A Comparison Of The Glass Menagerie
While reading Tennessee Williams play, The Glass Menagerie , readers are drawn into the drama
and disaster that is the Wingfield family. There were several different film and television versions
of this play done thru the years from 1950 to 1987. After watching several different adaptations,
Paul Newman s film adaptation in 1987 is extremely faithful to the written version. Focusing on
plot, setting, and character development the audienceis introduced to a familywith an austere future
structured around a series of abandonments, difficulty accepting reality and the impossibility of
true escape. Both versions begin with a narrator looking back at the past and setting the stage for
what memories will follow. The story is told in hindsight by Tom. It begins with Laura and
Amanda waiting at the dining table for Tom to join them, so they can say grace and begin the meal,
showing the audience, the family is very close and depend on each other. Throughout, readers also
see constant conflict between the mother and children, but never conflict between the siblings. For
instance, when Williams writes after an argument between Tom and Amanda; AMANDA: I won t
speak to you until you apologize! (25) then the next morning Amanda sending Laura out, so she
can talk to Tom privately to discuss Laura s future. Trying to provide security to Laura and Amanda
(at Amanda s request), Tom invites and friend, Jim, home from work to meet his sister in the hopes
that he will assume the

Literary Analysis Of Rene Magritte s The Son Of Man
Part of human nature is to find faces in images whether they are supposed to be there or not. So,
Rene Magritte purposely made the face unseeable behind the apple. In his painting, there is
more than what meets the eye. The way in which he executed the piece is simple yet it still
makes those who see the art wonder what it represents. As like any artwork, successes and
failures can be found in Magritte s art and how well it portrays the meaning behind the piece.
The Son of Man when examined closer, can be more interesting than one might think.
Representation lies in every form of art. There is the literal representation, and there is the
abstract figurative way of viewing. Simply, the painting shows a man with an apple in front of
his face and a storm taking place behind him. Many think the fruit is referencing the tale of
William Tell in which he shot an apple off his son s head. Since in Magritte s painting the fruit is
floating in front of him, this alludes to him about to be shot in the face. Others quickly think
religion inspired the work. The Son of Man sounds eerily close to Son of Man, which is Jesus
title. Also, the green fruit could be from the famous tale of the Garden of Eden where Eve took a
bite from an apple and committed the first sin. Neither of these are wrong, but Rene Magritte
states, Well so you have the apparent face, the apple, hiding the visible but hidden, the face of a
person... There is an interest in that which is hidden and which the visible

Making A Bespoke Solution, Commercial Of The Shelf Solution
Many IT departments face the dilemma whether to purchase into a bespoke solution, commercial of
the shelf solution (COTS) or open sourcing , when sourcing new software, in the competitive
market. The chosen option should be one which meets the business and system requirements, as
well as; understand the architectural requirements, the current skill set of the development team,
existing solutions, advances in technology and understanding the advantages and disadvantages of
each solution before a decision is made, which are all part of the six step process recommended by

It is imperative to consider the architectural desires for a project. Identifying the industry standards
and requirements will help determine if a solution is worth developing within the company or
outsourcing either through bespoke design or off shelf, this is to reduce the cost of operation and
maintenance. Some architectural factors that may restrict the solution could be, the security
strategy, technology communications, existing systems which will interact with the new solution,
the structure (frameworks such as J2EE or .NET) , servers, browsers and Operating systems.
When designing and deciding the desires of this app , because this is a new capability for the
company, there will no interfaces or servers which the app will have to interact with as everything
will need to be developed because the app is a new capability.
The bespoke solution and means that these desires should be already known and aligned with the
industry standard because it is being developed in house with the guidance from skilled people.
The COTS solution is the least likely to be aligned out of all three solutions, this is due to the fact
that it has been designed with general based on basic common functionality and so it will unable to
be compatible with all servers and operating systems.

Reign Of Richard II Essay
Chadwick Petty
William Shakespeare

The Reign of Richard II
With Richard II, then, Shakespeare turns to the events that had launched England s century of crisis
(Bevington, 2014). These events were still fresh and relevant to Elizabethan minds (Bevington,
2014). To begin with, we should not underestimate Richard s attractive qualities, as a man and even
as a king (Bevington, 2014). Richard is consistently more impressive and majestic than his rival,
Bolingbroke (Bevington, 2014). Richard fascinates us with his verbal sensitivity, his poetic insight,
and his dramatic self consciousness (Bevington, 2014). These qualities notwithstanding, Richard is
an incompetent ruler, compared to the man who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When John Gaunt died, Richard removed and exiled Bolingbroke.
Bodies talk first in throughout Richard II primarily because indulgence, in the garden of England as
in the Garden of Eden, is quickly branded the most significant threat to the stability of Richard s
monarchy (Hoffmann, 2009). John of Gaunt may be the only character to understand that appetite
is as much a matter of power as it is of desire, taste or need , and that to control appetite is to
control power, but Richard himself perceives and worries over the same relationship (Hoffmann,
2009). Just as Genesis s garden of Eden, the cultural narrative of Richard s England demands that
those judged guilty of overindulgence be banished, along with their intemperate appetites
(Hoffmann, 2009).
Richard II assumes, often to his own detriment, that his position at the top of the political food
chain, while it may not render him immune from threats, still gives him prerogative to banish those
threats before they materialize (Hoffmann, 2009). Furthermore, he executes these punishments
without ever defining exactly what it is he is punishing (Hoffman, 2009). He responds to perceived
threats not as examples/offshoots of his own vile participation, his own destructive appetites, but as
already external menaces, monsters/monstrosities that necessitate banishment and imprisonment
outside the borders of civilization (Hoffmann, 2009). Once banished, a

Blanche Dubois Body Image
Blanche Blanche would portray the image of a middle aged blonde that has blue eyes and an
outgoing personality. She would have visible signs of aging on her face as well as other obvious
indicators that her prime years took place in the past. She would not admit it, but she has many
problems with body image and looking attractive to the opposite sex which she tries to disguise
by resembling an outgoing person. Other physical attributes would include long slender legs that
she makes sure appear visible as often as possible. She would make herself high maintenance and
sassy as if she belonged or at least deserved to belong anywhere she felt fit. These descriptors

