“Public Domain is the celebration of public space,
and the encouragement of public
activities that drives the form of the practice’s
buildings.”
“Sustainable urban development is dependent on
three factors:
The quality of architecture, social well-being and
environmental responsibility. “
Legibility
Flexibility
“Work, leisure and domestic activities are
becoming interchangeable, leading to
the creation of open-ended, flexible
structures such as the Pompidou Centre,
the
Wimbledon House, 88 Wood Street, and
Barajas Airport in Madrid.
“Our master plans are defined by an
holistic approach allowing for enough
flexibility to accommodate changes
over the lifespan of a city, in order to
meet market
demands. The practicalities and
concept of a public place should be
inherently flexible
in order to respond to changes such
as transport and density.“

MILLENIUM DOME : Study
Externally, it appears
as a large
white marquee with
twelve 100 m-high
yellow support towers
one for each month of
the year, or each hour
of the clock face.
In plan view it is circular,
365 m in diameter —
one meter for each day
of the year — with
scalloped edges

A CRITIQUE
Richard Rogers, though born in Italy, is British
by nationality.
He initiates different interesting concepts
which reflect his individual identity in the
world of architecture.
Each and every building designed by him has
some amazing thing which a normal human
eye wandering around can experience.
For e.g.
The millennium dome structure has such a
concept about the time – no. of days, no. of
hours etc.
365 m in diameter — one meter for each day of
the year
Though Richard is a worldwide known
Architect,
But still almost 80% of his work has been
done in UK, being a British national the
person is so much in love with his nation that
he wants it to be unique.
WONDERFUL CONCEPTS
As per my perception, Richard does not
think much about the context of the
building which might be wrong as per
architects but, Richard has those
magnificent concepts which makes forget
the context and surroundings.
While looking at all the structures
discussed above I did not realize
anything except for the building
which I was looking at.

DESIGN IDEOLOGY/ PHILOSOPHY
“To gain something beautiful, one may have
to give up something beautiful.”
“It is better to BE what you are, than to SEEM
what you are not!”
“Don’t be euphoric when people praise you, or
depressed when people criticize you!”
Truth is the ultimate search of all artists. Even
then I feel, “It is better to Search the Good,
than to Know theTruth!”
“There is only one form of good luck, which is
having good teachers!”
THOUGHT ABOUT
ARCHITECTURE
“Architecture is a curious craft !”
“One structure may follow all of the laws
of design, yet be worthless, while still
another may break all the principles and
be profound!”
“A building may be bad without doing
anything wrong, yet another work may
have to sin against architecture to reach
perfection.”

A CRITIQUE DEEP THINKING
CCB’s Architecture has deep thoughts,
which make him design the structure
which blends with modernity and the
context simultaneously.
Aspiration to create something
vernacularly unique has compelled
Benninger to get into modernity
with play of shapes and spaces.
Benninger in all his designs has pin-
pointed into material use, nature care and
blending with the context. This is what
makes his type of architecture different
from others.
Simple, Functional, Modern,Vernacular..
would be some aspects to describe the
buildings of Benninger.
Another mention in his designs would be of
Symmetry – His designs do have symmetrical
forms and facades.
