Writing a cause and effect essay, especially one tailored for a college-level audience, presents a
considerable challenge. It requires a deep understanding of the chosen topic, a skillful analysis of
various factors contributing to the cause and effect relationship, and the ability to articulate
complex ideas in a clear and organized manner. The difficulty lies not only in presenting factual
information but also in establishing a compelling narrative that engages the reader.
Crafting a college-level cause and effect essay demands thorough research to gather relevant and
credible sources, as well as critical thinking skills to identify the primary causes and their
subsequent effects. It involves a meticulous organization of ideas, ensuring a logical flow that
leads the reader through the interconnected events or phenomena. Striking the right balance
between providing insightful analysis and avoiding unnecessary complexity is another challenge,
as the essay should be accessible to a diverse audience with varying levels of background
knowledge.
Moreover, maintaining a formal and academic tone throughout the essay is essential, requiring a
writer to demonstrate a command of language and an ability to express ideas coherently. The
process involves multiple drafts, revisions, and careful editing to refine the essay's structure,
coherence, and overall effectiveness.
In conclusion, writing a cause and effect essay for a college audience is a demanding task that
requires a combination of research skills, critical thinking, organization, and effective
communication. It demands time, effort, and dedication to produce a piece that meets the
academic standards and engages readers. For those seeking assistance, it's worth exploring

The immune system is comprised of two responses: the adaptive immune response
and the innate immune response. The first line of defence against invading organisms
is classified as the innate immune response and the second line of defence and
protection against re exposure to the same pathogen is known as the adaptive immune
response. Innate immune responses are known as the non specific manner which
composes the cells and defend the host from infection by other organism by
mechanism. The adaptive immunity represents the antigen specific immune
response. Compare to innate immune response, adaptive response is more complex.
In adaptive response the antigen needs to be recognised and processed. The adaptive

If a pathogen breaches barriers: innate immune response result into an immediate
effect of non specific response. All Innate immune systems derived from plants and
animals, when a pathogen evades the innate response, a third layer of protection is
possessed by vertebrates in which activation of adaptive immune system takes place.
The immune system response adopts itself within an infection and pathogen
recognition is improved. As a result of the improved response, its then retains itself
when the pathogen is eliminated in form of an immunological memory and allows
the adaptive immune system to mount faster and stronger when pathogen is
encountered each time. To be able to distinguish among self and non self molecules,
both immune and adaptive immunity depends on the ability of the immune system.
Self molecules are known as the components in which the body disguise itself from
foreign substances by immune system. Non self discrimination molecules are known
as the foreign molecules. One of its function is the antigen, this substance bind with
specific immune receptors and immune response elicit. When the pathogen replicates

3. The Discovery Of The New World
Ship Improvements
What were the events and improvements in ship design that lead to the discovery of
the New World and enabled the subsequent expansion in global trade? In this paper I
will examine the changes and improvements in European ship design that allowed for
the first transatlantic voyage to the New World. Though the Europeans were not the
first to develop the concept of the ship, they were the first to take this concept and
use it to cross the Atlantic. Even before Columbus sailed across the Atlantic to the
New World, Europe had a long maritime history. Before the 15th and 16th century
European ship design had been relatively slow to advance from its initial stages.
But during the 15th and 16th century European ship design accelerated at break
neck speeds to advance to the point of enabling the Age of Exploration. Dr.
Edwards states, The major difference in father oceanic sailing was the length of the
voyages between landfalls. Longer voyages meant larger crews to man watches
through twenty four hours, the need to carry larger stores of food, wood and
water, and the need for more spare equipment such as anchors and cables, sails, line
for rigging, lumber, metal work and gear for all kinds of repairs at sea or on distant
shores where such things are unavailable (Edwards. 443). To accomplish this feat
many improvements were required on earlier ship designs that were used in maritime
activities along the coast of Europe and in the Mediterranean. Though

French is the eleventh most widely spoken language in the world. It is the official
language of 33 countries in the world and it is spoken in two of the G7 countries.
200 million people around the world understand, speak, read or write French and
the language is the mother tongue of 75 million people. French is the official
language of postal services across the world and is one of the official languages of
the International Red Cross. The French speaking Africa represents an area larger
than the USA. French is the most widely taught second language after English and
over 20,000 English words have their origins in French. In terms of number of words,
French is the second largest language after English. In the humanities and the social
sciences many of the most important writings have come from France.
Students and researchers who know French have access to these works for several
years before they are translated into English. Many significant works are never
translated and remain accessible only to those who know the language.
Historically France and the French language have had an enormous influence over
American society. France was the United States first ally. French thought played a
dominant role among the founders of the United States in the 18th century, and it
continues to shape America today through the influence of such intellectual currents
as post structuralism and post modernism. In the humanities and the social sciences,

6. Essay On Triangle Fire
The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire was an infamous part of our history as a nation. The
fire began on the eighth floor of the Triangle Shirtwaist factory and quickly spread
all throughout the building. The fire took almost one hundred and fifty lives, most
of them being young women or girls. It was not just the fire that took so many
lives though, but women and men alike jumping from many stories up, to their
death, just to have a possibility to live. However, many women and men alike
were brought to safety by some of the students at the adjacent law school to the
factory. Elias Kanter and Charles T. Kremer, as well as other several students,
were able to put some ladders down to the same level as the roof of the factory and
help bring many people to safety. Kremer was even willing to go back down into
the factory while it was on fire and managed to save one poor girl whose hair was
on fire. Their bravery assuredly made a difference in the lives of numerous of the
factory workers. The smoke from the now roaring fire could be seen seeping out the

