Psychological Ethical Egoism
When it comes to life every person main is goal is to make themselves as happy as possible in
any choice that they make. Students that attend college want to have fun at school and get a
degree that benefits them. A degree might cost a lot of money but the benefits of being happy
with a good job in the future is greater than the cost. Every person has one life to live why not
make the best of it by focusing only on your own happiness. Ethical Egoismis a theory that each
person should pursue his or her own self interest exclusively. Ethical Egoismand Psychological
Egoism sometimes get confused with each other but they both have different meanings. Ethical
Egoism states that people ought to pursue his or her own self interest exclusively. While
Psychological Egoism states that people do in fact pursue his or her own self interest
exclusively. An example of Ethical Egoism would be that a man should take his friend girlfriend
from him because he wants her and will make him the happiest man on earth. An example of

The world would be better off if every person only cared about themselves and not care about
benefiting other people. A problem with that argument is that if it makes the society better than it
goes against what Ethical Egoism stands for. The philosopher Ayn Rand believe that altruism will
cause a person to sacrifice they life to make someone else happy; thus only Ethical Egoism values
a person s life. The issue with what Rand believe in is that there s people less fortunate than others
that should be help by other people; therefore, it should be a balance between altruism and Ethical
Egoism. Ethical Egoism has opposing arguments on why it should not be practice by a

A number of different wireless technilogies have been developed for inddor localisation like Infra
Red , Ultra Sound , RFID , WLAN, Bluetooth etc. Before the various positioning systems are
discussed, we examine a few of the wireless localisation positioning algorithms developed to inproe
the accuracy of localisation.
There are four main techniques for indoor location estimation:triangulatio, fingerprinting, dead
reckoning and proximity sensing.
Triangulation
Based on the information of coverage area of a localisation system and the geometric properties of
a triangle, absolute and relative postioning information can be determined. This approach is further

In addition,a timestamp must be attached to the transmitting signal for the measuring unit to
determine the distance the signal has travelled.
Time Difference of Arrival: TDOA examines the difference in time at which the signal arrives at
different measuring units as opposed to the absolute arrival time in TOA to determine the relative
position of the object. For each measurement, the transmitter must lie in a hyperboloid with a
constant range difference between the two measuring units. The equation of the hyperboloid is as
follows
{insert equation}
{insert diagram} where {} and {} represent the measuring units i and j and (x,y,z) represents the
coordinates of the target[3][A survey]
The target can be located in the 2D plane from the intersection of two or more TDOA
measurements. Two hyperbolas are formed from TDOA measurements at three measuring units
(A,B and C) to provide the intersection point P. s The above two methods described require a Line
of Sight channel between the transmitter and the reciever which might not always be available. In
such a scenario, radio propogation and time of arrival signals suffer from multipath effect. Therefore
the accuracy of the estimated location can be affected.Another approach is to use the attenuation
suffered by the emitted signal to determine the distance of the object from the measuring unit. These
methods calculate the signal path loss from

Essay on When Harry Met Sally
When Harry Met Sally The film I chose to view for this Romantic Comedy paper was When
Harry met Sally. I enjoyed this movie. The two main characters were Harry (Billy Crystal) and
Sally Allbright (Meg Ryan). When first introduced to these characters, Sally is driving to New
York, and Harry, who is the boyfriendof Sally s friend, is catching a ride with her.
Sally is a very structured person. To quote Harry, she is a high maintenance women. Harry, on the
other hand, has a more laid back attitude. This causes some tension between them on the long drive
to New York. This fits well into the romantic comedygenre. In a romantic comedy there is usually
tension between the two charcters in the beginning. Part of this pattern is for ... Show more content

They were friends, but the attraction was there. Neither of them wanted to admit it to the other
because they were afraid the other didn t feel the same. This also fits the genre quite well. When
they met this time, they both had come from long relationships that just ended. Harry and Sally
spend the next year or so getting back into the dating scene. They spend a lot of time with one
another, but do not get romantically involved. They have a great time together. They both miss the
people they had there long relationships with.
Harry decides to introduce Sally to one of his friends, and Sally does the same. They all go out on
a double date. As luck would have it, there friends his it off with one another and leave Harry and
Sally. There friends end up getting married.
Sally s ex boyfriend calls her and tells her he is getting married. Sally takes this pretty hard. She
calls Harry and asks him to come over. While he is comforting her, they give in to the attraction
they have had for one another and sleep together. Later they wonder about the wisdom in this
decision. Sally tells Harry it was a mistake, and Harry agrees. Sally is then upset by this and gets
mad. They drift apart for a while. They both miss one another. They finnally get back together and
tell each other how much they missed them. They realized they were meant for each other. This is

Complementary and Alternative Pain Reduction Methods in Healthcare
Pain is the most commonly reported reason for coming to the hospital in America. It s causes have
a massive variance, and in many chronic cases the root source of pain can not be articulated at all.
When a patient reports pain, the role of the nurse, and the whole healthcare staff, is to aim to reduce
that pain. In many cases pain reduction can be attained through nonpharmacologic, complementary
and alternative methods (CAM). Using CAM to reduce pain is an ideal scenario for both the patient
and the healthcare staff as these alternative methods have fewer negative consequential effects.
The following analysis will observe various methods of CAM pain reduction, highlighting two
major CAM therapies of interest: music therapy, animal therapy. In addition, the following analysis
will discuss how different demographics react to such therapies, with gender, age, ethnicity, and
education level playing a role in relation to a patient s willingness to be open to CAM. Lastly this
analysis will discuss the drawbacks of CAM therapies in the medical community today, emphasising
a lack of discussion between provider and patient, and the general lack of clinical education
surrounding CAM therapies within the medical community.

Mound Builders
The rise of political and social complexity can be seen in the mound building cultures of eastern
North America. Ames and Maschner listed the aspects of socio political and cultural complexity as:
sedentism, built structures, social stratification, storage, embryonic property rights, dispute
resolution strategies, and elaborated ritual or symbolic life. Moundbuilders were found in eastern
North America, with the greatest concentration of mounds found in the Mississippi and Ohio
Valleys. Mounds are a type of elaborate earthwork usually built of soil or shell with a variety of
shapes, including flat topped, rounded, slight rises of the landscape, and geometric or animal
shapes. Mounds were used for burials, territorial markers, some had temples... Show more content

intercropping, and built a great plaza used for games and ceremonials that was the size of 35

Symbolism In The Tollund Man By Seamus Heaney
Is there a specific image which can be attributed to the Troubles in Northern Ireland during the
late 1960s and 1970s? The poet Seamus Heaney answers that there is one particular image and it
is the image of a bog . In this essay, it shall examine as to why Seamus Heaney has used the
imagery of the bog as a symbol so that it can illustrate the political and also the religious troubles of
Northern Irelandduring the late 1960s and 1970s. In addition, it shall employ the use of four of
Seamus Heaneys poems: Bogland ; The Tollund Man ; Requiem of the Croppies and The
Grauballe Man to demonstrate as to how the use of the bog is truly an excellent symbol for the
depiction of Northern Irelands Troubles .