He has a defined physique and facial structure that allows him to come across as having an
intimidation factor. This intimidation factor plays into the beating of his wife Stella and her
unwillingness to do anything about it because she acts too intimidated by his rage and eruptions
in emotion. It also ends up clear that Stanley s masculine and toned appearance comes off as so
attractive to Stella that she develops a naivety to his controlling and abusive behavior and looks
past it in return for sexual favors. Stanley s combined traits that include muscularity, masculinity,
aggressiveness, and blondeness led me to choosing Dolph Lundgren as the actor who would play
Stanley. Dolph Lundgren plays the antagonist Ivan Drago in the fourth Rocky movie versus
Russia. He portrays an aggressive Russian (close to Polish) who has an aggressive attitude with
no intention of backing down at anything unless he feels like backing down. This relates to
Stanley for the obvious reasons of aggression but also in the fact that Stanley never backed down
from trying to get Blanche to leave his home and his wife alone. The costume that Stanley would
wear would resemble a wife beater and jeans most of the time, at least at home. This outfit fits his
non traditional personality as well as his rough/manly military

The Illiad by Homer
The first person in The Iliad that can be considered god like is Trojan prince Hector. He is also a
commander on the Trojan side, and he truly the greatest Trojan warrior. The character of this
Trojan hero is dynamic and changes throughout the book. At the beginning of the book he acts like
a great warrior should. He is the most brave out of all the Trojans. Hectorleads his army and never
fails. In the later part of the book we see Hector as a brave warrior but we are also introduced to
his other side, his fear of death. Although he, like all of the other warriors in the Ancient times,
knows that through the battle he can earn his eternal glory, he cares more about his family and he
knows that if the Trojan army fails, the Greeks will kill his son and take his wife as a slave girl.
We first meet Hector when he is already on the battlefield and he is encouraging his brother Paris
after he challenged great Greek warrior, Menelaus. Hector shows that he is an honorable man,
and that fleeing and not fighting is not a way of a real Trojan hero. Paris brother tells him
...Would to god you d never been born, died unwed. That s all I d ask. he continues saying Better
that way by far than to have u strutting here, an outrage a mockery in the eyes of all our

honorable because he is the reason of the whole Trojan war. Hector calls him a coward and tells

During the early republic, Mexico was in a state of change and conflict. Different parties opposed

Mexico a better country.
Mexico had been in political turmoil for several years after their independence from Spain in

Maximilian had agreed to be emperor but was in need for more troops for his protection.
Liberals by this time held on to power in northwestern Mexico and parts of the Pacific Coast.
The Mexican Minister, Matias Romero, built strong allies with Americans to support Mexico.
The American Civil War ended in 1865 which was caused by Juarez s success against
Maximilian s forces. Maximilian alienated his conservative allies by trying to adopt liberal
policies in which he failed to win over the liberals. By 1866, Napoleon III ordered withdrawal of
French troops. Maximilian is captured and executed which marks the end of the European
intervention in Mexico. The Restoration was a period which lasted nine years which made peace

Different Political Sysytems
In the vast majority of political systems, which have gone through the processes of federalisation or
decentralization, the courts have assumed a prominent role in resolving intergovernmental disputes.
However, academics, such as Alan Trench and Robert Hazel, agree, that courts role in the working
of devolution in the United Kingdomwas limited. They name political congruence in the UK as a
main factor minimizing the role of the judiciary in the devolution process. There also is a number
of secondary factors adding to it. Such as the limited role accorded to lawyers and legal issues in
the UK s governmental system, the high degree of flexibility of the devolution settlements and a
political nature of the UK s constitution, which favours resolution of intergovernmental disputes by
means other than courts. Despite the chance that once devolution legislation comes into force, the
case law builds up and devolved legislatures become more active, courts role is more likely to
become more significant as a result of third party litigation, Alan Trench predicts that the role of
courts in most intergovernmental matters is unlikely to change due to hindering factors mentioned
above. We will elaborate on them further.
It was predicted before devolution process was started in 1999 that the courts will be called upon to
resolve numerous arising intergovernmental disputes on new constitutional agreements, as it

Effects Of Decolonization Of Burma

Intro International Politics
13 October 2014
Unwillingness to do what is Right
Decolonization after 1945 undoubtedly caused more harm than good. Inevitably, colonized
countries across the globe would have eventually requested sovereignty. Today, many decolonized
countries are beginning to prosper and flourish; however, their path to such a state was long and
challenging. The fluke in decolonization was not that it happened, but the way it did. Only
concerned with self interest and prosperity domestically, European Empires were blinded to the
consequences of abandoning their colonies without any guidance or support. Poor decolonization
of Burma resulted in widespread oppression, downfall of the economy, and violation of human
rights. Britain left Burma with a very weak government unable to control its own country. As a
result, the democratic government was overthrown and a ruthless tyrant rose to power.
Before British rule, Burma was a wealthy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new government was continuously challenged by communists and under represented ethnic
groups. Home to one of the largest diversity of ethnic groups, it was extremely challenging to
please all. With demands of, protection of ethnic culture, language, and religion, the devolution of
tangible executive, legislative, and judicial power to the ethnic states within a true federal union,
and a democratic form of government (ConflictMap.org) not met, the ethnic groups turned to
violence. As a result, Burma experienced intense periods of civil war which devastated and
destabilized the country even further. As the economy collapsed, U Nu was forced out of office by
General Ne Win in order to restore law and order . U Nu was re elected in February 1960, but two

Ethics Of The At-Will Doctrine
Ethics of the At Will Doctrine Have you ever wondered what the term at will employment
means? According to Cornell University Law School, the employment at will doctrine refers to
the presumption that employment is for an indefinite period of time and may be terminated
either by employer or employee (n.d., para. 1). This doctrine is said to level the playing field
between employee and employer as each party can end their relationship at will. At will
employment however is not equally applied between public and private business sectors, nor is it
supported in every state within the United States. Employees who work for the public sector such
as teachers or firefighters, or those working in California or Montana for example, can only be...

