Grease Play Analysis
Grease Play Evaluation Great Theater Company put on the play "Grease" from April first through
the seventh of 2016. The musical "Grease" was written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. The
director of the performance was David Symalla. Twenty–four individuals composed of the entire
cast. The whole cast was eighteen years or older. This gave the play a more mature feel. A live
orchestra preformed the music, which consisted of eight members. The orchestra brought the play to
life and made the show even more enjoyable. The entire cast was amazing at singing. It was clear
that there are a lot of talented people in the central Minnesota area. The performance ran smoothly
and no major mistakes stood out. The characters of Danny, Kenickie, and Rizzo ... Show more

The microphone could have been louder to hear him better. Even though Sandy was a main
character, she did not capture the attention of the audience like she should have. During the high
school prom scene, the choreography seemed a little boring. More complex dance routines could
have been added to liven up the multiple dance numbers during this scene. Costumes and slang used
matched the 1950s time period. The costumes looked authentic and really set the tone for the play.
Slang and language throughout the play mattered the time period perfectly. A staircase that lit up to
the beat of the music added a lot of interest to multiple dance numbers. Several different sets were
set up during the play, and it was obvious where the characters were. The props and setting
structures were constructed very well. A drag race scene did take place during the performance. The
concept of preforming it seemed difficult, but the special effects and choreography worked out well.
It felt like Danny and the rival gang leader were actually racing on stage. That was extremely
impressive. The show was very entertaining. The language and themes were more mature, so it
would not be advised for children to attend. Many of the jokes were for the

Blackrock Essay
Blackrock Major Essay Assignment
Blackrock by Nick Enright is a drama piece constructed to challenge dominant social ideology of
twentieth century Australian youth. The text presents a very critical attitude towards Australian
society in particular the notion of mateship is criticised and exposed in a negative light, as are the
justifications, and outcomes of youth independence, and the marginalisation of females. Blackrock,
being inspired/based on a the real–life rape and murder of schoolgirl Leigh Leigh (in Stockton, near
Newcastle, Australia on 3 November 1989), provides powerful, direct, criticism of dominant
Australian (male) youth culture, and highlights how seemingly harmless attitudes and ideologies can

In such a contrast the writer is criticising the submissiveness of the female population, and
conveying the concept of fighting for your rights and defending your beliefs as does Cherie.
Tiffany's boyfriend Ricko, who is the dominant male in the Blackrock youth group, clearly
objectifies Tiffany through the symbolic use of his surfing trophy, representative of Tiffany, through
his eyes she is just a trophy, just an object which he desired and thus conquered. Ricko's
objectification of her is reinforced through the dialogue, "Once, for him and Jason...I'm not doing
nothing like that ever again," to which Ricko replies ,"You'll do what you always do...Cause you are
what you are. What you'll always be. So shut up and put out." Ricko's mind set and personality are
evident through this cruel and contemptuous verbal abuse, which demonstrates his objectification of
her, in that he only tolerates her for her body to satisfy his sexual lust and that she is useless in every
other way to him. Tiffany's character was created by Enright to be a perfect example of female
marginalisation and disempowerment, as she really has no power within the Blackrock community
and even in her attempts to assume rapport she is rejected Her promiscuity is an attempt to gain
status in the Blackrock community yet she is abused and objectified by her boyfriend Ricko and
pushed even lower in social status(as a sex object), essentially the

Tavi Gevinson's Ted Talk
What tools does Tavi use to help convey the message of her talk? Are these tools effective? From
start to finish Tavi Gevinson used a verity tools when giving her Ted Talk, A Teen Just Trying To
Figure It Out, which were a creative way in getting her thoughts and ideas across to the viewers.
One tool Tavi started using as soon as she stepped on stage was her voice. Tavi's voice is calm and
has much expression and depth which pulls the viewer in especially when she is talking about
something she is passionate about like feminism around women and teens. Her voice and how she
talks helps portray her confidence and passion she has on this topic. As well as informing everyone

Tavi uses many examples of television shows throughout her Ted Talk. Her discussion on these
television shows (like Girls, Freaks and Geeks, Mad Men, and so many more) help Tavi clearly get
her point across that these are the shows that have amazing female representation, female characters
that are three dimensional with flaws and everything. These examples help create a stronger
argument and clearly fight her thesis. Throughout Tavi's Ted Talk she has comedic moments which
help grasp the views attention, although the moments are comedic they still are as serious as her
other not so comedic moments. At the end of Gevinson's Ted Talk she tell the audience that
everyone should be Stevie Nicks. She does not say this just because she thinks Stevie Nicks is super
cool, she says this because of the way she holds herself. Stevie Nicks is empowering and a strong
female personality on and off stage and this is the whole point of Tavi's talk to let girls know it is
okay to be a complete rounded character with as many sides as you

Ready Pull Out Your Rosary Analysis
"Ready, Set, Pull Out Your Rosary!" by Morgan Berendes is a story of a girl's first experience on a
plane ride. She starts the story with her emotions and feelings before she boards the plane. Next she
talks about the plane ride itself and gives descriptive information about the trip. Finally, she explains
the landing and getting off the plane. Morgan is very nervous and goes through various emotions
through the whole trip. Something along the way helps ease her fear and makes her feel comfort; she
remembers this little detail for the rest of her life. Everyone has different experiences with plane

Analysis Of Perks Of Being A Wallflower
'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' follows shy and kind–natured Charlie Kelmeckis (Logan Lerman–
Percy Jackson, The Butterfly Effect) as he enters high school alone, after the recent loss of his
middle school best friend to suicide. Charlie gets befriended by seniors Sam (Emma Watson– Harry
Potter–Beauty and the Beast) and Patrick (Ezra Miller– Justice League, Fantastic Beasts and Where
to Find Them) and finally feels accepted.
I absolutely adored Stephen Chbosky's (Beauty and the Beast, Allegiant) 'The Perks of Being a
Wallflower' for its captivating and emotionally driven storyline that will intensely connect with all.
The movie is filled with teen angst and struggles we can all relate to and discusses topics our society
shuns from. This is captivating to an audience and makes them think about mental health and trauma
in a way they haven't before.
'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' fits into the romance and drama genres, but the movie truly shines
in its role as a coming of age film. 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' tackles the hardships and pain
that growing up can sometimes make you feel, and depicts high school in the most realistic way I
have seen for a while. Other coming of age films like 'Clueless' and 'Mean Girls' portray high school
in a sort of innocence, with issues going on in the protagonist's lives only occurring during their
times at school. This film doesn't sugar coat things. It shows Charlie's struggles from all different
angles of growing up and

Analysis Of The Film Powder
Powder is an albino teenage boy who was very intelligent and shunned after the death of his last
relative. After the death, people began to judge powder, not even knowing what he looked like or the
kind of person he was. His special abilities make him an outcast. In the readings, it says, "The
stranger in town becomes shrouded with suspension. Every action is scrutinized. Every inaction is a
sign of guilt." The writer's argument is, don't judge a book by its cover.
The Screen writer and director of the film is Victor Salva. He is a writer and director of over twenty
short and long films before he graduated from high school. According to IMDb, the movie Powder
was his first big–studio picture. It received a lot of critical acclaims and was top–ten of the year
several times. Article Bio states, "Professionally his career started from the year 1986 and within
today's context of time he is able to obtain successful position within the industry. After his
biological father left the family he was brought up by stepfather who often whose to get drunk and
disturb the family mostly by physical abuse."
After the death of one of his grandparents, he is discovered and sent to state home where he has
trouble fitting in. His unusual appearance and abilities caused the people in the town to mock and
fear him. Sheriff Barnum's wife, Emma is sick and in a coma and sheriff is unsure of what he should
to help her. Jessie asks Powder to pay Emma a visit to see if he could help. He touches Emma and
shares her thoughts with sheriff. It becomes clear to Powder that he will fit in with the others, so he
runs away and goes back home. Had they not judged him, they would be able to see the good and
potential in him. The writer/director wants the audience to think that our judgements and criticism
shields us from seeing the good and beauty in someone or something. His point is that we only

Pleasantville Analysis of Film Techniques against the...
How are we made aware of the filmmaker's attitude towards change? Refer to three specific
episodes from the film. (excl. concl. stages)In Pleasantville, the filmmaker, Gary Ross, conveys his
attitude towards change through the characters of David and Jennifer who are transported into the
1950s sitcom "Pleasantville". He doesn't necessarily demonstrate change to bear a positive result;
rather, he addresses that change is essential to the development of society and self and that it is
important to understand and accept change. Ross contrasts the ignorance and mindlessness of the
unchanged people of Pleasantville with the hunger for knowledge that the changed (or coloured)