Why Education Matter To Health
Having more education can result into positive things. When people get higher education they
have more opportunities in life. To support this idea I interviewed an educator and she explained
how education can be very important. She stated, Having little education limits people s choices.
They may not be able to enter a profession or trade they would like to (Kummerow). This
exemplifies the idea that more opportunities are open for people that get more education. For
instance, a person can have a better job. This is beneficial because it will result in more money
and it will also increase the chance for people to get a job they actually like and want. Also, people
that have a lower income usually can t afford living in a nice neighborhood.... Show more content

individuals (Kummerow). This shows that with more education there s a better chance of being
able to have connections with people that have a better profession. Also more education can benefit
crop yields. In the article The benefits of education it shows the different ways that education is
helpful. It says, Wages, agricultural income and productivity are higher where women involved in
agriculture receive a better education (Global Partnership for education). This indicates that
agriculture it s mostly impacted positively when a women has a better education. Therefore, it is

socioeconomic conditions, transportation, public health, neighborhood character, air quality and
greenhouse gas emissions would be assessed comprehensively. Transportation related variables
including impact on traffic, parking, pedestrians or bicycles, and transit facilities would be
examined as well. Example: New York City.
3.Public Convenience Necessity ( PCN )
In order to operate a taxicab in certain jurisdictions, a Certificate of Public Convenience and
Necessity ( CPCN ) is required. To apply for the certificate, a new entrant must first prove that he
/she is qualified by demonstrating his/her ability to provide a continuous taxicab service, lack of

ABSTRACT
Wireless communications is, by any measure, the fastest growing segment of the communications
industry. It has captured the attention of the media and the imagination of the public. However, the
fundamental phenomenon which makes transmission unreliable is time varying fading. The
phenomenon is described as the constructive/destructive interference between signals arriving at the
same antenna via different paths, and hence with different delays and phases, resulting in random
fluctuations of the signal level at the receiver. This paper investigates Rake receiver method of
combating fading.
The rake receiver uses a combination of correlators to separately detect M strongest multipath
components, code generators, and delays, or fingers , to spread out the individual echo signals of
the multipath. Each signal is then delayed according to peaks found in the received signal. The
rake receiver uses several sub receivers each delayed slightly in order to tune in to the individual
multipath components. Each component is decoded independently, but at a later stage combined
using delay compensate combiner and MRC dispreading in order to make the most use of the
different transmission characteristics of each

Analysis Of The Movie The Graduate Essay

The Art of Symbolism in The Graduate The movie The Graduate is a struggle story of a fine
caliber that falls under the genre of comedic drama. Some might even argue that it was one of
the best films of its time and even till this day. The way the movie blends characters is anything
but superficial and its use of symbolism to describe said characters leaves little more to be
desired. While some may not like the movie and say it falls short the movie has proper use of
symbolism through the use of multiple props, it also uses symbolic statements as a way to
strengthen Dustin Hoffman s character s archetype and clue in on specific details which in turn
shows us the relationships between him and other characters. Of the many symbolic details the
first two we encounter at the very beginning of the film are cluing us in on the character of
Dustin Hoffman who is known as Benjamin Braddock. The two details happen almost
simultaneously, one being the song The Sound of Silence by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel and
the other is the symbolic action of him sliding across the screen on an airport conveyor belt. The
first detail, the song, suggests that the character Benjamin or Ben is lost in the world. He has no
idea where to go from this point in his life forward. He is lost in the darkness of life and is
directionless. The second detail is the conveyor belt which forcibly moving him along. This
conveys the fact that throughout

Reflection Paper On Child Development
On October 21, 2017, I was able to observe Claire Marcus for my Life Span Development class.
This observation allowed me observe the physical and cognitive changes children experience. It
was performed at the Marcus household in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This observation was
consented by Claire s mother. Claire Marcus is a seven year old, female. She enjoys playing
sports, having play dates with her friends, and excelling in school. At age seven, children are
going through large stages of development physically, cognitively, socially, and spiritually. By
observing Claire Marcus, I was able to get a better understanding of these stages of development,
and I was able to see her interact with those around her. It gave me the opportunity to see the
different stages of development that I have read about in Santrock s book, Essentials of Life
Span Development. As stated by Santrock, children at this age are continually growing. In this
stage of life, children grow an average of two to three inches each year (Santrock 2014, pg. 191).
In the last year Claire grew several inches, and is no longer the shortest girl in her class. She had
to get all new clothes and shoes because she quickly out grew her old ones. During this growth
spurt, Claire also began gaining muscle, and losing her baby fat. Her motherexplained that after
Claire s growth spurt she is now the similar size to her friends and classmates. She is the average

Comparing The Birth Stories In The Gospels Of Matthew And...
Compare and contrast the birth stories in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. How do the
differences set up distinct theological emphases in each Gospel?
The foundation of the Christian faith is cradled within truth of the virgin birth, life, and resurrection
of Jesus Christ. As diverse as the world wide Christian culture is, the truth in the birth and life of
Jesus stands without border and language limitations. Just as each individual life story can be
adapted to be relevant for a variety of audiences, the birth story of the Messiah was also. The
Gospels of Matthew and Luke are an example of the well rounded and diverse narration of the
birth story of Jesus Matthew s narration spoke to the history of the Jewish people and Luke
presented to the citizen of Rome.
In the Gospel of Matthew, the focus on the Jewish genealogy of Jesus played a significant role in the
birth story. To fully understand Jesus, it was imperative to first acknowledge who Jesus was within
Jewish ancestry and his subsequent position as King of the Jews. Jewish tradition passed down the
oral and written story of Messianic prophecies for generations. To provide the correlation between
the anticipated Messiah and the fulfillment through Jesus, Matthew affirmed prophecies throughout
the birth story with two significant fulfillments Abraham s promised seed [offspring] and the virgin
birth.
Matthew, a man of Jewish descent, connects a direct ancestral line from Jesus to the patriarch of the

Necessity entrepreneurship is a very common reason for people to enter entrepreneurship.
Moreover, conducted findings discovered that most of the entrepreneurs never really wanted to
start on their own, although they were left with no opportunity (Block Koellinger, 2009).
Baldeep s lack of education played an important role in his early decisions of buying a business.
Higher educations tend to open professional opportunities and suppresses entrepreneurial traits
(Huibert Peter de, 2012). Moreover, he understood there are not many alternatives for him to raise
his social standard so entrepreneurship became a necessity. Baldeep s constant need to become
self employed got him in financial jeopardy few times. After a long struggle and little bit of saved
money, Baldeep invested and bought a vegetable franchisee business, which soon failed. Failure in
this context has been referred to loss/profit of the business, which did not meet Baldeep s
expectations.