The employer generally invests time locating a candidate to hire, and resources for salary,
benefits and training to ensure success for both the employee and the company. The employee
can terminate his/her employment at any time, for any reason; thus, leaving the employer at a
disadvantage. The employer has to recoup the company losses by again invest time and money
to hire another employee with no guarantee that the new hire will stay any longer than the
previous employee. Is this fair or ethical behavior toward the employer? Do employers ask that
the employee reimburse them for the time and resources expended to hire a replacement?
Should they? In an effort to create equity in risk and benefit between employee and employer,
the at will employment doctrine allows the employer to terminate an employee at any time, for
any reason. But again, is this fair or ethical behavior towards the employee? Don t businesses
have a greater amount of power than an employee in determining work environment and pay
scale? Is it ethical for an employer to take advantage of their employees and fire those who make
a high salary and replace them with employees with a lower starting pay in order to save money or
distribute bonuses to top executives? Cornell University Law School notes that given the unequal
bargaining power between employees and employers, critics of this doctrine have noted its overly
harsh results and have looked to unions, acting as certified

Aristotle And Jean Jacques Rousseau And Rousseau On The...
People such as Buddhist monks devote their lives to the search for virtue through isolation and
meditation. Others believe that just simply living your life as a generous person and practicing self
preservation is virtuous. These two different, yet similar ideas of virtuous living came from the two
philosophers known as Aristotle and Jean Jacques Rousseauand their works in the Nicomachean
Ethicsand Discourse on The Origin of Inequality. Aristotle believed that the individual had to meet
multiple qualifications in order to truly be virtuous; rather than Rousseau who thought a virtuous
person simply needed to preserve their own life and have the virtuepity, or defined by him as your
natural impulses. While they both disagree on whether impulse or habit is the key to becoming
virtuous or even what virtue is, they agree that we pursue the virtuous life in order to avoid pain.
Jean Jacques Rousseau in The Origin of Inequality talks briefly about a savage man in the state of
nature and what makes him virtuous. Rousseau said, Qualities that can harm an individual s
preservation vices in him and those than can contribute to its virtues. In that case it would be
necessary to call the one who least resists the simple impulses of nature the most virtuous, (35).
When reading this, one can clearly see Rousseau depicts the virtuous person being the savage man
who gives into his impulses. He believes that man should only fulfill his natural impulses of sex,
sleep, and food in

Space Race Pros And Cons
SOCIAL WHEELS AND SPACE RACES
When we talk about recent innovation, social change, industrial change, what pops into most of
our heads is space technology . Gps systems, wifi, the moon landing, and probes all fall into this
category. But how did all these interstellar wonders appear into our everyday life? What pushed
our civilization to expand out tech beyond the sky. The answer to that starts with politics. To be
more exact, a nazi v2 rocket project late in WW2. Although it wasn t a very effective weapon, it
brought the idea of a space technological evolution .The USSR and the US governments captured
the German science team after the war for their own projects. Both nations pooled money into this

The explorer was a huge step for the states, their first man made object in space. And what did
Russia do to maintain their technological dominance? Shortly after the American success, the
USSR launched the first man armed mission, and made Yuri Gagarin the first to bask in the
interstellar glory of outer space. And not soon after, the USSR buried the dagger even deeper
with a couple more Russians waving the red flag in outer space. The US barely catching up,
launched into space. The states can thank Kennedy for their first lead on Russia, as he announced
the goal of sending an American to the moon. As we all know now, NASAdelivered the Americans
their leading point when Neil Armstrong first stepped on the moon. From the point of view of
other countries, it would make much more sense if both superpowers worked together, instead of
childish symbolic projects. Not only were these experiments expensive, they were also quite
dangerous. As US and USSR relations got better, the space race slowly came to an end. That
officially happened when space stations from both countries docked, and astronauts from both ends
of the race shook hands and shared gifts. This iconic

Examples Of Oppression In Their Eyes Were Watching God
In 1791, Thomas Paine wrote the book Rights of Man, in which he expresses his thoughts on the
unity of the American people. Walter Russell, however, claims America has always been a
division of man. There has always been the conqueror and conquered the master and the slave
the ruler and the ruled the oppressor and the oppressed. There has never been content nor unity.
There has been only discontent and disunity . While in the United States there are people similar
to Paine who strive for freedom and diversity, there are also those, as Walter Russell illustrates,
who promote racism, violence, and disunity. Thomas Paine s viewpoint is mostly inaccurate
because while there are times of peace, justice, and concord, there are far greater instances of
oppression, privilege, and riots in America. Two examples of oppression in the America are
illustrated in the novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God, written by Zora Neale Hurston. In the
novel, Janie, a black woman living in the post civil war South, is oppressed by her husband,
Logan Killicks. After Janie refuses to help him with the farm work, he yells at her, Ah ll take

Heroism In Breadcrumbs And Harry Potter And The...
It is no secret that humans are a product of their surroundings. Fictional or actual, children are
susceptible to influence from all sides, their psyche constantly being moulded as new
experiences perform rapid fire assault. In the novels Breadcrumbs and Harry Potter and the
Philosopher s Stone, authors Anne Ursu and J.K. Rowling have added enough depth to their
characters that the reader experiences a brand new person, chock full with these experiences.
The incredible 3 dimensional view each author describes lends to each character s why ; why
they go forward with their respective adventures, why they react the way they do, why they
care. Every child sees themselves as the protagonist of their story, and heroes are universally
admired. It is clear that possessing the traits of a hero is not enough, or there would be no heroes
at all heroes, especially child heroes, need to possess something special to drive an adventure
forward. Nothing makes a person or character more unique than their individual experiences.

likely dragged down by its significant trade barriers. These barriers represent an obstacle to
flourishing trade for Indonesia, which otherwise performs well in terms of its international
trade profile. Data and Arguments The country s economy is in the trillion dollar class, and
ranks 16th in the world, just below Canada and just above Turkey (CIA World Factbook, 2012).
With ranks of 27th in the world for exports, 30th for imports, 34th for inbound FDI and 37th for
outbound FDI (Ibid), Indonesia s flows are much greater than its globalization ranking would
indicate. This points to trade barriers as being a drag on its KOF score. These figures at least to
some extent tied to commodity prices, as Indonesia s exports and inbound FDI in particular are tied
to its mineral and forest wealth (World Bank, 2010). Indonesia is a member of the World Trade
Organization, and therefore is committed to lowering its trade barriers. The WTO publishes
statistics on tariffs that illustrate that, in general, the Indonesian trade market

