A Study on Relationship between Firm Size and Profitability: Selected Private...ijtsrd
The study is to identify the relationship between firm size and profitability of selected private sector banks in India. This study is classified as quantitative research followed with a descriptive research design. The Reserve Bank of India's publication of annual trend and progress of banking in India in June 2018, indicates that the total number of private sector banks in India is 21. The study selected the first five banks based on the hierarchy of the value of its total assets. The study is based on secondary data and it has been collected from the annual reports of the respective banks. The period of study is five years from 2015 to 2019. Firm size such as bank size is measured through the natural log of the book value of deposits, assets, and advances independent variables and the profitability is measured through the natural log of the book value of the net profit of the bank dependent variable . The data analysis includes descriptive statistics, correlation matrix, and linear regression. On the basis of the analysis, the study found that there is a significant relationship between independent variables and the dependent variable. Further, there is a positive correlation and statistically significant between these variables. Quality Improvement of BMT by Performance, Efficiency, Good Corporate Governa...Mega Widayanti
Baitul Maal Wat Tamwil (BMT) is an Islamic microfinance institution which aims to collect and distribute funds from the surplus to the deficit unit. As a non-bank financial institution, BMT has been established as many as 200.808 units in 2015. The implementation of Islamic principles with the concept of ta'awun somehow becomes the main attraction of BMT, which in fact, gains the highest number of the service used among other microfinance institutions with approximately 18% percent of the total microfinance institution clients (2013). Meanwhile, BMT’s performance of development assets reached IDR 4.7 trillion with the total funds of IDR 3.6 trillion in 2015. This indicates that BMT has grown rapidly over the years. Despite the significant growth, BMT has also encountered a great deal of problems during the process. Some problems that might occur include the inadequate regulations of credit (credit fund is only distributed to some sectors of mudharib group), the inefficiency of Human Resource (HR) or executives and staff (parts of finance official which exceed the limits when giving loans) and the inadequacy of the detection of non-performing loans possibilities, which includes the growth of cash flow of the mudharib. This paper applied qualitative descriptive method to analyze the problem from various journals related to the issues of BMT. The authors employed categorical analysis to define the MEGA (Performance, efficiency, good corporate governance and value added measurements) whereas strategic measurement was used to measure the financial and management performance, efficiency, quality of governance and value-added achieved in order to improve the quality of BMT.

ABSTRACT: Banking performance is an important part of the infrastructure for formulating strong
macroeconomic and monetary policies at the national level in terms of the level of profitability that can be
generated. This study aims to analyze the effect of lending, third-party funds, and company size simultaneously
and partially on profitability. Profitability can be measured by calculating the bank's financial performance ratio
from the financial statements published every year. The data analysis technique used in this study is multiple
linear regression analysis using SPSS on 38 companies selected through the purposive sampling method. The
results of this study indicate that lending, third-party funds, and company size have a positive effect on the
profitability of banking sector companies for the 2016-2020 period listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange
(IDX). The theoretical implication of this research is to provide empirical evidence that this research is
following agency theory which explains the relationship between agent and principal in the form of the nexus of
contract cooperation. Meanwhile, the practical implications of this research are a consideration for investors and
other related parties in making decisions based on profitability.

Do Islamic rural banks consider Islamic morality in assessing credit applicat...UniversitasGadjahMada
This study aims to investigate how moral issues are considered in Islamic rural banks credit application analysis. To examine what factors are to be considered, this study applies a mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative), using focus group discussions, analysis of documents, interviews, and survey methods. The findings of this study have shown some essential aspects that are considered in the financing analysis of Islamic Rural Banks (BPRS). The results also reveal that the managers of the BPRS have very similar perceptions of the importance of the 5Cs. As revealed in the findings, all BPRS concede that they are applying this model with a different level of significance. Most BPRS only focus on some key aspects that are considered more important than others.
A comparative study on islamic banking in bangladeshMd. Shahinuzzaman
A banking system that is based on the principles of Islamic law (also known Shariah) and guided by Islamic economics. Two basic principles behind Islamic banking are the sharing of profit and loss and, significantly, the prohibition of the collection and payment of interest. Collecting interest is not permitted under Islamic law. Where the conventional banking follows conventional interest-based principle.
Smooth functioning a bank depends on the stability of stream of returns that it gets from its financing decision. This study is an attempt to showcase the reason for idling or shortage of funds and the factors for the case of Islamic banking. This effort will determine the strategy which can boost the financing in the economy, for this, this study has used the panel data of full-fledged Islamic banks from countries Pakistan and Malaysia, spanning to several years and based on several banks. Based on the analysis of internal and external factors of Islamic banks, it can be seen that increase in the market rate leads to decrease in demand of financing while the increase in deposits and equity do not show a proportional increase in financing which hints that there is excess liquidity available in the Islamic banks. On the positive side, it is evident that increase in the economic activity boosts the demand for Islamic financing.

