mark. which is used to show possessions ,contractions, etc.
 It has three cases. Which are given below

3. Show some plural forms.
SHOW POSSESSIVENESS
 It is used to create possessions or ownership of singular or plural nouns,
especially the one referring to a person.
 For singular nouns
For example:

3. Samad’s cat.
For Plural Nouns.
 If the noun is a plural then the apostrophe is used after the ‘s’.

2. The boys’ room.
3. The Kennedys' family.
Nouns ending with “s”
 If a name ends on ‘s’ then apostrophe is placed after that ‘s’.

Hastings’ pen. Correct
2.Texas’ weather.
CONTRACTIONS:
 They can be used to create some contraction. That is, combining two
words into one by omitting letters.
For example:
1. I am can be written as I’m.
2. I have can be written as I’ve. Etc.
Apostrophe:
 It is also used to form plural of digits and letters.
For example:
1. There are four e’s in word sheep.
2. She got three A’s and four B’s in the o’levels.
2. She dotted all her i’s very carefully.
 It sometime also indicates omission of number in a date.
For example:
1.Summer of ‘99. etc.
Apostrophe: special case
 If there exist irregular plural nouns then the apostrophe s (‘s) would come after the
noun.
For example: The children’s playhouse.
 As for it’s , with an apostrophe ‘s’ indicates the contraction of it & is (it’s) while
simple ‘its’ shows the possessive case.