Computer Hacking Is The Scale Of The Problem Essay
Computer hacking has been becoming more and more of a threat in recent years and is being
brought to the public eye more often. Large and small corporations alike, as well as individuals
are at risk of losing personal information to hackers, opening up doors to cyber attacks and theft.
Statistics show that half of American adults have been hacked this year alone (Pagliery). Security
experts and law enforcement say that hackers are actively scanning merchants networks for ways to
gain remote access to their systems. The Department of homeland Security and Secret service
recently, estimated that more than 1,000 businesses in the United States had been infected with
malware programmed to siphon payment card details from cash registers. It is believed that many
of these companies had no idea they were breached and sharing the information of thousands of
customer s credit cardinformation. A main reason for concern with cybercrime is the scale of the
problem. If it were a series of on off events people might be less concerned with it however, it is an
ongoing problem.
Just a few days ago for example, hackers broke into the debit and credit card payment networks
of two of the nation s most popular food chains: Albertson s and SuperValu. Impacted by this
breach are all of the stores related to these chains including: Acme, Jewel Osco, Shaw s, and Star
Markets, as well as Cub Foods, Hornbacher s, Shop N Save, and Shoppers Food and Pharmacy
(Pagliery). As of now it is unclear how

What Psychological Information Is Available From The Early...
Recognizing a face is a starting point when interacting socially, as it is the most important stimuli
we see. The face portrays information about a person s identity, their emotional state and where
they are directing their visual attention. To be able to process this information within a very short
space of time is crucial in social interactions and probably dates back to our ancestor s survival. The
human brainis very adept in processing an abundance of information in a simple yet effortless
way. These processes require such specific brain areas to do this. This essay is going to discuss
what psychological information is available from the early stages of face processing. The essay
will discuss the neuroscience and the regions of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When humans cognitively process faces this involves either holistic processing or configural
processing. There is evidence that the processing of faces is done much more holistically than with
objects as this comes from studies of inversion (Yin, 1969). An inverted face impairs the recognition
and is much more difficult to encode than with other objects and this could be due to the spatial
relations.
In facial recognition a face model was created by Bruce and Young in 1986 and is one of the most
influential face models to be created and is still used. It comprises of eight components: structural
encoding, expression analysis, facial speech analysis, directed visual processing, face recognition
nodes, person identity nodes, name generation and cognitive system. According to their face
recognition model various types of information are acquired from faces. When recognising a
familiar face, the components used depend largely on structural encoding, face recognition units,
person identity nodes and name generation. In comparison with an unfamiliar face, the
components used depend largely on structural encoding, expression analysis, facial speech
analysis and directed visual processing. However, as the face model created by Bruce and Young
(1986) was quite complex, a simpler version was created by Duchaine and Nakayama (2006) which
provided four stages: face detection, structural encoding, face memory and emotion/gender etc.

Pre-Medical Career Research Paper
Since I was young, I always envisioned myself wearing the decent white blazer and my
fashionable clothes, having the Dr. before my first name, and owning and managing my own
clinic with a lot of merry patients who trust me as their doctor. As a kid during those days, doctor

In my early teens and as a part of growing up and finding myself, I developed my interest in

and the regular information about the industry and its history. It is pivotal to understand and
analyze the industrial impact in the particular industry as the show is related to entertainment
industry. Around 20 different game showswere analyzed to determine the fate of ours, as the
above mentioned game shows were similar in sketch. Two of popular programs were SPRITE
FUNDA and LIVING ON THE EDGE, these shows have successfully targeted the youth but they
somewhat failed to capitalize the market in the growth terms. We believe that our execution would
go as planned and we can successfully fill the vacuum in the industry.
TARGET MARKET:
QUICKWITT will be targeting the youth industry by focusing on colleges and universities in the
initial time periods. The age would fall between 16 and 28 years old. In our initial stage we would
be targeting the youth from Lahore, the data collected by our team suggests that we would have to
shuffle between 28,000 individuals. However, we would be setting up arrangements for 3 to 400
students as audience from the participating institution. The target market of Lahore is flexible and
elastic, as it comprises the majority of youth population of the country.

Friar Lawrence To Blame Essay
In the play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, I say the deaths of Romeo and Juliet
were Friar Lawrence s fault. I say this because he didn t involve one of the main characters,
Romeo, in a plan that later was ruined because Romeo didn t know. I also say this because Friar
Lawrence was quite a hypocrite. Primarily, I say Friar Lawrence is to blame for Romeo and
Juliet s deaths because he did not involve Romeo in a plan to have Juliet appear dead,so she
could get away from her parents, and get out of marrying Paris. First off, Friar Lawrence sent
Friar John, but he did not get the message to Romeo, that he needed to go to the Capulet s tomb
and get Juliet away when she wakes up. Because Romeo did not know about the poison, when
Balthasar tells Romeo she was dead, he went to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be specific, Friar Lawrence told Romeo when he and Juliet wanted Friar Lawrence to marry
them, I stand on sudden haste. Wisely and slow, they stumble that run fast. Here he is saying to
take things slow, don t rush things. Later on when Friar Lawrence and Juliet were trying to
make a plan on how to avoid Juliet having to marry Paris the next day, and instead of making a
well thought out plan, he quickly made one, and it failed. This shows that he is a hypocrite for
not taking it slow, even though that s the advice he gave Romeo earlier. As a matter of fact, he
then married Romeo and Juliet, trying to end the feud between their families, but later on he
knew he would be punished if the families knew he married them. Also when people were
coming towards the tomb, he wanted Juliet to run and stay with the nuns so no one would know
what he did. Friar Lawrence also rushed the part of the plan involving Romeo, that part failed, and
that is where is all went wrong. Friar Lawrence is a hypocrite for not following his own advice he
gave, and not sticking with his plan all along, stop the feud the Montagues and Capulets

Essay On The Movie Whale Rider
In the movie Whale Rider directed by Niki Caro, many important objects are used to foreshadow
the later events involving protagonist Paikea Apirana, a young girl forbidden by tradition to
become the chief of her tribe. Although the outcome of the film seems quite unprecedented at first,
Director Caro conceals many clues regarding the ending for the audience to discover. She does this
through the use of camera angles, dialogue and props, notably through the use of the rope, the
Taiaha and the Rei Puta. Furthermore, while making links to certain scenes in the movie, Niki Caro
has hidden life lessons and morals regarding discrimination, prejudice and leadership that the
audience can closely relate to and learn from.
Firstly, an important object in Whale Rider is the Rope. It is used to repair a motor, and is used by
Koro to represent the tribe s ancestors. This is shown in the two shot of Koro and Paikea
repairing the motor, and Koro s dialogue tells Paikea that each one of those threads is one of
your ancestors, all joined together and strong . The rope is also important as it foreshadows
Paikea becoming the Chief of the tribe. The rope is said by Koro to symbolise the ancestry and
community of the people of Whangara, but Koro breaks that wire, thus breaking the community.
However, Paikea mends the rope that Koro broke, foreshadowing the mending of the community
that can be seen at the end of the movie. This is shown in a medium shot of Paikea mending the
rope and even