Introduction: The prevalence of depression and its correlates in Bangladeshi rural university students have been rarely investigated. We draw a literature review, a cross-sectional study and analysis of the rural students’ depression natures and mechanisms that influence their academic performance and health and well-being. Methods: A cross-sectional research was conducted during the period august 2019 to January 2020 in a university. We employed Beck Depression Inventory scale to collect data from 200 undergraduate and graduate students. Data were analysed using chi-square association test and ordinal logistic regression. Results: We discovered that mild to severe depression affected 60% of rural students [mild (16%), borderline (10%), moderate (12%), severe (11.5%), and extreme (10.5%)]. Family expectations, smoking, bad academic achievement, inability to enroll in a particular program, and inadequate household finances were significant risk factors for depression. When it comes to depression, male students scored noticeably higher than female pupils. The decreased depression was linked to both strong household economics and intellectual achievement. Conclusions: The intricate interactions among the risk factors influence the character and processes of depression in rural students.
IMPACT OF PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT ON SUCCESSION PLANNINGindexPub
Motivation: HR in an organization faces various challenges in business environment, such as Building Capabilities, Improving Productivity, Building Performance Culture, Talent Management, Succession Planning for Key Leadership and Critical Roles, Developing Accountability and Ownership, Human Capital Management and transforming HR function into developmental Role from the legacy driven HR, etc. Succession Planning is the process of identifying and developing individuals, who have potential to hold the key leadership position in an Organization, whereas Performance Management includes assessing and improving upon the performance of an employee to meet the organizational goals. There are several Management Practices, which are adopted widely in Industry to make a successful Succession Planning. Workforce and Talent Management is one of them. The health of an organization majorly depends on the proper placement of people, which is a combined outcome of Talent Identification, Talent Development and Talent Retention. Performance Management plays a vital role in Talent Identification. It also has an impact on Talent Development and Talent Retention. The key idea of succession planning suggests that the right person to be placed at the right position at the right time. Succession planning is becoming a challenge these days in the corporate world. Organizations are often not found prepared with their successors to occupy the key positions as and when required. The positions are either kept vacant for a substantial period or more than one role is assigned to a single person. Identifying the right talent for the key positions from outside the organization and recruiting them is a much more difficult task at the eleventh hour. This has a significant impact on organizational health and in turn to organizational sustainability. Organizations must last longer than people. Role of organization continues even when the people move out. Employees must superannuate after attaining a certain age. Also, organizations must have a contingency plan for sudden vacancy arises out of attrition, health hazards and death of employee. Succession planning is the strategy to ensure that a suitable person is made available during exigencies. Employees are developed for taking on higher responsibilities and for the new roles that may emerge in future. The placement of Key Leadership positions can be executed either by inviting the talent from outside or developing the talent in-house. The latter is always in demand keeping in view the core values of the organization and the impact on loyalty and organizational culture in a long run. It is preferable to develop the in-house talent pool to reduce dependency on recruitment of experienced people from outside for the critical roles. It brings the talent acquisition cost low and contributes as a motivating factor for the team as well. The acceptability of a person placed at Top / Key Leadership Positions is high when these are occupied

A SOCIAL CAPITAL APPROACH TO ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM AND INNOVATION: CASE S...indexPub
Despite being recognised as drivers of innovative development, Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) frequently confront resource limitations. Therefore, enhancing the ecosystem is contingent on the entrepreneurs’ social capital, which is crucial for the success of MSMEs. This study applies the social capital approach to analyse the entrepreneurial ecosystem enrichment and its impact on the innovation process of cosmetics MSMEs. The qualitative case study of six cosmetic manufacturing MSMEs explores that social capital is a multifaceted asset to MSMEs. Through an in-depth thematic analysis of three dimensions of social capital (structural, relational, and cognitive), this study states that the innovation process is supported by the synergistic transformation of one dimension of social capital into another. Entrepreneurs sharing the common norms, rules, and language enrich their cognitive as well as relational aspects of ecosystem. The study suggests that as network ties, trust, and norms collectively influence innovation in firms, hence, social capital needs to be studied with its contextualization in the ecosystem.

THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL FACTORS ON INDIVIDUALS DIAGNOSED WITH SCHIZOPHRENIAindexPub
The society with diverse structural and ideological influences, assumes its role in relation to behavior, attitude, belief and relations. The impact can be seen in every society globally, however the western nations have adjusted their social policies to suit these transformations, whereas nations in developing phase have failed to establish suitable systems. In Kosovo, the allocation of funds for mental health services remains insufficient, even though mental health disorders account for 12.3% of overall illnesses and 30.8% of work incapacities! The objective of this study is to examine the impact of society on the decline and recovery of individuals with schizophrenia. The study employs both qualitative and quantitative methods to provide a descriptive-analytical. A study was conducted in four municipalities of Kosovo, using individuals with schizophrenia from psychiatric institutions as subjects along with their caregivers/family members . The research found that social factors greatly contribute to the worsening of schizophrenia patients' condition. The presence of schizophrenia is evident through a higher likelihood of having a low level of education, high unemployment rates, and engaging in harmful behaviors like tobacco and alcohol use, as well as physical inactivity. Significant correlations have been observed in the subscales of positive and negative symptoms using the Self-Report PNS-Q questionnaires. It is crucial for individuals with schizophrenia to have a carefully designed strategy in place, developed in partnership with professionals from various relevant fields such as social protection, psychiatric medical services, education, and social integration plans.

INNOVATIVE DESIGN FOR KIDS MASTERY IMPROVEMENT OF LANGUAGE FEATURES IN A STORYindexPub
One of the hardest things for people learning English as a third language is still reading and writing. Because they are still not good enough at language features, they often make big mistakes and assumptions that aren't true. To make learning more fun and useful, visual symbols were made for seven different kinds of language traits. It looks at the Vipicoll form a lot. Visual Symbols media, Picture and picture, and the Collaborative approach are all creatively put together in Vipicoll. This research used Reeve's design method. Research develops Vipicoll learning model, employing interviews, literature reviews, and questionnaires for iterative improvement and validation. Researchers identify problems, create Vipicoll, iteratively refine through trials, forming an effective English Language Education model. Study assesses individual English thinking development, emphasizing interpretive framework, relation, function, and unique visual symbols. From this research, it was found that using Vipicoll really helps improve kids' mastery of language features, especially those in a story. This is proven by the fact that after implementation, kids' correct answers when asked directly by their teachers and their written test answers increased greatly even though many direct answers and test answers used to be wrong and they often didn't understand.
CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE DETECTION USING MACHINE LEARNING AND RISK CLASSIFICATI...indexPub
The global prevalence of heart disease indicates a major public health issue. It causes shortness of breath, weakness, and swollen ankles. Early heart disease diagnosis is difficult with current approaches. Hence, a better heart disease detection tool is needed. Treatment requires more than just diagnosis. Risk classification is critical for accurate diagnosis and treatment. In this analysis, a novel cardiovascular disease (CVD) detection paradigm using machine learning (ML) and risk classification based on a weighted fuzzy system is proposed. The system is developed based on ML algorithms such as artificial neural network (ANN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and uses standard feature selection techniques knowns as Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Furthermore, the cross-validation method has been used for learning the best practices of model assessment and for hyperparameter tuning. The accuracy-based performance measuring metrics are used for the assessment of the performances of the classifiers. Finally, the outcomes revealed that the proposed model achieved an accuracy of 94.01% which is higher than another conventional model developed in this domain. Additionally, the proposed system can easily be implemented in healthcare for the identification of heart disease.
ANALYSIS OF FLOW CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BLOOD THROUGH CURVED ARTERY WITH MIL...indexPub
Narrowing of the arteries caused by atherosclerosis reduces blood flow to the heart, which results shows ischemia, angina pectoris, cerebral strokes, and other coronary artery disease signs and symptoms. Curvature is seen in blood vessels at various locations. The stenotic surface provides an additional curvature and the point of maximum shear which varies with the cross-section. A cylindrical form of the Navier-Stokes equations in polar coordinate system have been extended to include dynamic curvature along the axial direction. The blood flow behavior of taking different values of blood parameters like viscosity, the radius of the artery, and the thickness of the stenosis has been studied with and without curvature by using an extended blood flow model with dynamic curvature. Moreover, the aspects of blood flow, such as dynamic curvature velocity profile, volumetric flow rate, pressure drop, and shear stress, have been studied in relation to blood flow around curved arteries with stenosis, variations in the radii of the artery, thickness of the stenosis, and viscosity. The information may reveal that by increasing the values of curvature, viscosity, and thickness of stenosis, velocity, and volumetric flow rate can be quickly reduced. Increasing the curvature, viscosity, and thickness of stenosis also results in an increase in shear stress and a pressure drop. The presence of curved stenotic arteries has a significant impact on the flow parameters, and it is crucial to know about these dynamics in order to study the cardiovascular system.