Physics of Roller Coasters Essay
Roller coasters are driven almost entirely by inertial, gravitational and centripetal forces.
Amusement parks keep building faster and more complex roller coasters, but the fundamental
principles at work remain the same.
A roller coaster is like train. It consists of a series of connected cars that move on tracks. But unlike
a passenger train, a roller coaster has no engine or power source of its own. For most of the ride, a
roller coaster is moved only by the forces of inertia and gravity. The only exertion of energyoccurs
at the very beginning of the ride, when the cars are pulled up the first hill, or the lift hill .
The purpose of this first climb is to build up potential energy. The concept of ... Show more content

If the track slopes down, gravity pulls the front of the car toward the ground, so it accelerates. If
the track tilts up, gravity applies a downward force on the back of the coaster, so it decelerates.
The track begins with a steep climp, building up potential energy in the coaster car. The rest of the
track s hills, valleys, twists and turns are to change the built up energy back and forth between
potential energy and kinetic energy. As the train moves, it gradually loses energy to friction until it
reaches the end of the ride.
There are two major types of roller coasters, which are defined by what their tracks are made out
of: wooden and tubular steel. The tracks of wooden roller coasters are a little like traditional
railroad tracks. The metal wheels of the cars roll on a flat metal strip, about 4 to 6 inches across.
This strip is bolted to a running track made out of laminated wood. In most coasters, the car
wheels have the same flanged design as the wheels of a train (the inner part of the wheel has a
wide lip that keeps the car from rolling off the side of the track). The car also has another set of
wheels that runs underneath the track. This keeps the cars from flying up into the air.
Wooden coaster tracks are braced by wooden crossties and diagonal support beams. The whole
track structure is supported by wooden or steel beams However, since the track and support
structure are so

Marketing Plan For An Exclusive Market Essay
A marketing plan is not a list of marketing ideas from which you haphazardly choose various
concepts to test or combine for trial and error experimentation. A plan is an essential business tool
for hospitals, medical groups or provider practices to attract patients and consumers. Marketing in
health care has shifted directly to consumers and patients.
As discussed by Thomas, R. K. (2015), marketing uses a mix to of variables to influence users of an
exclusive market. Marketing health care services are about how you position the organization to
satisfy the needs of the market. Four critical elements of marketing that businesses should take into
consideration when implementing any strategic plan for healthcare services are:
Product. The right product to satisfy the needs of your target customer.

Government Corruption In Liberia
Liberia has a multi party system, with seventeen total parties. The government is modeled after the
United States government. The legislature seems to hold the most power in the country, while the
president is immune from suits, proceedings, and arrests, the president can still be impeached from
the office for treason or bribery. There is a national and a local government, though the local
government is appointed by the president until each county can afford to hold their own elections.
The elections are comparatively free, fair, and peaceful, though there were isolated incidents of
violence before and after voting, and the government shut down radio and television stations
before the vote. The president is directly elected by absolute majority in two rounds for a six
year term and are eligible for a second term. The most recent election was October 10, 2017.
Although the run off election that was scheduled for November 7 was put on hold due to fraud
allegations. The current president in office is Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. She was the first elected
female head of state in Africa. She is the role of both chief of state and head of government.
The legislature has a senate and a house of representatives. The senate has thirty members and
they serve nine year terms. The House of representative has seventy three members and has a six
year term. The last elections were due to be in 2014 but were delayed to the outbreak of Ebola.

Essay On Aksum
In the documentary Guns, Germs, and Steel, the Professor Jared Diamond asserts that the first
developed civilizations had a huge head start due to their geographical location, which allowed
them to live a period of growth. His argument is perceptible in many civilizations developments
such as Aksum s. Located in northern Ethiopia and Eritrea, Aksum was one of the first developed
African civilizations; indeed, the kingdom experienced a period of rising towards the first century.
This rising resulted from the advantages of its position in altitude, from the sustainable agriculture
system developed with the main crop Teff and also from the interactions with regions in Asia
through the red sea. Therefore, Aksum developed a bright... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Indeed, the text mentioned, At that altitude the temperature is more congenial and the diseases

illustrate, it is mentioned, the elevated land masses also force moisture laden winds up to levels at
which clouds form and rain falls (Aksum 205). In this passage, it is shown that the altitude
enhanced the water cycle which engendered an increase of rains; therefore, the kingdom had a

Ancient Stories Of The Sumerians
The Sumerians Although, we widely attribute the ancient stories of the Sumerians to pure
mythology, they went to great lengths to understand and create a way to record their history,
society structure, and development; just as we do for historical events today. The most accepted
view on what makes a culture civilized or having obtained civilization is a culture which has
attained a degree of complexity, usually characterized by urban life (Guisepi). As far as the
Sumerian culture is concerned, they created our foundation for what we consider today, as the
standards for civilization. Even though human exploration and discoveries continue to uncover
previously unknown chapters of our story here on earth, the extensive amount of archeological
evidence we have for the Sumerians and time frame, allow us to accredit them for over 100 firsts
for the human civilization from their ingenuities, accomplishments, and inventions. Many of which
we can still see in use, in some form, in our modern society today. According to Samuel Kramer, For
those not familiar with this remarkable, resourceful and intelligent people, who not only invented
writing but also established the true mythological foundations of all main religions of the world,

Morality in Cannery Row by John Steinbeck
In society, people value morality as a human quality. People learn their values from when they are
young from various sources. However, who is to say what is necessarily right and wrong? Values
and morality can have different meanings, especially if placed in the context of a distorted
materialistic society. In Cannery Row, John Steinbeckreminds people about this important theme
and how it applies on a bigger scale. The setting of the story is Cannery Row, located in
Monterey, California. Steinbeck s choice of setting is significant in that it fully captures the
breadth of humanity. On the one hand, it is an area that represents the thriving sardine industry.
On the other, it is also an area where the lower classes, including bums and whores could live. In
actuality, the story is not really about the sardine industry at all, but is rather a collection of short
stories that are all unified about the same theme, the quality and meaning of life. The main plot
of this novel is centered on Doc, a marine biologist. It begins when Mack and the boys, Lee
Chong, and Dora throw a surprise party for him to show their appreciation and great reverence
towards him. By writing about the warm relationships between Doc and the inhabitants of Cannery
Row, Steinbeck uses these short stories as his way of talking about life on a bigger scale. In
essence, Cannery Row is John Steinbeck s personal philosophy on human importance, his take on
what humans should be like, and his

Kyle Chaky An Analysis Of Video Games Can Never Be Art
In an article titled Video Games Can Never be Art, the author, Roger Ebert, a famous film critic
and well known journalist, shares his opinion that video games will never have the same status as
other great works. To specify, he claims that no video gamer now living will survive long enough
to experience the medium as an art form, (Ebert). He then subsequently explains that the definition
of art is the creation of one artist, (Ebert) meaning that a dance is an art because of the
choreographer, and architecture is art because of the architect. (Ebert) Very early in the article Ebert
makes his point exceedingly clear, he states that not only does he consider video games as
something not worth his time, but that they will never (in this lifetime,) amount to the works of
any great artist such as Michelangelo or Picasso. He then furthermore contrasts art mediums,

