Toxicology is the study of the adverse effects of chemicals on living systems and the means to prevent or ameliorate such effects. It examines both therapeutic agents and many environmental and synthetic compounds. Toxicology terminology is evolving as the science advances. Toxic substances can be organic or inorganic and can affect the whole body systemically or specific organs. There are different types of toxicological analyses conducted for various purposes such as forensic analysis, workplace drug testing, and diagnostic testing in hospitals.