A NOVEL DENSITY-BASED CLUSTERING ALGORITHM FOR PREDICTING CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASEindexPub
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain a leading cause of global morbidity and mortality. Early identification of individuals at risk of heart disease is crucial for effective preventive interventions. To improve the prediction accuracy, this paper proposed Heart Disease Prediction using the Density-Based Ordering of Clustering Objects (DBOCO) framework. The Dataset has been pre-processed using Weighted Transform K-Means Clustering (WTKMC). Features are selected using Ensemble Feature Selection (EFS) with a Weighted Binary Bat Algorithm (WBBAT) used to ensure that the emphasis is on the most relevant predictors. Finally, the prediction has been done using the Density-Based Ordering of Clustering method, which has been designed exclusively for cardiovascular disease prediction. DBOCO, a density-based clustering approach, effectively finds dense clusters within data, allowing for the inherent overlap in cardiovascular risk variables. DBOCO captures complicated patterns by detecting these overlapping clusters, improving the accuracy of disease prediction models. The proposed approach has been verified with heart disease datasets, displaying higher performance than traditional methods. This study marks a substantial leap in predicting cardiovascular disease providing a comprehensive and dependable framework for early identification and preventive concern.
INFLUENCE OF ADDITIVES ON THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF HIGH-MODULUS ASPHALT C...indexPub
The appearance of premature cracks in freeway chase bodies is a worrying problem that requires in-depth analysis and remedial action. By identifying potential causes and proposing targeted recommendations, this study aims to help the responsible authorities make informed decisions to prevent such problems in the future and ensure the durability of road infrastructure. Premature cracking and rutting are common problems in pavements that can compromise their durability and safety. The use of specific additives in asphalt concrete can help prevent these deficiencies. The use of ZQ1 additive alone can lead to premature cracking in pavements, while PR FLEX 20 additive can increase the risk of rutting. However, a judicious combination of the two additives, with specific percentages of 2% for ZQ1 and 5% for PR FLEX 20, can prevent these shortcomings, improve pavement durability and optimize the mechanical properties of high-modulus asphalt concrete (BBME). In addition, this approach offers a promising solution for improving pavement durability and performance over time, opening the door to further studies to optimize the use of this additive combination in field applications.
DIALECTAL VARIABILITY IN SPOKEN LANGUAGE: A COMPREHENSIVE SURVEY OF MODERN TE...indexPub
Main fundamental challenge for recent research work on speech based on science and technology is to understand and model the user variants in Spoken Languages. Users have their style of speaking, reliant on various factors, adding the dialect and accent of the speaker as well as the social and economic background of the speaker and contextual attributes like degree of knowledge between the listener, speaker and the position or rank of the speaking condition, from very normal to formal. In the past few decades, an extensive progress has been seen in automatically verifying the language of a speaker offered a sample speech. The main purpose of dialect verification is the recognition of a speaker’s region dialect, within a pre-determined language, offered the acoustic signal alone. DR (Dialect Recognition) is a main issue in particular, since even within the similar dialect and accent or register user change may occur. For illustration, In Spontaneous speech, few speakers tend to exhibit more optimizing and alteration of function words than others. The main issue of dialect recognition system has been viewed as challenging than that of language classification or recognition due to the maximum similarity among dialects of the similar language. While, dialects may differ in any dimensions of the linguistic spectrum such as syntactic, lexical, morphological, phonological differences, these changes are likely to be more indirect across dialects than those across languages such as Hindi, Punjabi and English etc.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Abstract
This study aims to determine the influence of internal and external factors on the profit growth of banks and sharia
business units for the period January 2014-July 2020 in Indonesia. Internal factors used are the growth of third
party funds (DPK), financing and fee-based income. Meanwhile, external factors include changes in the BI-Rate
and Inflation. The data used is secondary data, which is processed using SPSS software through multiple
regression analysis. The results of data processing show, partially, only internal factors of financing growth and
fee-based income have an influence on profit growth. However, if simultaneously examined, all internal and
external factors affect the profit growth of banks and sharia business units for the period January 2014-July 2020
in Indonesia.