Visual Evaluation and Comparison: Analyzing the Advertisement Industry
The main goal of advertising is to motivate or persuade people to buy a particular product or
service, and among the media used to accomplish this are; radio, television, newspapers, and most
importantly, magazines. In order for advertisements to successfully portray a product, they must be
directed to the appropriate intended audience. In Rolling Stone and YM magazine, there are two
advertisements that display a very attractive person gazing and posing to the viewer. In advertising,

options that the consumer can purchase such as: college graphics, accessories, screen savers,
games, etc. All throughout the rest of the ad is text with some graphics and a very colorful
background. The text is simply listing the new improvements to the ymobile device. It lists the
new ring tones, how easy the improvements are, the new content, and much more. The logo is the
bullet for each one of these topics on the list to remind the viewer exactly what and whose
product they are buying. On the right side of the ad, there is a list of all of the songs that the
viewer can download and have as their ring tone. The background is very colorful, easily

afford all of these accessories to go along with their phone. The background color is a mixture of
dark and light purple with a light green blotted on random places. This almost makes the ad look

Reflective Essay On Cheerleading
In the summer prior to my freshman year of high school, I decided I wanted to try out for the
school cheerleading team. The idea of being a member of a team of passionate girls excited me,
as well as relieved anxieties I had about entering a new school; I enjoy the health benefits of
regular exercise; and the rigorous schedule was the discipline I was looking for when entering high
school. I had decisively made up my mind; I would be on the cheerleadingteam in high school.
Unfortunately, my plan did not unfold the way I imagined. Nearly 40 girls tried out, and with only
a dozen spots available on the team, a majority of the girls would not make it past the tryouts,
myself included. Although I did not have any cheer experience, I had hoped... Show more content

decided I would not try out for the high school team, as I felt the heaviness of life weighing
down on my shoulders. The summer going into my senior year was necessarily a period of
introspection, where I had attentively contemplated what I wanted to achieve in life. The
situation of my friend was no less painful, but made me realize that in order to live life to the
fullest, I must at least attempt to achieve my goals. It was my last chance to try out for the team,
a goal I had set for myself four years earlier. Ultimately, I decided to fight through my anxieties
and give it a shot. I am proud to say that I am now a cheerleader for Sanford H. Calhoun High

failure is an inevitable aspect of life. I also learned that I have a strong sense of determination

Persuasive Essay On The Gold Standards
The Gold Standard Athletic eligibility requirements are letting students get by without doing
their best. I believe more emphasis needs to be put on academics the reason we come to school.
Right now, the eligibility requirements to play sports are that the student athlete must not have
a grade of one D and one F. Grades are checked on every three weeks. I believe our school can do
better. I think that a grade of two D s, which will be checked on every week, should be this
school s requirement. Let s raise the bar! At the honor roll ceremony, I noticed that almost all of
the students, junior and senior high, were all recognized. In addition, 0% of students, in the junior
high, were ineligible in the past nine weeks. Since our school is already surpassing the
requirements made, why not raise them? It s becoming too easy to be eligible, with the obviously
intelligent students we have here at Little River schools. It will put more emphasis on schoolwork
and students will be able to achieve even more impressive and notable grades. This new
requirement will force students to do the best they can, and make their grades even better. School

higher grades equal better chances of doing well in high school classes. This new rule may result in

John Winthrop Contributions
My paper will be on John Winthrop who I chose because of the impact he made on America as
we know it today and because of his Christian background and influence. I was initially interested
in him because he was one of the major players from Europe who caused this nation to be
founded under God, if you will, and is clearly an influential man in American history. Now that I
have read more about him I realize he played an even larger role than I imagined. John Winthrop
left all that he knew to go spread the gospel and create a city on a hill to shape a nation and
despite all the hardships he faced, he never abandoned his efforts or ideals and that is a man I
would love to talk to and learn from. John Winthrop is a significant figure in American history
because he, along with a few others, laid the foundation for America as we know it today and put
in place many of the ideals and principles that we still base our government and lives on in the
present. Winthrop was with the group who were the first to govern a colony from within the colony,
helped introduce and influence the people to adopt a government in which the people ruled and
elected those making the laws and ruling over them, introduced the idea of separation of Church
and State, helped establish a program of public and private education and a grammar school in
Bostonas early as 1635. Some people even call John Winthrop the Father of New England and
America s Forgotten Founding Father. If I could actually come face to face with John Winthrop,
one of the questions I would ask him is Why he would move to America to start the Massachusetts
Bay Colony when he was doing well where he lived in England and knew the great risks of
going? To this question, I believe that Winthrop s initial and main reason would be that it was
God s plan and purpose for him in order to spread the gospel into those parts of the world and
become an example, a city on a hill, for the rest of the world. I believe he would answer this way
because of the things he writes in a Model of Christian Charity and because he had come upon
some hardships in England around this time that he said he believed were God s way of preparing
him to be willing and open to

Louis Braille is the Man Who Revolutionized the Blind World
Louis Braille: The Man Who Revolutionized the Blind World
Braille is knowledge, and knowledge is power. Louis Braille Knowledge is what makes humans,
well, human. We seek out knowledge like a flower reaches for the sunlight, or like an animals
searches for shelter from rain. It is in our nature to constantly want more knowledge. We drink it up
like water. For the entirety of human existence, however, there were those whose thirsty brains
were denied the drink of knowledge. These people were the poor, the enslaved, the unworthy , and
the handicapped. Louis Braille challenged this status quo when he invented Braille, a brilliant
system of dots that enabled blind people to read and write. Although he faced many challenges
in his life, Louis Braille revolutionized the way blind people learn and participate in society with
his invention. Louis Braille was born to Simon Rene and Monique Braille on January 4, 1809 in a
small French village 25 miles east of Paris called Coupvray. His father was a harness maker and
when Louis was three, he injured his eye while trying to cut a piece of leather with one of his
father s tools. His right eye became infected and it quickly spread to his other eye. By the time he
was five Louis was completely blind.
Despite Louis disability, his father taught him the alphabet by guiding his son s hand over nails
formed into the shapes of letters. Once Louis mastered the alphabet, he learned to write. A religious

By why us we want to understand the relationship. Occasionally we as lenders can miss this
mark and get caught up in the purpose of the loan and neglect finding a true motive. That is, a

Anthropogenic Noise Pollution And Its Effects On Cetaceans
Anthropogenic Noise Pollution and Its Effects on Cetaceans
Cetaceans use sound extensively in both communication, hunting, and navigation. However as
humanity continues to make use of the ocean we are constantly filling it with equipment that
produces high amounts of sound. These devices are starting to have an impact on cetaceans
worldwide, from mass strandings often linked to military exercises to area denials caused by busy
commercial shipping lanes and seismic surveys. If consideration is not taken towards this problem
now it could develop into something that could have degrading effects on cetacean populations in
the future. Sound waves are nothing more than an energy transfer through a medium be it through
a liquid, solid, or a gas. Sound pressure or intensity is measured on logarithmic scale in decibels
dB which increases on an order of magnitude. For instance a quiet conversation would be around
30 dB and whereas the human pain threshold would be just over 100 dB. While the pitch or
frequency of the sound is measured in hertz or Hz, the higher the hertz the higher the pitch of the
sound and vice versa (Hildebrand, 2004).
Anthropologic noise pollution can come from many different sources, some of the more common
ones are commercial shipping, acoustic deterrent devices, military sonar, and explosives (used in
some seismic surveys for oil and gas as well as military exercises). The main focus will be on
military sonar use, seismic surveys, and acoustic deterrent