Depicting the Various Traits and Characteristics of Leadership in Literature
When discussing any triumphant or flourishing organization or institution, the main
attribute which will always surface when examining the true fabric of what allows a
particular organization or institution to excel, will always be leadership. Leadership
is portrayed at its pinnacle in William Bratton s Turnaround, Rudolph Giuliani s
book Leadership, Oren Harari s book The Leadership Secrets of Colin Powell, and
David Lipsky s book Absolutely American: Four Years at West Point. In each of
these works, the author does an exceptional job of depicting the various traits and

Bratton realized the task at hand and that it would not be easy. He knew he was
given the number one police job in the country as the commissioner of the NYPD,
and he was ready. He knew that nothing would be possible without the support of
his police officers. Morale was one of the big reasons that the NYPD was so run
down upon Bratton s arrival. He set out to the 103rd precinct in Queens to let them
know that things are about to change. Bratton carefully selected this precinct as the
one he would utilize in making his initial presence felt. Morale was exceptionally
low in this precinct due to the murder of Officer Ed Byrne. In February of 1988
Officer Byrne was sitting in his patrol car guarding the home of a man who had
informed on a drug dealer when he was shot to death by drug dealers. That was a
vicious indicator of the life and times of police officers during that era, and Bratton
knew it. As Bratton s first official act as police commissioner, he stood in front of
the 103 and began: I said when I took this job that we would take this city back for
the good people that live here, neighborhood by neighborhood, block by block,
house by house. But I m going to need your help in doing that. I m going to need
all of you in the game. I want my cops to be cops. I want them to be assertive. I don

matter what the old rules were, I expect you to see something and take proper police

Germany...
To what extent did the Treaty of Versailles weaken Germany Democratically, between
1919 to 1929?
The signing of the Treaty of Versailles on the twenty second of June in 1919, would
forever psychologically be associated with the long term bitterness and humiliation of
the German public towards the German democracy. The civilian government who
agreed to the terms of the treaty, which saw German suffer a deduction in their army,
forced to pay high reparations, deduction of land and population were after known as
the November Criminals. However factors such as nationalism, the democratic

It remained in Germany but Germany was forbidden to have any military forces in
the Rhineland and Austria became a separate country and any future union with
Austria was strictly forbidden. Germany was deemed by the Allied forces to be
colonially unworthy and lost all of her colonies, further angering and outraging
German nationalists who had once hoped of Germany having its day in the sun.
These terms saw nationalists outraged and constantly associating the government
with the much hated Treaty of Versailles, leading to revolts from the extreme right,
which highlighted the government s weakness without these important and
influential peoples support for the new Germany.
Soon after the new German Democratic Party was sworn in, there was the
immediate creation of a new constitution. The new constitution of 1919 guaranteed
the basic rights of the German people but it also had weaknesses that undermined
the functioning of the Democracy. The voting system of proportional
representation was one such weakness. This system allowed small political parties
to gain representation in the Reichstag. This resulted in political instability and the
need for frequent elections. No party was ever able to have the majority of seats
and every one of the 21 Weimar governments was a coalition government. With a
coalition it was seen to be impossible to produce effective laws for the German
people, as the majority of the coalition all had different views
9. The Theory Of Absurdism In The Stranger By Albert
Camus
By the time his novel The
Stranger was published, writer and philosopher Albert Camus had already firmly
established his theory of the absurd. Camus portrays this theory in The Stranger
through a fictional narrative surrounding a young man s life and murder trial.
Although his philosophy has its skeptics, an analysis of Camus background and
historical context reveals why his ideologies hold true in not only the ways people
live, but how society as a whole functions. To begin, what exactly is absurdism? Two
basic principles form the foundation of this theory: the first is that life is meaningless,
and the second is that there is no rational order in the universe (Aronson). The theory
of the absurd asserts that humans seek to understand their life s purpose, but since
life has no meaning, they must learn to endure this irresolvable emptiness. Absurdism
is often confused with another concept known as existentialism, which includes the
idea of an absurd world within its own definition. However, rather than believing
that people s lives are inherently meaningless, existentialists presume that life is
only meaningless if an individual does not carry himself with what is called
authenticity, the quality of living one s life according to one s own reasons and
motives (Crowell). It can be difficult to understand why Camus would develop such
a depressive ideology if one does not take in the historical context of the theory s
founding. Around the time period Camus was

11. Life Of Pi Character Analysis
Life of Pi, by the author Yann Martel is a fiction novel. I picked this novel because
fiction novels contain a high level of creativity. The way how fun often accompany
creativity when it comes to reading is a reason as to why I chose this book. Yes, this
book is on the AP list.
Life of Pi is a work that is hard to find just anywhere. Right from the start to the end,
especially in the middle of the book, there was always something that kept me on the
edge. Furthermore, the creativity of this book is on a different level. The amount of
detail and creativity Martel incorporated into this novel is undoubtedly one of the best
parts about this book. Life of Pi is a book that others would enjoy because it touches
on the relationship between humans and animals in a different, yet enjoyable way. In
addition, following the protagonist and his development as he overcomes obstacles in
the book would be an interesting experience for anyone.
Study sites reveal that believing in God during the hardest times is a main theme of
the book. Along with this theme, study websites also suggest the importance of
survival. One important theme that is apparent in the novel is that in the face of
death, humans can and will do anything to survive. Another theme that is stressed in
this novel is that anything can be overcome if you have the will and determination to
survive.
A character that only appeared briefly in the book but still had a significant presence
is the protagonist s mother.

