In this Observation Report, I will be discussing the technology and sights I encountered throughout
both the Dark Sky Night, and the 1st Quarter Night. Explanations of both the astronomical

These past two weeks, while the theatre has been relatively calm, I chose three different pieces
of media in order to delve further into my theater knowledge. The first of which is Waiting for
Guffman , a mockumentary on the beginning of a theater company in Blaine, Missouri. The town

Apparently this is a commonly used tactic that many actors use to keep calm in an audition
setting. Another tip was that if you risk failure, you can make truthful discoveries about yourself
or a character. Failures become the struggles that lead to success; the word, failure, carries more
weight than it should, and most failures are actually setbacks. The only time you truly fail is
when you quit because you become incapable of success. The final piece of advice that I found
helpful was to find other creative outlets. In a field like acting, the majority of the job is going to
auditions and waiting. Therefore, it becomes imperative that you find ways to use your creativity,

always a hero by mistake; he dreams of being an honest coward like everyone else. Mattie Ross
does not become a hero just because she wants to become a hero, she has a call. That call creates
a goal she wants to achieve and she becomes the hero of this novel because of this. She will not
have a goal if her call to adventure does not occur. A queststory always contains a hero, a wise old
man, and a guide. In Charles Portis novel True Grit, he demonstrates exactly that. Mattie Ross
comes forth as the hero of his novel. Rooster Cogburn assists her by taking on the role of the wise

roles of these characters in a quest story.
Mattie Ross clearly portrays the hero of a quest novel. To begin, a hero gets a call that leads them
into their journey. The call happens as the basis for the task they wish to achieve. They tend to get
the call which bases their entire adventure, and allows the character to become a hero. Mattie
receives a call for adventure when hearing the news that Tom Chaney killed her father, Frank Ross.
After hearing about her father s death, Mattie will stop at nothing to get revenge on his killer. Not
