulation. Among other advanced features, PowSyBl provides:
- A fully editable and extendable library for grid component modelling;
- Visualization tools to display your network;
- Grid simulation tools, such as power flows, security analyses (with or without remedial actions) and sensitivity analyses;
The framework is mostly written in Java, with a Python binding so that Python developers can access PowSyBl functionalities as well.
What you will learn during the webinar:
- For beginners: discover PowSyBl's functionalities through a quick general presentation and the notebook, without needing any expert coding skills;

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Application of computers
1.
2. Information of application of
computers
Computers are currently being used more than ever before
both at home and the workplace. From supermarkets to
hospitals, computers are used to simplify everyday tasks.
To help in police investigations.
In the supermarket.
In the TV and video industry.
In banking.
In school.
In medicine.
To control traffic.
In the music industry.
To monitor the level of pollution.
3. Application software classification
Application software falls into two general categories; horizontal applications and vertical applications. Horizontal applications are the most popular
and widespread in departments or companies. Vertical applications are niche products, designed for a particular type of business or division in a
company.
There are many types of application software:
An application suite consists of multiple applications bundled together. They usually have related functions, features and user interfaces, and may be
able to interact with each other, e.g. open each other's files. Business applications often come in suites, e.g. Microsoft Office, OpenOffice.org and
Work, which bundle together a word processor, a spreadsheet, etc.; but suites exist for other purposes, e.g. graphics or music.
Enterprise software addresses the needs of organization processes and data flow, often in a large distributed environment. (Examples include financial
systems, customer relationship management (CRM) systems and supply chain management software). Departmental Software is a sub-type of
enterprise software with a focus on smaller organizations or groups within a large organization. Examples include travel expense management and IT
Helpdesk)
Enterprise infrastructure software provides common capabilities needed to support enterprise software systems. (Examples include databases, email
servers, and systems for managing networks and security.)
Information worker software lets users create and manage information, often for individual projects within a department, in contrast to enterprise
management. Examples include time management, resource management, documentation tools, analytical, and collaborative. Word
processors, spreadsheets, email and blog clients, personal information system, and individual media editors may aid in multiple information worker
tasks.
Content access software is used primarily to access content without editing, but may include software that allows for content editing. Such software
addresses the needs of individuals and groups to consume digital entertainment and published digital content. (Examples include media players, web
browsers, and help browsers.)
Educational software is related to content access software, but has the content and/or features adapted for use in by educators or students. For
example, it may deliver evaluations (tests), track progress through material, or include collaborative capabilities.
Simulation software simulates physical or abstract systems for either research, training or entertainment purposes.
Media development software generates print and electronic media for others to consume, most often in a commercial or educational setting. This
includes graphic-art software, desktop publishing software, multimedia development software, HTML editors, digital-animation editors, digital audio
and video composition, and many others.[2]
Product engineering software is used in developing hardware and software products. This includes computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided
engineering (CAE), computer language editing and compiling tools, integrated development environments, and application programmer interfaces.
Applications can also be classified by computing platform such as a particular operating system, delivery network such as in cloud computing and Web
2.0 applications, or delivery devices such as mobile apps for mobile devices.
The operating system itself can be considered application software when performing simple calculating, measuring, rendering, and word processing
tasks not used to control hardware via command-line interface or graphical user interface. This does not include application software bundled within
operating systems such as a software calculator or text editor