government to unenlightened peoples. The idea was the driving force behind the
rapid expansion of America into the West from the East, and it was heavily promoted

James Marshall found gold while working for John Sutter at his ranch in northern
California on January 24, 1848. He had been hired to build a mill for Sutter. This
place would enter American lore as Sutter s Mill . Word quickly spread through
California, the rest of America and eventually the world and people flocked to
California to make their fortune. In fact, according to some estimates, the
population increased by 86,000 people in two years. Most of these treasure seekers
left for California in 1849, hence our name for them: 49ers. Next, the first lucky
arrivals were able to find nuggets of gold in the streambeds. These people made
quick fortunes. It was a unique time in history where individuals with literally
nothing to their name could become extremely wealthy. The gold was free for
whoever was lucky enough to find it. It is no surprise that gold fever hit so heavily.
Yet the majority of those who made the journey out West were not so lucky. The
individuals who became the richest were in fact not these early miners but were
instead entrepreneurs who created businesses to support all of the prospectors.
However, the Gold Rush reinforced the idea of Manifest Destiny. America was
destined to span from Atlantic to Pacific, and the accidental discovery of Gold made
California an even more essential
15. Similarities Between Ancient Greece And China Essay
1. Using three civilizations as examples, describe the concept of the Axial Age The
concept of axial age was introduced into the sphere of philosophical knowledge by
German existentialist philosopher Karl Jaspers for characterizing the period of
ancient history during about the 8th to the 3rd century BC. In this period of time we
have developed a fundamentally new religious beliefs and doctrines that promoted
human and cultural values of the era. Jaspers described the Axial Age as an
interregnum between two ages of great empire, a pause for liberty, a deep breath
bringing the most lucid consciousness. Jaspers argued that during the Axial Age, the
spiritual foundations of humanity were laid simultaneously and independently in
China, India, Persia, Judea and Greece. And these are the foundations upon which
humanity still subsists today. Consider, for example Greece, India and China. Ancient
Greece up to the 6th century BC was on a par with other civilizations by the level of
spiritual development. Hellenic culture range was one of those, whose coordinate
system covers the problems of family, God, nature and Eros. As a general rule, the
mentality of this culture consisted the two vectors Apollonian and Dionysian.
Dionysian beginning was aimed at the satisfaction of the instinctual needs, as
opposed to the Apollonian, whose essence consisted of creative and scientific
elements. The widespread fall of the monarchy and the actualization role of the nation

were 88% positive and 12% negative comments. Some people thought it was nasty
and gross to go without shoes in crowded or public areas, but the majority thought
that it supported a good cause and were willing as well as excited to join the

which is what we expected. However, similar to the analysis of the pre event date, the
number of mentions quite still pretty small. Most of the stream came from twitter.
We recommend Toms improve their campaign. Not entirely change the campaign
but make a minor change in order to make it more exciting and so that it is not
exactly the same every year. We think that this will help boost participation and
therefore awareness of the brands mission. One way Toms could accomplish this
is by arranging a video competition, which would ask people to make their own
video doing their daily activities barefoot. They would then be asked to post the
videos on Toms Facebook. Whomevers video got the most likes would win a
reward or prize. Perhaps even a trip to one of the countries where Toms gives there

19. Analysis Of Sarah Polley s Stories We Tell
At the beginning of Sarah Polley s 2013 Stories We Tell, a quote by Margret
Atwood appears and states that, In the end, we ll all become stories (Polley). This
quote leads to the main message of the film involving storytelling and the profound
significance it carries in life. As memories form, we reflect on them and the stories
that accumulate from those memories begin to define us. The film begins with Polley
presenting her storytellers, who are all part of the family. She simply asks her family
to tell the story, from the beginning, of her mother Diane. They have their own way
of disclosing facts about Diane, but it s how each person uniquely tells the story that
is most interesting. Whether filled with pleasure, sorrow, or regret, each subject
individually describes Diane s life. This reveals that how one is remembered or even
currently portrayed is established through the memories of others, mysteries and all.
Through the use of intimate interviews of her family members, Polley successfully
investigates the reconstruction of her mother s existence. The memories and stories
families collectively tell, even if they are unclear, are what define the truth. Each
person s honesty reveals his or her perspective on the story of Diane. The film
uncovers details of the marriage of Sarah s dad Michael and mom Diane. Each
sibling describes Diane as exciting and Michael as more mellow. The family
members then continue describing the in s and out s of Diane s family, life, and

example it is very natural to shut off the memory in order to self defense suppresses
the awful emotional experience. Very often it is thoughtful that this neglecting and
abandoning is the best way to forget. In Toni Morrisons novel Beloved, memory is
depicted as a dangerous and deliberating faculty of human consciousness. In this
novel Sethe endures the oppression of self imposed prison of memory by revising
the past and death of her daughter Beloved, her mother and Baby Suggs. In Louise

