Cover Songs Comparison
In the music industry, it is not uncommon for original songs to be rerecorded and altered by other
artists resulting in what is known as a cover song. One example of this situations occurrence can be
seen in Vance Joy's indie folk–pop song, "Riptide", that was famously covered by pop and country
crossover artist, Taylor Swift. Overall, there are many factors that go into the relationship between
an original and cover song and the artists of each song. Such as both artist's connection to the song
and the relationship between the artists themselves. There are also differences between the original
and cover songs themselves including song structure, instrumentation, vocals, lyrics, and lyrical
meaning. Vance Joy and Taylor Swift met for the first time backstage in New York at the Late Night
Show with David Letterman (Whitney). By the time for their first meeting, Swift had already
covered Joy's hit single, "Riptide", on a British radio station and announced her invitation for Joy to
join her as the opening act on her international 1989 tour (Adams). Though Joy is an indie folk–pop
singer and Swift a country, pop singer, the two managed to join their audiences together and create
continued mass popularity for "Riptide" as well as promote listeners of both genres to hear the two
perform at the 1989 tour. As Joy was used to performing in smaller venues, the packed auditoriums
that Swift's tour filled were a new experience for him and encouraged him to step outside his

Drake's Song Too Good
Drake's song "Too Good" is, in many ways an amazing work of art. Two amazing artists– Drake and
Rhianna– sing this song. While listening to a song there are a few criteria's that should be followed
and those are: rhythm, meaning, and voice, in which all are met in this song. First, lets discuss the
rhythm that takes place in this song in particular. According to Merriam Webster's Dictionary,
rhythm is defined as "a regular, repeated pattern of sounds or movements." In this song the rhythm
is consistent and has a catchy beat. Since the songs style is labeled as "contemporary hip–hop" the
rhythm properly corresponds with it by using many instruments, which make up the pattern of
sounds that are heard in the background of the singers. Rhythm is very important in a music piece
because its one of the first things that catches the audiences attention. In addition to rhythm being
important criteria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Merriam Webster's Dictionary the definition of voice is "the ability to sing." This is
probably the most important criterion because an audience doesn't want to listen to a song that
contains a horrible voice. This song is a perfect example of two amazing voices. Drake, a famous
hip–hop and rap artist, and Rhianna, another famous hip–hop artist, sing this song as a duet. Their
voices fit perfectly in this song because they both have a serious tone in their voice to relate with the
situation the song is addressing. For example, this song couldn't be sang by two singers that have a
high pitch happy voices because the message that is being portrayed is more of a serious tone rather
than a happy tone; therefore, these two singers voices fit the part very well. Overall, the song "Too
Good" by Drake and Rhianna is met extremely well with the three criteria's of rhythm, meaning, and
voice. This song portrays a great meaning, that has excellent rhythm and voices of singers that fit the
style of music it

One Republic Song Analyse
An Analysis of One Republic's Song: I Lived I like to think that music brings people together in any
situation, good or bad. In the moment, songs can make you laugh, cry, and smile, and that's when
you know you have a great song. This song in particular means a lot to me just because it relates to
my backstory. One Republic is a modern band that released their debut album in 2007. Ever since,
they have become famous for their popular songs and appearances. This song in particular came out
in 2013 but after three years is still being played on the radio. The purpose of this song is it to make

Songs Break Up Songs
Break–Up Songs Throughout Different Genres
What does Paris by The Chainsmokers, Say Something by A Great Big World, and Here Comes
Goodbye by Rascal Flatts all have in common? They are break–up songs. Each in their own way, all
of these songs are about pain and sadness caused by break–ups. Some of these songs are meant to
cause an already sad person to cope with their sadness by pushing them farther into "The Abyss". A
few are meant to touch on the happier memories of the relationship giving someone hope that they
will love again. All of these songs, through their lyrics, structure, and rhythm, are all meant to cope
with a person's sadness that results from a break–up. Paris by the Chainsmokers is a song that
reflects on the happy side of a relationship that is rarely seen in break–ups. The song is essentially
the writer remembering a relationship with fondness. It tells the tale of two young lovers on their
own and in love who eventually break apart. It also touches on happy memories like the lyrics "We
were staying in paris,/ to get away from your parents" (Chainsmokers, 1–2). By highlighting the
highs instead of lows, it shows the listener that they should not be sad about their loss but happy that
they ever got to experience the joy and happiness that most relationships provide. Almost no
relationships end with happiness but this song shows that it is possible to think happily of a
relationship that has ended. This song also uses higher pitched, electronic music to

Yellow Song Monologue
Perhaps I am not drunk enough to get this sufficiently down on paper, but I am here now, come back
to something which only I must endure on my own. I listen to your songs and feel as though they
may be an insurmountable hill that I shall not ever find peace upon again. And oh, how they once
brought me comfort and knowledge. But if only I could have had just some parts of you, the music
would have been one of the best. From your songs and albums I have learned more of you and your
enormous soul and love than had you ever spoken the feelings aloud. Then from the cacophony of
your heart's truth set to tune, we stumbled upon a few melodies with which to call our own– songs
invented purely for the two of us. Now, in the aftermath of what has been real, I cannot fathom to
listen to the Yellow Songbirds no more. In all of it and for what ever must come next, I am afraid
that I will never be able to hear some things again without a shiver of pain and remorse.

I have lived and seen the carelessness with which many take in the stories and serious sentiments of
others. There are parts of me that are very selfish, but I am trying to be softer, to be better for those
that deserve it, and abstain from those who do not. What I am trying to say is that you deserve the
best parts of me– I am trying to find a way to give them to you. But it is hard to begin speaking after
so long resigned to silence. Perhaps I could have reached out to others more– perhaps some may
have been worth some semblance of trust.
But I do not wish to trust anyone but if not fully. The thing is, the simple thing that I need to have be
understood, is that I feel like I could trust you with anything. My only reservations now are the parts
of me, the gloom that has fallen at previously unwelcome times, which may scare you

Island Song Analysis
Most people can say that one of the most important things in life is happiness. Happiness is key to a
worthy life. When you are happy, you go about your day much better than if you are sad or angry.
Happiness occurs internally but external factors such as music can always help. Music is responsible
for extracting certain emotions, such as happiness, in any listener. I chose to call my playlist "It's
Going to Be a Good Day" because everyone needs a playlist to start off their day right by listening
to songs that instigate happiness. I chose this theme because personally I believe that happiness is
very important in my life. If I am not happy, then I cannot be efficient in the different things I do. By

The lyrics of this song are uplifting and make the listener feel as if nothing can get in their way to
reach their goal. This song is polyphonic because it contains two voices accompanied by
instrumentation. The tempo is upbeat and creating a feeling of happiness. The male voice's timbre is
raspy and soulful. The melody shows the sentiments that the two singers are promising each other
during the chorus. The instrumentation included strings, which gave the song a sweet and catch
tone, and the drums gave a pulsating drums that keeps the song upbeat. While listening to the song I
feel like I can conquer the world and nothing can stop me from doing the things I want to do so the
sense of power evolves into happiness

This song was influenced by j Coles best friend who died saving his best friend. The part that is
getting everyone's attention is that he was talking to his daughter the whole time. They wanted to
wait till the daughter (Nena) was at a mature age so shell understand about everything that is
happening. "I'm proud to say I was a father Write my story down and if I pass go play it for my
daughter when she ready"–this line is the most popular line in the song. People say that this line here

their friendship was strong friendship, they would do anything for each other no matter how big or

Jermaine and his friend have this secret bond that no one can break no matter who it is. They
went through everything together no matter how thick or thin it is. They were ready to die for each
other, they never asked for anything too complicated to do for each other, but Jermaine was even
willing to take care of his friend's family when he was ready to die. this sentence talks about how
their bond was always strong since they were children and he wanted Jermaine to know that he
knows he wouldn't ever ask him for anything if it wasn't important. Jermaine knew that this was
situation was important so Jermaine knew that he had to do something really big for his friend and it

