Ansel Adams was a renowned American landscape photographer known for his technical skill and love of unmanipulated photography. In the early 20th century, he began photographing landscapes and co-founded a group dedicated to pure photography. He went on to exhibit his work, help found the photography department at the Museum of Modern Art, and advise other photographers. Adams was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1980 in recognition of his photographic accomplishments and influence.
