The document discusses the layout and design of a magazine page featuring Lady Gaga. It uses a large black and white photo of Lady Gaga that takes up the whole page. The color scheme is limited to black, white, and red. A big red "L" is used to represent Lady Gaga's name and draw readers in. The dense text is organized into three columns, and drop caps are used to identify new paragraphs. The layout makes good use of space and dedicates the entire page to Lady Gaga's image.
2. The photo takes up the whole of the
page, instantly identifying the person
and brings the audience’s attention to
it. Lady gaga in the image is acting in
a sexual manor covering her
breast, which could appeal to the male
readers or maybe female. It is also in
black and white giving it a classy look
in a very sophisticated and well
established look. I like how the mid
shot is used, to show the props and
costume for the mise-en- scene.
I may consider to use a black and
white picture for my double page
spread, the picture looks very
effective. I think you can tell all the
emotions and feeling from Lady
gaga without seeing the picture in
colour. I think I may use a black and
white picture to appeal to the
audience and use colour on the
writing.
3. The colour is very limited and it seems to stick to just three colours of
black, white and red. The red is used selectively too really stand out from
the page with the white background. The dominant image is also a dull
colour however it is used cleverly with the ‘L’ as the colour choice
complements each other almost perfecting and instantly draws in the
reader. The big red ‘L’ is representative of the article, it bring attention to
the first letter of the singer’s name. It is also in a bright red colour instantly
identifying it. It’s a big catch to bring the reader in; however it could make it
difficult to read the actual body of the text.
I really like the way they
Used the letter ‘L’ to repre-
sent Lady gaga. This shows
she is very well known and
people know her just from a
letter.
I like this way of laying
out a magazine, I will
take this into
consideration and think
about using it for my
magazine.
4. The title of the article is quite simplistic; it doesn’t really stand out implying
that the magazine is relying on the image more than the title. The density
of the text is quite dense. There is a lot of text, although its only three
columns, there packed full on a page. It looks quite daunting so they’ve
made sure to bring the reader in by creating a mysterious look about it
covering it up with the red ‘L’.
The use of drop caps instantly identifies
the start of a new paragraph and is an
attention grabber; you see that letter
before you see any of the body. They
are also considerable size so you can’t
miss them.
The use of space has been planned out
very well so that there is hardly any
blank area apart from the very top of
the page that has the heading on it. The
layout is very plain and it uses up nearly
all the black space and dedicates on page
entirely to a large image of the star.
