that his learning social skill has never been what it should have been growing up.
He had a hard time learning the information in school, which is while it took him

3. The French Of French History
For the duration of French history, those in high positions of power have endeavored
to create and control culture in their personal interest. Countless rulers comprehended
that the portrayal of power, in contemporary conditions what would be described as
an image, is an embodiment of authority in itself. Cleverly, artists, artisans and
intellectuals were employed as patrons on behalf of the ruling forms of government,
manufacturing pieces that declared the validity of their power, fortified their
supremacy, and intensified their stature. Often, the artistic urges of the artists behind
the pieces were suppressed, conflicting personal impulse with the goals of ruling
government. The correlation between power and politics, and thus the French
cultured yielded through such a calculated relationship, is tainted by the very
progenitors of the culture itself. The so called achievements of French history are
exacted as much by dissension and censorship as much as they are exacted by
collaboration and patronage. In accordance with such an awareness of the true
circumstances of French government and its intimate relationship with culture, most
notably in the absolutist monarchy under Louis XIV, art becomes an invaluable
resource meant to be utilized as a tool for the uncovering and understanding the
realities of the time period, and its correlation with the politics, economics and social
structures of late 17th century France (Leffler). By understanding the motives behind

1 out of every 3 teenagers will experience some form of domestic violence within a
relationship before they turn 25. Out of these people, only 1 out of every 3 will tell
someone about it (PDVG). Dating violence among teenagers has risen alarmingly in
the past few years, and unfortunately many people in this age group do not have the
maturity or common sense to recognize warning signs of an unhealthy relationship.
Due to this, many teenagers become trapped in toxic relationships and it can damage
them mentally and physically. Domestic violenceamongst teens is a complicated,
touchy subject with complex causes that can cause many psychological effects as
well as lead to problems for the teenage victims later in life. Abusive behavior in
teenage relationships can stem from many different complicated sources.
According to a study on teen dating abuse done by Liz Claiborne 72% of teens say
that serious boyfriend/girlfriend relationships usually start at the age of 14. At this
young age, many teens are easily influenced by what they see around them and are
unable to properly channel their emotions. Due to their impressionability, seeing
violence and aggression around them, especially if they themselves have or have
had an abusive family member, can cause teens to believe it is acceptable to act this
was towards others. Teen dating violence as it is often called, can also be caused by
mental illnesses such as depression, paranoia, or schizophrenia. Teenagers with these,

The Memorable Challenges Life could change in the blink of an eye, most times
for the worse, just imagine being under 1500 pounds. Or just coming inches away,
and then having to do the same thing that put you in that situation. I remember that
one summer evening that scared the living bejesus out of me and could ve put me
in the hospital like it was yesterday. The person that made me get back on and ride,
my greatest influence. Her name is Tara, she s my coach, and I look up to her
because she s a diligent worker and pushes everyone in my lesson to do our best. It
was a typical summer evening on a Friday, the day I have all my lessons, and the
day I fell off my horse. It was a pretty ordinary lesson besides what was about to
happen, also that another girl fell off her horse. My trainer has helped me before
with my horse when he s tried to gallop around with me on his back, so I was never
scared about falling off. Also, because I knew that my horse would never try to
hurt me, and he never tried, he just slipped... Before any of this happened we have
my mentor and influencer making my legs, arms, back, and core more powerful. It
was our lesson before a show, so I guess the horses were extra jumpy and
enthusiastic, which was making us a little more nervous. We started like any
normal lesson, just another girl fell off her eager horse, but she got back on like
anyone would do. My coach told us if anyone else fell off then we have to pay her
somewhere around $1500, little did

In the experiment, I set up the 24 plate well, and added each solution one by one
while keeping track of which liquid was in which well. I lit my burner with
matches and started assembling my make shift cotton toothpicks. My Q tips were
plastic, so I (with gloved hands) ripped the cotton off the swab and wrapped it
around a toothpick. I then proceeded to dip the cotton in and wait a second or two
before waving it through the flame.
I noticed the color change with the sodium immediately, but with the others it took
a bit longer. I repeated the process with each liquid three times just to be sure.
Especially with the Potassium, as it was very difficult for me to discern the color
change. I tried to eliminate any major errors by taking my time and redoing the
experiment a few times, but I did spill a bit of the liquid as a cut the pipets open.
Also, my swabs may have been previously contaminated by the salt on our skin due to