It was conventionally used in Noir films to represent the dark overtones of the society. It is used as a
motif in Pleasantville for the majority of the beginning of Jennifer and David's adventure (until
things start to change, that is). This is especially significant with all the subtle implications and
allusions to a Nazi–style dictatorship. For example, the burning of books is reminiscent of that in
1936 when the German government burnt all books which would oppose its rule, in fear that the
society it governed would think of rebelling.
Big Bob is the obvious ruler, as he is almost always seen with a low shot, making him look big and
powerful to the audience. Bob's situation is similar, burning books to stop changes occurring. Books
are seen as works of art which are derived from the imagination of thinking people. Bob's
censorship practices extend to the prohibition of Mr Johnson from using colours to paint (that is,
from using the full extent of his imagination) in his Code of Conduct. In this way, he is much like
the German government in the 30s. However, he wants to continue his rule without any violent
opposition; only 'pleasantness'. There is irony however, as there is vandalism and disruption when
the Milk Bar is broken into and sabotaged because of his encouragement, which is the exact
opposite of 'pleasant'. The fact that people submitted to this way of

Vice Guide To Liberia Rhetorical Analysis
In the video Vice Guide to Liberia, Shane Smith uses different rhetorical devices to display

the wild side of the country, surrounded by filth, drugs, and teenage prostitution (Vice Guide to

Persuasive Essay On Stay In Control

Don't Let Smoking Control Your Life In today's growing society, smoking is still a major problem
among many humans. A lot of teens and young adults are revealed to the effects of smoking through
the exposure of secondhand smoke. The presence of secondhand smoke can be encountered through
family members, friends, and even people in the surrounding area. Since smoking is so accessible,
anyone is able to obtain a cigarette. The result of smoking, however, presents undesirable outcomes.
As an example, cancer, lung disease, a change in lifestyle and personality, or impacted decisions.
Similarly, the advertisement campaign "Stay In Control" by The Real Cost introduces us to Amanda
Green – a teenage girl who finally has the independence to define who she is. However, before she
can, Amanda gives up part of her freedom to smoking. The losses of freedom to smoking includes
everything from her life, her money, her boundaries, etc. Through the use of vivid imagery,
voiceover, and sad emotions, the ad "Stay In Control" effectively conveys a message about the
harmful effects of smoking to its intended audience: teens and young adults. During the youth ages
12–17, the use of tobacco is consistently established and started. Adolescents who are open to
cigarettes attempt to try it and many who try a cigarette move to addictive, regular use. Likewise,
the powerful imagery presented in this ad gives the audience a sense of relation

The way that they transitioned to different characters looked completely natural, every time they
would put on a new mask and costume they were becoming that character which really set the
mood, a prime example of this was when the doctor (Dottore) who is a smart yet confused old man
noticed that the students in the other room was looking at him, and in turn he began to talk to them
and describing how they appear to be in a fishbowl.
Even though Commedia dell'Arte is a rather old style of theatre Clint and Ben were able to
modernise it by adding multiple elements which can be considered normal within teenage life.
Things like using words like "lol", "yolo" and talking about general things like Justin Bieber and
Miley Cyrus. Which made the performance relatable for the audience which inturn was hilarious.
Like with all dramatic performances most pf the time there is a backdrop of some sort. What Ben
and Clint used was a basic yet classic backdrop that featured portraits of the two masters. Which
gave the set a classy feel to it. In comparison the props that was used was also of the basic
functionality which in this style of theatre worked quite well due to the other elements being so
refined a key example of this was when they used a basic wig for the lovers scene, even though the
wig fell off a couple of times Ben and Clint continued to make the scene believable through voice
and movement.

Movie Analysis : ' The Notebook '
When the older group of women sit down to watch this film, they are more likely to be watching in
envy, and look at the film as a wish that may never come true. In this instance, they could also live
vicariously through the events and characters in The Notebook. Also, women who are married or in
long–lasting relationships are probably more likely to bring their significant other to the film.
Regardless of age, the love and relationship is an attractive attribute to the film, and the outcome of
the film is something any women or couple aspire for. From this gathered information, the audience
for the notebook would be young single women looking for love, or women in their thirties and
forties who have relationships in which they would compare the film to. It is also geared toward
couples in love.
In the Notebook, there are instances where quirks and laughable moments are used to make the
scenes seem more realistic. One moment is when Noah's best friend bluntly asks Noah and Allie if
they are in live after an awkward trip to the movie theatre. This is something that so many people
can relate to, and recollect on who of their friends would do that to them in a situation as such.
Another example of this is during an argument between the couple. Allie must decide if she will
leave Noah for another man, and she expresses her doubts from their own personal relationship.
Noah reacts by yelling bluntly "Well that 's what we do, we fight... You tell me when I am being an

The Video Is A Music Video
Me!Me!Me! is a music video and animated short that was created for the Japan Animator Expo in
2014, but was released in the US in 2015 through Vimeo with English subtitles. The song in the
video was made by the electronic music artist Teddyloid feat. Daoko, a Japanese singer. The
audience of this video would be all fans of anime and electronic music, i.e. presumably young
people who proactively use electronic devices. The video is set in three main sequences, each
revolving around the main character, a young teenage boy. It follows his dreamy haze of his break–
up, and his interactions with idealized, semi–human females. My interpretation of this video was
that this young man lost all meaningful relationships in his life because of his unrealistic
expectations of women due to pornography and the representation of women in popular culture, and
how his addiction to these forms of media only made it worse. The purpose of this video is to
highlight the issues with unnecessary sexualization of women, escapism and addiction, as well as
heartbreak and regret. This author's intent was to prove director Hibiki Yoshizaki was an amazing
storyteller and animator, and for the video to gain attention and views, through the use of hyper–
sexualized imagery. This is shown in the video by the depiction of women inside his mind as two
conflicting personalities, his loving girlfriend, and nightmarish girls who, as the video description
states, "attack and ravish" him, and the environment they

Let The Right One Is A Stage Adaptation By Jack Thorne
On October 1, 2016, I attended a production of Let the Right One In at The University of Oklahoma
in the Weiztenhoffer Theater. Let the Right One in is a "stage adaptation by Jack Thorne based on
the Swedish novel Marla Rubin Productions Ltd." and it was directed by Tom Huston Orr as a fall
main stage production for the university (University Theatre Program). Let the Right One In was
captivating and occupied the space with great power. Immediately once the show began, I noticed
the forwarding aspect of the overlapping scenes to help bring momentum to the production. The
specific reference I am making is to the introduction of the character Oskar, who was played by Sam
Pinson, coupled with Hakan's first murder. Hakan was played by Weston Vrooman and his first
victim in the production is Torkel who was portrayed by Austin Reid. The overlapping of their two
scenes set up a fast pace that added to some of the suspense the show itself calls for in its mood. I
really enjoyed this directing choice to have the bar placed for high energy and pace right as the show
began. Another aspect that I thought worked well for this production was the casting choice of Sam
Pinson for Oskar. The reason I mention this is because Sam is not what I would expect in the casting
of a young teenage boy. He is tall and not the typical type for that role. I had been skeptical of this
decision because of how Sam is not visibly close to a child in the least, but Sam portrayed the role in
a way that was

Mary Anne's Transformation
When being told a war story, one automatically assumes all that they are hearing is factual, and that
all the trauma, devastation, and victory really happened. However, in the fictional The Things They
Carried, by Tim O'Brien, he turns the idea on its head: a story does not necessarily have to be honest
if the emotions behind the story are. O'Brien uses techniques such as hyperbolic characters and
verisimilitude to show his audience that while the verbatim anecdotes are not true, the sentiment
behind them is true. Through the characters of Mary Anne and Norman Bowker, O'Brien
successfully uses the audience's trust against them to create varying images of unbelievability and
believability, which ultimately helps achieve the goal of making his ... Show more content on

Even though Bowker made it out of the war alive, he was not himself when he returned home. He
could not bring himself to talk to anyone about his experiences, though it "[was] a good time to talk"
(134). As Bowker thought of all the people he could talk to about his war stories and how he had
almost been given the Silver Star, he can only conjure the conversations in his imagination. When
finally given the chance to get his emotions off his chest at the A&W, Bowker could only muster out
"Nothing" when the intercom questioned if he had anything to say (146). The reluctance to share
true war memories is a quality that veterans who have observed severe trauma can relate to. Similar
how to Bowker continued around the lake in circles and circles, veterans cannot break out of the
circle that is their experience of war. The only people they feel safe talking to are members of their
old platoon, and even if they want to be able to express themselves and their emotions, there is a
seemingly invisible barricade that prevents them from sharing. In Bowker's case, the pent up
emotion lead to "[hanging] himself in the locker room of a YMCA" (149). Though this story was
invented by O'Brien, the thousands of soldiers who annually commit suicide is not a work of fiction.