Persuasive Essay On The Bogeyman
Compare and Contrast on the Boogeyman
Intro The Boogeyman is a horror character that appears in short stories he scares children at a
certain age usually 2 6 years old. This horror character usually only comes for you when you re
alone typically at night when you are sleeping in your room, he hides in the closet. What he does is
he is the horror character that makes young kids do as they are told like for example when your
mom says eat your vegetables and you said no as a kid she would say ВЁok if you donВґt eat your
vegetables the Boogeyman will come for you at night.ВЁSo the Boogeyman is there to ensure we

Paragraph 1 In the Scientific American story it tells us that the Boogeyman is a teaching tool for
young children and that he is a factor there to punish or steal children when they are not following
the specific rules they have to be following. He is a shapeless factor so that means he could be
anywhere at anytime so typically parents use the closet or say donВґt check under the bed .The
Boogeyman hides in the closet and the reason why parents say that the Boogeyman comes out
the closet is because typically at the age of 2 6 kids have a fear towards the dark and that is
when the closet also becomes a factor that parents use to make sure that their son or daughter
follow the rules they have to follow or do what they are told to do.Now in King s short story he used

characterized by the incestuous behavior of its member. Multiple generations of Ptolemies married
their own siblings or other close family member. Incest was taboo among the Greeks, and despite
the Ptolemies descending from the Greco Macedonian general and king, Ptolemy, they still
practiced incest. Many believe this practiced to have started in an effort to appeal to the Egyptian
people and to keep the power within the family. With the practice of incest, many genetic disorders
can be present in the offspring of incestuous relationships. Some of the health issues that rulers, like

Debt To Credit Ratio Essay
The debt to credit ratio is the calculation of how much you are using the credit that is available to
you. It is an indication of how heavily your finances lean on credit. This ratio accounts for 30% of
your credit score. It is next to your payment history, which is 35%. An understanding of this ratio
can help you improve your FICO score.
Your debt to credit ratio is calculated as follows:
Debt used divided by available credit multiplied by hundred = Debt to credit ratio
For example a debt of $2,000 on a credit card of $4,000 limit = 50%
$3,000 on the same card account gives a ratio of 75%.
Your overall debt to credit ratio is calculated by dividing the total of amount debt by the total of
your credit limits. It is also done for each separate

West African Culture Research Paper
Having origins in slave trade of the Muslim Empire that conquered North Africa, are the Gnawa
people. Located in Morocco, the Gnawa are an ethnic group that is a product of their ancestors that
have come before them. Their culture is a hyprid of their West African heritage, North African
surroundings, and Islamic faith. Their spritualism and animism has its roots in West African
traditional religions. Another use of the tern Gnawa refers to the people of Moroccothat participate
in the musical and ritual tradition of the lila. This nighty ritual celebrates God, his Prophet
Muhammed, Sub Saharan Africaand many other invisible entities. This complex liturgy is an all
night ceremony that mixes music with colorful costumes, acrobatic dances and incense. Music and
dance are ubiquitous of the lila, meaning light , with songs that comprise of a rich repitoire of
ancient Afro Islamic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ceremony is intended to affect participants both indivually and collectively in order to allow
them to enter an ecstatic or trance state and in the process negotiate a symbiotic relationship with
their personal melk, a powerful spiritual entity. During the last few decades, Gnawa music has
been modernizing and thus becoming more popular. Gnawa music first entered the Moroccon
consiousness outside of the ritual sphere in the 1960s when popular folk music groups borrowed
from the repitoire of the Gnawa lila. In the following decades, Gnawa melodies reached the shores
of the Atlantic in newly composed from visits from the likes of Randy Weston and Jimi Hendrix.
Since the Gnawa World Music Festival first began in 1998, popularity, commercialization, and also
secularization of the repitoire have been achieved. The desecration of the sacred Gnawa ritual has
resulted in the creation of a version of Gnawa music made for festival performances that differ in
instruments, performance practices, and sequencing of

Spirit Of Offense
Do you walk in the spirit of offense?
The truth is, all of us at one time or another, have either been offended or offended someone.
And the good news is, we all have the opportunity to SHIELD UP!
How Do I know if I have the spirit of offense?
Before we get into what it means to Shield Up, let s first identify if we have the spirit of offense.
Even though we are told in James 1:19 to be slow to take offense, we have seen relationships
destroyed and people leave their church family over the spirit of offense. (Block Quote)
Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow
to speak, slow to take offense and to get angry. ~ James 1:19 (AMPC)
So how can we tell if we walk in the spirit of offense? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Submission is meant for every believer. As Godexpects us to submit to Him, to each other, to our
spouses, employers, and our government!
Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient,
always ready to do what is good. ~ Titus 3:1(NLT)
The slippery slope here is that without submission, we can almost guarantee that we will walk in
the spirit of offense.
That s because to be discipled is to be mentored. To be mentored is to be held accountable.
However, you cannot be discipled without being teachable. You cannot be mentored without
yielding to submission. And you cannot receive accountability without humility.
In other words, when you walk in humility you will avoid walking in the spirit of offense!

When you walk in humility you avoid walking in the spirit of offense! #ShieldUp
Hurting the Already Wounded
Sometimes we are quick to walk in the spirit of offense when we re already hurt. This is why it s
so important to get to the root of our wounds.
But, what happens when you offend someone who hasn t dealt with the root of their

Kanye West The Antihero Analysis
What is happening to Kanye West? At this point, it s anyone s guess.
Everything that can be said has been said about the Chicago rapper s abnormal behavior and
illogical ramblings over the past month, which currently range from West espousing on dragon
energy to claiming that African Americans in the 1800 s chose to be enslaved. It s safe to say these
accounts do not dissuade the infamous image that West s constructed since his musical debut in the
early 2000 s, though for many, his statements as of late have damaged their view of the artist
beyond repair.
While Kanye is certainly no stranger to criticism, the newest wave of public disapproval feels
different. Media outlets and fans alike are hesitant to fully embrace the rapper s trademark ... Show

In light of his previous antics, many theorized that Kanye s career would be remembered more for
his troubled persona than his characteristic talents in many ways, that fear became a reality.
Arguably, the reason my parents know Kanye West exists is not due to his creative output I m
positive my dad could not name a single song from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy but
because he s a controversial figure and married to Kim Kardashian. The image that instantly comes
to mind when West s name enters the conversation is not of the soul sampling producer, but the
rambunctious tabloid icon. In the eyes of some fans, these ramblings coupled with Kanye s
endorsement of President Trump deprive the musician of any credibility and call his entire
discography into question.
After all that s happened, should Kanye West still be considered a genius? I believe the better
question to ask is, was Kanye West ever a genius in the first place?
If one were to go about answering this inquiry simply based solely on his achievements, the
answer should be an overwhelming yes. The artist s approach to music shaped an entire generation
and forever changed the way the medium is marketed, sold, and digested. Music will forever be
indebted to Kanye