11. Contribution Of Sylvia Plath Poetry
Sylvia Plath s life shown in her work
Sylvia Plath is often be described as a feminist poet who wrote about the difficulties
women faced before women s right were a mainstream idea. The essayist Thomas
McClanahan wrote, At her brutal best and Plath is a brutal poet she taps a source of
power that transformers her poetic voice into a raving avenger of womanhood and
innocence . It is quite obvious that Plath s feminism is extremely important to her
poetry, but she also wrote about a lot of day to day experiences and made them
significant through her use of metaphors and symbolism. Plath may also be best
known for her autobiographical poetry written in confessionalist style that
appeared during the 1950s. She is considered an important poet of the post World
War II era. She became widely known following her suicide in 1963. Through
Sylvia Plath s poetry readers are able to explore her life. The particular time and
place in which she wrote her poetry, the death of her father, her failed marriage, her
battle with depression and others who influenced her all lead to the writing of
some of her most cherished works. By aligning the works of Sylvia Plath alongside
the events in her life, one is able to get a better understanding of her work and her as
a woman in the era that she lived in.
Born on October of 1932, she grew up in a strong academic family environment in
Winthrop Massachusetts. Plath would, later on, dedicate a poem to Winthrop and
the surrounding areas called Point Shirley, where she attempts to create a vivid
image of the coast while using a sort of serious and depressing tone. Plath says,
From Water Tower Hill to the brick prison / The shingle booms, bickering under
/ The sea s collapse ( Point Shirley ). She describes the town as almost bland and
uninteresting. Her father, Otto Plath, was a German professor of Biology, an
entomologist, and also authored a book about bees; which would later become the
subject of many of Plath s later poems. Her mother, Aurelia Plath was pursuing a
career in teaching when she met Sylvia s father. At the age of eight, Sylvia Plath
published her first poem, her father would die that same year. This would be the
beginning of her career as a poet.

Because the officers have already been screened they are often given the benefit of

This is evident when one component of the system is stimulated and it can be
observed that all components of a system are responding. When a process and the
procedures are duplicated in order to prevent the entire system from failing this is
redundancy. When a system can adjust to conditions changes and monitor its
environment, it is called dynamic. When the elements of a system can communicate
efficiently in order to guide and govern, it is called cybernetic. When all the
elements of a system can achieve more than one element alone can, this is called
synergistic. This means that the whole is greater than the individual parts. When
human talent and imagination can generate ideas so that the instructional designers
can expand the limitations of a system it is referred to as creativity (Merrill,
Barclay, amp; Van Schaak, n.d.). Training is referred to as skills that are acquired
for specific situations that are to be mastered. However, training is necessary for
many situations that are complex when the failure can be catastrophic. One example
of education is teaching a student to learn in an environment that is different, such as
in an online virtual classroom. This scenario describes a form of intentional learning.
The discipline of instructional design is based on detailed assumptions. It is created
by scientific principles that are verified by empirical data. The instructional

17. The Historical Figure Of Jesus
Over the centuries, there have been many conflicts, in both the historical and
theological fields because there is little documented historical information regarding
the life and times of Jesus. Many have attempted using the tools of emerging biblical
criticism, modern historiography, plus their considerable knowledge of ancient
Judaism, in order to paint a portrait of a Jesusby detaching Him from Christian faith;
refusing to study Jesus as a divine figure, but as a Jewish man, who was born as a
Jew and died as a Jew; whose teachings could be weighed alongside his
contemporaries and those who came before him. It is a commonplace that they
have found their own assumptions and prejudices concerning the person of Jesus
and who He really was. However, during this paper I will attempt to come to my
own conclusions regarding Jesus Christ by discussing The Historical Figure of
Jesus by E.P. Sanders, The Jewish Gospels: The Story of the Jewish Christ by
Daniel Boyarin, and The Changing Faces of Jesus by Geza Vermes. Using these
texts I will draw my personal analysis and will attempt to define who my Jesus is.
Among the most renowned historians who have reported on Jesus is E.P. Sanders.
Sanders book, The Historical Figure of Jesus is an in depth look at the historical
life of Jesus. In his work, Sanders sets out to provide what he calls a discussion of
Jesus the human being . Sanders notes that Jesus had a doctrine, and his life was