Examples Of Archetypes In Manchester By The Sea
Manchester by the Sea directed and written by Kenneth Lonergan is a literal film full with sorrow

The Visual Adisement Of An Advert Analysis Of Tux Soap
The visual text about the Tux Soap is an advertisement created to convince women that using Tux
Soap for their body will improve their complexion and make them appear more visually appealing.
It is targeted at women, aged between thirteen to fifty because society seems to demand that it is
essential for women to look extraordinarily beautiful and have flawless skin. The advertisement
appeals to the targeted audience as the beautiful woman on the advertisement with flawless skin
entices young and older women to want to try Tux soap.
Visual techniques evident in advertisement include the title, which conveys the message that "Most
men ask "Is she pretty? Not "Is she clever?". The title misleads women by persuading them that men
only look at aspects of beauty but not intelligence or kindness. However, it is extremely effective as
women will be attracted to the advertisement in how they can allow their beauty to be seen and
would want to read more into it. Furthermore, the dull background colours such as the light blue and
grey shades make the woman's flawless skin and her fair complexion appear more prominent and
appealing to the eye, satisfying the audience. Moreover, the advertisement includes a larger size for
the words, "Most men ask "Is she pretty?" and a smaller size is utilised for "not "Is she clever?" this
differentiation convinces the audience that being prettier is more important than being clever. It
makes us sense that beauty is more powerful than intelligence.

after his only child was killed in a horrific car accident. The young burglars think that robbing a
blind, retired old man is going to be a walk in the park. As soon as they get into the house they learn
that it will be anything but easy. Having a unique storyline keeps the viewer from guessing what is

Dog Sees God Play Analysis
Ohlone College Theatre and Dance Department "knocked it out of the park "with its provocative
production of Dog Sees Go: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead. The play by Bert V. Royal, which
debuted at the New York Fringe Festival in 2004, was performed in the fall of 2012. Dog Sees God
is a dramatization of Charles Schulz's "Peanuts" cartoon. These lovable characters are all grown up
and dealing with the insane world of high school. The main attraction, CB (Charlie Brown), is
questioning the existence of an afterlife after his dog dies (this was a big surprise). His friends are
too involved in their own drama and can't really help him, but a chance meeting with Beethoven
(Schroeder), the target of this group's bullying, offers CB solace and thus begins a friendship that
will push teen angst to the very limits. The universal themes presented – suicide, drug use, child
sexual abuse, eating disorders, teen violence, struggles with identity, rebellion, sexual relations
couldn't be more current, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this scene, Matt (Pigpen) approaches Beethoven in the choir room about staying away from CB.
When Beethoven, an outcast to begin with, stands up for himself, Matt, being the school bully,
smashes his fingers on the piano. When I first read and later watched this scene, I was shocked, and
observed the same reaction ripple through the audience. This was exactly what the director wanted.
Navarre's intent was to make the audience feel deeply, with the hopes of making an impact that
would provide reflection and questions about who we are as people and how we live. In a post–show
discussion, one person commented, "Though I believe homosexuality is wrong, bullying is also
wrong. This is food for serious reflection." And if we can get just one person to think like that, then
the director's intention and the theme of the play have

How Does Romulus My Father Relate To Belonging
It is in human nature to strive towards a sense of Belonging, a process that incites the creation, or
deterioration of a sense of personal and cultural identification. The memoir, Romulus, My Father, by
Raimond Gaita; John Guare's play, Six Degrees of Separation; and Tim Winton's short story, Big
World, from the collection, The Turning, explore the concept that Belonging is the driving force for
the human condition. Each composer represents their varied perceptions of belonging in their texts,
conveying that Belonging as a fundamental need we strive for in our search to create a concrete
identity.
The memoir, Romulus, My Father, portrays the ways in which immigrants in 1950's rural Victoria
struggled to be accepted in a foreign society, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Guare uses the post–modern technique of fragmentation to purposely distance the audience from the
action. This technique causes the audience to immediately see the fear of rejection and isolation by
society felt by the characters, provoking the audience to reflect the characters determination to be
accepted.
Guares darker twist on the need to belong is represented through the central motif of the play, the
Kandinsky, the two–sided painting, a metaphor for the different dimensions of a person. Guare
seems to be suggesting that to belong in our modern society, we must follow the rules dictated by
society and hide our true desires. This is enhanced by the characterization of Ouisa and Flan who
present themselves as courteous, but expose the audience to their true intentions of striving to
connect to a higher social class: "Having a rich friend is like drowning, and your friend makes life
boats." The character Paul is a symbol of this determination and desperation, creating the persona of
Sidney Poitier's son for the acknowledgement and acceptance he receives from it. He uses deception
of his true identity to minimize social marginalization and fulfill his emotional need to connect. Like
Romulus, Paul becomes a representation of the impact of rejection, forging multiple personalities in
an attempt to connect to what he believes he deserves. This is Guare's central irony; Paul has
attempted to belong by forming these personas but they ultimately cause him

Summary Of The Absolutely True Diary Of A Part Time Indian
The Spirit of a "True Diary"g
Many people know Sherman Alexie as an award–winning poet, author, and filmmaker. It should be
no surprise that his first venture into the young adult genre brought forth a masterpiece, The
Absolutely True Diary of a Part time Indian. Although intended for a younger audience, anybody
would enjoy this informative and humorous novel that covers difficult topics including poverty,
racism and struggling with identity while growing up. The novel is written as a first–person
narrative from the perspective a teenager living on the Spokane Indian Reservation, inspired by
events from Alexie's own life. Being semi–autobiographical gives the story an authenticity that can
move any audience. The emotionally charged coming–of–age story is sure to make you laugh and
cry.
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part–Time Indian is the account of Arnold Spirit Jr. or "Junior" as
he's called, in his first year of high school. Growing up on a reservation he faces medical concerns,
poverty, hounding from bullies and the difficulties of a community suffering from alcoholism. He is
encouraged by a reservation teacher to escape the low expectations of people around him and makes
the decision to switch to an all–white high school in the nearby off–reservation town Reardan,
Washington. This sparks the main controversy of the novel as Junior struggles to navigate the
clashing worlds of the reservation and white public school. While attempting to find friends among

Movie My Favorite Movie
I love watching movies. Their ability to transport you to another world for two hours and make you
care about people that aren't real is the most unrecognized form of magic. I'm not a critic, so any
movie will do, as long as I'm interested enough to watch it. Many movies stick in my mind, whether
it's a hilarious joke, an awesome fight scene, or simply a unique plot. There is one movie, however,
which stands out among them all. A film I had never heard of before viewing called Prisoners. From
start to finish, I was invested in the characters and their goals. I felt their fear and desperation. I was
in the movie, not sitting on my living room couch. The movie Prisoners was suspenseful, chilling,
and memorable, so there is no doubt in my mind that it is my favorite movie, and I will likely
remember it for the rest of my life. The backbone of any good movie is the story. The story is the
rope that the movie uses to drag you in, to make you feel for the characters, to make you more than
a simple movie viewer. Prisoners was about Keller Dover, an average man with a teenage son and a
young daughter. They have friends down the street, another family just like them. Life isn't perfect,
but it's far from anything worth complaining about. Then. the unthinkable happens. The young girl
goes missing. From that moment on, both the police and Keller search for her, but they use methods
that are drastically different from each other. This poses a question to the audience: How far would
you go for the people you love? The way the movie portrayed the desperation of Mr. Dover and the
detective assigned to the case was perfect. As time went on, doubt and fear began to take over the
minds of everyone involved. As they mystery was slowly unraveled, many twists and turns
prevented the solution from being obvious. I was constantly thinking about what might have
happened, and I was still nowhere near to close. The emotions felt by everyone who feared for this
innocent girl and wondered where she was exploded on the TV screen. It was suspenseful, heart–
wrenching, and everything you could want from a movie. Truly, an excellent story propelled
Prisoners into my mind and my heart, more than earning my favor. Besides a great storyline,

