An important thing to remember about cognitive psychology is that it isn't just about
the thoughts you have but also about how those thoughts impact your behavior.

3. Depression and Anxiety
• Aaron T. Beck – father of cognitive therapy – motivated cognitive
therapy to cure depressive diseases - drugs adversely affect
physiological mechanisms
• Patients need to develop positive patterns of thought and behaviour
to be able to act normally after anti-depressants
Aggressive And Anti-Social Behavior
• Children who develop the ability to process social information well
become adults who behave in more socially-acceptable ways
• As we learn and become aware of the process of evaluating other’s
behavior, we are able to make better choices in our social behavior

4. Education and Development
• Jean Piaget’s cognitive development stages outline the way people's
thought processes change throughout their lives - guide teachers in
helping their students progress at rates that are appropriate for their level
of cognitive development.
• Metacognition is used to help students assess their learning and develop
better learning strategies
Learning
• Using the right cognitive strategies can help us comprehend and
remember the information better and enhance memory
• Cognitive strategies include summarizing or annotating readings,
predicting outcomes, and reflecting on what you've learned

5. Artificial Intelligence
• Cognitive modeling approach has resulted in a model of human
information processing technique
• AI when applied for predicting mental processes can help in
 Prevention of Mental Disorder
Knowledge discovery and Data mining
Discovering and dealing with Autism: The AI Gaming Systems imparts
valuable training to the child using the agent model, to which neural net
and positive Reinforcement agents are attached. Assessment comprises
Pre-training (prior to usage of AI Gaming Systems) and post- The
computers offer a context-free environment in which many people with
autism feel comfortable, therapists and teachers are increasingly using
virtual reality tools to teach life skills, such as crossing the road.