English Song Critique
The first goal I set for the second quarter was to "Write and record an English song." While I did not
completely finish a song, I developed instrumentals, lyrics, and melody lines for two songs.
Interestingly, I brainstormed the ideas for both projects while walking my dog, Bandit.
The first, which I have tentatively titled "Melody," started with me humming a rhythmic piano part,
then a melody line. Next, I developed the instrumental in GarageBand, with an electric guitar part as
a placeholder for the vocals. I found some really cool techno/electronic effects, percussion parts, and
bass parts, and utilized them in my project. I scribbled some rough lyric ideas, then brought them
into class one day and implored Vanessa to help me finish the ... Show more content on

The singer could be the significant other of a criminal, or perhaps their child, wondering about the
psychological meaning behind the criminal's behavior. It will likely develop into a "story song,"
which "contains the easily recognized elements of telling a narrative, linear story – beginning,
middle and end, with a recognizable story arc that contains the classic elements of drama and
delivery;" it also has "relatable imagery" to appeal to audiences (Anderson). Unlike "Melody," for
this song I developed the melody of the chorus first, building around the opening line "you're an
outlaw." While I was singing, I couldn't help but feel that the song sounded Taylor Swift–like, which
is a very different sound from my other two pieces. I didn't want to forget my song idea, so as soon
as I returned home after the walk, I recorded the melody in GarageBand using my MIDI keyboard
and worked out some lyrics. I fleshed out the track with guitar chords and a drum beat, and later
recorded the vocals in the vocal booth. In the second semester, I will compose the verses and

are written to have a meaning, but many listeners rarely analyze the lyrics to understand what the
meaning really is. Unlike the article "17 Things You Should Do If You Are Struggling With Self–
Love", song lyrics are purposefully written in an indirect way so that the meaning is almost hidden
from the audience. The messages in the article tend to be easier to identify since many people tend

Personal Essay: Song Analysis
Listening to the lyrics of your favorite song you automatically start to have a connection with that
song. Then the song starts to represent you and your life because of the lyrics. Some songs show
about being a fighter, having freedom, or just being you. There's a billion of songs out there and
there's a billion of people who connect with those songs. Usually the most common reason why
some songs represent people is by their past experience. For me some songs represent me because I
decided to follow my dreams, living in the moment, and get right back up.
Being a teenager in high school you dream about having the same career as your friend or going to
the same college as them but for me and my friends it was reverse. They were more comfortable
performing in a band, or acting, and singing. While I was more comfortable standing there and give a
speech than they were. But being a shy high schooler you rather be with your friends than by
yourself. Listening to 'Social Casualty' changed my thoughts. Just by hearing the lyrics I knew the
song and I shared the same problem. I took my chance and signed up for my classes which was
entirely different than all my other friends. Even if I'm alone in a class I could always play this just

Comparing Song Of Songs And Sappho's Love Poems
Both the Song of Songs and Sappho's love poems stem from the core concept of the overall intimacy
and indescribable nature of love. Both reach to describe love by comparing to the beauty of nature
and the underlying feelings presented by nature; however, the two differ in their specific context of
love. The Song of Songs covers what would be today called the "honeymoon phase" where the love
is sweet, perfect and what the world envisions, whereas Sappho takes the melancholic side of love,
focused on entrapment, and overall heartbreak. These differences create completely different stories
of love, one of life long happiness, and one of chasing love. The Song of Songs develops a theme of
love with its use of naturalistic comparisons. Throughout the song, both the bride and bridegroom ...

Allusions to the environment are also present in Sappho's love poems, in fact, using many of the
same comparisons used in the Song of Songs, seemingly for the same purpose; to paint a picture of
love. Under the surface though, Sappho is painting a beautiful picture of love to win over the help of
Aphrodite to help satisfy her need for a fulfilling love, as is a common theme in her poems. Present
in both Song of Songs and Sappho's love poems, is the comparison of the rushing feeling of love to
a stream of water, a protective, but fruitful apple tree, all placed within a pleasant garden. The
stream in the Song of Songs is "a spring shut up" (132), representing a love that wishes to flow/be
consummated, but ultimately cannot because of societal limitations, whereas

Song of Solomon Quotation Explication Test
3. The passage from Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison describes Milkman's confrontation with his
mother, Ruth, at the cemetery. Before, Macon has convinced Milkman to be disgusted of Ruth
because of Ruth's supposed affair with her father and Ruth's nature as a sexual deviant. One day,
Milkman follows Ruth to see with his own eyes the proof that Ruth is a sexual deviant, and
Milkman is led to the cemetery. Milkman confronts Ruth whom reveals that she did not have an
affair with her father. Ruth says, "No. But I did kneel there in my slip at his bedside and kiss his
beautiful fingers," which contradicts Macon's account of what happened. Ruth, fully clothed, only
kissed the hands of her mother. Ruth did not strip naked and kiss her father on the mouth like Macon
said. Then, Milkman points out Ruth's nursing of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This passage from the Song of Solomon describes Lena's confrontation with Milkman after
Milkman ratted out Corinthian's relationship with Porter to Macon which led to Macon breaking up
the relationship and evicting Porter from the apartments. The passage says, "When you slept, we
were quiet; when you were hungry, we cooked; when you wanted to play, we entertained you." Lena
has had enough of catering to Milkman and Milkman pissing on everyone. Lena and Corinthian has
slaved away for Milkman's comfort without a single thank you, and they developed a strong sisterly
bond as a result. So, when Milkman ruined Corinthian's relationship, it was the last straw for Lena
and she wanted Milkman out of the house. Milkman was trying to be a better persona and calmly
said, " Lena, cool it. I don't want to hear it." However, Milkman came out as apathetic and uncaring
to Lena who replies that the only reason Milkman has "the right to decide our lives" is due to the
"that hog's gut that hangs down between your legs." Proving that while Milkman is starting to

Song of Solomon Essay: Devotion and Protection
Devotion and Protection in Song of Solomon
Song of Solomon is a novel written by Toni Morrison. As research is done further, into the bible, the
title refers to a book from the Old Testament. A major theme of the book in the bible is love. It is
about honor and loyalty. This is similar to the theme of love and protection in the book by Toni
Morrison.
Three female characters that portray this best are: Pilate, Ruth, and Magdalene called Lena. In the
book, they are women that try to protect the people they love from men in their family. In the bible,
they hold similar roles of devotion to those that they love.
In Song of Solomon, Pilate is a strong–willed and independent woman. The reason that Ruth goes to
her, is to protect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the bible, Ruth has a chance to go and protect herself and find a husband, but she stays with her
mother in law. She has a chance to help herself, but she does the honorable thing and stays with
Naomi (Ruth 1:10–14).
Even though Pilate is seen as very powerful, she cannot always protect everything that is precious to
her. She attempts to help Hagar and prevent her from killing Milkman (129). Pilate loves both Hagar
and Milkman and tries to protect them both. Despite her efforts Hagar cannot be controlled. She
tries numerous times to hurt Milkman and does not stop until her death. Pilate knows that Hagar is
slowly hurting herself and can only be stopped by Milkman, but she cannot make Hagar understand
(130). Hagar is so demented that she kills herself because of her obsession. In the bible, Pilate is
also ambiguous about what to do. He knows that Jesus is innocent, but he also knows that it will
bring him trouble if he disobeys the people ( John 19:12).
Not much attention is given to Magdalene called Lena, but she is always seen as the quiet caregiver
that holds things together and protects. When Milkman was young, Lena took care of him when no
one else would (34–5). When she sees that her sister is being hurt, she goes to confront those that
cause the pain (214–6). Milkman had no good reason to tell Macon about Corinthians's relationship
with Porter. Because he does so,