Night Vale Monologue
The gravel crunches under my feet as I wander down the length of our driveway towards the
empty county road. I fiddle with my headphones and my blue, rubbery armband holding my iPod;
my podcast isn t coming through clearly. I fix my right earphone in time to hear Cecil drawl out
Welcome to Night Vale, and I smile honestly for the first time all day. I have an unorthodox
relationship with running. As a child, I swore I would never run, that I loathed even the mere idea
of running for fun. But now, I find it an escape, a paradise where I can truly be who I am, with no
exceptions.. I have a different relationship with Welcome to Night Vale, the fictional podcast about
a small desert community with dragons running for mayor and Community Calendar... Show more

The run over pedestrian sign makes much more sense, I articulate out loud, although I know
perfectly well there is no one to hear me; I also know that I would receive peculiar looks for that
quirky statement. I don t care. I am alone and I am myself. I turn back towards home, the rapidly
disappearing sun to my right hand side now. I run a bit faster, my giggles and thoughts of
hypnotic city equipment spurring me on. My stride bounces a bit as I run on the lopsided county
road. Lopsided. I think. My sense of humor is lopsided like the road, my sense of happiness, a bit
bizarre, but I feel completely at home no matter what the out side view of me is. I turn my thoughts
back to the podcast; Dana the Intern is speaking now:
I remember diagonals of sunlight in the late afternoon, drawn across its flat expanse, transversed by
my grandfather s hand as he swept it through whatever story he was telling, to highlight the words
with motion, to motion us closer to the words. I visualize he grandfather, a wrinkled, elderly man
with tanned skin, telling stories to his grandchildren. I reminisce on my grandfather; long gone for
some time now, whom was kind and encouraged my spunk.
I slow to a walk. I am a stone s throw from my home; I can feel the responsibilities calling me