She must have nursed me two or three weeks that s the way the others did (pg 73).
Again here we see how milk to a child is important to Sethe because it is the only
interaction that she had with her daughter Beloved and her nameless mother. Even
though Sethe tries to understand and cope with the past, Beloved generates a
metamorphosis in Sethe that allows her to speak what she had thought to be the
unspeakable.
With Beloved s arrival and back into Seth s life, Sethe also feels the need of going
back into the memory of Baby Suggs, her mother in law. Baby Suggs held religious
gatherings at a place called the clearing, where she taught her followers to love their
voices, bodies and minds. However, after Sethe s act of infanticide, Baby Suggs
stops preaching and retreats to a sick bed to die. Accompanied by Denver and
Beloved, Sethe feels the need to go to the clearing where Baby Suggs used to
preach. Baby Suggs long distance love was equal to any skin close love she had
known. The desire, let alone the gesture, to meet her needs was good enough to lift
her spirits to the place where she could take the next step (pg 112). In this section the
memory of Baby Suggs also comes onto the surface, making Sethe want to remember
her death by the presence of Beloved.
Similar to Toni Morrison s novel Beloved, Erdrich s novel Love Medicine shows
characters also dealing with memory of death and the
21. Strengths And Weakness Characteristics Of Dyslexia
The British Psychological Society (1999) gave a definition of dyslexia; dyslexia is
evident when accurate and fluent word reading and / or spelling develops very
incompletely or with great difficulty.
After completing several assessments with Angela, the profile from her results
suggest a profile that is normally associated with the strengths and weakness
characteristic of dyslexia.
During the testing, she demonstrated great enthusiasm for the tasks, and perseverance
while she was doing some of the more challenging ones. Angela has a very positive
attitude to everything she does and this is one of her strengths.
Angela s overall underlying ability falls in the below average range. Her reading and
spelling skills are below average ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Difficulties with short term and working memory and sequencing are common in
dyslexia. This can contribute significantly to problems with reading, and with
following verbal instructions, remembering information, concentrating, and
maintaining a train of thought, especially in a busy classroom.
Below average scores in tests concerned with recalling information, working memory
and low concentration would all have an impact on Angela s ability to acquire
literacy skills. They are also all potential indicators of dyslexia. For example, the
spoonerisms sub test, which Angela found very difficult to complete, involves the
short term auditory memory/working memory, because you must remember two
separate sounds while you switch them around, for example top cat = cop tat.
Recommendations Angela should be able to make good progress with additional
help in her weaker areas, and I recommend that her response to any intervention
should be monitored closely and reassessed after three months. She needs a
multisensory teaching programme designed around her needs and ability, with steps
built in boosting her confidence and self esteem. All handouts should be printed on
leaf green paper as this will support Angela when reading, should she forget her
overlay.
Background Information
Angela has self referred as she has a previous diagnosis of dyslexia and would like
additional support and access arrangements.

Introduction
Kansei measuring in Kansei Engineering is built on existing theories and methods.
The new aspect with Kansei Engineering is the composition and usage of tools from
different areas within engineering, psychology and mathematics. This chapter
provides the reader some of the most important tools and techniques.

A zombie apocalypse is a terrifying thing to imagine, but with an effective, well
thought out emergency plan civilization can be better prepared for this catastrophe.
As chief of police and fire, we are imbedded with the responsibility of help and
guidance to citizens during this time of crisis. Our main priorities would be
evacuation, communication, public safety, and crime prevention.
As chief of police and fire, we would recommend all citizens make their way to one
of our military safe zones, or shelters, and wait for evacuation. We will evacuate
citizens based on need. The elderly, injured, and disabled will be our first priority
of getting out of the city. Since they will be the least fit to protect themselves and
others in case of emergency, it is essential to have help from caregivers and family
members when transporting those less fortunate. Evacuation will happen during
daylight hours to minimize possible complications. Furthermore, no more than
fifty people will be evacuated at a time to help keep evacuations as safe and quick
as possible. We will evacuate citizens by plane to nearby uninfected cities and
further plans for survival will be discussed upon their arrival. If citizens choose to
evacuate on their own, we recommend they travel east or west by car or plane. That
being said, we highly recommend that all of our citizens choose our method of
evacuation. This will keep infection, injuries, and casualties low so all of our citizens
can have the best chance

Choice. He has no real choice does he? Self interest, fear of physical pain, drove him
to that grotesque act of self abasement. Its insincerity was clearly to be seen. He
ceases to be a wrongdoer. He cease also to be a creature capable of moral choice. A
quote from the prison priest in A Clockwork Orange . The main focus of this book is
the discussion of free willin society, however touches upon several other ideas in such
as brutality, immaturity in youth, and morale choices. As well as how Burgess uses
language and characters to emphasize these points which will be presented in this
essay.
This paragraph will be discussing about the topic of the necessity of free will in
humanity and this is depicted in the novel. This idea is repeatedly mentioned
throughout the book especially by F.Alexander and the prison priest. The idea that
they mention is that without choice and free will, man is no longer human but a
clockwork orange, a mechanism designed by a exterior force that is disguised in
human flesh. Free will is a necessity for human life but it becomes a problem when
we extend that power to the community as a whole as we can see in the novel. This
is proven when Alexs commits his several acts of unprovoked violence. A

