face so it’s the focus of the image. I also like
the simple colours . The image is close up so
it adds emphasis to the face. The background
is dark which makes her stand out. The
white shirt is nice and simple. Direct
address, first thing you see is her eyes, she is
making eye contact with the audience. The
make up emphasises the eyes. Broad depth
of field, everything is In focus. Lighting
creates warm colours in the image.

3. It’s a black and white photo which adds mood to
the photo. He is at one side to show a lot of the
background. The swan stands out over the
background. He is an environmentalist so that
could have something to do with the meaning of
the photo. The rule of thirds is used to attract
attention to his face and in particular his eyes. It
has a simple background so that he stands out. It
has a narrow depth of field because it’s his
face/upper body that is in the photo. The lighting
is focused on him to bring him out. Direct address
eyes are drawn to him.

4. The focus of the image is on the faces and they
show a lot of emotion. Both close ups emphasises
the faces. Follows rule of thirds because each face
is at the side. Simple background and clothing.
Direct address is used in one but not the other.
Broad depth of field because everything is in
focus. Contrast with black and white brings focus
on the face.

Leibovitz because of the dramatic
background. The model is
blocking the hoop from the
basketball player. There is a lot
going on in the photo and that is
why I like it. This photo also has a
lot of negative background to
bring focus out on the people.
I like this photo because of the way
the light is shining on Rihanna with
the sea as the background. It is well
positioned as you can see the sea in
the background as well as the model.
The colours also go well as the hair
stands out over all of the other
colours.