  • 2. Psychological Ethical Egoism When it comes to life every person main is goal is to make themselves as happy as possible in any choice that they make. Students that attend college want to have fun at school and get a degree that benefits them. A degree might cost a lot of money but the benefits of being happy with a good job in the future is greater than the cost. Every person has one life to live why not make the best of it by focusing only on your own happiness. Ethical Egoismis a theory that each person should pursue his or her own self interest exclusively. Ethical Egoismand Psychological Egoism sometimes get confused with each other but they both have different meanings. Ethical Egoism states that people ought to pursue his or her own self interest exclusively. While Psychological Egoism states that people do in fact pursue his or her own self interest exclusively. An example of Ethical Egoism would be that a man should take his friend girlfriend from him because he wants her and will make him the happiest man on earth. An example of Psychological Egoism would be a person saving a child from drowning, so that he or she could be a hero and not look like an evil... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A problem with that argument is that if it makes the society better than it goes against what Ethical Egoism stands for. The philosopher Ayn Rand believe that altruism will cause a person to sacrifice they life to make someone else happy; thus only Ethical Egoism values a person s life. The issue with what Rand believe in is that there s people less fortunate than others that should be help by other people; therefore, it should be a balance between altruism and Ethical Egoism. Time Difference of Arrival: TDOA examines the difference in time at which the signal arrives at different measuring units as opposed to the absolute arrival time in TOA to determine the relative position of the object. For each measurement, the transmitter must lie in a hyperboloid with a constant range difference between the two measuring units. The equation of the hyperboloid is as follows {insert equation} {insert diagram} where {} and {} represent the measuring units i and j and (x,y,z) represents the coordinates of the target[3][A survey] The target can be located in the 2D plane from the intersection of two or more TDOA measurements. Two hyperbolas are formed from TDOA measurements at three measuring units (A,B and C) to provide the intersection point P. s The above two methods described require a Line of Sight channel between the transmitter and the reciever which might not always be available. In such a scenario, radio propogation and time of arrival signals suffer from multipath effect. Therefore the accuracy of the estimated location can be affected.Another approach is to use the attenuation suffered by the emitted signal to determine the distance of the object from the measuring unit. These methods calculate the signal path loss from ... Complementary And Alternative Pain Reduction Complementary and Alternative Pain Reduction Methods in Healthcare Grace Kavanah The University of Maine Complementary and Alternative Pain Reduction Methods in Healthcare Pain is the most commonly reported reason for coming to the hospital in America. It s causes have a massive variance, and in many chronic cases the root source of pain can not be articulated at all. When a patient reports pain, the role of the nurse, and the whole healthcare staff, is to aim to reduce that pain. In many cases pain reduction can be attained through nonpharmacologic, complementary and alternative methods (CAM). Using CAM to reduce pain is an ideal scenario for both the patient and the healthcare staff as these alternative methods have fewer negative consequential effects. The following analysis will observe various methods of CAM pain reduction, highlighting two major CAM therapies of interest: music therapy, animal therapy. In addition, the following analysis will discuss how different demographics react to such therapies, with gender, age, ethnicity, and education level playing a role in relation to a patient s willingness to be open to CAM. Lastly this analysis will discuss the drawbacks of CAM therapies in the medical community today, emphasising a lack of discussion between provider and patient, and the general lack of clinical education surrounding CAM therapies within the medical community. To support this idea I interviewed an educator and she explained how education can be very important. She stated, Having little education limits people s choices. They may not be able to enter a profession or trade they would like to (Kummerow). This exemplifies the idea that more opportunities are open for people that get more education. Rake Receiver Method Of Multipath Fading Reduction RAKE RECEIVER METHOD OF MULTIPATH FADING REDUCTION S.D Dayo1, K.O Egbo2, 1Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho. 2 Department of Physics, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State ABSTRACT Wireless communications is, by any measure, the fastest growing segment of the communications industry. It has captured the attention of the media and the imagination of the public. However, the fundamental phenomenon which makes transmission unreliable is time varying fading. The phenomenon is described as the constructive/destructive interference between signals arriving at the same antenna via different paths, and hence with different delays and phases, resulting in random fluctuations of the signal level at the receiver. This paper investigates Rake receiver method of combating fading. The rake receiver uses a combination of correlators to separately detect M strongest multipath components, code generators, and delays, or fingers , to spread out the individual echo signals of the multipath. Each signal is then delayed according to peaks found in the received signal. The rake receiver uses several sub receivers each delayed slightly in order to tune in to the individual multipath components. Each component is decoded independently, but at a later stage combined using delay compensate combiner and MRC dispreading in order to make the most use of the different transmission characteristics of each ... • 11. Analysis Of The Movie The Graduate Essay Edward Brambila English 2 Prof. Sosner 12/16/2016 The Art of Symbolism in The Graduate The movie The Graduate is a struggle story of a fine caliber that falls under the genre of comedic drama. Some might even argue that it was one of the best films of its time and even till this day. The way the movie blends characters is anything but superficial and its use of symbolism to describe said characters leaves little more to be desired. While some may not like the movie and say it falls short the movie has proper use of symbolism through the use of multiple props, it also uses symbolic statements as a way to strengthen Dustin Hoffman s character s archetype and clue in on specific details which in turn shows us the relationships between him and other characters. Of the many symbolic details the first two we encounter at the very beginning of the film are cluing us in on the character of Dustin Hoffman who is known as Benjamin Braddock. The two details happen almost simultaneously, one being the song The Sound of Silence by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel and the other is the symbolic action of him sliding across the screen on an airport conveyor belt. The first detail, the song, suggests that the character Benjamin or Ben is lost in the world. He has no idea where to go from this point in his life forward. He is lost in the darkness of life and is directionless. The second detail is the conveyor belt which forcibly moving him along. This conveys the fact that throughout ... This observation was consented by Claire s mother. Claire Marcus is a seven year old, female. She enjoys playing sports, having play dates with her friends, and excelling in school. At age seven, children are going through large stages of development physically, cognitively, socially, and spiritually. By observing Claire Marcus, I was able to get a better understanding of these stages of development, and I was able to see her interact with those around her. It gave me the opportunity to see the different stages of development that I have read about in Santrock s book, Essentials of Life Span Development. As stated by Santrock, children at this age are continually growing. In this stage of life, children grow an average of two to three inches each year (Santrock 2014, pg. 191). In the last year Claire grew several inches, and is no longer the shortest girl in her class. She had to get all new clothes and shoes because she quickly out grew her old ones. Amusement parks keep building faster and more complex roller coasters, but the fundamental principles at work remain the same. A roller coaster is like train. It consists of a series of connected cars that move on tracks. But unlike a passenger train, a roller coaster has no engine or power source of its own. For most of the ride, a roller coaster is moved only by the forces of inertia and gravity. If the track tilts up, gravity applies a downward force on the back of the coaster, so it decelerates. The track begins with a steep climp, building up potential energy in the coaster car. The rest of the track s hills, valleys, twists and turns are to change the built up energy back and forth between potential energy and kinetic energy. As the train moves, it gradually loses energy to friction until it reaches the end of the ride. There are two major types of roller coasters, which are defined by what their tracks are made out of: wooden and tubular steel. The tracks of wooden roller coasters are a little like traditional railroad tracks. The metal wheels of the cars roll on a flat metal strip, about 4 to 6 inches across. This strip is bolted to a running track made out of laminated wood. In most coasters, the car wheels have the same flanged design as the wheels of a train (the inner part of the wheel has a wide lip that keeps the car from rolling off the side of the track). The car also has another set of wheels that runs underneath the track. This keeps the cars from flying up into the air. Wooden coaster tracks are braced by wooden crossties and diagonal support beams. • 19. Marketing Plan For An Exclusive Market Essay A marketing plan is not a list of marketing ideas from which you haphazardly choose various concepts to test or combine for trial and error experimentation. A plan is an essential business tool for hospitals, medical groups or provider practices to attract patients and consumers. Marketing in health care has shifted directly to consumers and patients. As discussed by Thomas, R. K. (2015), marketing uses a mix to of variables to influence users of an exclusive market. Marketing health care services are about how you position the organization to satisfy the needs of the market. Four critical elements of marketing that businesses should take into consideration when implementing any strategic plan for healthcare services are: Product. The right product to satisfy the needs of your target customer. Price. The right product offered at the right price. Place. The right product at the right price available in the right place to be bought by customers. Promotion. His argument is perceptible in many civilizations developments such as Aksum s. Located in northern Ethiopia and Eritrea, Aksum was one of the first developed African civilizations; indeed, the kingdom experienced a period of rising towards the first century. • 23. Ancient Stories Of The Sumerians The Sumerians Although, we widely attribute the ancient stories of the Sumerians to pure mythology, they went to great lengths to understand and create a way to record their history, society structure, and development; just as we do for historical events today. The most accepted view on what makes a culture civilized or having obtained civilization is a culture which has attained a degree of complexity, usually characterized by urban life (Guisepi). As far as the Sumerian culture is concerned, they created our foundation for what we consider today, as the standards for civilization. Even though human exploration and discoveries continue to uncover previously unknown chapters of our story here on earth, the extensive amount of archeological evidence we have for the Sumerians and time frame, allow us to accredit them for over 100 firsts for the human civilization from their ingenuities, accomplishments, and inventions. However, who is to say what is necessarily right and wrong? Values and morality can have different meanings, especially if placed in the context of a distorted materialistic society. In Cannery Row, John Steinbeckreminds people about