The theme is how when you have a tough, important moment in life, you have to make the best of it
and move along. An image for these lyrics will help you connect to the theme because you can see
what is going on and a picture will help you understand something more. In my next paragraph, I
will be talking about how the singers used repetition to emphasize certain points. In these songs,
lyrics were repeated. Repetition draws the listener's attention to particular words or phrases. In the
song, Time of Your Life, the singer repeats the line, "It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's
right. I hope you had the time of your life." This line is repeated throughout the song multiple times.
The singer is emphasizing the fact that anything can happen when you make your choice but in the
end, you have to just relax and be happy. He wants the audience to really understand it. In the other
song, the line, "Move along, move along. Just to make it through" The singer is repeating the term,
"Move along" because that is the main message in this song. It is to move along when things seem
bad. The singer wants the audience to really get the message and to feel good when they relate to
this song. These lines connect to the theme because they are talking about moving on in tough
situations and being satisfied with the outcome. These lyrics were emphasized well. Besides
repetition, the singers also used symbols and juxtaposition to

Song Analysis: Hotel Ceiling
Alivia Lohmeier "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt." This quote is a
lie because words have the power to build someone up or bring someone to tears. This is why lyrics
are one of the most important parts of songwriting. The lyrics give the song meaning. Some songs,
however, have more meaning than others do, and the value of their lyrics varies based on the
listener. "Hotel Ceiling" by Rixton is meaningful song because the song shows personal hardships of
getting the news that a loved one has died, something no one should ever have to go through. In
"Hotel Ceiling," the singer sees on the news that his friend or girlfriend, one of the most important
people in his life, had been killed. For example, in the first part of the song, he says "on the TV they
said they had reported you dead." This leads into the rest of the song as how he decides to cope with
the loss. This method of coping however, may not be the greatest. For, in the start of the chorus, he
says, "I've been staring at the hotel ceiling drinking everything I've found this evening." This quote
talks about drinking, a method many use when coping with a loss, which is why this song has such

shock subsides and everything is sorted out, he can start the process of moving on and getting better.
The hurt never completely goes away, however, for at the end of the chorus Rixton sings, "so I'll
never let you go, don't you leave me lonely." This quote says that he's never going to let go of the
loved one that he's lost, and he'll always remember them, and that there's that lingering sense of

Theme Of Names In Song Of Solomon

Song of Solomon Names Names are apart of all cultures and have major significance to the
recipients of the name and further to the society as a whole. People are identified by the name
provided to them at birth. This such name can be derived from a variety of different origins,
depending heavily upon what ethnicity, or culture the child is born into. A parent provides their child
with a name that they believe has some kind of significance, or a deeper symbolic meaning to their
family. Throughout one's life, they might acquire a number of nicknames. Nicknames can reflect
how others perceive a certain person, or even how that person views himself, inferring either a
positive or negative connotation. In Songs of Solomon, many characters have names that provide a
deeper insight on their true identity in the novel. Whether the character is trying to escape the reality
of their name or not, the name itself still establishes truth behind theirs actions and who they came
from. Names in Song of Solomon ultimately establish a character's behavioral traits and cultural
background, advancing the direction of the novel.
In the novel, many of the characters are provided with names of either biblical or mythological
descent. These such names provide insight as to the identity of the character in the novel and further
the purpose of the character in the progression of the plot. Many of the children's names were

Racism In Toni Morrison's Song Of Solomon
Title Analysis The title of Toni Morrison's acclaimed novel "Song of Solomon" has a few meanings
that can go along with it. The first is an allusion to the biblical book "Song of Songs" or commonly

meaning is a reference to the protagonist's great grandfather whose name was Solomon and had a
song about him in which Solomon could fly and left his son Jake on the ground and inevitably to a
white man's house. Major Themes Racism: Racism plays a very pivotal role in this work as it shapes
a character thoroughly and even an entire group. Racism is seen to affect Guitar and the Seven Days

From the very first chapter we see Mr. Robert Smith take flight from the roof of the Mercy Hospital
where he was trying to escape his life and we even hear a song from Pilate where she says "O
Sugarman done fly away". As the first part of the novel progresses we see Milkman at an internal
struggle as he wants to fly away and escape from his father and his hometown in general. When
Milkman takes an literal flight as to search for information about his past he comes to appreciate his
ancestors and family as a whole and even learns about his great grandfather who was known as a
flying African and was the premise to the song that Pilate sang but was actually sung "Solomon
done fly, Solomon done gone". Death also plays with the theme of flight as when Pilate is killed a
bird swoops down on the grave she made for her father and picks up her earring which symbolizes
her flying away. Even with Milkman's final confrontation with Guitar he takes his knowledge of his
journey and thinks to himself "If you surrendered to the air, you could ride

Wilson Songs Analysis
Have you ever got a song stuck in your head from hearing your friend singing it? Or made up the
lyrics to a song you don't know the words to? Well robins do that all the time too says a study from
"The Wilson Journal of Ornithology." The study looked how similar or unique robin's songs were to
their peers and raised the very interesting question do robins make up there own songs or is it copied
from other robins in their community? Robins sing for a number of reasons. The two main reasons
are to attract mates and keep intruders out of their territory. Robin's songs are comprised of what are
called "elements." Elements are comprised of one or more musical notes. The robin has two types of
elements that it uses in its song. The most common and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also found that only 5 of the robins had elements in common with robins not neighboring them.
Which proves that robins do in fact imitate robins that are near by. While males from the same site
shared more elements then other sites Steven L. Johnson also found though that the majority of the
elements found in the robins song ended up being unique to them. So unique in fact he was able to
identify them just by song after a while of recording them. Where as for the hatchlings there was
evidence of the robins both inventing and imitating because the percentage of shared elements
varied greatly. However the robins did produce their own unique elements that were different from
any of the tapes provided. Proving that robins in fact do produce their own unique elements. He also
found that the nestlings had more elements in common with each other then the tapes suggesting
that robins learn quite a bit from their peers. Overall the results of the two different experiments
suggested that social interaction with other robins encourages robins to imitate their neighbors
suggesting that the benefits of sharing elements are for a large part social. It also suggests that it is
unlikely that a large amount of sharing is due to songs learned or imitated from a robin's parents or
family members due to the fact that two twins were placed near each other and copied very little of
each others song's compared to other hatchlings. A Possible interpretation is that there is a just a
predisposition for robins to learn from their parents or relatives. So to answerer the question
"imitation or invention?" The answer is both. Robins both imitate their neighbors and create their
own music, similarly to us humans. Further research is required to explain why robins both create
and copy songs as well as what role different song types

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Song Lyrics
I'm inspired by this song to keep my head up high, not to give up so easily. Reading the lyrics and
taking notice in the music introduced me to a different concept, despite how hard times can get,
someone else is having a tough time also. I've found interest in her overall message, sharing her
struggle and hurt with her audience brings a deeper connection, other than singing a song she has no
relation with. Her experience with hurt spoke to me as a fellow singer, it encouraged my life lessons
from past hurts to say a little pray, and depend solely on faith. Hope, and faith which will assist me
along through my low valley of hurt. The better days that are described as her background vocals