19. Environmental Planning in Phoenix
Much like the economic laws of supply and demand, there is a public demand for
land use and infrastructure, the ways in which people get from point A to point B
affect general planning, for example, biking to school or work in the city of Tempe
is common, so the high demand for bike lanes gets incorporated into Tempe s general
plan. A vital purpose of general planning is to designate specific land use, for instance
a particular area in Phoenix can be reserved for commercial use or private use only,
these delineations are useful when trying to separate industrial areas that can
potentially contain harmful or unpleasant waste from neighborhoods. Many of the
elements in general planning interconnect, for example as just explained ineffective
land use can directly and adversely contribute to the environmental element of
planning. If one was to try to summarize environmental planning with two words they
would be sustainabilityand waste management; when people talk about sustainability
they are typically referring to sustainable energy; energy that does not hinder the
lives of future generations. Developed countries are entering a progressive era which
requires the use of renewable energyand sustainable growth, as CO¬2 levels sour
past the 400PPM range meanwhile corporations are lobbying for the right to continue
polluting our air and water supply, it has become evident that the demand for
sustainable energy is higher than ever. The particular environmental plan for Phoenix

Several hundred Soviet, nuclear tipped, ballistic missiles streak towards the United
States without any form of opposition or challenge to their impeding destruction. The
result of a situation like this would be no doubt disastrous, but it is a situation that
could very well take place if the United States does not install a national ballistic
missile defense program. An anti ballistic missile (ABM) system is a precaution that
the American government must pursue with all of its resources in order to protect
and preserve our society as we know it.

entire plane load of telemetry equipment to monitor the test. Shortly after the test
the delegation returned to Iran with the full results of the test. The very test of the
North Korean Taepo Dong missile just goes to show how very clueless the United
States is as to the development of ICBMs by foreign countries. The CIA s national
intelligence officer for strategic and nuclear programs, Robert D. Walpole, admitted
that nobody in the intelligence community expected North Korea to develop an
ICBM capability so soon. Although the launch of the Taepo Dong 1 missile was
expected for some time, its use as a space launch vehicle with a third stage was not.
The existence of a third stage concerns us. We hadn t anticipated it. Debris from the

that North Korea has the ability to target Alaska and possibly America s west coast,

22. The Dangers Of Too Much Technology
Issues exist within the models of learning due to the integration of technology
replacing traditional teaching methods in addition to inappropriate execution of
discipline through Zero Tolerance Policies that could be resolved by the United States
Department of Education because both issues have contributed to lower test scores, a
reduced amount of human interactions in classrooms, an increase in drop out,
suspension, and expulsion rates all contributing to the degradation of the education
system as we now know it.
Classrooms have come a long way; the materials used to teach students have changed
as well as the amount of human interaction that occurs in the classroom. In recent
years, there has been a growth in technology within classrooms. Currently,
technology has begun to dominate various teaching methods throughout the
education system. The dangers of too much technology in education article
authored by Cody Laplante talks about Khan Academy, a non profit organization
that provides schools with online video lectures and expounds on how video
lectures are being adopted as a new means of teaching. In the article, Laplante
mentions a blog created by Shantanu Sinha, Khan Academy s President. Sinha s

Considering the crime within the city may help determine the safety of the college.

The second way in which colleges can significantly reduce sexual assaults on
campus is through increased security protocols. These protocols can be
implemented by increased lighting in poorly lit areas, placement of closed circuit
television cameras in blind spot areas, and areas less traveled by students and staff
and through additional security or police officers. Many education sources
encourage people to avoid poorly lit areas to avoid crime, therefore the same
should be utilized on campus. Increased lighting on the campus should be a top
priority for the college. Increased visibility encourages more people to take the
route, which also assists in deterring crime. Within every community and on every

24. How Is Miranda A Dynamic Character
There are many characters in the book Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer,
that have changed Miranda the protagonist. Which make Miranda a dynamic
character. A dynamic character is a character that changes over the course of the
story. One character that has changed her is Dan. When they were at the pond they
decided to become a couple. Ever since that Miranda started sneaking out and didn
t tell her mom. Once Miranda s mom found out she ended up not letting her go see
Dan and she got mad. If Miranda wouldn t ever had met Dan she probably wouldn t
have snuck out because there wouldn t be anyone for her to see. But since Miranda
and Dan broke up it s kind of her fault because she lost another person, she can t see
her friends from school or other people in the community. The text says You can t