Another preventative step for the social worker is to seek out individual therapy for
himself as a manner in which to deal with the stressors associated with the helping
profession. This has been highly recommended by several instructors during my
masters level education.
When I consider the risk factors discussed, I find that my weight and overall physical
health are most significant in placing me at risk of compassion fatigue. Failing to
have a nutritious diet has caused an increase in weight and multiple lower level
health needs such as back pains and headaches. When you factor this in with the
stress of working a full time job and being a full time student, it compounds the
problem as eating tends to be my coping mechanism of choice. I also have minimal
intimate friendships due to lack of time to engage with others outside the workplace.
A lack of these intimate relationships fails to provide me an outlet to the stress that
is outside my family. Given the source of the stress is at work, confidentiality limits
what I can and cannot say to my wife.
With those risk factors, two protective factors that I see benefiting me is my spiritual
support system and sense of strong professional boundaries. My faith has pulled me

28. The Effects Of Hunting On The World Of Hunting
The hunting society has changed drastically throughout the years due to
developmental studies with technology a huge game changer in the world of
hunting, and with the impact of over population of deer in the U.S has made a big
impact on our crops and forests, and how hunting can be good for your health with it
providing exercise and healthy eating. I will now begin to skim the surface of these
subjects.
Hunting is a very controversial subject that has only become more sensitive now
days. Some say that hunting is murder, destroying the environment due to the
possibility of exceeding proper limitations. Most hunters are out there to bag a
trophy buck known for their big body size and large racks, which is not a bad idea
due to the facts that removing an alfa male from the area will normally cause the
female deer to move to look for another alfa male causing them to leave the area, in
which could help or destroy that areas. (MILNER) A study by R. Swilhart in 1997,
shows there were over 20 million deer in the U.S alone and still growing estimating
100 deer/square mile. (Swilhart) These ever growing numbers are destroying our
crops and forests. Forest service s researcher Stephen Horsley made this assessment,
The current density is producing devastating and long term effects on forests. For
aging deer vacuum up the seedlings of highly preferred species, reducing plant
diversity and in the extreme, creating near mono cultures. It could take decades or
even hundreds of years to

Change blindness occurs when the observer does not noticed any changes in their

30. Individuality And Morality In A Clockwork Orange
A Clockwork Orange: Individuality, Morality, and Growing Up
Anthony Burgess s novel, A Clockwork Orange, presents a struggle between
animalistic urges and mechanistic society by way of the motif of a clockwork
orange. Many would agree that a clock and an orange share little in common other
than the fact that they may both be round. However, the organic nature of an orange
combined with the precision and mechanics of a clock curiously imitates the way
people respond to everyday influences. Anthony Burgess capitalizes on the
differences between these two seemingly unrelated objects to present the connection
between morality and conformity within the confines of the novel s narrator, Alex.
Throughout the three parts of the novel, it becomes more apparent that every
seemingly harmless life can be manipulated by the clockwork of society. Alex is a
young boy living in the near future, whose obsession with the brutality of the world
around him causes him to act violently. The portrayal of the character Alex as both a
protagonist and an antagonist highlights the psychological turmoil associated with
conforming to society by sacrificing either morality for individuality or individuality
for morality.
The word faithful is often misinterpreted as always having a positive connotation. The
dictionary definition of faithful, adhering or true to fact, a standard, an original , can
be interpreted more widely (Dictionary.com). In the beginning of A Clockwork
Orange, Alex refers to himself

Most Filipino families have family living abroad. My family is one of those. My
grandparents lived in Barrow, Alaska the majority of their lives. When I was six,
they convinced my mom to bring her family to America. After six months of testing
and vetting, we were on our way to Alaska. As a six year old I did not think much of
it, not until it was actually happening. When we were driving to the airportI had a
moment of realization that I was going to be riding in an airplane for the first time
of my life. It was always my dream to go inside an airplane because everyday of my
life in the Philippines, I would see airplanes flying high above our house everyday,
and I would always imagine myself inside the airplane and what it looks like. To
this day, I still have a vivid memory of my first experience traveling in an airplane.
My first time flying was a defining moment in my life because it was the beginning
of the transition to my new life in a new country. After getting through all the
security checks and screening checks, we finally reached the actual fun part of the
airport. I found out that waiting in the airport was an actual experience itself. It
was basically a mall with designer stores like Prada and Rolex. As my sister and I
were looking at expensive jewelry in the one of the airport stores, my mom called us
to get in line for boarding. My heart started to pound faster and faster as we got closer
to the kiosque because I knew that I was getting closer and closer

Internationally recognized companies such as Nike make use of sweatshops and
aid in the exploitation of labor workers in many parts of the world. A sweatshop is
an industrialized provision that is known to have poor working conditions,
infringement of labor law, and long hours coupled with low wages. In today s
world, sweatshops are prevalent all across the globe; however they raise the most
concern in developing nations. Nike is one of the world s most renowned sportswear

As a company, Nike is extremely profitable; it is the biggest shoe company and has
become the fourth biggest industry leader. Nike can easily afford to increase
wages of people that do labor work for the company without even the slightest loss
but unfortunately chooses not to. According to the SEC, In 2007, Nike s
advertising budget was $678 million. Realistically, Nike could pay all its individual

Hey Mom, why couldn t we get the extra fruit today? I really wanted some

Well honey, it costs to much, we can t afford it.
But why mommy?