The Case Of Terry V. Ohio
Terry v. Ohio is an important case in law enforcement. What did the Court say in this case, and why
is it important?
The Supreme Court made it clear with its ruling that, police do have the authority to stop or detain
an individual for a questioning for a short term period without probable cause if he/she make have
or about to commit a crime. This ruling is important because it gives police officer the authority to
help protect him/herself as well as the community. It also puts steps in place to protect citizens from
unreasonable search and seizure that is protected our Fourth Amendment right. In the case of Terry
v. Ohio a police detective observed two men walking up and down a street several times and
gazing into a store window. The officer observing conduct from the individuals that would lead
him or her to suspect that a crime has already happened or about to happen is one of the
necessities need to consider this as a valid stop. The officer identified himself as an officer of the
law and began to inquire and request identification. The officer in this case followed the required
guidelines for a valid stop. In return the Supreme Court ruled that this was a valid stop and frisk.
According to United States Supreme Court TERRY v. OHIO, (1968) MR. JUSTICE HARLAN,
concurring. While I unreservedly agree with the Court s ultimate holding in this case, I am

The fact that JFK just won the presidential election illustrates that this speech is a product of
pathos, he won America over because they trust him. Pathos is a strong element of a writing piece
because once the reader trusts the writer or speaker they are willing to listen to anything they have
to offer.
The overall theme in this speech unifies the whole speech. JFK s speech shows a theme of
progression. This is the perfect theme for an innaugural speech because the whole goal of the
country is to progress as a whole once a new president is elected. He shows this theme of rhetoric
in his quote, We observe today not a victory of party but a celebration of freedom symbolizing an
end as well as a beginning signifying renewal as well as change (JFK). He uses the word, we and
progress to help signify unity. Repition is combined into the speech to make the theme stand out.
Let both sides (JFK). is a start to a few paragraphs in this speech, these three words combine the

Yoder was a Theologian who preferred the ideals that are directly opposite of Niebuhr. Yoder
believes in Christian Pacifism. In the reading of Taking the Question Seriously. John breaks
down the question of his opposition. What would you do if a criminal, say, pulled a gun and
threated to kill your wife...or daughter or sister or mother (Yoder, John H.). He related this to
Just War when discussing the second of the questioner s assumptions, control. In this section of
the reading the criterion of probable success is a reoccurring element. Failure to be successful is
a serious possibility in every case of dramatic confrontation...In any war at least one side loses; in
some wars, no side wins (Yoder, John H.). Yoder then goes on to knowledge and what outcomes
can occur if no effort to kill the aggressor is made. He will rape my wife, kill my daughter, attack
me...I also know I will be successful if I try to take his life (Yoder, John H.). Yoder explains that
this reasoning is also in questioning, he cites that the unpredictability of violence and that no
one has knowledge of what the outcome will be. John follows this by stating that his wife,
daughter, or mother should be involved in the decision process; he as a third party can not act
on his own desires. He moves his attention on how this single event compares to something on a
larger scale such as war. Yoder mentions various options involving the event. Christian faith
warns me that I use my self centered control of my decision as a tool of my rebelliousness, as a
way of solidifying my independence from my Maker ( Yoder, John H.). We can generalize from
Yoder s statements and opinions that he believes that Christians can not be involved in matters of
violence/ war because Jesus Christ was a pacifist and we should be living a similar life following
the very rule that Niebuhr said humanity does not

Information Technology for Business
Introduction
Technology has created new revenue streams via the Internet and e commerce, new connections
with clients and consumers at work, home, and by mobile applications, and enables business to
conduct commerce across the US and on a global scale (Munson, 2011). Office technologies have
advanced and have allowed business to advance to a point of doing business with global customers,
not just their own areas. It has created a communication standard that is faster and enables
businesses to conduct business at faster levels than ever before. But with new technologies
problems also arise that need to be addressed.
Types of Information Technologies The most prominent example of information technology is the
Internet with its World Wide Web component (Blackhurst, 2002). The Internet has enabled
businesses to set up website storefronts that enable consumers all over the globe to shop anywhere
on the web from anywhere they are. A customer in China can shop a website storefront in the US
without going to the US to shop the business. Education Resources Information Center (ERIC)

Descriptive Essay About My Mandala
My Mandala A Mandala is a circular design that is seen throughout many cultures around the
world. It is a symbolic piece of art used for enlightenment, protection, healing, or something else
depending on the culture. They are often made for meditation as well, and even deconstructed at
the end. The Mandala I created expresses who I am. It spans from my hobbies and favorite places
to my ethnicity. This Mandala has helped me to understand who I am, and how I ve changed and
grown throughout these 14 years. The middle of my Mandala represents the love I have for my
family. The heart represents love, and the people circling it are my family, from both of my
parents sides. I made it so that every family member was wearing a different colored shirt to
represent diversity, and my grandfather and grandmother are wearing Disney merchandise
because of their passion for Disney. My mom and her sister Zdanna are wearing matching
necklaces, to represent their connection with each other, and they actually do have similar
necklaces. The large portion on the left symbolizes how much I went to Disney World as a kid,
and how I grew up watching Disney movies. I love watching the fireworks and Tinkerbell flying
over the Magic Kingdom, so I drew those onto my mandala. The three people watching the
fireworks are my mom, my dad, and me. I am on my dad s shoulders because that is how I was able

Application Of The Personality Theories Developed By Erik...
Application of the Personality Theories Developed by Erik Erikson and Raymond Cattell
Personality is made up of the characteristic patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that make a
person unique. It arises from within the individual and remains fairly consistent throughout life
(Cherry, 2014). My personality is influenced from my specific circumstances, my upbringing, and it
is represented best through the theorists of Erik Erikson and Raymond Cattell.
In specific circumstances my behavior changes, I am introverted, and quiet with new people for
example. In large groups of people I stick to my friends and remain quiet. In the instance that I
know a good majority of the people that I am around, I am outgoing. Generally, I don t associate
with new people, and when I do am reluctant to share with them. As a result of my inability to
open up to new people, I ve failed to acknowledge my feelings altogether as well. For the most
part I lack a father figure within my life, but I have accepted this reality. Comparatively my
brother has played the male role. My mom and I for the most part share a complex relationship, but
it is a strong relationship all in all.
My upbringing and circumstances are responsible for my personality. I was born in Allentown,
Pennsylvania. Up till now I have never moved, but my brother and I grew up with two homes. My
brother is only three years older than me, so we often related like peers. As a result of my parent s
divorce, I ve grown up