Analysis Of The Book ' The Twilight Series '
A young psychic teen hiding from the CIA embarks on a quest to find a hidden treasure that is
linked to an old murder, but corrupt police, the CIA, greedy relatives, a crazy homeless man, and the
girl he falls smitten with hinder his efforts.
STORY COMMENTS
CODE NAME TRACKER: INDIGO is a highly creative and imaginative novel that is targeted for
the young adult audience. Like the TWILIGHT series one can easily envision the success of such a
series of books and a possible film franchise.
The novel has a strong hook with the idea of the protagonist having psychic skills. The script
combines a supernatural tale with drama and dark comedy. The storyline offers intrigue, action,
forbidden love, betrayal, corruption, and the supernatural. The story also offers solid twists and
turns.
The main storyline centers on the psychic teen searching for missing treasure. It's a smart story
choice, as everyone loves the idea of finding buried treasure. This gives the novel a strong,
actionable goal with merit, and it keeps the story goal–focused.
The subplot of the budding teen romance supports the main storyline and is fluidly integrated.
One of the major strength of this novel is the compelling ensemble cast. Each character feels
original and refreshing. They are complex and rich in personality. There's no doubt that these
characters would attract talent if produced into a film.
The novel clearly identifies Ryan Gordon as the mystifying, insecure hero. Ryan is easy to like and

seen in many different websites on the same type of information. I chose to compare the websites

IMDB information page for the new Netflix series A Series of Unfortunate Events and the second

The primary audience of the IMDB website is professional critics. These critics have professional

Uaa's Stalking The Bogeyman
UAA's production of Stalking the Bogeyman created an uneasy atmosphere that placed the audience
in the mind of the main character for eighty minutes. The small cast made spectacular use of the
space around the audience, lighting, costume and set designs, as well as unique vocal choices that
gave definition and life to their characters. I would also like to commend the cast for braving what
was an emotionally difficult production.
The opening scenes of Stalking the Bogeyman gave the audience a great opportunity to learn a little
bit about each of the characters. While the parents were a little more "bland" because they weren't
the story's focus, David and the Bogeyman both have very well defined characteristics. I was taken
aback by the actor's ability to transform his whole body, voice included, into a seven year old boy's.
The enthusiastic pitch in his voice and the rising and falling in energy it carried was unique to a
seven year old, and was portrayed very well. David's transformation throughout the rest of the

taking David downstairs showed the audience a terrifying side of the Bogeyman, he was loud,
intimidating, mean, and insulting. The downward spiral brought the audience and David into the

The Notebook Film Elements
Lauren Taibi
First Paper Assignment
The Notebook
The movie The Notebook, directed by Nick Cassavetes and released on June 5th 2004, is a
captivating love story, which takes place in the 1940's. Through filmatic elements such as
Cassavetes choices of cinematography, editing, narrative, mise en scene, sound and music, he
creates an extremely believable story of two teenagers in the 1940's who fell in love over the time
span of one summer. In order to create a 1940's vibe, Cassavetes wisely uses a specific choice of
costumes, makeup and scenery to portray exactly the time period he wanted to. The main character
Allie, played by Rachel McAdams, is a free–spirited 17 year old who in the beginning of the movie

Music also plays a key role in reminding the audience that this movie took place in the past.
The sound used in this movie serves a large purpose. There are many scenes when Cassavetes
allows everything else to be silent and the object of focus to be the loudest in order for the audience
to truly concentrate on its meaning. Going back to the scene when Allie and Noah dance in the street
together, Cassavetes purposely makes them dance without actual music initially and has Noah hum
the tune he wishes to slow dance to, while all else is silent. The reasoning for this is to further
contribute towards Cassavetes attempts to get the audience to fall in love with the two teenager's
relationship. Dancing without music in the middle of the street shows that the couple can have a
great time with nothing else but their love and it also portrays their free spirit and fun personalities.
Another time when sound serves a specific purpose is when Noah takes Allie to an abandoned house
that he promises he will fix up when he gets older so they can live together in it. A dusty piano in the
corner intrigues Allie and she begins to play one of her favorite slow tunes. All else is completely
silent in the room as Cassavetes forces the audience to focus on the tune she is playing, for it serves
a purpose later on in the movie. When the scenes switch back and forth between the story of Noah
and Allie, and an old man narrating this story to an old woman

Early on, within the opening scene, the headmaster addresses the students about the importance of

ingrained into their lives, the group of boys is reluctant to explore new grounds. Charlie stands
obediently, listening to the teachers, Neil continues his monotonous life, and Knox admires Chris
Noel from afar. Due to current societal norms, Charlie is forbidden from even considering to
disobey a teacher, Neil is tied to his life by a stern father, and Knox cannot make his move on Chris
while she has a boyfriend. However, after meeting, Mr. Keating the boys soon learn to move on
from societal constraints that bound them to their misery. He actively encourages the boys to
individualize themselves, they shouldn't adhere to tradition if it makes them miserable. Because of
his advice, the boys choose to pursue their dreams, Charlie begins to rebel by writing an article that
asks why girls can't go to Welton, which defies the tradition of the school. Neil pursues acting and

Why Are Print And E Media Manipulate Images Of Their...
For my critical investigation I will be investigating how and why both print and e–media manipulate
images to alter the look of their subjects and how this can impact on society. I will address the issues
surrounding Photoshop manipulation and look at both the positives and negatives with regards to
how this is used in the media.
Thomas and John Knoll are the creators of what one might say to be a controversial and innovative
piece of software named 'Adobe Photoshop'. Adobe Photoshop has been the main piece of software
since it's initial release in 1990 to give a user the power to apply sharper and/or a surreal look to an
image that they have photographed. Ever since the initial release of the first ever version of Adobe
Photoshop, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, young teenage girls generally, will view media on a regular basis, more specifically,
fashion and beauty, as they are the target audience for these given topics. With this being said,
young teenage girls become more naive with regards to celebrities in the fashion and beauty
industry, and typically idolize. Furthermore, they personally identify themselves with said
celebrities, and admire them.
Nowadays, more often than not, images will be altered with Photoshop, making celebrities and
models look thinner, taller, and completely unblemished with perfect white teeth and bodily curves.
Seemingly 'perfect'. Thus meaning that society are viewing in some form or another, a fabricated
image, yet not knowing this.
Magazine publishers such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Glamour, have come to the point where not
using Photoshop becomes alien to them. To these organisations, editing is basically a mandatory
process where the images they use simply go through the manipulation process to make women look
'perfect', even if they are already naturally beautiful. What these organisations are trying to say is, no
woman is perfect and will always need a touch of alteration with online software. This is done
simply because they want their magazine to look as professional as possible. By doing this, it
increases the percentage of units sold of their magazine, therefore, earning themselves more money.
In many people's perspective, it

The Rhetorical Analysis Of 'Best In Class'
For almost two centuries, the system of public education has honored the best and the brightest high
school graduates with the honorable titles of valedictorian and salutatorian.Though these titles have
been a valued part of graduation for what seem like the entire history of American public schooling,
they are under heavy scrutiny as impassioned and angry parents, as well as their hardworking
students, attack the idea of only recognizing one or two of the class's most talented seniors. In "Best
in Class", reporter Margaret Talbot challenges the traditional system of choosing a single
valedictorian by by exposing the emotional opposition to the system's change or preservation; her
use of emotional dialogue as well as far less emotional, far more objective writing style allows
Talbot to emphasize specific ideas and opinions with syntax to avoid confrontation, while
simultaneously establishing that it is time for the traditional system of valedictory to change. One
key rhetorical pattern that allows Talbot extensive control over how the audience views her topic is
diverse syntax. Via mostly cumulative sentences, Talbot is able to clearly emphasize a specific idea
about the subject while remaining neutral. For example, she explains that "Saratosa is a competitive
school district–– while visiting the area, I saw a car with a bumper sticker that read, 'My Child Was
Student of The Month at Tuttle Elementary'–– but most of the high schools have taken Kennedy's
lead"(224).