The debate concerning where California s water supply should go, is between
allowing farmers to have it, or sending it to streams to help the Chinook Salmon.
Since California s drought has been going on for 5 years now, where the water
should go is a great concern to most. If the unassigned water in California is not sent
to the farmers then jobs will be lost, food prices will rise even more so than they
already are, and the groundwater and surface water will be negatively affected.
Agricultural related jobs accounts for about 9.3% of jobs in the U.S, but in reality all
jobs rely on agriculture. Restaurants depend on farmers to grow fruit so that way
they can use it in their delicious desserts, and the steak that they served, a farmer
raised that. So if the water is sent towards the streams, then jobs will be lost. Simply
because the farmers would have to pay more for their water and they would have to

34. The Presidential Debate On The American System Of...
A constructive national debate is something that is quite important to the
functioning of the American system of democracy. A simple definition of
democracy offered by the Merriam Webster dictionary is that democracy is a form
of government in which people choose leaders by voting (Merriam Webster). Now,
at a time of heightened awareness from many American people, the political
debates in this country don t seem to be providing them with good cogent
arguments. Instead they are filled with fallacies and many falsehoods. In this
essay I argue that the presidential debate system is currently not living up to its
potential, and I will focus specifically on Republican primary debate that took
place at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California. In doing so, I will argue that
the main flaws in this cycle s presidential primary debates were the amount of
fallacies used, as structure used as well as provide some counter arguments to my
claims. In order to have a government that is run by people; specifically, people that
must choose a candidate to vote for, its seems fit that it would be important that there
be adequate means of illustrating each candidate s positions on all of the issues that
the constituents care about. Presidential debates are the means of showcasing a
candidates policies to the nation and at the same time they allow the citizens in the
democratic society to make a more informed decision about their vote than they
otherwise would have without a debate.

In the year 1940, Plath s father died due to the gangrene in his leg that was caused
by untreated and possibly an unrecognizable form of diabetes. Plath was greatly
affected by the loss of her father, which inspired her to move to Wellesley,
Massachusetts. Plath achieved a full scholarship to Smith College; however, prior to
attending Smith College, she had already published a story, And Summer Will not
Come Again, and a poem, Ode on a Bitten Plum, which was published in Seventeen
Magazine.
As time progressed, Plath fought many inner, deep battles within herself, which
involved marriage, sexuality, chastity, and her career, thus leading to her mental
breakdown. Her morale did not improve any further or at all when she was rejected
from a summer writing course at Harvard. On April 1, 1960, her daughter, Freida
was born. Now that she had a child, she found very little time to write. She felt like
there was no exit and that she was being held down with nowhere to go and nobody
to talk to. To make matters worse, her husband, Ted Hughes, kept publishing articles,
poems, and books. By Hughes continuation of publication, he was indirectly rubbing
it in Plath s face. With Plath s deteriorating health and severe depression, she had a
miscarriage while pregnant with her second child in February of 1961. The
following year, she tried for another, and her son Nicholas Farr was born. Meanwhile,

Furthermore, this negative thinking also influences to soldiers fighting ability
which is the basic ability for soldiers. They are going to hate training time for army
skills, also. Finally, this bad cycle continues. It causes rising social cost for their
low achievement and for retraining them. Government pays this cost which came
from the people s taxes. It is not a reasonable way for a nation at all. These
problems can be fixed by the volunteer military system. This system does not force
young people to join the army. Furthermore, soldiers can have enough vacation and
get enough salary, because joining the army is the same as getting a job in this
system. It prevents infringement of human rights which is the first problem of
draft policy. This system can fix the second problem of draft policy, also. Negative
attitudes of soldiers who are conscripted into army will be changed to positive way,
because they will think that they are not suppressed any more. The rate of
violence and desertion in the army will be reduced. Moreover, soldiers can get
more salary or time for vacation if they work hard in the army. Therefore, works in
the army will progress efficiently and fast. Finally, the government will not waste
people s money for costs such as retraining soldiers. It might be very difficult to
change at once. Therefore, it must be changed steadily and gradually. For example,
the government can
37. Cosmetic Surgery As A Medical Tool
Beauty, who doesn t want it? People have always wanted to look beautiful in other
people eyes. Since the first day human being appeared on Earth, we ve always
wanted to change and improve our self images; therefore, in early twentieth century,
when the medication has reached high level in changing people s flaws by surgery,
more and more people find plastic surgeryand cosmetic surgery as the beauty tools.
Today the number of people who seeking for plastic surgery has increased
dramatically, despite the fact that besides all beauty benefits it bring back there are
also negative impacts that people should also considered before deciding to do it.
People first find cosmetic surgery as a medical tool to enhance their body and
their appearance. According to Northrop, During and after World War II many
people get injured and most parts of their bodies mutated into different kind of
shape and size that many people find that not acceptable to appear in front of other
people (22). Diana Zuckerman argues that people came to plastic surgery with a
purpose to fix their flaws such as lips, noses, and ears correction. It would bring
great benefits for people especially children because being able to fix those flaws at
the young age is the best option due to the changing body and the wounds would
heal faster than old people. She found it more acceptable than other types of plastic
surgery ( Teen and Cosmetic Surgery ). Plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery
38. The Symbolism Of The Boston Massacre
On the night of March 5th 1770, chaos broke out into the streets Boston. Colonists
went to King Street, weapons in hand and ready to fight. Soldiers stood by the
Customs House, Bayonets at ready. Colonists went against British soldiers on King
Street, creating more unrest between Britain and the Colonies. The Stamp Act, the
Sugar Act, and many more laws and taxes from Britain made colonists upset. Many
people, like the Sons of Liberty, wanted to break away from Britain and be
independent. All of the tension between Britain and the Colonies led to the Boston
Massacre. A popular myth about the BostonMassacre was it was one sided, soldiers
overpowered helpless colonists. In reality, colonists played a large role against
soldiers during the Boston Massacre. Colonists not fighting back was perpetuated
by Paul Revere s engraving, The Bloody Massacre in King Street . The engraving
can be considered propaganda of the Sons of Liberty, used to push their ideologies.
Colonists in the Boston Massacre fought against soldiers, they weren t as helpless
as people were led to believe. Theodore Bliss, a man who was there that night,
reported, I saw people throw snowballs... [and] a stick about 2 feet long strike a
soldier upon the right. (Doc 3). This quote proves the claim because it shows people
were throwing things and even hitting soldiers with sticks to hurt them, not being
pushed back and being helpless. Another man, Benjamin Burdick was also at the
Boston Massacre, arriving at 9pm,
39. Alain De Botton On Habit Summary
A common mindset individuals may have is that our lives are defined by our
environment and what is on ahead of us in a daily basis. It is a wide held belief that
our surroundings affect our ideology and the way we live our daily lives to a vital
extend. In On Hobit , Alain De Botton embeds our perspective, the idea of an
individual having control over their life, but it is at odds when he questions the
stance individuals have on their lives. Throughout the essay, it becomes apparent that
although our environment may greatly affect the atmosphere of who an individual
becomes, the most important factor should be the way the environment is perceived.
One must allow themselves to find value within the small details of life. We have