Miranda and her mom got into a big fight, just because Miranda left the line to get
Dan. Miranda s mom was mad because Miranda wasn t being grateful for getting
food, they were already going low. Miranda s mom was only thinking about her
family because she didn t want to lose them. The text says Family is all that
matters. Dan has to worry about his family and you have to worry about yours.
(The fight goes on through pages 100 103). This made Miranda care about her
family. After reading this you can see that Miranda s mom helped Miranda by
having her focus on her family more than Dan s family, because if something
happened to them she didn t want Miranda to be sad because she didn t care for
her family as much as she cared for Dan. Miranda s mom thought that by
forbidding Miranda to see Dan that she made her a better person. If you really think
about it, it really made Miranda a miserable person because she s not a lout to see the
one person she cares deeply
25. Music That Subverts The Standard Form Of Arranging
Sounds...
Serialism is style of music that subverts the standard form of arranging sounds
produced by musical instruments and approaches the composition from an almost
mathematical standpoint. It can be described as a compositional strategy in which
the composer arranges notes in a particular order based on the characteristics of a
sound such as pitch, duration, amplitude or even timbre, but giving no preference to
each individual characteristic; all aspects of a sound are equal. Once the notes are
arranged the composer uses a pre determined set of rules to arrange them in to a
composition. It could be argued that it originated as a response to composers in the
late 19th and early 20th century struggling to stretch the limits of their capability...

This order could be based on properties such as symmetry or pre determined
intervals, or even just instinctive ideas of the way in which notes could relate to one
another. This order of notes is called a tone row; this tone row was then re arranged
through a set of rules to form variations known as set forms or row forms. The
basic forms of these rules are retrograde and inversion, arranging the notes in
reverse order (for example B C G becomes G C B) or upside down (for example B
C G becomes B Bb Eb) respectively. Combining these rules is known as retrograde
inversion. These new arrangements could be transposed to provide a larger range
of varying row forms with which to form a composition. Row forms are
represented through a system of numbers and letters. The letter indicates the form
of the tone row, P indicating the original or prime form, R indicating the retrograde
form and I indicating inversion, with RI representing retrograde inversion. The
number indicates the pitch class in which the first note of prime and inverted
forms of the row is to be played, or the last note of retrograde and retrograde
inverted forms. So for example I2 is an inverted form of P0 that has been transposed
two semi tones up. Through these rules it is possible to see the fundamental idea of
serialism, composition that moves away from the traditional tonal relationships of
notes, while creating new relationships through pitch, order, numbers and intervals.

26. Clockwork Orange Analysis
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess takes up many themes throughout the
novel. It is known for its candor with violence and its expressive nature regarding
it. The novel is narrated by Alex, a fifteen year old boy, who tells the story of his
ultra violent acts and journey through reformation by the state. Alex belongs to a
violent subculture created by teenagers and lurks the night with his droogs (gang
members) in effort to rape, steal, assault, and abuse drugs. In the novel, Burgess
argues that the existence of good and evil cannot be modified through force and
deprivation of free will, using imagery, metaphors, and satirical devices of
communism, youth, and other elements to support his claim. The very first scene
in the novel portrays Alex and his droogs in a milk bar getting ready for the night s
violent activities. In this dystopian future, it is common for teenagers to drink milk
and is seen as the drink of choice for them. This milk can be what is called milkplus
and include amphetamine and hallucinogenic like drugs which the boys rely on to
prepare them for ultraviolence. Taking a look at milk symbolically, it represents the
mother and the infant. Milk is the drink given to a young and innocent child by a
loving mother. In fact, teenagers are the only characters seen drinking milk in the
novel. Adults tend to drink scotch, or alcohol in general. This separates the young
from the old, or the violent from the nonviolent. On top of this, the milk represents

but I do not really need to worry about making a new friend, because in my

My eye become camera when I see him. I only focused at him, accordingly

30. Diverse Social Groups Affecting One s Personal Health
Across the health scope, it is a common notion that one s personal health can be
affected by their social networks. It is often thought that having more friends can
lead to lower levels of stress, as a result of having a strong sense of social support.
However, Natalie Hamrick and Sheldon Cohen from Carnegie Mellon University
paired up with Mario Rodriguez from Psychological Assessment Resources, Inc. to
formulate and interpret results from a study that examined the potential negative
effects of diverse social groups on an individual s health status. The main reason
these three authors decided to examine the study discussed in Being Popular Can Be