Comparing The Song 'Clean' And Taylor's Song Stitches
In every breakup leaving the relationship is not the hard part, it's the past put into the relationship
that's hard to let go. Shawn and Taylor use various symbols and imagery to illustrate what goes and
comes out of leaving a relationship. Their lyrics not only contain symbols and imagery, but also both
share their different views of ending a relationship. Shawn's song "Stitches," talks about a teenage
boy getting over his first breakup verses Taylor's song "Clean," goes in the direction of a girl that
went through a relationship that she cannot get over, but eventually has to in the end. These two
songs have many details that correlate with the artist's personal thoughts on torn relationships. For
that reason, imagery, song structure, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the chorus of the song he says, "And now that I'm without your kisses, I'll be needing stitches".
What he means, is that it takes time to get over a relationship that once was passionate, but now
broken. That once burning with love feeling that he had turned into a broken heart that's getting
mended over time. Another line in the song, in which he says "Needle and the thread, gotta get you
out of my head". He says this line a number amount of times throughout the entire song. He's trying
to get over the entire relationship, but keeps remembering the good things that came out of the
relationship. The way he set up his song one can already tell the emotional pain he has probably
gone through. The emotion came throughout the song when he fused a broken relationship with the
act of stitching. Relationships start to get stitched up piece by piece until the pain of a broken heart
is forgotten. While in Taylor's song "Clean," her perspective comes through the various references of
water. From the start of the song, "The drought was the worst, When the flowers that we'd grown
together died of thirst." Which automatically references water, but also that the relationship she once
had died out like flowers dying of thirst. She references relationships fizzling out, to the point of not
having the same feelings anymore. These two songs illustrate the anger and sadness that one goes
through in a relationship that doesn't work out in the end, but once all those feelings go away, so that
major changes will form in

The guitar solo provided more emotional support to the lyrics of the song. It wasn't loud and it
wasn't soft. It was right in the middle. The song had a medium tempo and the dynamic of the song is
soft to high and then back to soft. Because of the soothing and soft to high dynamic of the song with
the guitar producing the support, you feel the emotions the song is trying to provide. Most of the
lyrics are repeated in song and the main vocalist said this line ("I don't want to leave her now. You
know I believe and how") throughout the song, which is the main idea behind the song. The main
idea the song is trying to portray is how there's something special in the person he loves and he can't
let her go. He said "Attracts me like no other lover" and" That I don't need no other lover" which
means the girl he loves is irreplaceable. The lyrics of this song are relatable to everyone because it's

One Republic: Song Analysis
For my first Song I picked ordinary human by One Republic. I picked this song as When Jace and
Clary first see each other. In the book they are both surprised. Jace is surprised because he saw that
Clary could see him kill the blue haired boy. This is shown in the beginning of the song when it says
today I felt a switch in my veins meaning that today something irregular happened. Then it says I
used to be a shadow implying that someone can now see him which is Clary who can not only see
him but later in the movie can see him figuratively as in she can tell what he is feeling and she
knows him better than anyone because they are brother and sister. Then the song says now a shadow
screaming my name. This describes the moment when Clary sees the blue haired boy die and she
screams. Next the song says in the daylight I could swear we were the same. ... Show more content

I picked this song as music that would play in the movie when Jace and Clary go into the flower
garden that lights up at night. This song would be played with no speaking the entire seen until the
end. There are many ways this song could be related to the book but i chose just a couple for
shortened writing purposes. There is a lyric that says that I want to shelter you but with the beast
inside there's nowhere we can hide. This is implying that Jace is wanting to protect Clary not as a
sister yet but as a loved one and then as seen later in the series he is a monster truly because he is
part demon. Another lyric says this is my kingdom come. This is symbolic because the mansion they
live in looks like a huge castle and because Jace says that this in his favorite place in the mansion
therefore this is his kingdom. The next lyric says when you feel my heat look into my eyes it's where
my demons hide. This is again referring to his inner demon but this is also describing the seen in the
flower garden when they kiss and they are all dreamy looking into each other's

How to Write a Song Essay
"How to Write a Song" by Allyson Jones Think back to the last time you heard your favorite song.
You plant your headphones on, close your eyes, and completely immerse yourself in the music. You
hang on to every word and every note, enchanted by the passionate vocals and addictive melodies.
But have you ever wondered what really goes into making a song? Every Songwriter uses different
methods to compose a song. In fact, if you were to type "how to write a song" in a Google search
bar, you would get about 685 million results! When it comes to songwriting, the possibilities are
endless. After years of trial and error, I've come up with a simple, four step process on how to write

Inspiration can strike at any time, so always be prepared to document your idea. This is where the
recording device comes into play. The Inspiration usually comes in the form of a melody. When a
melody hits you, its important to record it as soon as possible. There's nothing worse than coming up
with a great melody while sitting on a train, or driving in rush hour traffic, and having no way to
document it, so be prepared! Don't be afraid to hum the melody into your recording device, or sing it
in gibberish. At this point, words are not important. Next, you need to build upon the melody.
Decide what sort of vibe this melody portrays, and stick to it! Is it sad, happy, angry? Then use your
instrument of choice, a guitar in my case, to make a sample melody for the song. I use the words
"sample melody" because It will be subject to change, depending on the lyrics and structure of the
song. You'll need that pen and paper for this next step. The next step, and by far the most important,
is to write the lyrics. Lyrics can make or break a song. Before writing the lyrics, it is important to
ask questions: What are you trying to get across to the listener? What is the atmosphere of the song?
Are you telling a story? Once you've answered these questions, you can develop the theme of your
song. You also have to consider the structure. There are generally 4 components to a song: the verse,
pre–chorus, chorus, and bridge. The opening line should grab the listener's

Summary Of The Song 'Pretty Hurts'
Music is a really powerful thing that should not be taken lightly nor underestimated. Every song has
the ability to explore themes and issues in society through lyrics and music videos. In December of
2013, successful singer songwriter Beyoncé Knowles came out with a lyrically challenging song,
"Pretty Hurts" which exposes the reality of the pageant world and in turn, the real world. The
combination of techniques and conventions used in both the lyrics and the music video such as
camera angles and symbolism are successfully used to create an effective song which reveals the
harsh reality of society, the high standards placed upon women to be 'beautiful' and 'pretty' and the
lengths young women go to just to fit in and the consequences of this. ... Show more content on

We can see this happening within "Pretty Hurts" right after Beyoncé is asked what her aspiration in
life is and she answers in three simple words: to be happy. The most repeated words in the song
being "pretty hurts" is emphasised even more as Beyoncé begins realising what the toxic world of
beauty is doing to her and decides to wreck her shelf of trophies which she is seen standing in front
of earlier on in the music video. The symbolism of knocking down the trophies portrays that she is
knocking down beauty standards and falling into a victim of that, underlying all of these messages
we can see that the world of beauty doesn't bring you happiness or inner peace and it most certainly
doesn't help you move forward in

Essay on Spirituality in Song of Solomon
Inclusive Spirituality in Song of Solomon
When slaves were brought to America they were taken from all they had known and forced to live in
a land of dark irony that, while promising life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, provided them
with only misery. In a situation such as the one in which the slaves found themselves, many people
would rely on their religion to help them survive. But would slaves be able to find spiritual comfort
within the parameters of a religion that had been passed on to them from the slaveholders? In Toni
Morrison's Song of Solomon, African–Americans struggle to find a spirituality that is responsive to
their needs and that encompasses their experiences in a way that the religion of the dominant ...

Perhaps more than even giving the reader a clue about what is to come, Morrison gives readers this
scene in an attempt to pique interest in the meaning of words. Perhaps Morrison is showing readers
that just because a word has meant one thing in the past, it is not precluded from taking on other
meanings as well. For the readers of Song, that is exactly what happens.
In Morrison's story, the name Pilate loses its original meaning of Christ killer and gains the meaning
of one who has control of the direction of her life. Pilate is a seeker. She asks, "What do I need to
know to stay alive?" and "What is true in the world?" (149). Dominant culture might only need to
ask about truth. Minority culture asks about survival. Because of her gift for penetrating to the heart
of her own experience, Pilate becomes a person who can guide others.
The most prominent of all the uses of biblical names in the story is the title itself, Song of Solomon.
Throughout the novel, a non–minority reader, recalling the biblical Song of Songs or Song of
Solomon as the title is often translated in English Bibles, has the image before them of sensual love
poetry. However, a reader who, because of the title, is expecting a sensual love story will be
wondering how

Review Of The Song 'The Show'

Song Analysis Of The Song 'Perfect' By Pink
Music is a great thing that is a special part of everyone's life. No one can go a single day without
hearing some type of music and not fall in love with it. Music gives people that inspiration that they
need, mentally and physically. It also takes on this role, where it gives many answers for people.
Some songs even help people who are struggling with finding themselves.
When listeners relate to a song, it allows them to feel empowered and it makes people feel like the
artist has written that song for them. A lot of songs that grab someone's attention are personal songs.
For example, "Perfect" by Pink, makes people look deep within them and lets them know that they
are perfect, no matter what. "Unpretty" by TLC, tells a person that looks do not decide who that
person is. Songs like these are huge motivational songs. People get bullied often and try to change
who they are, to fit in with society.
"Perfect" by Pink, came from her album Greatest Hits So Far, in 2010. Pink stated that she wrote
this song, for her husband. This song expresses how Pink went through her struggles of depression,
self–harm and attempting suicide. Pink created this song because she wanted her viewers to
understand what people go through. Pink also wrote this song for her then unborn child, because she
wanted to let her child know, that she will accept him/her with love and compassion.

