 A Smartphone is combination of traditional PDA
and cellular phone.
 A smartphone is a mobile electronic device
which runs an advanced operating system.
 It is open to installing new applications.
 Is always connected to the internet.
 The first smartphone was developed by IBM in
1992. “Simon” was a mobile phone, it also
included a calendar, address book, world
clock, calculator, note pad, e-mail, fax
functionality, and games.
ANDROID
 It’s an association of several companies.
 The OHA was established on November 6, 2003.
 This group of companies are allowed to use
source code of Android and develop applications.
 Reason for Nokia not to develop Android Mobiles
of Nokia are not part of OHA.
 Android supports wireless communication using:-
 Android is a multi-process system, in
which each application (and parts of the
system) runs in its own process.
 3G Networks.
 4G Networks.
 802.11 Wi-Fi Networks.
 Bluetooth Connectivity.
FEATURES OF ANDROID
 Interface that is better then the previous touch
screen mobiles.
 User gets millions of applications that user
can not get in any other mobile operating
system.
 Android supports advanced audio/video/still
media formats such as MPEG-4, H.264, MP3, and
AAC, AMR, JPEG, PNG, GIF.
 Developing an android application is not
tough using SDK(standard development kit)
and java emulator we can easily develop
applications that we want.
Other then Android there are several other mobile
operating system which are used.
Symbian, iOS, windows this are one of the most
used mobile operating systems.
 There are many reasons why Google’s Android
phones are better than any other smart phones.

 User – Friendly and Attrective User Interface.
 Multiple Choices, without monopoly of one
company.
 Also Available in low prices.

 Android Alpha will generally have many more problems on speed and
