2. Dobby loom
A Dobby Loom is a type of floor loom that controls the
warp threads using a device called a dobby. A dobby
loom is an alternative to a treadle loom. A manual
dobby uses a chain of bars or lags each of which has
pegs inserted to select the shafts to be moved. A
computer assisted dobby loom uses a set of solenoids
or other electronic devices to select the shafts.
Activation of these solenoids is under the control of a
computer program. In either case the selected shafts
are raised or lowered by either leg power on a dobby
pedal or electric or other power sources.

6. Jacquard Loom
.
The jacquard is a shedding device attached to the top of the
hand loom or a power loom and controls a large number of
warp threads with a view to produce the maximum variety of
sheds (without and heald shaft) for ornamenting the fabrics.

8. Advantage of Jacquard Shedding :
• It can be used for a large design which cannot
be positive on tappet or dobby. (It can produce
most complex or any design).
• It can produce any shape of design.
• One warp thread for each harness.
• Most costly fabric is produced. (Costing:
Jacquard>Dobby>Tappet).
• No heald shaft is used.
• Every thread is controlled individually.
• It is possible to lift 2000-3000 yarns at any
instant.