Diverse social groups have been thought of as solely beneficial, but this article shows
us that sometimes there can be negative consequences that people tend to forget
about or neglect to acknowledge. A larger social groupis positive because you
receive more social support, but it is negative because it exposes you to more
pathogens and infectious diseases. The article could help public health researchers
include the negative effects of some actions in their studies as well. All in all, the
article had potential to be very informative and influential. I found the lack of
explanation about the importance of the study to be a detriment, as well as the small
population size in the study. The authors also neglected to address these issues by
including a list of limitations within the studies, which could be misleading to
readers. Maybe the authors could perform another study to rectify the mistakes found

This study examined the relationship between the use of technological
communication and social skills in college students. A total of 100 male and female
undergraduate students at John Jay College were surveyed about their social skills,
technology use, Internet behavior and attitude. 60 of these participants, chosen at
random, participated in a conversation taking place in a lab setting that was observed
by researchers, in order to evaluate non verbal social skills. The hypothesis was that
participants who frequently use technological communication or preferred it to face
to face communication, would have low social skills. In addition, women were
expected to use technological communication more than men, which this leads to
women having lower social skills then the opposite sex. In the end, communication
preference strongly correlated with poor social skills, while a greater constraint of
technology in college students correlated with high social skills in college.
IntroductionDoes becoming more familiar with technological communication use
make one socially awkward? Today s generation has been brought up with technology,
meaning there are different ways people can communicate. One could have as many
as ten different conversations with people just by using our hands, tapping on
keyboards and on screens. In the last ten years, technology has advanced in human
interaction. Individuals have been increasingly connected to social networks, instant

because the experimenter has experienced many times going to Beachboard after the

of the final tests. The experimenter could only go to MyCSULB to look for the

When looking at PharmaCARE s relationship with the Colberians, you see that the
company s treatment of the indigenous population is unethical. In terms of
intellectual property, the scenario in Assignment 2 highlights the exploitation of the

Finally, in terms of regulation of product safety, PharmaCARE threw all ethicsout the
window by working around a number of safety requirements and putting consumers
lives at risk. The organization used its reputation as a caring, ethical and well run
company to pull the wool over the eyes of many. After reformulating a diabetes drug
to treat those suffering from Alzheimer s disease, PharmaCARE was required to seek
FDA approval for distributing the new drug in mass quantities. Instead, it created a
subsidiary that acted as a compounding pharmacy to distribute the drug directly to
consumers on a prescription basis. Although pharmacy compounding, a practice
where licensed pharmacists reformulate drugs to create a medication more suitable to
treat a patient s individual need, PharmaCARE, through CompCARE, went on to sell
the product in bulk to hospitals, clinics, and doctor offices, an action not permitted
by pharmacies. Pharmacy compounding, when done properly, meets a vital public
health need when a patient is unable to be treated with a medication approved by the
U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but compounding was never intended to
provide unapproved treatment to the masses. This is illegal and unethical. One of the
primary roles of the FDA is to regulate prescription drugs to ensure safety of the
public, but motivated solely by profit, PharmaCARE took the compound route to

The Siege of Yorktown
The Siege of Yorktown, otherwise known as the Battle of Yorktown or the German
Battle, was the final and deciding battle in the American War for Independence. This
blockade of American and French troops took place in Yorktown, Virginia, hence the
name entitled to this bombardment. Led by George Washington, a Virginian
Commander in Chief, the Continental Army traveled south out of Williamsburg to
surround Yorktown. Aided by French General de Rochambeau, this organized
military force clashed against British General Lord Charles Cornwallis and his troops
of 9, 000 men. On September 18, 1781, the last major battle in North American of
the American Revolution began. On this day, General Cornwallis chose
Yorktown, the mouth of Chesapeake Bay, as his base due to its deep harbor,
which allowed reinforcements to arrive by ship. Fortunately for the Patriots,
Admiral Comte de Grasse and his French fleet departed Saint Domingo, a French
colony or modern day Haiti, to the south of Chesapeake Bay. There, he defeated
Admiral Thomas Graves, who was supposed to deliver the reinforcements to
Cornwallis, at the Battle of Virginia Capes. As a result, George Washington realized
that it was time to act and ordered Marquis de Lafayette, a French aristocrat and a
military officer, with his troops of 5, 000 to encircle Cornwallis in Yorktown, while
the French naval forces blocked his escapes by sea. With another plan in mind, the
Americans and French dug a trench closer to

Applying Deconstructive Criticism in Beauty and the Beast
The sweet, unselfish and loving daughter named Belle can be turned into someone
who we never thought when we re young that she can be.
According to Derrida (1960 s) Deconstruction is a method of reading which is based
on the assumption that language is unreliable. The goal of a deconstructionist reading
is to seek out the contradictions in the text to prove that the text lacks unity and
coherence. So in the story of Beauty and the Beast we are going to find out the things
that don t match with each other and the scenes that do not fit with the situations of
the characters.