Audience Analysis
SISTAR is made up of four women Hyolyn, Bora, Soyou, and Dasom. They made their debut in
South Korea with the hit song "Push Push" and have had many other popular songs. One of their
most recent singles "Touch My Body," is a feel good summer song that targets a couple of different
audiences. SISTAR's song goes after females from the ages of 12 to 25 by using the trendiest
fashion, their appearances, and how they carry themselves. The song also targets a completely
different audience, men. Heterosexual males ages 14 to 30 enjoy this song for a set of completely
different reasons; such as how much skin is shown with the clothing that is being worn, suggestive
lyrics in the form of sexual innuendos, and the provocative dance moves that are used throughout
the entire video. SISTAR's success with these audiences comes from using their combination of
fashion sense and sex appeal to keep them interested.
It's not just people in South Korea that are affected, but fans overseas as well. K–Pop is popular

The Story About The Heroine Vinette

must save her rebellious teenage daughter from her soon–to–be evil stepmother.
STORY COMMENTS
SUPERSOMETHING is a super, fun comedy that entertains and delivers a very likable heroine that
the audience finds endearing. It's a superhero tale that's highly creative and the imagination shines.
The highlight of this tale is the heroine Vinette. She's a quirky and insecure mother, who once
dreamed of becoming a cop. She gets a second chance when she's magically transformed into a
superhero. She's an easy character to like. She's far from perfect, but that's why the audience adores

It's a smart and fun idea that it's inside the tampon machine, although it's not clear how it got there.
The idea of the statue comes early and sets up nice anticipation.
However, the true inciting event is when Vinette discovers that she now has superpowers. This
comes a bit late. Consider eliminating the dream. While there are some fun visuals in the dream,
such as the string of tampons, the dream slows the pace down and isn't essential to the storytelling.
Currently, the reveal that Vinette has changed comes around page 24, but consider trying to move
this up to around page 15. Make sure to highlight her denial and have fun with her discovering her
new powers.
The first act also sets up the idea of drugs being distributed at the school. So, when Vinette discovers
she has powers and decides she wants to fight crime, given her desire to be a cop, make sure she
verbalizes that she wants to find out who is dealing drugs at the school. This makes her goal clearer
and more tangible. She can decide to practice her new skills at crime fighting, but this is where the
structure is the weakest. There's a series of scenes in which she talks to her friends and then goes on
several crime–stopping adventures.
Unfortunately, this makes the structure weaker and a bit more fragmented. Also, the idea of
attempted rape doesn't fit with the tone. Consider focusing more on her investigation of who might
be distributing the drugs. Peel away her powers.

celebrity that appears on their screen. Some people are even drawn in by the corny catch phrases and
over dramatic acting. No matter the case, companies tend to spend billions of dollars in advertising,
pursuing customers to buy their "must–have" products, and spending whatever money necessary to
get their messages across to those watching. Throughout the years, marketing executives have
realized that they must refine their commercials and target buyers based on gender. Advertisements
on television have exposed images which are stereotypical representations and somehow have been
constructing cultural ideas about gender along the way. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The viewer does not know where these women are running towards but soon more and more women
appear on the screen; some running in the jungle, some swimming through the ocean, and others
climbing a mountain. One might address that through all this activity, these perfectly thin women
are still wearing basically nothing on their body and seem to be competing to get somewhere for
they are pushing and shoving one another. Then out of no where, there is one average looking,
twenty something, man just standing in the middle of the beach, with a look of pure joy, while
millions of women are clawing their way to him. This man is simply putting on Axe deodorant and
the words "Spray More, Get More. The Axe Effect" comes up on the screen right before the
commercial ends. The ad portrays how the use of this deodorant will make any man irresistible to
every woman and to many boys watching the commercial, they probably wouldn 't complain if this
situation happened to them. Dove however took a different approach in selling their Dove Clinical
Protection Deodorant. The commercial opens up with the words "what happens when beauty meets
strength" as the song "Pretty Baby" by Minnutes happily plays in the background. Cue different
videos of women applying the deodorant as they confidently get ready for their day. Phrases such as
"will take herself on a date today" and "will run with the guys today" begin to appear on the screen.
The ad continues to follow

Analysis Of Letters To My Child's Staff Person By Michael...
Category, classification, type, and style are all words that could be used to define the term genre.
Most people automatically relate genre to specific forms of entertainment like music or television,

asking a colleague or friend, many sources are structuring their articles and/or blogs in a more

If these inexperienced young–adults were exposed to Brandwein's letter in advance they would have
more of an opportunity to understand a parent's perspective on sending their child to camp. The
experienced counselor could also learn from the letter because they could think back on the time
they spent with their campers and have the ability to gage their behavior with a different viewpoint.
That counselor would then possibly understand why a camper was acting a specific way. While
letters are personalized and are used to depict a specific emotion, there are many alternate forms of
writing that are also extremely informative. WikiHow is an online database comprised of step–by–