this important theme and how it applies on a bigger scale. The setting of the story is Cannery Row, located in Monterey, California. Steinbeck s choice of setting is significant in that it fully captures the breadth of humanity. On the one hand, it is an area that represents the thriving sardine industry. On the other, it is also an area where the lower classes, including bums and whores could live. In actuality, the story is not really about the sardine industry at all, but is rather a collection of short stories that are all unified about the same theme, the quality and meaning of life. The main plot of this novel is centered on Doc, a marine biologist. It begins when Mack and the boys, Lee Chong, and Dora throw a surprise party for him to show their appreciation and great reverence towards him. By writing about the warm relationships between Doc and the inhabitants of Cannery Row, Steinbeck uses these short stories as his way of talking about life on a bigger scale. At the honor roll ceremony, I noticed that almost all of the students, junior and senior high, were all recognized. In addition, 0% of students, in the junior high, were ineligible in the past nine weeks. Since our school is already surpassing the requirements made, why not raise them? It s becoming too easy to be eligible, with the obviously intelligent students we have here at Little River schools. • 30. John Winthrop Contributions My paper will be on John Winthrop who I chose because of the impact he made on America as we know it today and because of his Christian background and influence. I was initially interested in him because he was one of the major players from Europe who caused this nation to be founded under God, if you will, and is clearly an influential man in American history. Now that I have read more about him I realize he played an even larger role than I imagined. John Winthrop left all that he knew to go spread the gospel and create a city on a hill to shape a nation and despite all the hardships he faced, he never abandoned his efforts or ideals and that is a man I would love to talk to and learn from. John Winthrop is a significant figure in American history because he, along with a few others, laid the foundation for America as we know it today and put in place many of the ideals and principles that we still base our government and lives on in the present. Winthrop was with the group who were the first to govern a colony from within the colony, helped introduce and influence the people to adopt a government in which the people ruled and elected those making the laws and ruling over them, introduced the idea of separation of Church and State, helped establish a program of public and private education and a grammar school in Bostonas early as 1635. Some people even call John Winthrop the Father of New England and America s Forgotten Founding Father. If I could actually come face to face with John Winthrop, one of the questions I would ask him is Why he would move to America to start the Massachusetts Bay Colony when he was doing well where he lived in England and knew the great risks of going? To this question, I believe that Winthrop s initial and main reason would be that it was God s plan and purpose for him in order to spread the gospel into those parts of the world and become an example, a city on a hill, for the rest of the world. I believe he would answer this way because of the things he writes in a Model of Christian Charity and because he had come upon some hardships in England around this time that he said he believed were God s way of preparing him to be willing and open to ... Louis Braille Knowledge is what makes humans, well, human. We seek out knowledge like a flower reaches for the sunlight, or like an animals searches for shelter from rain. It is in our nature to constantly want more knowledge. We drink it up like water. For the entirety of human existence, however, there were those whose thirsty brains were denied the drink of knowledge. These people were the poor, the enslaved, the unworthy , and the handicapped. Louis Braille challenged this status quo when he invented Braille, a brilliant system of dots that enabled blind people to read and write. Although he faced many challenges in his life, Louis Braille revolutionized the way blind people learn and participate in society with his invention. Louis Braille was born to Simon Rene and Monique Braille on January 4, 1809 in a small French village 25 miles east of Paris called Coupvray. His father was a harness maker and when Louis was three, he injured his eye while trying to cut a piece of leather with one of his father s tools. His right eye became infected and it quickly spread to his other eye. By the time he was five Louis was completely blind. Anthropogenic Noise Pollution And Its Effects On Cetaceans Anthropogenic Noise Pollution and Its Effects on Cetaceans Cetaceans use sound extensively in both communication, hunting, and navigation. However as humanity continues to make use of the ocean we are constantly filling it with equipment that produces high amounts of sound. These devices are starting to have an impact on cetaceans worldwide, from mass strandings often linked to military exercises to area denials caused by busy commercial shipping lanes and seismic surveys. If consideration is not taken towards this problem now it could develop into something that could have degrading effects on cetacean populations in the future. Sound waves are nothing more than an energy transfer through a medium be it through a liquid, solid, or a gas. Sound pressure or intensity is measured on logarithmic scale in decibels dB which increases on an order of magnitude. For instance a quiet conversation would be around 30 dB and whereas the human pain threshold would be just over 100 dB. While the pitch or frequency of the sound is measured in hertz or Hz, the higher the hertz the higher the pitch of the sound and vice versa (Hildebrand, 2004). Anthropologic noise pollution can come from many different sources, some of the more common ones are commercial shipping, acoustic deterrent devices, military sonar, and explosives (used in some seismic surveys for oil and gas as well as military exercises). During the last few decades, Gnawa music has been modernizing and thus becoming more popular. Gnawa music first entered the Moroccon consiousness outside of the ritual sphere in the 1960s when popular folk music groups borrowed from the repitoire of the Gnawa lila. In the following decades, Gnawa melodies reached the shores of the Atlantic in newly composed from visits from the likes of Randy Weston and Jimi Hendrix. Since the Gnawa World Music Festival first began in 1998, popularity, commercialization, and also secularization of the repitoire have been achieved. • 43. Spirit Of Offense Do you walk in the spirit of offense? The truth is, all of us at one time or another, have either been offended or offended someone. And the good news is, we all have the opportunity to SHIELD UP! How Do I know if I have the spirit of offense? Before we get into what it means to Shield Up, let s first identify if we have the spirit of offense. Even though we are told in James 1:19 to be slow to take offense, we have seen relationships destroyed and people leave their church family over the spirit of offense. (Block Quote) Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow to speak, slow to take offense and to get angry. ~ James 1:19 (AMPC) So how can we tell if we walk in the spirit of offense? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Submission is meant for every believer. As Godexpects us to submit to Him, to each other, to our spouses, employers, and our government! Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient, always ready to do what is good. ~ Titus 3:1(NLT) The slippery slope here is that without submission, we can almost guarantee that we will walk in the spirit of offense. That s because to be discipled is to be mentored. To be mentored is to be held accountable. However, you cannot be discipled without being teachable. You cannot be mentored without yielding to submission. And you cannot receive accountability without humility. In other words, when you walk in humility you will avoid walking in the spirit of offense! (Tweet) When you walk in humility you avoid walking in the spirit of offense! #ShieldUp Hurting the Already Wounded Sometimes we are quick to walk in the spirit of offense when we re already hurt. This is why it s so important to get to the root of our wounds. But, what happens when you offend someone who hasn t dealt with the root of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Kanye West The Antihero Analysis What is happening to Kanye West? At this point, it s anyone s guess. Everything that can be said has been said about the Chicago rapper s abnormal behavior and illogical ramblings over the past month, which currently range from West espousing on dragon energy to claiming that African Americans in the 1800 s chose to be enslaved. It s safe to say these accounts do not dissuade the infamous image that West s constructed since his musical debut in the early 2000 s, though for many, his statements as of late have damaged their view of the artist beyond repair. While Kanye is certainly no stranger to criticism, the newest wave of public disapproval feels different. Media outlets and fans alike are hesitant to fully embrace the rapper s trademark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In light of his previous antics, many theorized that Kanye s career would be remembered more for his troubled persona than his characteristic talents in many ways, that fear became a reality. Arguably, the reason my parents know Kanye West exists is not due to his creative output I m positive my dad could not name a single song from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy but because he s a controversial figure and married to Kim Kardashian. The image that instantly comes to mind when West s name enters the conversation is not of the soul sampling producer, but the rambunctious tabloid icon. In the eyes of some fans, these ramblings coupled with Kanye s endorsement of President Trump deprive the musician of any credibility and call his entire discography into question. After all that s happened, should Kanye West still be considered a genius? I believe the better question to ask is, was Kanye West ever a genius in the first place? If one were to go about answering this inquiry simply based solely on his achievements, the answer should be an overwhelming yes. The artist s approach to music shaped an entire generation and forever changed the way the medium is marketed, sold, and digested. Music will forever be indebted to Kanye ... • 45. Night Vale Monologue The gravel crunches under my feet as I wander down the length of our driveway towards the empty county road. I fiddle with my headphones and my blue, rubbery armband holding my iPod; my podcast isn t coming through clearly. I fix my right earphone in time to hear Cecil drawl out Welcome to Night Vale, and I smile honestly for the first time all day. I have an unorthodox relationship with running. As a child, I swore I would never run, that I loathed even the mere idea of running for fun. But now, I find it an escape, a paradise where I can truly be who I am, with no exceptions.. I have a different relationship with Welcome to Night Vale, the fictional podcast about a small desert community with dragons running for mayor and Community Calendar... The run over pedestrian sign makes much more sense, I articulate out loud, although I know perfectly well there is no one to hear me; I also know that I would receive peculiar looks for that quirky statement. I don t care. I am alone and I am myself. I turn back towards home, the rapidly disappearing sun to my right hand side now. I run a bit faster, my giggles and thoughts of hypnotic city equipment spurring me on. My stride bounces a bit as I run on the lopsided county road. Lopsided. I think. My sense of humor is lopsided like the road, my sense of happiness, a bit bizarre, but I feel completely at home no matter what the out side view of me is. I turn my thoughts back to the podcast; Dana the Intern is speaking now: I remember diagonals of sunlight in the late afternoon, drawn across its flat expanse, transversed by my grandfather s hand as he swept it through whatever story he was telling, to highlight the words with motion, to motion us closer to the words. I visualize he grandfather, a wrinkled, elderly man with tanned skin, telling stories to his grandchildren. I reminisce on my grandfather; long gone for some time now, whom was kind and encouraged my spunk. I slow to a walk. I am a stone s throw from my home; I can feel the responsibilities calling me ...