swore at St. Edmund s altar that they would obtain from King John the ratification
of Magna Charta. Another interesting historical aspect of the Abbey Gardens is the
Norman gate. This gate, which was built in 1347, is considered the new gate
because it was built to replace the original, much older gate after the town s people
burned it down. There are also various plaques around the town that highlight the
town s history, such as the plaque on the Angel Hotel saying that Charles Dickens
once stayed there. The city is also home to the final resting place of Mary Tudor,
sister of King Henry VIII and Queen of France. Bury also has many fun aspects of
British culture, such as the annual Christmas tree lighting in the town center and
pantomimes in the town s Theatre Royal around Christmastime. My family goes to
the Christmas pantomime, a fun and silly British play based on a fairytale, in Bury
every year. Each year they do a different pantomime and include aspects of the local
area and popular things from that year into the
41. High Stakes Testing Summary
The Washington Post published the story 2015 Superintendent of the Year: High
stakes testing is the fool s gold of accountability by Valerie Strauss on August 27
about one superintendent s discontent with constant high stakes testing . Strauss was
covering the story of man who was named the 2015 American Association of School
Administrators National Superintendent of the Year , Philip D. Lanoue who is the
superintendent of the Clarke County School District in Georgia, which is one of the
most impecunious districts in the state. Lanoue believes that the constant pattern of
standardized testing in schools is completely different from what he refers to as actual
meaningful assessment and considers the tests to be unbeneficial for students.... Show

All in all, the testing seems like a punishment for both the educator and the pupil
just for the sake of assessing the progress of each school as well as creating
unreliable statistics for the public. I believe Lanoue s plan of action could be very
beneficial to schools across the country if they were willing to implement his ideas,
at least as an experiment to see how well it progressed in other schools. After all, he
was named superintendent of the year for a reason, and his ideas deserve the right to
be further evaluated in actual classrooms to measure the
42. The Executive Branch Of Government
The Executive Branch and the Presidents The Executive Branch is the branch of
government that enacts and enforces the law. The head of the Executive Branch is
the President of the United States. The President of the United States has seven roles
that he must fill as President. These roles are the Chief of State, Chief Executive,
Commander in Chief, Legislative leader, Chief of Party, Guardian of economy and
Chief Diplomat. In these roles, the President awards metals to college scholarship
winners, makes a patriotic speech on the Fourth of July and enforces the law.
Furthermore, the President chooses officials, writes the speeches for Ambassadors
who are traveling to foreign countries, creates foreign policies, controls the Armed
Forces, Finally, the President influences Congress in... Show more content on

The members of the Cabinet include the Vice President, Attorney General and the
Secretaries of the fifteen Executive departments. These departments are the
Department of Agriculture, Department of Commerce, Department of Defense,
Department of Education, Department of Energy, Department of Health and Human
Services, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Housing and Urban
Development, Department of Interior, Department of Labor, Department of State,
Department of Transportation, Department of Treasury, and Department of Veterans
Affairs. The Executive Branch, like the Legislative and Judicial branches, has many
checks and balances to ensure the balance of power within the branches of
government. The Executive Branch can declare Executive orders, proclamations that
are treated like laws; however, the judicial branch can declare these proclamations
unconstitutional. Furthermore, the President can veto laws that he does not feel are
necessary in the United States government. Meanwhile, a two thirds vote in both the
Senate and the House of Representatives can override this Presidential