Important
There are a lot of reasons for the rank structure and the chain of command. Every
reason that I am going to explain in this essay is very important. I am going to
separate them into two paragraphs. The first paragraph will be about the
importance of the rank structure and why the rank structure is in place. The second
paragraph will be about the importance of the chain of command and why the chain
of command is set into place. The rank structure goes back to the 1700 s. The rank
structure was put into place so that the soldiers had someone that was there to give
out orders; also the rank structure was there to teach the newer enlisted respect. If the
rank structure was not in place, there would be no order or discipline in the army....

But there is one simple way to fix that problem that a lot of us lower enlisted seem
to have. If the person you are about to talk to is not your chief or one of the other
chiefs in your platoon. Do not talk to them unless they speak to you first. And all
you really need to say to them is check, roger, hooah. In the past year and three
months, I have had a lot of trouble realizing this. I tend to do the wrong thing and
go talk to who I need to talk to without going about it the right way. If you want to
talk to your commander, you need to talk to you chief, then your platoon sergeant,
then your first sergeant, then you can talk to your commander. This may seem like
a lot of work. But in all actuality if the problem that you have is able to be fixed
beforehand, then it was all worth the work. Yes there are going to be situations
when you know that it can only be fixed by talking to the highest person in the
chain of command, but the chain of command needs to know what is going on so
that they can try to help you and explain the situation to the next person up. Before
I realized that the chain of command is here for the soldier, I always thought that it
was just so that your chief and your platoon sergeant do not look bad to the person
above them. In some cases this may be slightly true, but it is not just about that. It is
about helping you out as much as possible. Help yourself by going through the chain
of command. There is no reason for you to

Rhetorical Analysis: The Glass Ceiling Hurts Business Too
In Sarah Bianchi Sand s article, she details the glass ceiling, or an unofficial
boundary that prevents women and minorities alike from reaching their highest
potential. Her work is meant to persuade readers that the glass ceiling isn t a myth,
but a real and serious problem. Being the Chair and Executive Director of the
National Committee on Pay Equity, Sarah has plenty of reason for wanting to
persuade this topic. Her thesis effectively starts this process by laying out what is
happening. This theory is circulating widely among the press perhaps because it is
controversial and contradicts what has become rather boring to the media but what
remains are the real life experiences of women and people of color no real change
in the wage gap and no improvement in the glass ceiling (Bianchi Sand p.306). This
thesis opens the door for Sarah to talk about and persuade her readers that the glass
ceiling is no myth. By using ethos, pathos, and logos our Author persuades her
readers that the glass ceiling is hurting business but can be raised.
Sarah Bianchi Sand began her career path as an advocate of equal pay for equal
work in 1969 when she took a job as a stewardess for United Airlines. Appalled by
the inequalities she saw there, she ran for and won a seat as president of the flight

The Subsequent Solutions will Improve Stryker s Internal Financial Reporting
Improving the tone and language will engage employees
Within our current report, the tone and language are promoting a negative attitude
amongst employees. As seen in the document s introduction, there is a heavy
emphasis on the company s slowed growth. In fact, the idea of growth being slowed
was written repetitively five times. In addition, the language and tone create a
situation for misinterpreting the report. Our finance and accounting staff are
understanding a completely different message from the report compared to our other
employees. This is specifically evident when the report touches on sales growth and
earnings per share.
To implement our solutions, we need to write our introduction in a more positive
tone. Doing so will be more professional and keep the employee morale instead of
emphasizing the negative aspects. According to the Writing Center at UNC Chapel
Hill, writing in a positive tone will influence on our readers perception. Therefore,
this is important to engage our employees and help them better understand our

