2. Animation is the art by which two-dimensional drawings
or inanimate objects are turned into moving visual
representations of three-dimensional (3-D) life. Computer
animation uses computer hardware and software to make the
animation process easier, faster, and executable by less skilled
and fewer creators. Although there used to be clear divisions
among cartoon and feature film animation, visual effects,
gaming software, 3-D animation, and GIF animation , these
related forms of animation now often overlap

4. There are 5 types of animation
Traditional animation
2D Vector-based animation
3D computer animation
Motion graphics
Stop motion

5. Traditional animation involved animators drawing by hand for
each and every frame. If you love the feel of pencils on a paper,
then the traditional approach is very fascinating. Traditional
animation is creating the drawings one by one on the frame. 2D
animation involves creating numerous drawings then feeding into
a plastic cells, hand painting them and create the animated
sequence on a painted background image.

9. Autodesk 3dsmaxTM is used for 3D modeling &
animation. It is widely used in TV, movies, architecture
studios & game development. Autodesk 3ds Max is
used in designing popular games like World of
Warcraft, Need for Speed, Call of Duty etc. Examples
of 3ds Max in movies include 2012, Avatar, Iron Man,
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Transformers, X-men etc

10. Autodesk® Maya® is used to create animation with the help of
various tools for modeling, simulation, visual effects, matchmoving,
compositing & rendering. It finds application in films, TV,
architecture & automotive design. Maya has been behind the
stunning visuals seen in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,
Kung Fu Panda, Transformers, etc. It has also been used in games
like FIFA 09, Prince of Persia, etc.

11. Adobe After Effects is a popular post-production
software used to add special effects to animation
films, TV shows, commercials, etc. We see various
examples of After Effects in movies such as the
opening sequence for an sci-fi film, or Harry
Potter's magic spells.

12. The word 'Photoshop' is so popular that it has
become a verb now! It is used for 'editing' images,
photographs, scanned art etc. Photoshop is widely
applied in TV, movies, media & advertising, training,
web development etc.

14. When it comes to free and open-source 2D animation
programs, Pencil is by far the most well-rounded and comes
with a surprising number of features given that it comes with no
charge.
Although it looks simple from the clean interface, it is packed
with all the main tools you’ll find in some of the Pencil’s paid
counterparts. It supports both vector and bitmap images,
multiple layers and has its own in-built illustration tools (so you
can either import graphics or create them right there and then
before animating them).