1. BACKGROUND
Sharia Banking has the characteristics of operating based on the principle of mutually
beneficial profit sharing between customers and banks, as well as prioritizing aspects of justice,
ethics, brotherhood and togetherness and avoiding speculative activities in transaction,
investment and production activities. With the existence of Islamic banking services, banking
services provided to the public will be more varied (www.ojk.go.id). Products owned by
Islamic banking can basically be divided into three, namely: fundraising, financing and
services. In general, the three products are products that will generate profits for Islamic banks
in Indonesia (Karim, 2014).
Islamic banks have several functions. The first function is to collect funds from people who
have excess funds or surpluses in the form of deposits with Al-Wadiah contracts and in the
form of investments with Al-Mudharabah contracts. The second function of Islamic banks is
to distribute funds that have been collected to people in need or commonly called users of
funds. If the community can meet all the requirements and conditions, the community can
obtain financing from Islamic banks. Islamic banks get a return or income from the funds
distributed. The return or income obtained by the bank from the distribution of funds depends
on the contract used. Therefore, the activities of Islamic banks in channeling funds are very
important because they are related to income. Islamic banks also provide services. Islamic
banks have various service products that are divided according to the type of contract consisting

of: wakalah, kafalah, hawalah, rahn, qard, and sharf. The income obtained from this service
is in the form of fees (Ismail, 2011).
Seeing the importance of the function of Islamic banks in Indonesia, the performance of Islamic
banks needs to be further improved so that banking based on sharia principles remains healthy
and efficient so that it can always serve the public. The bank's financial performance can be
seen from its ability to generate profits. Simorangkir (2003) explained that profit growth is a
change in the percentage increase in profits obtained by the company. If the bank's performance
is good, profit growth will increase. The increased profit growth reflects that the system run by
the bank is running effectively and efficiently. Profit information is no less important than the
level of bank health for internal and external parties. For internal bank parties, profit
information is needed to determine performance in a certain period that provides an overview
of the prospect of operating results and for investors, profit information can be used as a
reference in making investment decisions.
Efforts to increase the profit of Islamic banks, namely by maximizing the bank's profits by
maximizing the intermediation function, such as collecting funds from the public and
channeling back to the community according to the margin through various existing policies
such as buying and selling financing (such as murabahah, salam and istishna'), profit sharing
(such as mudharabah and musharakah) and rent (ijarah). As well as improving other Islamic
bank services to benefit in the form of fees. One of the important factors in carrying out the
fund distribution function is the aspect of collecting Third Party Funds (DPK). Increasing
public awareness in placing funds in Islamic banks so that the role of Islamic banks as
intermediation institutions runs well is the key to the success of Islamic bank management
(Muhammad, 2005). DPK is a fund originating from the community collected in the form of
current accounts, savings and time deposits.
In addition to internal factors which are the operational activities of Islamic banks, external
factors also affect the profits of Islamic banks. One of the external factors is macroeconomic
factors. These factors include Bank Indonesia interest rates and inflation which have a positive
and significant influence on Islamic bank profits (Amzal, 2016; Ahmadi and Herianingrum,
2019).
Islamic banks are also required to have good financial performance in order to compete. Good
performance can be seen from the bank's ability to generate profits. Profit growth is an
important indicator for stakeholders in decision making. Therefore, bank profit growth is an
important factor that must be considered by Islamic banks. Based on this, the research questions
are:
1. Is the profit growth of banks and sharia business units partially influenced by internal and
external factors in the period January 2014-July 2020 in Indonesia?
2. Is the profit growth of banks and sharia business units simultaneously partially influenced
by internal and external factors in the period January 2014-July 2020 in Indonesia?