BUSINESS APPLE COMPUTERS STRATEGIC ANALYSIS 2005
Strengths and Opportunities In 2005, Apple Computers experienced significant sales
increases attributable to the earlier rollout of the iPod (Robbins Judge, 2009). The
positive publicity and brand perception associated with that project also spilled over
to its entire line of Macintosh computers, further bolstering sales revenue and
corporate profits that year. The sales volume of virtually all Apple products increased
after the introduction of the iPod, hitting $320 million in June of 2005 (Robbins
Judge, 2009). In general, every successful Apple product has benefited brand
recognition and perception and invigorated the sales of other product lines, even
those not directly related to it. By the end of 2005, Apple had sold approximately 22
million iPod units and more than half a billion individual song downloads through its
music store, iTunes (George Jones, 2008).
Weaknesses
Generally, there is also a potential downside to the cross promotional effect of
products: namely, to the extent consumers draw conclusions about all company
products from its failures. In 2005, Apple suffered from this principle twice, after
many iPods were released with batteries that performed poorly and iPod Nanos were
released with screens that malfunctioned ((Akin, Dunford, Palmer, 2006). In addition
to replacing the defective units, the company also provided various free accessories,
such as battery cases. Apple was also pressed by

Haiti has traditionally been the poorest country in the Western hemisphere and has
repeatedly been a victim of natural disasters such as hurricanes, torrential rains, floods

These uncontrolled and unexpected events such as Hurricane Matthew and Hurricane

Photographic evidence and first hand reports made it immediately evident that there

inherent right to life, but it has been difficult. An examination of the effects of the
earthquake and the resulting problems focusing on healthcare such as women s safety
and reproductive care, the spread of diseases, the impact of poverty and the decline in
the mental and physical stability of the youth, demonstrates the negative impacts the
disaster had, especially on the country s children.
The 2010 earthquake left Haiti s people in shock and confusion, causing the women
many issues with both their safety and reproductive health. In the aftermath of a
disaster, women and girls are extremely vulnerable to sexual coercion and violence.
In Haiti the breakdown of law and order, and the growing civil unrest, placed
women and girls at a significantly increased risk (Claeys). After the the quake,
women had a lot of trouble finding or affording contraceptives and as a result, some
women could not use protection regularly or discontinued using contraception
altogether (Balsari). This opened a door to a huge number of issues, one being that an

47. Stereotypes In Hollywood Movies
Living in the United States as a person of color can prove to be difficult to immerse
oneself into the Western media. Why? Because it can be confusing to go watch a
movie, like Aloha (2015) and seeing a character named Allison Ng being portrayed
by a Caucasian actress. The casting choice of Emma Stone to portray a character who
is supposed to be of Chinese and Hawaii descent brings up the whitewashing
controversy within Hollywood production. It is certainly not the first
misrepresentation that Hollywood movies have committed against the Asian ethnic
minority, but one of the many that can be traced back to as early as 1931. In the film,
Charlie Chan Carries On (1931), Warner Oland was chosen to play as the movie s
main Asian character Charlie... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If an Asian man is shown as an uneducated and savage character in a movie, the
viewers of that movie would most likely form a negative perception towards those
of Asian descent due to the movie s influence. Stereotypes are widely accepted,
culturally shared beliefs describing personal traits and characteristics of groups of
individuals. Media discourses help to define, share, and maintain racial stereotypes
across societies over time, especially when interracial contact is limited.
(Ramasubramanian) Yellow peril, arguably the oldest stereotypical representation of
people of Asian descent in Western media. These portrayals of Asians through
yellow peril in Western media paint them as threats who will take over the U.S
culture and society. In The Mask of Fu Manchu (1932), the Chinese character Fu
Manchu directs his army to exterminate the white man and take the white man s
women. This imposes the basis of yellow peril and the fear of the white man s sexual
anxiety as it reduces the Asian character into a savage being. In the late 19th century,
Chinese people were depicted in mainstream newspapers and magazines as immoral,
heathen, barbarian, disease ridden, brutal, corrupt, and uncivilized. (Kim
48. Compare And Contrast Victor And Frankenstein
The contrast and comparison between, Victor and the monster affects the plot, the
theme and the character motivation is also affected. The two characters of the book
Frankenstein are Victor and the later introduced monster. These two character come
from a very different plot each but this small change in the plotaffects the story in a
big way. Their specific theme of the book also matters in the story in a way that
impacts the reader s emotion itself. Lastly the charactermotivations play a key role in
making the characters do certain things that they may not fully want to have done.
The plots of each character determines how the story can go. Victor is seen as a
motivated, intelligent man that pursues his passion with all his might. This
seeking of passion is what led Victor into doing what he had to do. The quote on
chapter 5 that was said by victor was I had desired it with an ardour that far
exceeded moderation; but now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream
vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart. the key word is had.
Victor is saying that he had desired it, meaning that what was his passion before
does not fulfill him anymore. He also talks about how his dream had vanished. The
word vanished is a metaphor to add more excitement into the reader. Its talking about
how his dream no longer exists within him. It is ironic that Victor had realized his
mistake too late. He had accomplished his goal, but only after that did he truly
understand what he had done. The characters actions affected the plot of the story of a
very high aspect. If not for Victos undying ambition this would not have happened.
This points out the significance of the plot and how it shaped the characters actions
to a point of no return. The monster on the other hand, in chapter 15 had said Cursed,
cursed creator! Why did I live? Why, in that instant, did I not extinguish the spark of
existence which you had so wantonly bestowed? yet another use of metaphor was
used in this quote. The word spark symbolizes life. This shows that comparison
between the speech pattern between the two characters. They have been put in a
similar plot that makes them feel certain emotions that make them do specific things.
49. Army Duty
In this scenario, where a platoon of enemy combatants has taken refuge inside a
school in a nearby village, any law enforcement assistant is needed to save as many
civilians as possible. As an officer, it is my duty to follow the laws and punish those
who break the law. I also must follow orders from a higher officer, but for this
scenario, my morals come first and I cannot just sit at the base and wait for people to
die. My decision is to go to the nearby villageand help the as many as I can villagers
from the enemies. The plan is to form a group with other soldiers who have the
same mindset as me. With the group, we can move swiftly and form a plan. This
would mean the soldiers are risking their lives with no available backup. Our families