A Song Analysis: Blurred Lines
All throughout the summer a song was constantly blasting through speakers singing about blurred
lines, but what lines are being blurred?
Blurred Lines is a popular summer song that is constantly played on the radio. A song like "Blurred
Lines" should not be played on public radio. A big problem with "Blurred Lines" is that it attempts
to normalize disrespectful behavior towards women. Robin Thicke teamed up with rapper T.I. and
singer–producer Pharrell to deliver arguably this summer's most popular song. The song "Blurred
Lines" has placed number one on the billboard hot 100 and has sold over one million copies. Critical
reception of the track is mostly positive. Yet with the success comes a not so positive response.
When first listening to the song a person might find themselves nodding your head to a catchy tune,
but perhaps once a person listens closely to the lyrics some people may not want this song on their
iPods.
Summer hit "Blurred Lines" is one of the radio's most played songs currently. The song is placed at
number one on America's top 40 charts for the week of September 14th. While it is popular, the
lyrics paint a story of someone who wants the singer, but is a good girl. The message of the song is
blurring lines of morality. Not only is the song soliciting sexual themes, but it goes as far as using
derogatory names towards the said good girl. Also, the song has strong themes of guilting someone
into sex, claiming that not many can refuse T.I.'s pimping. The song

Meaning Of The Song 'This Will End'
"This Will End" by The Oh Hellos, is a song that talks about not staying with a lover, that isn't
giving you need, and the hurt that comes with it. The second verse of this song starts out by saying
"But I can hope how this will end, with every line of comedy, that we could learn to love without
demand, but undeserved honesty" (AZLyrics 2). This is the first hint of the meaning of the song. The
song is talking about an abusive relationship. He is pleading that they would learn how to love each
other, just for love, and to be honest with each other. The song goes on with the fourth verse, and
says "I can see how this will end, in all it's bitter tragedy, I'll give you all I have to spend, and you'll
give nothing back to me" (AZLyrics 4). The

Love Songs Essay
Every day on the radio, there is bound to be a love song playing somewhere. These types of songs
can seem upbeat and happy, but that is just the music playing behind the lyrics. The music in these
songs are written in a major key which make the song sound lively and cheerful. Even with the
darkest meaning behind the lyrics, the music can give off different perspectives. Many people
believe that love songs are about love but in reality some of those songs have a depressing story
behind them. Many love songs are not love songs at all if one examines the lyrics.
In fact the song "It will rain" by Bruno Mars is a clear example of a love song with a complete
different meaning to it than love. The verse " if you ever leave me baby leave some ... Show more

One last thing he says is "I can't feel my face when I'm with you, but I love it." This refers to the
state of being wasted or high. He loves the emotions and feeling he gets when he is doing these
drugs.
Furthermore, another example of a song with a darker meaning would be "Little Talks" by Of
Monsters and Men. This song is another example of many songs that don't quite refer to love. For
instance this song without paying close attention to the lyrics is a conversation between two people
that love each other. In reality it's an illusion a woman is having with a supposed man as stated in
the verse, "I miss our little talks." As the song continues the woman gives of a hint when the song
reads, "you're gone, gone, gone away... Just let me go, we'll meet again soon." This verse
foreshadows that the woman is slowly getting lost in mental illness after the death of her partner.
That's why her illusions are fulfilling that empty space that her partner left behind when he died.
Many artists write songs that can be interpreted in many different ways, and the songs stated above
are not an exception to this rule. Taking a closer look at the lyrics and analyzing them can show a
better meaning of what the artist is trying to tell the listener. Many artists try to conceal a hidden
message in their songs to hide their darkest secrets to prevent a bad reputation against them. With

My Love Song
It is incredible that you can make such a jazzy and fun song and put a dark and depressing twist on it
by just controlling the lyrics. I love all kind of music and when I mean all kind, I really mean all
kind. The reason for why I listen to a song can vary depending on the situation, mood, etc. For this
particular song, I was introduced to this song by my friend showing me the song while we were just
hanging out and she thought that I would love the song. And the thing is that I did love the song and
decided to put the song on repeat for the rest of the week. At first, I enjoyed it for the beat and the
overall tone of the song. One random day, it was completely silence, and all I was doing was riding
the bus to go to school. In that moment, my brain was only focused on the lyrics, and noticed that
this song lyrically does not match the tone that the musician created. The song was created by the
band, "Foster the People", and the song was called "Pumped Up Kicks". To summarize the song, it
is about a child named Robert that wants to cause violence towards his classmates and peers in a
school setting. When I would listen to this song, it would usually be because I wanted to listen to
something that would boost my mood, or when I'm with friends and need a nice background song to
play. I wish I was able to play you the first 20 seconds of the song for you can come up with your
own judgment about how the song makes you feel. For then when you listen to the lyrics yourself