The musical "Grease" was written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. The director of the performance was David Symalla. Twenty–four individuals composed of the entire cast. The whole cast was eighteen years or older. This gave the play a more mature feel. A live orchestra preformed the music, which consisted of eight members. The orchestra brought the play to life and made the show even more enjoyable. The entire cast was amazing at singing. Even though Sandy was a main character, she did not capture the attention of the audience like she should have. During the high school prom scene, the choreography seemed a little boring. More complex dance routines could have been added to liven up the multiple dance numbers during this scene. Costumes and slang used matched the 1950s time period. The costumes looked authentic and really set the tone for the play. Slang and language throughout the play mattered the time period perfectly. A staircase that lit up to the beat of the music added a lot of interest to multiple dance numbers. Several different sets were set up during the play, and it was obvious where the characters were. The props and setting structures were constructed very well. A drag race scene did take place during the performance. The concept of preforming it seemed difficult, but the special effects and choreography worked out well. It felt like Danny and the rival gang leader were actually racing on stage. That was extremely impressive. The show was very entertaining. The language and themes were more mature, so it would not be advised for children to attend. Many of the jokes were for the ... • 5. Blackrock Essay Blackrock Major Essay Assignment Blackrock by Nick Enright is a drama piece constructed to challenge dominant social ideology of twentieth century Australian youth. The text presents a very critical attitude towards Australian society in particular the notion of mateship is criticised and exposed in a negative light, as are the justifications, and outcomes of youth independence, and the marginalisation of females. Blackrock, being inspired/based on a the real–life rape and murder of schoolgirl Leigh Leigh (in Stockton, near Newcastle, Australia on 3 November 1989), provides powerful, direct, criticism of dominant Australian (male) youth culture, and highlights how seemingly harmless attitudes and ideologies can lead to the most severe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In such a contrast the writer is criticising the submissiveness of the female population, and conveying the concept of fighting for your rights and defending your beliefs as does Cherie. Tiffany's boyfriend Ricko, who is the dominant male in the Blackrock youth group, clearly objectifies Tiffany through the symbolic use of his surfing trophy, representative of Tiffany, through his eyes she is just a trophy, just an object which he desired and thus conquered. Ricko's objectification of her is reinforced through the dialogue, "Once, for him and Jason...I'm not doing nothing like that ever again," to which Ricko replies ,"You'll do what you always do...Cause you are what you are. What you'll always be. So shut up and put out." Ricko's mind set and personality are evident through this cruel and contemptuous verbal abuse, which demonstrates his objectification of her, in that he only tolerates her for her body to satisfy his sexual lust and that she is useless in every other way to him. Tiffany's character was created by Enright to be a perfect example of female marginalisation and disempowerment, as she really has no power within the Blackrock community and even in her attempts to assume rapport she is rejected Her promiscuity is an attempt to gain status in the Blackrock community yet she is abused and objectified by her boyfriend Ricko and pushed even lower in social status(as a sex object), essentially the ... From start to finish Tavi Gevinson used a verity tools when giving her Ted Talk, A Teen Just Trying To Figure It Out, which were a creative way in getting her thoughts and ideas across to the viewers. One tool Tavi started using as soon as she stepped on stage was her voice. Tavi's voice is calm and has much expression and depth which pulls the viewer in especially when she is talking about something she is passionate about like feminism around women and teens. Her voice and how she talks helps portray her confidence and passion she has on this topic. As well as informing everyone with new information and knowledge that they may not have gotten otherwise. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tavi uses many examples of television shows throughout her Ted Talk. Her discussion on these television shows (like Girls, Freaks and Geeks, Mad Men, and so many more) help Tavi clearly get her point across that these are the shows that have amazing female representation, female characters that are three dimensional with flaws and everything. These examples help create a stronger argument and clearly fight her thesis. Throughout Tavi's Ted Talk she has comedic moments which help grasp the views attention, although the moments are comedic they still are as serious as her other not so comedic moments. At the end of Gevinson's Ted Talk she tell the audience that everyone should be Stevie Nicks. She does not say this just because she thinks Stevie Nicks is super cool, she says this because of the way she holds herself. • 11. Analysis Of Perks Of Being A Wallflower 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' follows shy and kind–natured Charlie Kelmeckis (Logan Lerman– Percy Jackson, The Butterfly Effect) as he enters high school alone, after the recent loss of his middle school best friend to suicide. Charlie gets befriended by seniors Sam (Emma Watson– Harry Potter–Beauty and the Beast) and Patrick (Ezra Miller– Justice League, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) and finally feels accepted. I absolutely adored Stephen Chbosky's (Beauty and the Beast, Allegiant) 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' for its captivating and emotionally driven storyline that will intensely connect with all. The movie is filled with teen angst and struggles we can all relate to and discusses topics our society shuns from. This is captivating to an audience and makes them think about mental health and trauma in a way they haven't before. 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' fits into the romance and drama genres, but the movie truly shines in its role as a coming of age film. 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' tackles the hardships and pain that growing up can sometimes make you feel, and depicts high school in the most realistic way I have seen for a while. Other coming of age films like 'Clueless' and 'Mean Girls' portray high school in a sort of innocence, with issues going on in the protagonist's lives only occurring during their times at school. This film doesn't sugar coat things. It shows Charlie's struggles from all different angles of growing up and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Analysis Of The Film Powder Powder is an albino teenage boy who was very intelligent and shunned after the death of his last relative. After the death, people began to judge powder, not even knowing what he looked like or the kind of person he was. His special abilities make him an outcast. In the readings, it says, "The stranger in town becomes shrouded with suspension. Every action is scrutinized. Every inaction is a sign of guilt." The writer's argument is, don't judge a book by its cover. The Screen writer and director of the film is Victor Salva. He is a writer and director of over twenty short and long films before he graduated from high school. According to IMDb, the movie Powder was his first big–studio picture. It received a lot of critical acclaims and was top–ten of the year several times. Article Bio states, "Professionally his career started from the year 1986 and within today's context of time he is able to obtain successful position within the industry. After his biological father left the family he was brought up by stepfather who often whose to get drunk and disturb the family mostly by physical abuse." After the death of one of his grandparents, he is discovered and sent to state home where he has trouble fitting in. His unusual appearance and abilities caused the people in the town to mock and fear him. Sheriff Barnum's wife, Emma is sick and in a coma and sheriff is unsure of what he should to help her. Jessie asks Powder to pay Emma a visit to see if he could help. He touches Emma and shares her thoughts with sheriff. It becomes clear to Powder that he will fit in with the others, so he runs away and goes back home. Had they not judged him, they would be able to see the good and potential in him. The writer/director wants the audience to think that our judgements and criticism shields us from seeing the good and beauty in someone or something. His point is that we only perceive what is in front of us. We as people are afraid of strangers because we taught to. The word stranger has a series of definitions. According to Dictionary.com, A stranger can be a person with whom one has had no acquaintance, a newcomer in a place or locality. (excl. concl. stages)In Pleasantville, the filmmaker, Gary Ross, conveys his attitude towards change through the characters of David and Jennifer who are transported into the 1950s sitcom "Pleasantville". He doesn't necessarily demonstrate change to bear a positive result; rather, he addresses that change is essential to the development of society and self and that it is important to understand and accept change. For example, the burning of books is reminiscent of that in 1936 when the German government burnt all books which would oppose its rule, in fear that the society it governed would think of rebelling. Big Bob is the obvious ruler, as he is almost always seen with a low shot, making him look big and powerful to the audience. Bob's situation is similar, burning books to stop changes occurring. Books are seen as works of art which are derived from the imagination of thinking people. Bob's censorship practices extend to the prohibition of Mr Johnson from using colours to paint (that is, from using the full extent of his imagination) in his Code of Conduct. In this way, he is much like the German government in the 30s. However, he wants to continue his rule without any violent opposition; only 'pleasantness'. There is irony however, as there is vandalism and disruption when the Milk Bar is broken into and sabotaged because of his encouragement, which is the exact opposite of 'pleasant'. • 17. The Conseption Of Powingder In The Movie Powder And You Re... Xenophobia came from the Greek word "xenos" which means a foreigner. According to Healthtopia, "Xenophobia is the condition where the person feels threatened and terror when confronted by a person with a different background." The movie Powder and You Re Not Alone are example of why we are afraid of strangers. Not all strangers are bad people. Some strangers you have to look out for and others could be really good people. Powder is an albino teenage boy who is very intelligent and was shunned after the death of his last relative. People started judging and criticizing powder, not even knowing who he was, what he looked like, or the type of person he was. The special abilities that he had made him an outcast. In the readings it says, "The stranger in town becomes shrouded with suspension. Every action is scrutinized. Every inaction is a sign of guilt." The writer's argument is, don't judge a book by its cover. After the death of one of his grandparents, he is discovered and sent to state home where he has trouble fitting in. His unusual appearance and abilities caused the people in the town to mock and fear him. Sheriff Barnum's wife, Emma is sick and in a coma and sheriff is unsure of what he should to help her. Jessie asks Powder to pay Emma a visit to see if he could help. He touches Emma and shares her thoughts with the sheriff. An outsider, or a person who is not a member of the family, group, community, or a visitor. The Intended audience seems to be Adults, or anyone into fantasy and mystery movies. The video has a certain negative tone which portrays the wild side of the country, surrounded by filth, drugs, and teenage prostitution (Vice Guide to Liberia). There are a series of allegories included within the video to add more negative effect on the series of situations. • 21. Persuasive Essay On Stay In Control Kate Wang Professor Lang Eng 101 25 September 2017 Don't Let Smoking Control Your Life In today's growing society, smoking is still a major problem among many humans. A lot of teens and young adults are revealed to the effects of smoking through the exposure of secondhand smoke. The presence of secondhand smoke can be encountered through family members, friends, and even people in the surrounding area. Since smoking is so accessible, anyone is able to obtain a cigarette. The result of smoking, however, presents undesirable outcomes. As an example, cancer, lung disease, a change in lifestyle and personality, or impacted decisions. Similarly, the advertisement