I. INTRODUCTION
This report will consist of 2 projects, the first one is to construct a network diagram while the
second task is about organizing satisfactory services for a wedding event. The epitome of the first
task is to create activities list that need to be addressed by a company called City Gourmet
Singapore in order to fulfil the contract of supplying and delivering 10,000 meals to poor and
needy families which starts with network diagram to calculate the duration activities and
followed by earliest calculation date.
Meanwhile, the task 2 is about the detailed activities plan along with the processes that required
to facilitate and organize the wedding event to ensure that the event will run punctually and
within budget. These activities will also include the thorough description of budget requirements,
wedding milestones, stakeholders, technical requirements, risk that assessment and
communication plan with the examination of the client’s feedback.
The clients are Stacy and John whose wedding preference is Traditional Chinese Wedding and
aim to have Wedding Dinner at Marina Bay Sands on Valentine’s Day, 2016. They have requested
these wedding preferences to the wedding planner company to assist their big day. The success
of this event might provoke and encourage the bride and groom toward promoting the wedding
planner company to other couples to help them organize their happiest moment.
II. TASK 1
2.1 PROJECT NETWORK DIAGRAM
5
2.2 Determination of Timing of Activities and Total Float
 The activities duration is determined by computation techniques called Forward Pass &
Backward Pass. Forward Pass adds activity times along each task from left to right in the
network and carry the EF(Early Finish) to next activity to become ES(Early Start)  [ES +D
= EF]
 Meanwhile, Backward Pass subtracts the activity times from right to left and carry the
LS(Late Start) to next activity in which will become LF(Late Finish)  [LF-D = LS]
 Float is the availability of delayed days without effecting the project completion time.
Float is determined by subtracting LS and ES or LF-EF  [LS-ES=LF-EF] while Total Float is
derived by listing down all the float values in whole activities. Total Floats in this network
diagram are :
A=0 ; B=2 ; C=4 ; D=0 ; E=44 ; F=0 ; G=0 ; H=0 ; I=0 ; J=1 ; K=0 ; L=0 ; M=0 ; N=0 ; 0=37 ; P=0
; Q=0 ; R=0 ; S=0
2.3 Determine The Project Duration and Critical Path
 The Project Duration is the completion date which formed by adding all critical path’s
activities duration.
 Critical path is an activity without spare time and occurred if the floats / slacks have zero
float [LF-EF=ES-ES] . The Critical Paths in this network activity are A, D , G , H , I , K , L , M ,
N , P , Q , R , S
6
2.4 Earliest Calculation Date
 If the project starts on June 1st
with using 5 working days include national holidays, the
project then will be finished on August 17th
. National Holidays are happened on June 1st
(Vesak Day) and will happen on July 17th
(Hari Raya Puasa), August 9th
and 10th
(Singapore’s Jubilee Year).

2.5 Effects of Late Start of Project
 Activity B is delayed 1 day – No Effect. Because there is 2 days float in activity B, therefore,
1 day delay will not have any effects to the project duration
 Activity P is delayed 1 day – Effect. Because there is no float at all in activity P, so the
project will be delayed 1 day in which will finish on day 53
 Activity M is completed 2 days earlier – Effect. Because there is no float in activity M, thus,
the project will be completed 2 days early which will finish on day 48
7
2.6 Limitations of Network Diagram
1.Not actual duration - The activities duration in network diagram are merely time estimation in
which if there are problems in performing activities, the actual activities duration might probably
change from the estimated time
2.Diagram could be unmanageable – it is more arduous to manage and to estimate the time
completion of complex and bigger project since there will be plenty of linked activities and
dependency relationship
3.Not practical – If there is unexpected change during project execution or haven’t found the
desirable sequence of events, the diagram must have to be redrawn all over again which would
waste more time
4.Dependency on the previous project – The next activities are rely on the previous activities
whereas the previous activities should be done first in order to move to another activity ( if there
are problems in executing one activity , then the project will stuck at that activity due to linked
activity )
5.Timescales need to be realistic – The activities duration should be consulted first with the staff
wether the duration is applicable or not
8
III. TASK 2
3.1 Project Scope
3.1.1 Project Description
The project consists the detail process description of Stacy and John’s wedding dinner

The Traditional Chinese Wedding requires the groom’s family to give the bride’s family
with gifts before the wedding. There are two parts in the Betrothal ceremony, the first
part will occur two weeks before the wedding, whereas the groom will pay a visit to the
bride’s home with a basket of gifts. This gesture serves as an assurance that the groom
will honor his promise.
The requirement in that basket of gifts are (Soh 2012) :

bangle and earrings and this set is presented in a red box )
The second part is the bride’s turn to give something back to the groom or otherwise
known as “return gifts”. These return gifts will comprise 2 bottles of orange syrup and
everything else in that betrothal basket except dragon candles and jewelry in even
numbers as well (Soh 2012) .
.
13