  • 3. Cover Songs Comparison In the music industry, it is not uncommon for original songs to be rerecorded and altered by other artists resulting in what is known as a cover song. One example of this situations occurrence can be seen in Vance Joy's indie folk–pop song, "Riptide", that was famously covered by pop and country crossover artist, Taylor Swift. Overall, there are many factors that go into the relationship between an original and cover song and the artists of each song. Such as both artist's connection to the song and the relationship between the artists themselves. There are also differences between the original and cover songs themselves including song structure, instrumentation, vocals, lyrics, and lyrical meaning. Vance Joy and Taylor Swift met for the first time backstage in New York at the Late Night Show with David Letterman (Whitney). By the time for their first meeting, Swift had already covered Joy's hit single, "Riptide", on a British radio station and announced her invitation for Joy to join her as the opening act on her international 1989 tour (Adams). Though Joy is an indie folk–pop singer and Swift a country, pop singer, the two managed to join their audiences together and create continued mass popularity for "Riptide" as well as promote listeners of both genres to hear the two perform at the 1989 tour. As Joy was used to performing in smaller venues, the packed auditoriums that Swift's tour filled were a new experience for him and encouraged him to step outside his ... • 5. Drake's Song Too Good Drake's song "Too Good" is, in many ways an amazing work of art. Two amazing artists– Drake and Rhianna– sing this song. While listening to a song there are a few criteria's that should be followed and those are: rhythm, meaning, and voice, in which all are met in this song. First, lets discuss the rhythm that takes place in this song in particular. According to Merriam Webster's Dictionary, rhythm is defined as "a regular, repeated pattern of sounds or movements." In this song the rhythm is consistent and has a catchy beat. Since the songs style is labeled as "contemporary hip–hop" the rhythm properly corresponds with it by using many instruments, which make up the pattern of sounds that are heard in the background of the singers. Rhythm is very important in a music piece because its one of the first things that catches the audiences attention. In addition to rhythm being important criteria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Merriam Webster's Dictionary the definition of voice is "the ability to sing." This is probably the most important criterion because an audience doesn't want to listen to a song that contains a horrible voice. This song is a perfect example of two amazing voices. Drake, a famous hip–hop and rap artist, and Rhianna, another famous hip–hop artist, sing this song as a duet. Their voices fit perfectly in this song because they both have a serious tone in their voice to relate with the situation the song is addressing. For example, this song couldn't be sang by two singers that have a high pitch happy voices because the message that is being portrayed is more of a serious tone rather than a happy tone; therefore, these two singers voices fit the part very well. Overall, the song "Too Good" by Drake and Rhianna is met extremely well with the three criteria's of rhythm, meaning, and voice. This song portrays a great meaning, that has excellent rhythm and voices of singers that fit the style of music it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Songs Break Up Songs Break–Up Songs Throughout Different Genres What does Paris by The Chainsmokers, Say Something by A Great Big World, and Here Comes Goodbye by Rascal Flatts all have in common? They are break–up songs. Each in their own way, all of these songs are about pain and sadness caused by break–ups. Some of these songs are meant to cause an already sad person to cope with their sadness by pushing them farther into "The Abyss". A few are meant to touch on the happier memories of the relationship giving someone hope that they will love again. All of these songs, through their lyrics, structure, and rhythm, are all meant to cope with a person's sadness that results from a break–up. Paris by the Chainsmokers is a song that reflects on the happy side of a relationship that is rarely seen in break–ups. The song is essentially the writer remembering a relationship with fondness. It tells the tale of two young lovers on their own and in love who eventually break apart. It also touches on happy memories like the lyrics "We were staying in paris,/ to get away from your parents" (Chainsmokers, 1–2). By highlighting the highs instead of lows, it shows the listener that they should not be sad about their loss but happy that they ever got to experience the joy and happiness that most relationships provide. Almost no relationships end with happiness but this song shows that it is possible to think happily of a relationship that has ended. This song also uses higher pitched, electronic music to ... • 11. Yellow Song Monologue Perhaps I am not drunk enough to get this sufficiently down on paper, but I am here now, come back to something which only I must endure on my own. I listen to your songs and feel as though they may be an insurmountable hill that I shall not ever find peace upon again. And oh, how they once brought me comfort and knowledge. But if only I could have had just some parts of you, the music would have been one of the best. From your songs and albums I have learned more of you and your enormous soul and love than had you ever spoken the feelings aloud. Then from the cacophony of your heart's truth set to tune, we stumbled upon a few melodies with which to call our own– songs invented purely for the two of us. Now, in the aftermath of what has been real, I cannot fathom to listen to the Yellow Songbirds no more. In all of it and for what ever must come next, I am afraid that I will never be able to hear some things again without a shiver of pain and remorse. Whatever this has been– continues to be– it will never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have lived and seen the carelessness with which many take in the stories and serious sentiments of others. There are parts of me that are very selfish, but I am trying to be softer, to be better for those that deserve it, and abstain from those who do not. What I am trying to say is that you deserve the best parts of me– I am trying to find a way to give them to you. But it is hard to begin speaking after so long resigned to silence. Perhaps I could have reached out to others more– perhaps some may have been worth some semblance of trust. But I do not wish to trust anyone but if not fully. The thing is, the simple thing that I need to have be understood, is that I feel like I could trust you with anything. My only reservations now are the parts of me, the gloom that has fallen at previously unwelcome times, which may scare you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Island Song Analysis Most people can say that one of the most important things in life is happiness. Happiness is key to a worthy life. When you are happy, you go about your day much better than if you are sad or angry. Happiness occurs internally but external factors such as music can always help. Music is responsible for extracting certain emotions, such as happiness, in any listener. I chose to call my playlist "It's Going to Be a Good Day" because everyone needs a playlist to start off their day right by listening to songs that instigate happiness. I chose this theme because personally I believe that happiness is very important in my life. If I am not happy, then I cannot be efficient in the different things I do. This song is polyphonic because it contains two voices accompanied by instrumentation. The tempo is upbeat and creating a feeling of happiness. The male voice's timbre is raspy and soulful. The melody shows the sentiments that the two singers are promising each other during the chorus. The instrumentation included strings, which gave the song a sweet and catch tone, and the drums gave a pulsating drums that keeps the song upbeat. • 17. English Song Critique The first goal I set for the second quarter was to "Write and record an English song." While I did not completely finish a song, I developed instrumentals, lyrics, and melody lines for two songs. Interestingly, I brainstormed the ideas for both projects while walking my dog, Bandit. The first, which I have tentatively titled "Melody," started with me humming a rhythmic piano part, then a melody line. Next, I developed the instrumental in GarageBand, with an electric guitar part as a placeholder for the vocals. I found some really cool techno/electronic effects, percussion parts, and bass parts, and utilized them in my project. I scribbled some rough lyric ideas, then brought them into class one day and implored Vanessa to help me finish the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The singer could be the significant other of a criminal, or perhaps their child, wondering about the psychological meaning behind the criminal's behavior. It will likely develop into a "story song," which "contains the easily recognized elements of telling a narrative, linear story – beginning, middle and end, with a recognizable story arc that contains the classic elements of drama and delivery;" it also has "relatable imagery" to appeal to audiences (Anderson). Unlike "Melody," for this song I developed the melody of the chorus first, building around the opening line "you're an outlaw." While I was singing, I couldn't help but feel that the song sounded Taylor Swift–like, which is a very different sound from my other two pieces. I didn't want to forget my song idea, so as soon as I returned home after the walk, I recorded the melody in GarageBand using my MIDI keyboard and worked out some lyrics. I fleshed out the track with guitar chords and a drum beat, and later recorded the vocals in the vocal booth. In the second semester, I will compose the verses and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Three minutes is all it takes to send a message and have it resonate with its intended audience. All songs are written to have a meaning, but many listeners rarely analyze the lyrics to understand what the meaning really is. Unlike the article "17 Things You Should Do If You Are Struggling With Self– Love", song lyrics are purposefully written in an indirect way so that the meaning is almost hidden from the audience. The messages in the article tend to be easier to identify since many people tend to analyze written material rather than songs. • 21. Personal Essay: Song Analysis Listening to the lyrics of your favorite song you automatically start to have a connection with that song. Then the song starts to represent you and your life because of the lyrics. Some songs show about being a fighter, having freedom, or just being you. There's a billion of songs out there and there's a billion of people who connect with those songs. Usually the most common reason why some songs represent people is by their past experience. For me some songs represent me because I decided to follow my dreams, living