company has good information, the company will have the initiative to convey information to
external parties with the aim of increasing the company's stock price. Signalling Theory is an
action used by company management to present signals to investors about how management
views the company's prospects (Besley and Brigham, 2008).
The assumption of this theory is that management has more detailed information than external
parties know. This causes asymmentric information between interested parties (Jogiyanto,
2013). This asymmentric information will make it difficult for investors to analyze and assess
the quality of the company objectively (Arifin, 2005).
This theory illustrates that good operational activities of a company can be contained in
financial statements. This means that financial statements are useful in knowing and analyzing
company performance. This information is needed by investors in considering decisions when
they want to invest in a company (Suwardjono, 2008). Once the information is received, the
investor will analyze whether the information is a good or bad signal. If the information
contains good signals, it is expected that market participants will react and be interested in
trading stocks (Jogiyanto, 2013).
2.2 Profit Growth
Profit growth is the percentage increase in profits obtained by the company from period to
period. Periodic increases in profits can illustrate that the efficiency and effectiveness of the
company in carrying out its operational activities have also increased. Profit growth can
influence investors to make investment decisions because investors expect positive profit
growth from the previous period. Investment funds received by banks can be allocated
additional capital to expand in order to increase profit growth. Indirectly, good profit growth
can contribute to increasing company value (Simorangkir, 2003). Bank profit growth can be
due to an increase in the distribution of its financing Thus, the increase is supported by the
optimization of the bank's intermediary function (kontan.co.id)
2.3 Sharia Bank Operational Activities
The definition of Islamic banks based on Law number 21 of 2008 is "banks that carry out their
business activities based on sharia principles and according to their types consist of Sharia
Commercial Banks and Sharia People's Financing Banks". The sharia principle in question is
Islamic law in force and issued by the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Ulema
Council as the institution authorized to determine sharia fatwas on every bank activity in raising
funds and providing financing or other activities based on the principle of profit sharing
(Mudharabah and Musyarakah), the principle of buying and selling (Murabahah, Salam,
Istishna), or the principle of rent (Ijarah). Islamic banks operating in accordance with Islamic
principles referring to the Qur'an and Al-Hadith are expected to avoid activities that contain
4. 56 | V 1 8 . I 1 1
elements of riba and things that are not in line with Islamic law.
The first operational activities of Islamic banks start from the collection of funds originating
from the community.the collection of funds can be in the form of investment funds or
entrustment. In fund raising activities, Islamic banks carry out their activities as managers of
funds that have been collected. The funds collected by Islamic banks are then distributed to
various Islamic bank partners such as investment partners, investment managers, buyers of
goods, and tenants of goods or services that have been provided by Islamic banks. Islamic
banks act as owners of funds if the funds distributed are buying and selling activities (Indriani,
2018).
One of the company's goals is to generate revenue (Ross, Westerfield, Jorand, Lim & Tan,
2012). Islamic banks are no exception to obtain optimal profits as their commercial destination.
Niswonger (1999) defines "income as an increase in owner's equity resulting from the process
of selling goods or services to buyers". Muhammad (2015) stated that the results obtained from
contracts or contracts for the distribution of funds (financing) which are the stages of
operational activities of both Islamic banks can contribute to Islamic banks in obtaining
revenue. According to Muhammad (2005), the sources of bank income can come from:
1. Profit sharing on Mudharabah contract and Musharakah contract
2. Profit on buying and selling contracts (Murabahah, Salam, Istishna)
3. Lease proceeds on Ijarah and Ijarah Muntahiya Bittamlik (IMBT) contracts
4. Fees and administrative fees for other bank services.
Income – income that has been received by Islamic banks will be distributed and distributed to
investment customers, deposit customers and shareholders in accordance with a predetermined
and agreed profit sharing ratio after deducting operational costs.
2.4. Macroeconomy Factors
The macroeconomic factors used in this study are inflation, and Bank Indonesia interest rates
which have a positive and significant influence on Islamic bank profits (Amzal, 2016; Ahmadi
and Herianingrum, 2019).
The explanation of each of these factors is as follows:
1. Inflation is the tendency to increase the price of goods and services in general that lasts
continuously. If the price of goods and services in the country increases, then inflation
increases. The increase in the price of goods and services causes a decrease in the value of
money. Thus, inflation can also be interpreted as a decrease in the value of money against
the value of goods and services in general (bps.go.id). An indicator that is often used to
measure the inflation rate is the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
2. Bank Indonesia interest rate is the reference interest rate set by Bank Indonesia (bi.go.id)