Couple have to inform the desirable church at least one year before the wedding date and
3 months before the day of church wedding, the couple must register their marriage at
the Registry Of Marriage ( ROM ) which currently only acknowledge online applications via
its website , the license will come up after 21 days . Applying NRIC and Birth Certificate to
Wedding Official Minister of ROM are compulsory in Singapore (SAC - Weddings at THE
CATHEDRAL n.d.).
Moreover, In order to be prepared for marriage, the couple is required to attend the SAC’s
Marriage Preparation Course and the couple must complete at least 80% of sessions. All
preparations for the wedding will start after the application is processed and approved
(The couple also have to complete the application forms which are available at the
Welcome Centre (SAC - Weddings at THE CATHEDRAL n.d.).
At church, the bridesmaids and groomsmen will walk first in the aisle followed by the
bride and groom’s siblings. After that, the bride and groom’s family walk to the altar, then
14
the bride and groom will proceed behind their family to enter the church and walk to the
altar.
3.5.4 Tea Ceremony
This ceremony is compulsory in Traditional Chinese Wedding whereas the bride and
groom will be formally introduced to everyone and their families. There are several
requirements to do this ceremony (Soh 2012):

o Longans and red dates brewed tea
o The bride and groom return to groom’s family home after church and they
will serve the groom’s family a tea to pay respect and his family will
acknowledge the bride’s place and grant them a blessing.
o The bride will change into traditional Chinese wedding dress which called as
“kua” before they come to bride’s home for another tea ceremony.
3.5.5 The Wedding Banquet
a) The wedding banquet will be held on Marina Bay Sands ( Main Ballroom ) ,
therefore , all the crews of wedding planner agency should stand by at least 3
hours before the wedding banquet time.
b) 100 tables must be checked and reckoned
c) 10 course of set menu must be ready at least 1 hour before the banquet time
d) Wheelchair accessible amenities (ramps, bathrooms)
15
e) The time gap of the menu set within appetizer to main course and main course to
dessert should be within 8-12 minutes, so the guest don’t have to wait for quite
long
f) Parking lot capacity must be able to contain 80% of guaranteed number of guests
g) The food service’s PIC ( Person In Charge ) have to take responsible if there’s any
problem with the food quantities or problems occurred with the food menu
h) Wedding gifts will be given to the guests when they already sign the guest book

 Ceiling height must meet public building standard of 6.34 ft
 Each tables’ diameter must reach 5ft6 to accommodate 10 people
 From total table diameter and space measurement, approximate total
guest will be around 1000 guests ( 10 x 100 tables ) (Space Requirement
n.d.).

16
3.6 Limits and Exclusions
 The wedding venue is not confirmed yet / fully-booked
 Some of the invitations are not sent to the guest
 Some of the guests couldn’t come which might waste the food and wedding favors (since
the food already set for 100 tables and wedding favors already set for 1000 guests)
 The wedding gown is far from expectation yet don’t have sufficient time to redesign again
 Wedding timeline disorganized due to traffic jam
 Over budget due to unexpected additional expenses
 The hairstyling artist and make-up artist suddenly get sick on the actual day

3.8 Stakeholders
3.9 Customer Overview
Once the wedding day is done completely, it will be essential to retrieve the client’s feedback to
perceive their opinion about the wedding wether the wedding is as their expectation or vice
versa. The positive or negative comments that we receive could prompt our eagerness to steer
our company toward success and enhance our services to become better. We will examine the
client’s testimonials based on these factors:
 Ideas and decoration
 Affordable budget
 Friendly staff
 Management and responsibility
20
3.10 Communication Plan
Generating an effective communication about all information reports with the progress to
stakeholders and maintaining the stable communication between vendors and marriage couple
are they key to initiate a successful wedding event. By arranging monthly meetings with the
bride, groom and vendors would ultimately be a beneficial tool to give the latest updates about
the wedding progress. The information (phone, fax, email) of the person in charge will also be
issued to bride and groom to allow them to query any concerns that might occur. Below is the
communication table that outlines the channels of communication that will be exerted during the
project.
21
3.11 Project Priority Risk
The principal key to anticipate with risk probability is by setting the priority of risk probability
around project’s scope, cost and schedule and how to prevent it in order to meet the
stakeholder’s expectation. The major risk probability for this wedding is the cost since both bride
and groom are not determining their budget from the beginning yet they are depending on our
company to set the budget, therefore, we should pay more attention to the cost. Another criteria
is the performance which includes venue decoration, entertainment, flowers, etc. and hence, we
will enhance the quality of performance. The success of this event would be advantageous for our
company as there will be many people come and work with us to organize their dream wedding.

IV. CONCLUSION
This report is generally covers the overall plan activities for task 1 and task 2 whereas the first
task is to create activities list that need to be proceed by City Gourmet Singapore in order to fulfil
the contract of supplying and delivering 10,000 meals to poor and needy families. On the other
side, task 2 is to organize traditional Chinese wedding plan activities for Stacy and John which will
be held on Valentine’s day 2016 at Marina Bay Sands.
The purpose of this Managing Project’s assignment report is to enable students to acknowledge
and implement their studies of project management lesson into case studies in which they could
be able to relate the lesson toward the circumstances of cases outlined and exemplify the role of
being Project Manager by demonstrating the essential skills of Project Manager along with the
project management process.
Based on task 1 network diagram, the activities duration is 52 days which is determined by
forward pass and backward pass technique with the completion date on August 17th
(the project
starts on June 1st
and the date calculation includes all national holidays in Singapore).
Furthermore in the task 2, budget required for Stacy and John’s wedding plan is S$ 248.485
(inclusive of 7% GST and 10% Service Charge) . Nonetheless, there are wedding requirements that
need to be completed before the wedding day such as ROM and risk possibilities that might
occur.
From this subject, I could derive more knowledge and comprehension of generating a project
plan with a role of being Project Manager as well as organizing the process itself . Additionally,
these new knowledge could be exerted and utilized toward upcoming projects and future career
opportunities.

21 3.11 Project PriorityRisk The principal key to anticipate with risk probability is by setting the priority of risk probability around project’s scope, cost and schedule and how to prevent it in order to meet the stakeholder’s expectation. The major risk probability for this wedding is the cost since both bride and groom are not determining their budget from the beginning yet they are depending on our company to set the budget, therefore, we should pay more attention to the cost. Another criteria is the performance which includes venue decoration, entertainment, flowers, etc. and hence, we will enhance the quality of performance. The success of this event would be advantageous for our company as there will be many people come and work with us to organize their dream wedding.