in the moment, and get right back up. Being a teenager in high school you dream about having the same career as your friend or going to the same college as them but for me and my friends it was reverse. They were more comfortable performing in a band, or acting, and singing. While I was more comfortable standing there and give a speech than they were. But being a shy high schooler you rather be with your friends than by yourself. Listening to 'Social Casualty' changed my thoughts. Just by hearing the lyrics I knew the song and I shared the same problem. I took my chance and signed up for my classes which was entirely different than all my other friends. Even if I'm alone in a class I could always play this just to motivate me to follow my dreams than someone else. The song represent me because I didn't want to be a follower in my ... "I Will Be There" by Art Of Dying – This song is a good example to show how a person can be very important in your life and how a good friend will be there for you when you need it. Johnny and Ponyboy were a good example of friends that support each other. "Brothers Under the Sun" by Bryan Adams– This song show the relationship between the brothers. Ponyboy, Sodapop and Darry. Although the real world is tough and twisting, he will never change. The band has released many songs that help to carry a similar message ever since the debut of this song in 2011. At 00:00, the song begins with a strong drum line. It is harsh and sudden as though it is meant to surprise the listener rather than a softer intro. It is meant to get the listeners' attention as well as to put them in the same mindset as the band. • 27. Comparing Song Of Songs And Sappho's Love Poems Both the Song of Songs and Sappho's love poems stem from the core concept of the overall intimacy and indescribable nature of love. Both reach to describe love by comparing to the beauty of nature and the underlying feelings presented by nature; however, the two differ in their specific context of love. The Song of Songs covers what would be today called the "honeymoon phase" where the love is sweet, perfect and what the world envisions, whereas Sappho takes the melancholic side of love, focused on entrapment, and overall heartbreak. These differences create completely different stories of love, one of life long happiness, and one of chasing love. The Song of Songs develops a theme of love with its use of naturalistic comparisons. Throughout the song, both the bride and bridegroom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Allusions to the environment are also present in Sappho's love poems, in fact, using many of the same comparisons used in the Song of Songs, seemingly for the same purpose; to paint a picture of love. Under the surface though, Sappho is painting a beautiful picture of love to win over the help of Aphrodite to help satisfy her need for a fulfilling love, as is a common theme in her poems. Present in both Song of Songs and Sappho's love poems, is the comparison of the rushing feeling of love to a stream of water, a protective, but fruitful apple tree, all placed within a pleasant garden. The stream in the Song of Songs is "a spring shut up" (132), representing a love that wishes to flow/be consummated, but ultimately cannot because of societal limitations, whereas ... The passage from Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison describes Milkman's confrontation with his mother, Ruth, at the cemetery. Before, Macon has convinced Milkman to be disgusted of Ruth because of Ruth's supposed affair with her father and Ruth's nature as a sexual deviant. One day, Milkman follows Ruth to see with his own eyes the proof that Ruth is a sexual deviant, and Milkman is led to the cemetery. Milkman confronts Ruth whom reveals that she did not have an affair with her father. Ruth says, "No. But I did kneel there in my slip at his bedside and kiss his beautiful fingers," which contradicts Macon's account of what happened. Ruth, fully clothed, only kissed the hands of her mother. Ruth did not strip naked and kiss her father on the mouth like Macon said. Then, Milkman points out Ruth's nursing of ... This passage from the Song of Solomon describes Lena's confrontation with Milkman after Milkman ratted out Corinthian's relationship with Porter to Macon which led to Macon breaking up the relationship and evicting Porter from the apartments. Lena has had enough of catering to Milkman and Milkman pissing on everyone. Lena and Corinthian has slaved away for Milkman's comfort without a single thank you, and they developed a strong sisterly bond as a result. So, when Milkman ruined Corinthian's relationship, it was the last straw for Lena and she wanted Milkman out of the house. Milkman was trying to be a better persona and calmly said, " Lena, cool it. I don't want to hear it." However, Milkman came out as apathetic and uncaring to Lena who replies that the only reason Milkman has "the right to decide our lives" is due to the "that hog's gut that hangs down between your legs." • 31. Song of Solomon Essay: Devotion and Protection Devotion and Protection in Song of Solomon Song of Solomon is a novel written by Toni Morrison. As research is done further, into the bible, the title refers to a book from the Old Testament. A major theme of the book in the bible is love. It is about honor and loyalty. This is similar to the theme of love and protection in the book by Toni Morrison. Three female characters that portray this best are: Pilate, Ruth, and Magdalene called Lena. In the book, they are women that try to protect the people they love from men in their family. In the bible, they hold similar roles of devotion to those that they love. In the bible, Ruth has a chance to go and protect herself and find a husband, but she stays with her mother in law. She has a chance to help herself, but she does the honorable thing and stays with Naomi (Ruth 1:10–14). Even though Pilate is seen as very powerful, she cannot always protect everything that is precious to her. She attempts to help Hagar and prevent her from killing Milkman (129). Pilate loves both Hagar and Milkman and tries to protect them both. Despite her efforts Hagar cannot be controlled. She tries numerous times to hurt Milkman and does not stop until her death. Pilate knows that Hagar is slowly hurting herself and can only be stopped by Milkman, but she cannot make Hagar understand (130). Hagar is so demented that she kills herself because of her obsession. In the bible, Pilate is also ambiguous about what to do. He knows that Jesus is innocent, but he also knows that it will bring him trouble if he disobeys the people ( John 19:12). Not much attention is given to Magdalene called Lena, but she is always seen as the quiet caregiver that holds things together and protects. When Milkman was young, Lena took care of him when no one else would (34–5). When she sees that her sister is being hurt, she goes to confront those that cause the pain (214–6). An image for these lyrics will help you connect to the theme because you can see what is going on and a picture will help you understand something more. In my next paragraph, I will be talking about how the singers used repetition to emphasize certain points. In these songs, lyrics were repeated. Repetition draws the listener's attention to particular words or phrases. In the song, Time of Your Life, the singer repeats the line, "It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life." This line is repeated throughout the song multiple times. The singer is emphasizing the fact that anything can happen when you make your choice but in the end, you have to just relax and be happy. He wants the audience to really understand it. In the other song, the line, "Move along, move along. Just to make it through" The singer is repeating the term, "Move along" because that is the main message in this song. It is to move along when things seem bad. The singer wants the audience to really get the message and to feel good when they relate to this song. This quote is a lie because words have the power to build someone up or bring someone to tears. This is why lyrics are one of the most important parts of songwriting. The lyrics give the song meaning. Some songs, however, have more meaning than others do, and the value of their lyrics varies based on the listener. "Hotel Ceiling" by Rixton is meaningful song because the song shows personal hardships of getting the news that a loved one has died, something no one should ever have to go through. In "Hotel Ceiling," the singer sees on the news that his friend or girlfriend, one of the most important people in his life, had been killed. For example, in the first part of the song, he says "on the TV they said they had reported you dead." This leads into the rest of the song as how he decides to cope with the loss. This method of coping however, may not be the greatest. For, in the start of the chorus, he says, "I've been staring at the hotel ceiling drinking everything I've found this evening." • 41. Racism In Toni Morrison's Song Of Solomon Title Analysis The title of Toni Morrison's acclaimed novel "Song of Solomon" has a few meanings that can go along with it. The first is an allusion to the biblical book "Song of Songs" or commonly know as "Song of Solomon" which is all about sexual themes and desires and that. The next meaning is a reference to the protagonist's great grandfather whose name was Solomon and had a song about him in which Solomon could fly and left his son Jake on the ground and inevitably to a white man's house. Major Themes Racism: Racism plays a very pivotal role in this work as it shapes a character thoroughly and even an entire group. Well robins do that all the time too says a study from "The Wilson Journal of Ornithology." The study looked how similar or unique robin's songs were to their peers and raised the very interesting question do robins make up there own songs or is it copied from other robins in their community? Robins sing for a number of reasons. The two main reasons are to attract mates and keep intruders out of their territory. Robin's songs are comprised of what are called "elements." Elements are comprised of one or more musical notes. The robin has two types of elements that it uses in its song. The most common and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also found that only 5 of the robins had elements in common with robins not neighboring them. Which proves that robins do in fact imitate robins that are near by. While males from the same site shared more elements then other sites Steven L. Johnson also found though that the majority of the elements found in the robins song ended up being unique to them. So unique in fact he was able to identify them just by song after a while of recording them. Where as for the hatchlings there was evidence of the robins both inventing and imitating because the percentage of shared elements varied greatly. However the robins did produce their own unique elements that were different from any of the tapes provided. Proving that robins in fact do produce their own unique elements. He also found that the nestlings had more elements in common with each other then the tapes suggesting