The enemies are going to be alerted at this point that they are being attacked
because of the bombs that have been exploded. They will use villagers as human
shields to protect themselves against possible gunfire, which makes it difficult to
save the villagers unharmed. Our movements around the school need to be quiet
and unrecognizable. We know these enemies are not afraid to kill so, we approach
them with caution. A couple of soldiers from the group will be left outside to take
down any enemies who try to escape from the school. Negotiating with the main
leader is our first option, telling the leader that he will have a surplus amount of
money with a safe getaway for the safety of the villagers. If the leader refuses, they
could most likely try to kill us. However, warning the leader, they only have 10
mins to get out the building, if not, the whole building is blowing up with preset
bombs located in the middle of the building. This action is to show the leader we are
not afraid to die, which in actuality, there was no bomb. Gunfire is bound to happen,
lives are going to be brought to an end, and traumatic experiences will never be
forgotten. Being trained soldiers, we have enough potential to make it out of the
battle with more injured than dead. Some mothers sacrifice their lives to save their
children and some men gave their lives to recuse their families. Soldiers have lost
their lives; however, they will not be
50. Hertog War Studies Personal Statement
I am a sophomore at the College of William and Mary with a declared major in
International Relations and an intended second major in Economics. After
completing my undergraduate degree, I intend to pursue a law degree with a
concentration in human rights. I am interested in the intersection of gender and
politics. Currently, I am in the second phase of a yearlong independent study where
I am investigating gender quotas in Sub Saharan Africa. I seek to understand the
efficacy and limitations in gender quotas in improving the average lives of women
in South Africa and Uganda. Additionally, I have received a research grant from the
James Monroe Scholar Program at my collegeto pursue an in depth summer research
project before graduation. I intend to use the project to either expand upon my
current research project or, most likely, to conduct a study of gender based violence
in war settings. With the Hertog War Studies Program, I hope to gain a better
understanding of the theory and practice of war that will guide my future summer
research project. Learningforeign languages is one of my passions. I grew up
understanding how to speak the Iraqi dialect of Arabic from... Show more content on

Currently, I am a member of She s the First, an organization that fundraisers to
sponsor the education of girls abroad. Additionally, I am interested in learning more
about the role of women in war, as women are disproportionately affected by
violence in war. During my freshman year, I took a class called Gender, Violence,
and Social Change, where we discussed the long term effects of war on women.
This semester, I am taking a class called International Security, where we will learn
about state power, war, and current issues in international security. If I am accepted
into the Hertog War Studies Program, I hope that I can build on my previous
knowledge of war and security
51. Intellectual Disabilities Assessment Paper
This week we read about assessments and different ways to evaluate and target the
specific needs of the students that have intellectual disabilities. An educational plan
created by the educational team provides strategies and accommodations to help
move the student forward. Teachers should make sure they communicate with the
family so they get a chance to express the strengths and weaknesses of what they
observe in the home setting for the student. Previous information, such as a work
portfolio from the student, is passed on so that the teacher can get a glimpse of what
the student is capable of doing. When students with intellectual disabilities move
from one grade to another, or enter schoolfor the first time, there is a series of
assessments
