Neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS), also known as infant respiratory distress syndrome (IRDS) or hyaline membrane disease, is a condition caused by insufficient pulmonary surfactant in premature infants. It is characterized by respiratory distress within hours of birth, progressive dyspnea, cyanosis, and respiratory failure. NRDS occurs primarily in preterm infants less than 28 weeks gestation and is a major cause of neonatal death. The lungs of affected infants lack sufficient pulmonary surfactant, resulting in alveolar collapse and difficulty breathing.

Shining the spotlight on Information Literacy : experience of the Veterinary ...UCD Library
The document discusses information literacy in the context of problem-based learning (PBL) at the Veterinary Medicine Library at University College Dublin. It finds that 95% of veterinary medicine students consider the library important for PBL. Students who spent more time in the library and felt the library was important displayed higher levels of information literacy. However, some PBL facilitators directed students to information instead of encouraging independent searching, and those students showed lower information literacy. The document concludes that information literacy should be consciously developed in PBL and that librarians have an important role to play in curriculum development and student skill building.

I am a mammal looking for a potential mate. As a mammal, I give live birth and care for my young, keeping them safe. I live on land or in water depending on the type of mammal I am, and enjoy foraging for food or hunting in my free time. I also like to play with friends. As a mammal, I have adaptations like a placenta, sweat glands, and opposable thumbs that allow me to care for offspring and survive in different environments. I am looking for a strong mate who can demonstrate good genes for offspring.
Good morning america...A brief postlude for 9 11Jose Payano
In the aftermath of September 11, just as I was watching the news I was (that I thought) inspired by the events. I was sad by what was happening at that fateful moment and so I began to write...This is my "Postlude to September 11". Just in case, English is my "second language"!
PM aims to involve employees more through communication and participation, which has been praised as empowering employees by removing sources of powerlessness. However, some argue PM is just a way for managers to control employees, not empower them. While PM may indirectly empower employees through feelings of contribution, its success relies heavily on management commitment and ensuring employee and manager interests are aligned. For PM to truly empower, managers must also be committed and employees' interests understood and addressed.

It also discusses different types of managers like general managers, plant managers, and department managers. Their roles involve allocating resources, setting objectives, coordinating activities, implementing strategy, teaching, training, scheduling, and facilitating work. Effective management is important for the success of organizations and depends more on the administrative abilities of leaders than their technical skills.
