PLAN TO INCREASE ENERGY EFFICIENCY
PLAN TO INCREASE ENERGY EFFICIENCY

                                     • Energy-efficiency plan aimed at saving nearly 11,48 billion
euros and cutting greenhouse-gas emissions by 36,4 million
                                     tons through 2020.
                                     • The goal is to reduce Spain's dependence on foreign energy
at a time of sky-high oil prices.
                                     • The plan is focused on generating savings in the transport
and housing sectors, which account for 40% and 17% of
                                     energy consumption, respectively.
                                     • 71 new initiatives and bolster another 29 that were already
                                     in effect.
                                     • Among the energy-saving initiatives for public buildings: an
energy certification program for the housing sector, tax
incentives for renovations that improve energy efficiency,
introduction of renewable energies and the replacement of
                                     traditional lighting with LED lightbulbs.