campaign "Stay In Control" by The Real Cost introduces us to Amanda Green – a teenage girl who finally has the independence to define who she is. However, before she can, Amanda gives up part of her freedom to smoking. The losses of freedom to smoking includes everything from her life, her money, her boundaries, etc. Through the use of vivid imagery, voiceover, and sad emotions, the ad "Stay In Control" effectively conveys a message about the harmful effects of smoking to its intended audience: teens and young adults. During the youth ages 12–17, the use of tobacco is consistently established and started. Adolescents who are open to cigarettes attempt to try it and many who try a cigarette move to addictive, regular use. Likewise, the powerful imagery presented in this ad gives the audience a sense of relation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though Commedia dell'Arte is a rather old style of theatre Clint and Ben were able to modernise it by adding multiple elements which can be considered normal within teenage life. Things like using words like "lol", "yolo" and talking about general things like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus. Which made the performance relatable for the audience which inturn was hilarious. Like with all dramatic performances most pf the time there is a backdrop of some sort. What Ben and Clint used was a basic yet classic backdrop that featured portraits of the two masters. Movie Analysis : ' The Notebook ' When the older group of women sit down to watch this film, they are more likely to be watching in envy, and look at the film as a wish that may never come true. In this instance, they could also live vicariously through the events and characters in The Notebook. Also, women who are married or in long–lasting relationships are probably more likely to bring their significant other to the film. Regardless of age, the love and relationship is an attractive attribute to the film, and the outcome of the film is something any women or couple aspire for. From this gathered information, the audience for the notebook would be young single women looking for love, or women in their thirties and forties who have relationships in which they would compare the film to. It is also geared toward couples in love. In the Notebook, there are instances where quirks and laughable moments are used to make the scenes seem more realistic. One moment is when Noah's best friend bluntly asks Noah and Allie if they are in live after an awkward trip to the movie theatre. This is something that so many people can relate to, and recollect on who of their friends would do that to them in a situation as such. Another example of this is during an argument between the couple. Allie must decide if she will leave Noah for another man, and she expresses her doubts from their own personal relationship. The Video Is A Music Video Me!Me!Me! is a music video and animated short that was created for the Japan Animator Expo in 2014, but was released in the US in 2015 through Vimeo with English subtitles. The song in the video was made by the electronic music artist Teddyloid feat. Daoko, a Japanese singer. The audience of this video would be all fans of anime and electronic music, i.e. presumably young people who proactively use electronic devices. The video is set in three main sequences, each revolving around the main character, a young teenage boy. It follows his dreamy haze of his break– up, and his interactions with idealized, semi–human females. My interpretation of this video was that this young man lost all meaningful relationships in his life because of his unrealistic expectations of women due to pornography and the representation of women in popular culture, and how his addiction to these forms of media only made it worse. The purpose of this video is to highlight the issues with unnecessary sexualization of women, escapism and addiction, as well as heartbreak and regret. This author's intent was to prove director Hibiki Yoshizaki was an amazing storyteller and animator, and for the video to gain attention and views, through the use of hyper– sexualized imagery. This is shown in the video by the depiction of women inside his mind as two conflicting personalities, his loving girlfriend, and nightmarish girls who, as the video description states, "attack and ravish" him, and the environment they ... Let the Right One in is a "stage adaptation by Jack Thorne based on the Swedish novel Marla Rubin Productions Ltd." and it was directed by Tom Huston Orr as a fall main stage production for the university (University Theatre Program). Let the Right One In was captivating and occupied the space with great power. Immediately once the show began, I noticed the forwarding aspect of the overlapping scenes to help bring momentum to the production. The specific reference I am making is to the introduction of the character Oskar, who was played by Sam Pinson, coupled with Hakan's first murder. Hakan was played by Weston Vrooman and his first victim in the production is Torkel who was portrayed by Austin Reid. The overlapping of their two scenes set up a fast pace that added to some of the suspense the show itself calls for in its mood. I really enjoyed this directing choice to have the bar placed for high energy and pace right as the show began. Another aspect that I thought worked well for this production was the casting choice of Sam Pinson for Oskar. The reason I mention this is because Sam is not what I would expect in the casting of a young teenage boy. He is tall and not the typical type for that role. I had been skeptical of this decision because of how Sam is not visibly close to a child in the least, but Sam portrayed the role in a way that was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, in the fictional The Things They Carried, by Tim O'Brien, he turns the idea on its head: a story does not necessarily have to be honest if the emotions behind the story are. O'Brien uses techniques such as hyperbolic characters and verisimilitude to show his audience that while the verbatim anecdotes are not true, the sentiment behind them is true. Through the characters of Mary Anne and Norman Bowker, O'Brien successfully uses the audience's trust against them to create varying images of unbelievability and believability, which ultimately helps achieve the goal of making his ... He could not bring himself to talk to anyone about his experiences, though it "[was] a good time to talk" (134). When finally given the chance to get his emotions off his chest at the A&W, Bowker could only muster out "Nothing" when the intercom questioned if he had anything to say (146). The reluctance to share true war memories is a quality that veterans who have observed severe trauma can relate to. Similar how to Bowker continued around the lake in circles and circles, veterans cannot break out of the circle that is their experience of war. The only people they feel safe talking to are members of their old platoon, and even if they want to be able to express themselves and their emotions, there is a seemingly invisible barricade that prevents them from sharing. In Bowker's case, the pent up emotion lead to "[hanging] himself in the locker room of a YMCA" (149). It is targeted at women, aged between thirteen to fifty because society seems to demand that it is essential for women to look extraordinarily beautiful and have flawless skin. The advertisement appeals to the targeted audience as the beautiful woman on the advertisement with flawless skin entices young and older women to want to try Tux soap. Visual techniques evident in advertisement include the title, which conveys the message that "Most men ask "Is she pretty? Not "Is she clever?". The title misleads women by persuading them that men only look at aspects of beauty but not intelligence or kindness. However, it is extremely effective as women will be attracted to the advertisement in how they can allow their beauty to be seen and would want to read more into it. Furthermore, the dull background colours such as the light blue and grey shades make the woman's flawless skin and her fair complexion appear more prominent and appealing to the eye, satisfying the audience. Moreover, the advertisement includes a larger size for the words, "Most men ask "Is she pretty?" and a smaller size is utilised for "not "Is she clever?" this differentiation convinces the audience that being prettier is more important than being clever. Guare uses the post–modern technique of fragmentation to purposely distance the audience from the action. This technique causes the audience to immediately see the fear of rejection and isolation by society felt by the characters, provoking the audience to reflect the characters determination to be accepted. Guares darker twist on the need to belong is represented through the central motif of the play, the Kandinsky, the two–sided painting, a metaphor for the different dimensions of a person. Guare seems to be suggesting that to belong in our modern society, we must follow the rules dictated by society and hide our true desires. This is enhanced by the characterization of Ouisa and Flan who present themselves as courteous, but expose the audience to their true intentions of striving to connect to a higher social class: "Having a rich friend is like drowning, and your friend makes life boats." The character Paul is a symbol of this determination and desperation, creating the persona of Sidney Poitier's son for the acknowledgement and acceptance he receives from it. He uses deception of his true identity to minimize social marginalization and fulfill his emotional need to connect. • 51. Movie My Favorite Movie I love watching movies. Their ability to transport you to another world for two hours and make you care about people that aren't real is the most unrecognized form of magic. I'm not a critic, so any movie will do, as long as I'm interested enough to watch it. Many movies stick in my mind, whether it's a hilarious joke, an awesome fight scene, or simply a unique plot. There is one movie, however, which stands out among them all. A film I had never heard of before viewing called Prisoners. From start to finish, I was invested in the characters and their goals. I felt their fear and desperation. I was in the movie, not sitting on my living room couch. The movie Prisoners was suspenseful, chilling, and memorable, so there is no doubt in my mind that it is my favorite movie, and I will likely remember it for the rest of my life. The backbone of any good movie is the story. The story is the rope that the movie uses to drag you in, to make you feel for the characters, to make you more than a simple movie viewer. Prisoners was about Keller Dover, an average man with a teenage son and a young daughter. They have friends down the street, another family just like them. Life isn't perfect, but it's far from anything worth complaining about. Then. the unthinkable happens. The young girl goes missing. From that moment on, both the police and Keller search for her, but they use methods that are drastically different from each other. This poses a question to the audience: How far would you go for the people you love? The way the movie portrayed the desperation of Mr. Dover and the detective assigned to the case was perfect. As time went on, doubt and fear began to take over the minds of everyone involved. As they mystery was slowly unraveled, many twists and turns prevented the solution from being obvious. I was constantly thinking about what might have happened, and I was still nowhere near to close. The emotions felt by everyone who feared for this innocent girl and wondered where she was exploded on the TV screen. It was suspenseful, heart– wrenching, and everything you could want from a movie. Analysis Of The Book ' The Twilight Series ' A young psychic teen hiding from the CIA embarks on a quest to find a hidden treasure that is linked to an old murder, but corrupt police, the CIA, greedy relatives, a crazy homeless man, and the girl he falls smitten with hinder his efforts. STORY COMMENTS CODE NAME TRACKER: INDIGO is a highly creative and imaginative novel that is targeted for the young adult audience. Like the TWILIGHT series one can easily envision the success of such a series of books and a possible film franchise. The novel has a strong hook with the idea of the protagonist having psychic skills. The script combines a supernatural tale with drama and dark comedy. The storyline offers intrigue, action, forbidden love, betrayal, corruption, and the supernatural. The story also offers solid twists and turns. The main storyline centers on the psychic teen searching for missing treasure. It's a smart story choice, as everyone loves the idea of finding buried treasure. This gives the novel a strong, actionable goal with merit, and it keeps the story goal–focused. The subplot of the budding teen romance supports the main storyline and is fluidly integrated. One of the major strength of this novel is the compelling ensemble cast. Each character feels original and refreshing. They are complex and rich in personality. There's no doubt that these characters would attract talent if produced into a film. The novel clearly identifies Ryan Gordon as the mystifying, insecure hero. Ryan is easy to like and ... • 55. Netflix Movie And Book Comparison Paper Many authors have a specific audience in mind when they begin to create their work. This can be seen in many different websites on the same type of information. I chose to compare the websites http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4834206/ and http://www.lemonysnicket.com/. The first website is the IMDB information page for the new Netflix series A Series of Unfortunate Events and the second website is the official website of the book series of the same title. Both websites provide information on this book series. The primary audience of the IMDB website is professional critics. These critics have professional insight and review books, TV shows, and movies for a living. They are adults that have been hired to critique the new series. On the IMDB website, these critics can post their reviews of the new Netflix series and they can also rate the series. Their comments on the series will be reviewed by other people interested in watching the series. In contrast, the primary audience of www.lemonysnicket.com is the readers of the book. Due to the fact that this is the official website for the books, the readers and fans of the book series trust this website and would visit it. The fans are mostly in their teenage years or early twenties and they know the series by heart. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 57. Uaa's Stalking The Bogeyman UAA's production of Stalking the Bogeyman created an uneasy atmosphere that placed the audience in the mind of the main character for eighty minutes. The small cast made spectacular use of the space around the audience, lighting, costume and set designs, as well as unique vocal choices that gave definition and life to their characters. I would also like to commend the cast for braving what was an emotionally difficult production. The opening scenes of Stalking the Bogeyman gave the audience a great opportunity to learn a little bit about each of the characters. While the parents were a little more "bland" because they weren't the story's focus, David and the Bogeyman both have very well defined characteristics. I was taken aback by the actor's ability to transform his whole body, voice included, into a seven year old boy's. The enthusiastic pitch in his voice and the rising and falling in energy it carried was unique to a seven year old, and was portrayed very well. David's transformation throughout the rest of the performance took the audience through his several stages of his trauma and his aging body. By the end of the performance, David's voice was hardly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initially, I had some pre–existing notions of what his character would be like before he took the stage, however his polite, energetic demeanor surprised me. The energy he used drew me in and I had believed that the Bogeyman was really a seventeen year old jock. His quick transformation after taking David downstairs showed the audience a terrifying side of the Bogeyman, he was loud, intimidating, mean, and insulting. The downward spiral brought the audience and David into the Bogeyman's clutches, a loud, obnoxious, and terrifying drunk. Throughout the rest of the play, the Bogeyman withered, and turned into what would look like a frail, nervous wreck of a man hardly deserved the nickname, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 59. The Notebook Film Elements Lauren Taibi First Paper Assignment The Notebook The movie The Notebook, directed by Nick Cassavetes and released on June 5th 2004, is a captivating love story, which takes place in the 1940's. Through filmatic elements such as Cassavetes choices of cinematography, editing, narrative, mise en scene, sound and music, he creates an extremely believable story of two teenagers in the 1940's who fell in love over the time span of one summer. In order to create a 1940's vibe, Cassavetes wisely uses a specific choice of costumes, makeup and scenery to portray exactly the time period he wanted to. The main character Allie, played by Rachel McAdams, is a free–spirited 17 year old who in the beginning of the movie is seen wearing a variety of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Music also plays a key role in reminding the audience that this movie took place in the past. The sound used in this movie serves a large purpose. There are many scenes when Cassavetes allows everything else to be silent and the object of focus to be the loudest in order for the audience to truly concentrate on its meaning. Going back to the scene when Allie and Noah dance in the street together, Cassavetes purposely makes them dance without actual music initially and has Noah hum the tune he wishes to slow dance to, while all else is silent. The reasoning for this is to further contribute towards Cassavetes attempts to get the audience to fall in love with the two teenager's relationship. Dancing without music in the middle of the street shows that the couple can have a great time with nothing else but their love and it also portrays their free spirit and fun personalities. Another time when sound serves a specific purpose is when Noah takes Allie to an abandoned house that he promises he will fix up when he gets older so they can live together in it. A dusty piano in the corner intrigues Allie and she begins to play one of her favorite slow tunes. All else is completely silent in the room as Cassavetes forces the audience to focus on the tune she is playing, for it serves a purpose later on in the movie. When the scenes switch back and forth between the story of Noah and Allie, and an old man narrating this story to an old woman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Early on, within the opening scene, the headmaster addresses the students about the importance of keeping tradition, within the school and their personal lives. Due to the ways tradition has been ingrained into their lives, the group of boys is reluctant to explore new grounds. Charlie stands obediently, listening to the teachers, Neil continues his monotonous life, and Knox admires Chris Noel from afar. Due to current societal norms, Charlie is forbidden from even considering to disobey a teacher, Neil is tied to his life by a stern father, and Knox cannot make his move on Chris while she has a boyfriend. However, after meeting, Mr. Keating the boys soon learn to move on from societal constraints that bound them to their misery. He actively encourages the boys to individualize themselves, they shouldn't adhere to tradition if it makes them miserable. Because of his advice, the boys choose to pursue their dreams, Charlie begins to rebel by writing an article that asks why girls can't go to Welton, which defies the tradition of the school. Neil pursues acting and lands the leading role in the production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, to the dismay of his father, and Knox goes after Chris. All these acts of defiance were in pursuit of their happiness and catalyzed by their teacher. Many audience members will find these youthful acts of defiance reminiscent of their own youth, the classic rebellious teenage years. Since the audience has also acted similarly to these youths, they project themselves into our protagonists as they reject tradition. For my critical investigation I will be investigating how and why both print and e–media manipulate images to alter the look of their subjects and how this can impact on society. I will address the issues surrounding Photoshop manipulation and look at both the positives and negatives with regards to how this is used in the media. Thomas and John Knoll are the creators of what one might say to be a controversial and innovative piece of software named 'Adobe Photoshop'. Adobe Photoshop has been the main piece of software since it's initial release in 1990 to give a user the power to apply sharper and/or a surreal look to an image that they have photographed. With this being said, young teenage girls become more naive with regards to celebrities in the fashion and beauty industry, and typically idolize. Furthermore, they personally identify themselves with said celebrities, and admire them. Nowadays, more often than not, images will be altered with Photoshop, making celebrities and models look thinner, taller, and completely unblemished with perfect white teeth and bodily curves. Seemingly 'perfect'. Thus meaning that society are viewing in some form or another, a fabricated image, yet not knowing this. To these organisations, editing is basically a mandatory process where the images they use simply go through the manipulation process to make women look 'perfect', even if they are already naturally beautiful. What these organisations are trying to say is, no woman is perfect and will always need a touch of alteration with online software. • 69. The Rhetorical Analysis Of 'Best In Class' For almost two centuries, the system of public education has honored the best and the brightest high school graduates with the honorable titles of valedictorian and salutatorian.Though these titles have been a valued part of graduation for what seem like the entire history of American public schooling, they are under heavy scrutiny as impassioned and angry parents, as well as their hardworking students, attack the idea of only recognizing one or two of the class's most talented seniors. In "Best in Class", reporter Margaret Talbot challenges the traditional system of choosing a single valedictorian by by exposing the emotional opposition to the system's change or preservation; her use of emotional dialogue as well as far less emotional, far more objective writing style allows Talbot to emphasize specific ideas and opinions with syntax to avoid confrontation, while simultaneously establishing that it is time for the traditional system of valedictory to change. One key rhetorical pattern that allows Talbot extensive control over how the audience views her topic is diverse syntax. Via mostly cumulative sentences, Talbot is able to clearly emphasize a specific idea about the subject while remaining neutral. For example, she explains that "Saratosa is a competitive school district–– while visiting the area, I saw a car with a bumper sticker that read, 'My Child Was Student of The Month at Tuttle Elementary'–– but most of the high schools have taken Kennedy's lead"(224). ... They made their debut in South Korea with the hit song "Push Push" and have had many other popular songs. One of their most recent singles "Touch My Body," is a feel good summer song that targets a couple of different audiences. SISTAR's song goes after females from the ages of 12 to 25 by using the trendiest fashion, their appearances, and how they carry themselves. The song also targets a completely different audience, men. Heterosexual males ages 14 to 30 enjoy this song for a set of completely different reasons; such as how much skin is shown with the clothing that is being worn, suggestive lyrics in the form of sexual innuendos, and the provocative dance moves that are used throughout the entire video. SISTAR's success with these audiences comes from using their combination of fashion sense and sex appeal to keep them interested. It's not just people in South Korea that are affected, but fans overseas as well. K–Pop is popular throughout the world with an exclusive radio station in Australia, and an annual convention here in America. STORY COMMENTS SUPERSOMETHING is a super, fun comedy that entertains and delivers a very likable heroine that the audience finds endearing. It's a superhero tale that's highly creative and the imagination shines. The highlight of this tale is the heroine Vinette. She's a quirky and insecure mother, who once dreamed of becoming a cop. The idea of the statue comes early and sets up nice anticipation. However, the true inciting event is when Vinette discovers that she now has superpowers. This comes a bit late. Consider eliminating the dream. While there are some fun visuals in the dream, such as the string of tampons, the dream slows the pace down and isn't essential to the storytelling. Currently, the reveal that Vinette has changed comes around page 24, but consider trying to move this up to around page 15. Make sure to highlight her denial and have fun with her discovering her new powers. The first act also sets up the idea of drugs being distributed at the school. So, when Vinette discovers she has powers and decides she wants to fight crime, given her desire to be a cop, make sure she verbalizes that she wants to find out who is dealing drugs at the school. This makes her goal clearer and more tangible. She can decide to practice her new skills at crime fighting, but this is where the structure is the weakest. There's a series of scenes in which she talks to her friends and then goes on several crime–stopping adventures. Unfortunately, this makes the structure weaker and a bit more fragmented. Also, the idea of attempted rape doesn't fit with the tone. Consider focusing more on her investigation of who might be distributing the drugs. Peel away her powers. The idea of ...