2.5 Previous Research
Cahyo (2018) conducted a research entitled "The Effect of Fee Based Income on the
Profitability of Sharia Commercial Banks in Indonesia for the 2011-2015 Period. The
independent variable in this study is fee based income, while the dependent variable is
profitability. Meanwhile, the data analysis method used is multiple linear regression analysis.
The results showed that fee-based income has a significant positive influence on the
profitability of Islamic commercial banks.
Lubis (2017) conducted a research entitled "The Effect of Third Party Funds (DPK), Financing
and Capital on Profit at PT BNI Syariah". Data analysis methods that used is multiple linear
regression analysis. The results of this study show that deposits, financing and capital affect
profits at PT BNI Syariah bank
Ahmadi and Herianingrum (2019) conducted a research entitled "The Influence of
Macroeconomics on Sharia Banking Growth in Indonesia for the 2013-2015 Period". The data
analysis method used is the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The results showed that
Islamic banks' profits and deposits were significantly influenced by Gross Domestic Product
and Inflation. Cupian (2016) conducted a study entitled "The Impact of Macroeconomic
Variables on Indonesia Islamic Banks Profitability". The macroeconomic variables used in this
study are Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Inflation rate, and BI rate (Bank Indonesia interest
rate). In addition, Non-Perfoming Financing is also involved in the model to represent another
determinant for banks in obtaining profits. Econometric model using multiple regression is
used to estimate the effect of GDP, BI rate, infation rate, and NPF on Islamic Bank profits. The
results of this study show that partially all variables (GDP, BI rate, inflation rate, and NPF)
have an influence on the profit of Bank Islam.
The novelty in this study uses the profit growth of Islamic banks as its dependent variable. In
addition, the independent variable consists of internal and external factors of Islamic banks.
Where the internal factors are the operational activities of Islamic banks which include the
growth of funding activities, fund distribution and fee-based income. Meanwhile, external
factors are macroeconomic factors consisting of increases or decreases in the BI-Rate and
Inflation. Data processing in research using multiple regression analysis.
Based on the description above, the following hypothesis is formed:
a. Hypothesis 1 is that the profit growth of banks and sharia business units is partially
influenced by internal and external factors in the period January 2014-July 2020 in
Indonesia.
b. Hypothesis 2 is that the profit growth of banks and sharia business units is influenced
simultaneously by internal and external factors in the period January 2014-July 2020 in
Indonesia

3. RESEARCH METHODS
This study used time series data. Sample selection uses the purposive sampling method, which
is selecting samples based on groups, regions or groups of individuals through certain
considerations that are believed to represent all existing units of analysis. So that the object of
research which is the sample of this study is 34 Islamic banks in Indonesia consisting of 14
Sharia Commercial Banks and 20 Sharia Business Units that have monthly financial statements
in the period January 2014 to July 2020.
The independent variables of this study are internal factors which include deposit growth,
financing and fee based income (FBI) and external factors which include growth
(increase/decrease) inflation and BI Rate. Data analysis in the study used multiple regression
analysis processed using SPSS software.

4. DISCUSSION
1. Descriptive Test
Based on the statistical descriptive test, it can be seen that each independent and dependent
variable has a population of 78. Sharia banking profit growth decreased the most by -89.32%
and profit growth increased by 108.01%. Meanwhile, on average every month, Islamic banking
profit grew by 16.98%

Valid N(listwise)
In internal variables which include deposit growth, financing and FBI the growth contribution
can be explained as follows:
DPK growth saw the largest decrease in growth of -3.26% and the largest increase in growth
of 7.63%. Meanwhile, the average deposit growth is 1.1164%.
Financing growth saw the largest decrease in growth at - 1.78% and the largest increase in
Financing growth at 6.60%. Meanwhile, the average growth of financing is 0.9219%.
Fee Based Income growth saw the largest decrease in growth of -90.54% and an increase in
Fee Based Income growth of 278.67%. Meanwhile, for the average, Fee Based Income
experienced a growth of 16.99%
The explanation for external variables which include changes in the BI Rate and Inflation can
be explained as follows:
The largest decrease in the Bi rate was -19.23% and the largest increase in Bi rate growth was
11.75. As for the average growth, the Bi rate tends to have a declining growth of -0.7186%.
Changes in infection saw the largest decrease of -1200% and the largest increase in inflation
growth of 1900%. Meanwhile, the average inflation tends to decrease every month by -13.77%.