Types Of Major Depressive Disorder
Depression in Inmates
Major depressive disorder is a mood disorder that can be found among many Americans, reaching
roughly three percent of adults and eleven percent of adolescents living in the United States.
Other forms of less severe depression affect about ten percent of adult Americans. Women are
more likely to be affected by this disorder than men, and women in their 30 s are also more likely
to be affected than women of any other age group. In the criminal justice world, many adults who
are put in prison or commit violent crimes suffer from a mental illness. Prison conditions aren t
like staying in a five star hotel by any means. Contact with people outside the prison is dependent
on behavior of inmates, and the cells only meet the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When doing some background research, the researchers discussed that higher punishment for
juveniles is becoming more common, for example the placement of a juvenile in an adult prison
setting. Before beginning their research they also looked at the factor that the subjects of this study
might not have incarceration induced depression, as they could have experienced symptoms of
depression before being brought into the system. The research included four types of subjects:
youths incarcerated for serious offences in adult facilities; youths incarcerated for serious offences
in juvenile facilities; youths incarcerated for less serious offences and non incarcerated and non
offending youths. From their research they were able to conclude that incarcerated youths were 20
times more likely to develop depression than those of any other category.
During a study in 2000, researchers did two Beck Depression Inventories, first when the subject
was brought into the prison setting and then again later after they had been in custody for a
while. They also did BDIs on subjects who were in different levels of custody, to determine if the
strictness of the custody that the inmates are in, is a factor of their depression. They took a
sample of subjects from a variety of prisons in North Carolina. The participants ranged from the
ages of 16 to 65, although the mean age was 29 years old. The level of education completed, also
ranged from low education to higher levels of education.

How Do Smart Devices Affect Society
Smart devices have destroyed all generations but also helped. There are some side effects and
causes to why smart devices became smart devices.Questions to why we as people can t get a
good night s sleep. To long nights of bullying or sadness, or to just not knowing how to go to
sleep. This is the side effects and causes that might help you realize the struggle you put yourself
into.
It all starts with you coming back from work or maybe an excellent party. Coming home from
boredom not knowing what to do next, you pick up that device right next to you.I hate to do this,
but admit it, you have phone anxiety. Weather picking up the phone waiting for a text, a call, or
maybe just a video game notification, we all experience this. Not being on your smart device
can sometimes make you feel like you are under pressure, make you feel as if someone was
judging you, make you feel compressed with social awkwardness, and just make you feel as if
you are bullying yourself. That constant battle if you should be on your smart devices depends
on the person, where they are at, or just if they feel comfortable in their own skin. They feel as if
they were being pressured by some force of nature, but in reality behind those devices people are
getting depressed, drowsy, suicidal, bullied, health problems would even worsen, etc. Everything s
not ok, the world we know is changing upside down, things that were once alright aren t anymore,
because of one simple thing, Technology.

Difference Between The Judicial Branch And The Executive...
ВЁSeparation of Powers: Framework for FreedomВЁ
James Madison once stated in Federalist 51 If men were angels, no government would be necessary.
If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be
necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great
difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next
place oblige it to control itself. Madison was asserting that humans are flawed and that separation
of powers was designed to divide up the power and the responsibilities. Each branch would be able
to check on the other one. There are three branches the Judicial Branch, the Legislative Branch, and
the Executive Branch. Each of them have their own duties to fulfill and separation of powers
prohibits one branch from exercising the functions of the other ones. ... Show more content on

The main body of the Judicial Branch is the Supreme Court, it is the highest court in the United
States. It is very important and powerful because it can override the other branches. The head of
the branch is the the Chief Judge of the Supreme Court. In the Judicial Branch there are three
separate levels of court The District Courts, The Court of Appeals, and The Supreme Court. The
Supreme Court was made by the Constitution. Therefore, the Judicial Court plays a vital role in
America.
The Legislative Branch is a fundamental aspect of the US because it is where laws are made and
eventually either passed or vetoed. The Senate and the House of Representatives is part of the
Legislative Branch. Laws are debated upon and voted on in Congress. The Constitution provides
the Legislative Branch with the power of declaring war. Henceforth, the Legislative Branch has a

are five major product categories sold in department stores and they are apparel, drugs and
cosmetics, furniture and household appliances, toys and hobby goods, and other (Carter, 2015).
Some stores may also have pharmacy and photo services as well as restaurants.
Executive Summary
The Department Store industry growth rate and life cycle are declining due to the industry being
unattractive and not drawing in more competitors. Also, firms are leaving the industry because they
want to offer consumers more options and are then reclassified out of this industry into another one.
Industries use either the low cost strategy or the differentiation strategy to obtain a competitive
advantage. Analyzing the external environment has shown that it is not attractive for new entrants.
After the Target data breach firms in the industry are taking the necessary steps to protect consumer
information to be able to regain consumer trust. The industry is starting to raise the hourly rate for

