Andersonville is a neighborhood in Chicago that was originally a Swedish cherry orchard in the 19th century. It grew in population after the Great Chicago Fire when people could not build wooden homes elsewhere. Today it has a highly concentrated Swedish culture and a large LGBT community. Andersonville is located between Bryn Mawr Ave and Foster Ave, and Ravenswood Ave and Glenwood Ave. It has a population of around 15,000 people within 0.6 square miles, making it densely populated. Key attractions include the Swedish American Museum and various shops and restaurants.

Our experience in Andersonville allowed us to
realize that there are nice neighborhoods
beyond Rogers Park. This adventure showed us
first hand how diverse Chicago really is.
