Humans can hear sounds between 20Hz and 20,000Hz as sound waves travel through the air and cause the eardrum and small bones in the ear to vibrate, ultimately causing liquid in the cochlea to vibrate. Dolphins produce clicks from nasal sacs that reflect off objects and are received through the lower jaw, traveling through a fat-filled channel into the ear, and dolphins can focus sound waves using a fatty lens, hearing ultrasound up to 150 kHz.