  • 2. A Comparison Of The Glass Menagerie While reading Tennessee Williams play, The Glass Menagerie , readers are drawn into the drama and disaster that is the Wingfield family. There were several different film and television versions of this play done thru the years from 1950 to 1987. After watching several different adaptations, Paul Newman s film adaptation in 1987 is extremely faithful to the written version. Focusing on plot, setting, and character development the audienceis introduced to a familywith an austere future structured around a series of abandonments, difficulty accepting reality and the impossibility of true escape. Both versions begin with a narrator looking back at the past and setting the stage for what memories will follow. The story is told in hindsight by Tom. It begins with Laura and Amanda waiting at the dining table for Tom to join them, so they can say grace and begin the meal, showing the audience, the family is very close and depend on each other. Throughout, readers also see constant conflict between the mother and children, but never conflict between the siblings. For instance, when Williams writes after an argument between Tom and Amanda; AMANDA: I won t speak to you until you apologize! (25) then the next morning Amanda sending Laura out, so she can talk to Tom privately to discuss Laura s future. Trying to provide security to Laura and Amanda (at Amanda s request), Tom invites and friend, Jim, home from work to meet his sister in the hopes that he will assume the ... • 3. Literary Analysis Of Rene Magritte s The Son Of Man Part of human nature is to find faces in images whether they are supposed to be there or not. So, Rene Magritte purposely made the face unseeable behind the apple. In his painting, there is more than what meets the eye. The way in which he executed the piece is simple yet it still makes those who see the art wonder what it represents. As like any artwork, successes and failures can be found in Magritte s art and how well it portrays the meaning behind the piece. The Son of Man when examined closer, can be more interesting than one might think. Representation lies in every form of art. There is the literal representation, and there is the abstract figurative way of viewing. Simply, the painting shows a man with an apple in front of his face and a storm taking place behind him. Many think the fruit is referencing the tale of William Tell in which he shot an apple off his son s head. Since in Magritte s painting the fruit is floating in front of him, this alludes to him about to be shot in the face. Others quickly think religion inspired the work. The Son of Man sounds eerily close to Son of Man, which is Jesus title. Also, the green fruit could be from the famous tale of the Garden of Eden where Eve took a bite from an apple and committed the first sin. Neither of these are wrong, but Rene Magritte states, Well so you have the apparent face, the apple, hiding the visible but hidden, the face of a person... There is an interest in that which is hidden and which the visible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Reign Of Richard II Essay Chadwick Petty William Shakespeare Hum1030 The Reign of Richard II With Richard II, then, Shakespeare turns to the events that had launched England s century of crisis (Bevington, 2014). These events were still fresh and relevant to Elizabethan minds (Bevington, 2014). To begin with, we should not underestimate Richard s attractive qualities, as a man and even as a king (Bevington, 2014). Richard is consistently more impressive and majestic than his rival, Bolingbroke (Bevington, 2014). Richard fascinates us with his verbal sensitivity, his poetic insight, and his dramatic self consciousness (Bevington, 2014). These qualities notwithstanding, Richard is an incompetent ruler, compared to the man who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When John Gaunt died, Richard removed and exiled Bolingbroke. Bodies talk first in throughout Richard II primarily because indulgence, in the garden of England as in the Garden of Eden, is quickly branded the most significant threat to the stability of Richard s monarchy (Hoffmann, 2009). John of Gaunt may be the only character to understand that appetite is as much a matter of power as it is of desire, taste or need , and that to control appetite is to control power, but Richard himself perceives and worries over the same relationship (Hoffmann, 2009). Just as Genesis s garden of Eden, the cultural narrative of Richard s England demands that those judged guilty of overindulgence be banished, along with their intemperate appetites (Hoffmann, 2009). Richard II assumes, often to his own detriment, that his position at the top of the political food chain, while it may not render him immune from threats, still gives him prerogative to banish those threats before they materialize (Hoffmann, 2009). Furthermore, he executes these punishments without ever defining exactly what it is he is punishing (Hoffman, 2009). He responds to perceived threats not as examples/offshoots of his own vile participation, his own destructive appetites, but as already external menaces, monsters/monstrosities that necessitate banishment and imprisonment outside the borders of civilization (Hoffmann, 2009). Stanley s combined traits that include muscularity, masculinity, aggressiveness, and blondeness led me to choosing Dolph Lundgren as the actor who would play Stanley. Dolph Lundgren plays the antagonist Ivan Drago in the fourth Rocky movie versus Russia. He portrays an aggressive Russian (close to Polish) who has an aggressive attitude with no intention of backing down at anything unless he feels like backing down. This relates to Stanley for the obvious reasons of aggression but also in the fact that Stanley never backed down from trying to get Blanche to leave his home and his wife alone. The costume that Stanley would wear would resemble a wife beater and jeans most of the time, at least at home. This outfit fits his non traditional personality as well as his rough/manly military ... The character of this Trojan hero is dynamic and changes throughout the book. At the beginning of the book he acts like a great warrior should. He is the most brave out of all the Trojans. Hectorleads his army and never fails. In the later part of the book we see Hector as a brave warrior but we are also introduced to his other side, his fear of death. Although he, like all of the other warriors in the Ancient times, knows that through the battle he can earn his eternal glory, he cares more about his family and he knows that if the Trojan army fails, the Greeks will kill his son and take his wife as a slave girl. We first meet Hector when he is already on the battlefield and he is encouraging his brother Paris after he challenged great Greek warrior, Menelaus. Hector shows that he is an honorable man, and that fleeing and not fighting is not a way of a real Trojan hero. Paris brother tells him ...Would to god you d never been born, died unwed. Different Political Sysytems In the vast majority of political systems, which have gone through the processes of federalisation or decentralization, the courts have assumed a prominent role in resolving intergovernmental disputes. However, academics, such as Alan Trench and Robert Hazel, agree, that courts role in the working of devolution in the United Kingdomwas limited. They name political congruence in the UK as a main factor minimizing the role of the judiciary in the devolution process. There also is a number of secondary factors adding to it. Such as the limited role accorded to lawyers and legal issues in the UK s governmental system, the high degree of flexibility of the devolution settlements and a political nature of the UK s constitution, which favours resolution of intergovernmental disputes by means other than courts. Despite the chance that once devolution legislation comes into force, the case law builds up and devolved legislatures become more active, courts role is more likely to become more significant as a result of third party litigation, Alan Trench predicts that the role of courts in most intergovernmental matters is unlikely to change due to hindering factors mentioned above. Inevitably, colonized countries across the globe would have eventually requested sovereignty. Today, many decolonized countries are beginning to prosper and flourish; however, their path to such a state was long and challenging. The fluke in decolonization was not that it happened, but the way it did. Only concerned with self interest and prosperity domestically, European Empires were blinded to the consequences of abandoning their colonies without any guidance or support. Poor decolonization of Burma resulted in widespread oppression, downfall of the economy, and violation of human rights. • 15. Aristotle And Jean Jacques Rousseau And Rousseau On The... People such as Buddhist monks devote their lives to the search for virtue through isolation and meditation. Others believe that just simply living your life as a generous person and practicing self preservation is virtuous. These two different, yet similar ideas of virtuous living came from the two philosophers known as