that robins learn quite a bit from their peers. Overall the results of the two different experiments suggested that social interaction with other robins encourages robins to imitate their neighbors suggesting that the benefits of sharing elements are for a large part social. It also suggests that it is unlikely that a large amount of sharing is due to songs learned or imitated from a robin's parents or family members due to the fact that two twins were placed near each other and copied very little of each others song's compared to other hatchlings. A Possible interpretation is that there is a just a predisposition for robins to learn from their parents or relatives. So to answerer the question "imitation or invention?" The answer is both. Robins both imitate their neighbors and create their own music, similarly to us humans. Another line in the song, in which he says "Needle and the thread, gotta get you out of my head". He says this line a number amount of times throughout the entire song. He's trying to get over the entire relationship, but keeps remembering the good things that came out of the relationship. The way he set up his song one can already tell the emotional pain he has probably gone through. The emotion came throughout the song when he fused a broken relationship with the act of stitching. From the start of the song, "The drought was the worst, When the flowers that we'd grown together died of thirst." Inspiration can strike at any time, so always be prepared to document your idea. This is where the recording device comes into play. The Inspiration usually comes in the form of a melody. When a melody hits you, its important to record it as soon as possible. There's nothing worse than coming up with a great melody while sitting on a train, or driving in rush hour traffic, and having no way to document it, so be prepared! Don't be afraid to hum the melody into your recording device, or sing it in gibberish. At this point, words are not important. Next, you need to build upon the melody. Decide what sort of vibe this melody portrays, and stick to it! Is it sad, happy, angry? Then use your instrument of choice, a guitar in my case, to make a sample melody for the song. I use the words "sample melody" because It will be subject to change, depending on the lyrics and structure of the song. You'll need that pen and paper for this next step. In December of 2013, successful singer songwriter Beyoncé Knowles came out with a lyrically challenging song, "Pretty Hurts" which exposes the reality of the pageant world and in turn, the real world. The combination of techniques and conventions used in both the lyrics and the music video such as camera angles and symbolism are successfully used to create an effective song which reveals the harsh reality of society, the high standards placed upon women to be 'beautiful' and 'pretty' and the lengths young women go to just to fit in and the consequences of this. ... But would slaves be able to find spiritual comfort within the parameters of a religion that had been passed on to them from the slaveholders? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps more than even giving the reader a clue about what is to come, Morrison gives readers this scene in an attempt to pique interest in the meaning of words. Perhaps Morrison is showing readers that just because a word has meant one thing in the past, it is not precluded from taking on other meanings as well. For the readers of Song, that is exactly what happens. In Morrison's story, the name Pilate loses its original meaning of Christ killer and gains the meaning of one who has control of the direction of her life. Pilate is a seeker. She asks, "What do I need to know to stay alive?" and "What is true in the world?" (149). Dominant culture might only need to ask about truth. Minority culture asks about survival. Because of her gift for penetrating to the heart of her own experience, Pilate becomes a person who can guide others. The most prominent of all the uses of biblical names in the story is the title itself, Song of Solomon. Throughout the novel, a non–minority reader, recalling the biblical Song of Songs or Song of Solomon as the title is often translated in English Bibles, has the image before them of sensual love poetry. • 65. Review Of The Song 'The Show' I like listening to pop music and one of my favorite songs is "The Show" by Lenka. The genre of this song "The Show" is Indie Pop which sounds lighter and less depressing. "The Show" is written by the Australian singer Lenka Kripac and the American singer/songwriter Jason Reeves. This song was released on September 6, 2008, and it was sung by Lenka. Based on my research, I have not found any older song that is familiar with this song "The Show". Therefore, I believe this song is an original song. The tempo of this song is fast, but I can clearly find the beat of "The Show" and the meter is quadruple. This song is significant because when I listen to this song, I feel pleasant and optimistic. Besides, Lenka's voice in this song can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. A Song Analysis: Blurred Lines All throughout the summer a song was constantly blasting through speakers singing about blurred lines, but what lines are being blurred? Blurred Lines is a popular summer song that is constantly played on the radio. A song like "Blurred Lines" should not be played on public radio. A big problem with "Blurred Lines" is that it attempts to normalize disrespectful behavior towards women. Robin Thicke teamed up with rapper T.I. and singer–producer Pharrell to deliver arguably this summer's most popular song. The song "Blurred Lines" has placed number one on the billboard hot 100 and has sold over one million copies. Critical reception of the track is mostly positive. Yet with the success comes a not so positive response. When first listening to the song a person might find themselves nodding your head to a catchy tune, but perhaps once a person listens closely to the lyrics some people may not want this song on their iPods. Summer hit "Blurred Lines" is one of the radio's most played songs currently. The song is placed at number one on America's top 40 charts for the week of September 14th. While it is popular, the lyrics paint a story of someone who wants the singer, but is a good girl. The message of the song is blurring lines of morality. Not only is the song soliciting sexual themes, but it goes as far as using derogatory names towards the said good girl. Also, the song has strong themes of guilting someone into sex, claiming that not many can refuse T.I.'s pimping. The song ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Meaning Of The Song 'This Will End' "This Will End" by The Oh Hellos, is a song that talks about not staying with a lover, that isn't giving you need, and the hurt that comes with it. The second verse of this song starts out by saying "But I can hope how this will end, with every line of comedy, that we could learn to love without demand, but undeserved honesty" (AZLyrics 2). This is the first hint of the meaning of the song. The song is talking about an abusive relationship. He is pleading that they would learn how to love each other, just for love, and to be honest with each other. The song goes on with the fourth verse, and says "I can see how this will end, in all it's bitter tragedy, I'll give you all I have to spend, and you'll give nothing back to me" (AZLyrics 4). The ... • 75. Love Songs Essay Every day on the radio, there is bound to be a love song playing somewhere. These types of songs can seem upbeat and happy, but that is just the music playing behind the lyrics. The music in these songs are written in a major key which make the song sound lively and cheerful. Even with the darkest meaning behind the lyrics, the music can give off different perspectives. Many people believe that love songs are about love but in reality some of those songs have a depressing story behind them. Many love songs are not love songs at all if one examines the lyrics. In fact the song "It will rain" by Bruno Mars is a clear example of a love song with a complete different meaning to it than love. The verse " if you ever leave me baby leave some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One last thing he says is "I can't feel my face when I'm with you, but I love it." This refers to the state of being wasted or high. He loves the emotions and feeling he gets when he is doing these drugs. Furthermore, another example of a song with a darker meaning would be "Little Talks" by Of Monsters and Men. This song is another example of many songs that don't quite refer to love. For instance this song without paying close attention to the lyrics is a conversation between two people that love each other. In reality it's an illusion a woman is having with a supposed man as stated in the verse, "I miss our little talks." As the song continues the woman gives of a hint when the song reads, "you're gone, gone, gone away... Just let me go, we'll meet again soon." This verse foreshadows that the woman is slowly getting lost in mental illness after the death of her partner. That's why her illusions are fulfilling that empty space that her partner left behind when he died. Many artists write songs that can be interpreted in many different ways, and the songs stated above are not an exception to this rule. Taking a closer look at the lyrics and analyzing them can show a better meaning of what the artist is trying to tell the listener. Many artists try to conceal a hidden message in their songs to hide their darkest secrets to prevent a bad reputation against them. With the different songs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. My Love Song It is incredible that you can make such a jazzy and fun song and put a dark and depressing twist on it by just controlling the lyrics. I love all kind of music and when I mean all kind, I really mean all kind. The reason for why I listen to a song can vary depending on the situation, mood, etc. For this particular song, I was introduced to this song by my friend showing me the song while we were just hanging out and she thought that I would love the song. And the thing is that I did love the song and decided to put the song on repeat for the rest of the week. At first, I enjoyed it for the beat and the overall tone of the song. One random day, it was completely silence, and all I was doing was riding the bus to go to school. In that moment, my brain was only focused on the lyrics, and noticed that this song lyrically does not match the tone that the musician created. The song was created by the band, "Foster the People", and the song was called "Pumped Up Kicks". To summarize the song, it is about a child named Robert that wants to cause violence towards his classmates and peers in a school setting. When I would listen to this song, it would usually be because I wanted to listen to something that would boost my mood, or when I'm with friends and need a nice background song to play. I wish I was able to play you the first 20 seconds of the song for you can come up with your own judgment about how the song makes you feel. For then when you listen to the lyrics yourself then ...
