Andersonville is a neighborhood in Chicago that was originally a Swedish cherry orchard in the 19th century. It grew in population after the Great Chicago Fire when people could not build wooden homes elsewhere. Today it has a highly concentrated Swedish culture and a large LGBT community. Andersonville is located between Bryn Mawr Ave and Foster Ave, and Ravenswood Ave and Glenwood Ave. It has a population of around 15,000 people within 0.6 square miles, making it densely populated. Notable attractions include the Swedish American Museum and various shops and restaurants.