It has been a decade since Kolkata s Saint of Gutters , Mother Teresawent home to
God. But Missionaries of Charity, the order established by Mother in 1950, still
continues to feel her divine presence around. The moment one enters the premises
of Mother s House on AJC Bose Road in central Kolkata, one is overwhelmed by a
feeling of warmth, peace and serenity like one has never experienced before. Two
days before her tenth death anniversary, the spirit of Mother Teresa rests in peace
in a white marble tomb, built in the middle of Mother s House, and is surrounded
by devotees, who sit with their heads bowed, paying a silent tribute to the lady who
gave up everything to serve the poorest of the poor . Service to the poorest of the
poor still continues to be the fundamental article of faith in Missionaries of Charity.
Jesus is the bread of life is written in flowers over Mother s tomb, and a soft
fragrance of incense wafts through the air to create an aura of unmatched divinity.
The room adjacent to Mother s tomb holds her possessions and
44. Social Criticism In Kate Chopin s The Awakening
America s culture today pushes for individual accomplishment and happiness. Many
people are prioritizing their own personal aspirations over assuming the traditional
male and female roles in society. However, this outlook has not always been the status
quo; the twentieth century brought upon radical new ideas, completely transforming
societal norms that had been in place for centuries. In the late nineteenth century,
Kate Chopin took extreme criticism after publishing her novel The Awakening
because of her provocative portrayal of the protagonist, but today her book is
admired as one of the greatest works in American history. As the morally ambiguous
main character Edna Pontellier struggles between filling her role as a mother and...

On page 57, her husband s frustrations become clear when he says, ... paint! but don t
let the family go to the devil. There s Madame Ratignolle; because she keeps up her
music, she doesn t let everything else go to chaos. One can understand his point of
view very easily; he s a hardworking man, providing all the income for his family,
and his wife has ultimately quit completing her share of responsibilities to the
household. On the other hand, Edna is tired of being tied down by the roles she is
expected to fill. By choosing to develop her skills as a painter over sticking to her
duties as a housekeeper, Edna is finally aligning her actions with her inner desire for
independence.
Some of the boldest steps Edna takes to embrace her individuality come towards
the end of the book. For instance, despite anticipating the criticism of others, she
moves away from her family and into a smaller house around the block to live on
her own because she likes the feeling of freedom and independence, (80). She also
starts pursuing other men, eventually breaking her marital fidelity, as a way of
asserting her freedom as an individual woman who refuses to conform. Chopin uses
the previous examples to demonstrate the existential identity crisis Edna faces
throughout the book. She wants to be a good mother for her children, but she also
wants to be truly happy in her life. Rather than suppressing this burning desire inside
her, Edna chooses to follow it and disregard

46. Determining The Gravity ( G ) On The Period ( T ) Of...
Abstract:
The aim of the experiment was to determine the gravity (g) on the period (T) of
oscillation pendulum has a simple harmonic motion (SHM). A stopwatch was used
to measure the time taken for 10 complete cycles, which called oscillations. The
length of the pendulum was varied for fixed mass and recorded in table 1. The
output result for this experiment was agreed with the theory. The graph plotted and
got R2=0.99, which was close to the linearity 1.
Introduction:
The motion repeats itself at regular intervals is called periodic, oscillation, or simple
harmonic motion (SHM). The time taken of an object to moves from the starting
position and back to the original positions it s known as period (T). The frequency
(f) related to the period (T) as F=1/T, which is defined how many oscillation occurs
in one second.
The acceleration is the distance and direction from the equilibrium position for any
oscillation object.
The acceleration in any simple harmonic motion is opposite to the direction of the
displacement, and it s proportional to the displacement from the equilibrium.
Breithaupt, J. (2010).
In this experiment the pendulum was oscillate until it s comes to the equilibrium
position, this happened according to the gravity force, this force always acts in a
direction towards the equilibrium position, which is known as the restoring force.
The aim of this experiment is to determine a value for the gravitation (g) of a
pendulum has an oscillation motion. By

Philippines Research Paper 30,000 years ago, it is believed that the Negritos have
migrated to the Philippines from Borneo, Sumatra, and Malaya. Following that, the
Malayans followed in successive waves. The Malayan culture has survived to this
day among certain groups such as the Igorots. The later Malayan tribes that came had
more highly developed cultures. In the 14th century, Arab traders introduced Islam to
the islands and extended their influence. In 1521, the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand
Magellan led an expedition around the world, and one of his resting points was in
the Philippines. One of the other Spanish expeditions was in 1542 by LГіpez de
Villalobos from Mexico, who named the islands after Philip II. An expedition by

In February, 1899, Aguinaldo led a new revolt, the Philippine American War. The
U.S. captured of Aguinaldo on March 23, 1901 and in 1902, President Theodore
Roosevelt proclaimed a full and complete pardon and amnesty to all people in the
Philippine archipelago who had participated in the conflict, effectively ending the
war. After World War II, Manuel Roxas became the first president of the Republic of
the Philippines when independence was granted, as scheduled, on July 4, 1946 from
the United States. As time went along, the Philippines had more presidents after
Roxas, including Elpidio Quirino, Ramon Magsaysay, Carlos P. GarcГa, and
Diosdado Macapagal, all who served 4 year terms. Then, the president after
Macapagal, Ferdinand E. Marcos, served as president from 1965 to 1986. During
this time, government corruption and civil disorder increased. After a series of
fraud attempts in the 1986 elections, Marcos lost his support and Corazon Aquino
became president. In 1992, Fidel Ramos succeeded Aquino and Joseph Marcelo
Estrada was elected as president in 1998. In November, 2000, Estrada was
impeached by the House of Representatives and in 2001 the Supreme Court stripped
him of his power and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was sworn in as Estrada s successor.
On June 30, 2010, Benigno Aquino III became the president of the Philippines.