Based on the table above can be explained as follows:
1. DPK Tolerance Level 0.668 > 0.10 and VIF 1.497 < 10.00
2. Financing Tolerance Level 0.648 > 0.10 and VIF 1.543 < 10.00

5. INFLATION tolerance rate 0.949 > 0.10 and VIF 1.054 < 10.00
This shows that all independent variables consisting of deposit growth, financing, FBI, Bi-Rate
and inflation do not experience symptoms of multicollinearity.
2.1.3 Heteroscedasticity Test
Figure 4.2: Heteroscedasticity Test
Based on the table above, the plot spreads randomly above and below zero on the Regression
Studentized Residual axis. Therefore, based on the heterokedasticity test using the graph
analysis method, the regression model formed was stated that there were no symptoms of
heterokedasticity.

The assessment is when dU<d<4-dU. The Du value in the Table is 1.7708 and the Dl Value in
the table is 1.4991. while for Durbin Watson value is 2,056. then it can be concluded that there
is no Autocorrelation because Durbin Watson values are 1.7708 < 2.064 < 2.229
1. Analysis of the Influence of Internal and External Factors on Sharia Banking Profit
Growth
4.3.1 t-Test
Table 4.4 t-Test
Based on the t test, it can be seen that:
1. The constant value has no effect because the significance value is more than 0.05
(0.448>0.05)
2. DPK growth did not have a partial effect on Islamic banking profit growth (0.156>0.05)
3. Sharia Bank Financing Growth a partial effect Sharia Banking Profit Growth
(0.038>0.05)
4. Fee Based Income Growth affects Sharia banking profit growth (0.000<0.05)
5. Bi Rate growth has no partial effect on Islamic banking profit growth (0.230>0.05)
6. The growth of the inflation rate did not have a partial effect on the profit growth of
Islamic banks (0.738>0.05)
Therefore the model formed based on the t test is:
Profitt =7.521Financingt+ 0.575FBIt
The profit growth of banks and Sharia business units in the period January 2014-July 2020
based on the t-test was only influenced by the growth of financing and fee-based income.
Where, financing growth increases by one unit, then profit growth will increase by 7,521.
Likewise with fee-based income, where fee-based income growth increases by one unit, profit
growth will increase by 0.575. This must be a concern for policy makers in banks and Sharia
business units, because it must be appropriate in channeling financing and increasing operating
incomes.

4.3.2 Simultaneous Influence Test
Table 4.5: Simultaneous Influence Test
ANOVAa
a. Dependent Variable: Profit
b. Predictors: (Constant), Inflation, FBI,DPK, Bi-Rate, Financing
Based on the table 4.4 above, it is known that the growth of internal Islamic banking factors
consisting of deposit growth, financing and FBI and the growth of external factors consisting
of changes in the BI-Rate and inflation simultaneously or together affect the profit growth of
banks and Sharia business units from January 2014 to July 2020. This shows that although
partially, deposit growth, changes in the BI Rate and inflation do not have an influence on
profit growth, these variables should not be ignored by policy makers, because if tested
simultaneously they have an influence on profit growth in banks and Islamic business units.
Table 4.6: R Square Test
Model Summaryb
a. Predictors: (Constant). Inflation, FRB, DPK, Bi-Rate, Financing
b. Dependent Variable: Profit
Based on the table above, the value of R Square shows the magnitude of the influence between
the independent variable consisting of internal and external variables on the dependent variable,
namely profit growth. The R Square value of 0.483 or 48.3% indicates that together all
independent variables including deposit growth, financing, fee based income, BI Rate and
inflation affect profit growth by 48.3%, while the remaining 51.7% is influenced by other
factors outside the model.
5. CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION
1. Conclusion
Based on the explanation in the previous chapters, conclusions can be drawn: If tested partially,
the profit growth of banks and Sharia business units in the period January 2014-July 2020 was
only influenced by the growth of financing and fee based income. If tested simultaneously,
profit growth of banks and Sharia business units in the period January 2014-July 2020 was
influenced by all independent variables, namely internal Islamic banking factors consisting of
deposit growth, financing and fee-based income and growth of external factors consisting of

changes in the BI-Rate and inflation.
2. Suggestion
The suggestions submitted are:
a. Policy makers in banks and Sharia business units, because they must be right in channeling
financing and increasing their operating incomes, because in partial testing the two
variations affect profit growth. However, these policymakers should not ignore the
variability in deposit growth, changes in the BI Rate and inflation, because if tested
simultaneously it has an influence on profit growth in banks and Islamic business units.
b. Suggestions for future research may include other macroeconomic variables such as
economic growth that can be proxied with gross domestic product growth; decompose
financing variables into forming variables, such as mudharabah, musharakah, murabahah,
salam and istishna'; and use individual bank data.