Aristotle and Jean Jacques Rousseauand their works in the Nicomachean Ethicsand Discourse on The Origin of Inequality. Aristotle believed that the individual had to meet multiple qualifications in order to truly be virtuous; rather than Rousseau who thought a virtuous person simply needed to preserve their own life and have the virtuepity, or defined by him as your natural impulses. While they both disagree on whether impulse or habit is the key to becoming virtuous or even what virtue is, they agree that we pursue the virtuous life in order to avoid pain. Jean Jacques Rousseau in The Origin of Inequality talks briefly about a savage man in the state of nature and what makes him virtuous. Rousseau said, Qualities that can harm an individual s preservation vices in him and those than can contribute to its virtues. In that case it would be necessary to call the one who least resists the simple impulses of nature the most virtuous, (35). When reading this, one can clearly see Rousseau depicts the virtuous person being the savage man who gives into his impulses. There has been only discontent and disunity . While in the United States there are people similar to Paine who strive for freedom and diversity, there are also those, as Walter Russell illustrates, who promote racism, violence, and disunity. Thomas Paine s viewpoint is mostly inaccurate because while there are times of peace, justice, and concord, there are far greater instances of oppression, privilege, and riots in America. Indonesia Trade Brief Introduction The KOF Index of Globalization ranks Indonesia 87th in the world in total globalization, below its immediate neighbors like Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines and well below Singapore. The country ranked 76th in economic globalization, 146th in social globalization and 39th in political globalization. The country s economic globalization score is based on trade flows and restrictions, equally. Indonesia s score in terms of economic trade is likely dragged down by its significant trade barriers. These barriers represent an obstacle to flourishing trade for Indonesia, which otherwise performs well in terms of its international trade profile. Data and Arguments The country s economy is in the trillion dollar class, and ranks 16th in the world, just below Canada and just above Turkey (CIA World Factbook, 2012). With ranks of 27th in the world for exports, 30th for imports, 34th for inbound FDI and 37th for outbound FDI (Ibid), Indonesia s flows are much greater than its globalization ranking would indicate. This points to trade barriers as being a drag on its KOF score. These figures at least to some extent tied to commodity prices, as Indonesia s exports and inbound FDI in particular are tied to its mineral and forest wealth (World Bank, 2010). Large and small corporations alike, as well as individuals are at risk of losing personal information to hackers, opening up doors to cyber attacks and theft. Statistics show that half of American adults have been hacked this year alone (Pagliery). Security experts and law enforcement say that hackers are actively scanning merchants networks for ways to gain remote access to their systems. The Department of homeland Security and Secret service recently, estimated that more than 1,000 businesses in the United States had been infected with malware programmed to siphon payment card details from cash registers. It is believed that many of these companies had no idea they were breached and sharing the information of thousands of customer s credit cardinformation. A main reason for concern with cybercrime is the scale of the problem. If it were a series of on off events people might be less concerned with it however, it is an ongoing problem. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When humans cognitively process faces this involves either holistic processing or configural processing. There is evidence that the processing of faces is done much more holistically than with objects as this comes from studies of inversion (Yin, 1969). An inverted face impairs the recognition and is much more difficult to encode than with other objects and this could be due to the spatial relations. In facial recognition a face model was created by Bruce and Young in 1986 and is one of the most influential face models to be created and is still used. It comprises of eight components: structural encoding, expression analysis, facial speech analysis, directed visual processing, face recognition nodes, person identity nodes, name generation and cognitive system. According to their face recognition model various types of information are acquired from faces. When recognising a familiar face, the components used depend largely on structural encoding, face recognition units, person identity nodes and name generation. In comparison with an unfamiliar face, the components used depend largely on structural encoding, expression analysis, facial speech analysis and directed visual processing. Primarily, I say Friar Lawrence is to blame for Romeo and Juliet s deaths because he did not involve Romeo in a plan to have Juliet appear dead,so she could get away from her parents, and get out of marrying Paris. First off, Friar Lawrence sent Friar John, but he did not get the message to Romeo, that he needed to go to the Capulet s tomb and get Juliet away when she wakes up. Because Romeo did not know about the poison, when Balthasar tells Romeo she was dead, he went to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To be specific, Friar Lawrence told Romeo when he and Juliet wanted Friar Lawrence to marry them, I stand on sudden haste. Wisely and slow, they stumble that run fast. Here he is saying to take things slow, don t rush things. Later on when Friar Lawrence and Juliet were trying to make a plan on how to avoid Juliet having to marry Paris the next day, and instead of making a well thought out plan, he quickly made one, and it failed. This shows that he is a hypocrite for not taking it slow, even though that s the advice he gave Romeo earlier. As a matter of fact, he then married Romeo and Juliet, trying to end the feud between their families, but later on he knew he would be punished if the families knew he married them. Also when people were coming towards the tomb, he wanted Juliet to run and stay with the nuns so no one would know what he did. Friar Lawrence also rushed the part of the plan involving Romeo, that part failed, and that is where is all went wrong. • 30. Essay On The Movie Whale Rider In the movie Whale Rider directed by Niki Caro, many important objects are used to foreshadow the later events involving protagonist Paikea Apirana, a young girl forbidden by tradition to become the chief of her tribe. Although the outcome of the film seems quite unprecedented at first, Director Caro conceals many clues regarding the ending for the audience to discover. She does this through the use of camera angles, dialogue and props, notably through the use of the rope, the Taiaha and the Rei Puta. Furthermore, while making links to certain scenes in the movie, Niki Caro has hidden life lessons and morals regarding discrimination, prejudice and leadership that the audience can closely relate to and learn from. Firstly, an important object in Whale Rider is the Rope. It is used to repair a motor, and is used by Koro to represent the tribe s ancestors. This is shown in the two shot of Koro and Paikea repairing the motor, and Koro s dialogue tells Paikea that each one of those threads is one of your ancestors, all joined together and strong . The rope is also important as it foreshadows Paikea becoming the Chief of the tribe. The rope is said by Koro to symbolise the ancestry and community of the people of Whangara, but Koro breaks that wire, thus breaking the community. However, Paikea mends the rope that Koro broke, foreshadowing the mending of the community that can be seen at the end of the movie. This is shown in a medium shot of Paikea mending the rope and even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Supreme Court made it clear with its ruling that, police do have the authority to stop or detain an individual for a questioning for a short term period without probable cause if he/she make have or about to commit a crime. This ruling is important because it gives police officer the authority to help protect him/herself as well as the community. It also puts steps in place to protect citizens from unreasonable search and seizure that is protected our Fourth Amendment right. In the case of Terry v. Ohio a police detective observed two men walking up and down a street several times and gazing into a store window. The officer observing conduct from the individuals that would lead him or her to suspect that a crime has already happened or about to happen is one of the necessities need to consider this as a valid stop. The officer identified himself as an officer of the law and began to inquire and request identification. The officer in this case followed the required guidelines for a valid stop. In return the Supreme Court ruled that this was a valid stop and frisk. According to United States Supreme Court TERRY v. OHIO, (1968) MR. JUSTICE HARLAN, concurring.
