Abstract
Handheld X-ray fluorescence (HHXRF) can be used to measure coating thicknesses with advantages in precision and portability compared to other technologies. For benchtop analysis, analyzing coatings applied over large surface areas often requires destructive procedures. HHXRF overcomes this limitation and provides a nondestructive coating thickness testing capability.
A simple, user-friendly calibration built into the instrument interface enables the use of a certified standard to determine up to three layers of accurate and precise coating thicknesses. HHXRF coating measurements, which are independent of the substrate material, provide a user the freedom to analyze any deposited coating comprised of elements Ti through Pu. Because of the large elemental range of analysis, many corrosion-, wear-, and adhesion-resistant coatings measured in labs near the site of action can benefit from the precise results returned by HHXRF.

Moreover, the plasma equipment demonstrates high universality relative to the initial materials, possible synthesis of complex powders and continuous conditions of operatingprocedure. The developed electric-arc plasmatrons and reactors allow different high-temperature processes, including powder processing in plasma flows . Now the most common constructions ofplasma reactors are the direct-flow ones with co-axial plasmatron and the three-jet ones with three plasmatrons tilted at 30–45° relative to the reactor axis and located in 120° intervals on the water-cooled upper lid. The plasmatron with sectioned inter-electrode insertion and shaped outlet nozzle-electrode ensure diffuse glow of the anode region of the arc discharge, what leads to the uniform temperature field and flow velocity at the nozzle edge. These parameters of the plasma jet have a good impact on reproducibility of powder processing, high coefficient of initial material use and production of powder with the given physical-chemical properties. The infrared thermography is a type of non-destructive investigation which can find interesting application in acquiring information about the structural features of ancient masonry buildings. In this case, in fact, the needs of preservation of the historical values have to be compound with the needs of achieving a proper level of knowledge of the parameters influencing the structural behaviour in order to perform a reliable evaluation of their seismic safety. A recent application of the infrared thermography was proposed in the framework of the Project on the seismic evaluation of the Museum of Capodimonte in Naples (Italy). The objective was to clarify if the painted vaults covering some rooms could have structural function and to identify their constructive typology. In this circumstance, an interesting methodological approach, with more general validity, has been developed by integrating the instrumental investigations with different sources of information, such as historical documents and hypotheses of critical interpretation.

he magnetocaloric effect (MCE, from magnet and calorie) is a magneto-thermodynamic phenomenon in which a temperature change of a suitable material is caused by exposing the material to a changing magnetic field. This is also known by low temperature physicists as adiabatic demagnetization. In that part of the refrigeration process, a decrease in the strength of an externally applied magnetic field allows the magnetic domains of a magnetocaloric material to become disoriented from the magnetic field by the agitating action of the thermal energy (phonons) present in the material. If the material is isolated so that no energy is allowed to (re)migrate into the material during this time, (i.e., an adiabatic process) the temperature drops as the domains absorb the thermal energy to perform their reorientation. The randomization of the domains occurs in a similar fashion to the randomization at the curie temperature of a ferromagnetic material, except that magnetic dipoles overcome a decreasing external magnetic field while energy remains constant, instead of magnetic domains being disrupted from internal ferromagnetism as energy is added.
One of the most notable examples of the magnetocaloric effect is in the chemical element gadolinium and some of its alloys. Gadolinium's temperature increases when it enters certain magnetic fields. The infrared thermography is a type of non-destructive investigation which can find interesting application in acquiring information about the structural features of ancient masonry buildings. In this case, in fact, the needs of preservation of the historical values have to be compound with the needs of achieving a proper level of knowledge of the parameters influencing the structural behaviour in order to perform a reliable evaluation of their seismic safety. A recent application of the infrared thermography was proposed in the framework of the Project on the seismic evaluation of the Museum of Capodimonte in Naples (Italy). The objective was to clarify if the painted vaults covering some rooms could have structural function and to identify their constructive typology. In this circumstance, an interesting methodological approach, with more general validity, has been developed by integrating the instrumental investigations with different sources of information, such as historical documents and hypotheses of critical interpretation.

he magnetocaloric effect (MCE, from magnet and calorie) is a magneto-thermodynamic phenomenon in which a temperature change of a suitable material is caused by exposing the material to a changing magnetic field. This is also known by low temperature physicists as adiabatic demagnetization. In that part of the refrigeration process, a decrease in the strength of an externally applied magnetic field allows the magnetic domains of a magnetocaloric material to become disoriented from the magnetic field by the agitating action of the thermal energy (phonons) present in the material. If the material is isolated so that no energy is allowed to (re)migrate into the material during this time, (i.e., an adiabatic process) the temperature drops as the domains absorb the thermal energy to perform their reorientation. The randomization of the domains occurs in a similar fashion to the randomization at the curie temperature of a ferromagnetic material, except that magnetic dipoles overcome a decreasing external magnetic field while energy remains constant, instead of magnetic domains being disrupted from internal ferromagnetism as energy is added.
One of the most notable examples of the magnetocaloric effect is in the chemical element gadolinium and some of its alloys. Gadolinium's temperature increases when it enters certain magnetic fields. dimples to maximizing the heat transfer across the Automobile engine body. The results indicate that the
presence of fins with dimple shows improved results on the basis of heat transfer.

A fuel cell membrane test stand was designed and fabricated to evaluate three new solid polymer electrolyte membranes. The test stand allowed for measurement of temperature, pressure, humidity, and oxygen concentration at the reactant-catalyst-electrolyte interface. Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
