The document discusses aligning organizational culture with community management. It defines culture as the values that are truly valued within an organization, as shown through words, actions, thoughts and other aspects of the workplace. A strong culture aligns what is valued with what drives success. The document prompts reflection on the culture of one's own organization and community. It suggests that an organization's culture could affect how one approaches community management strategies, content and engagement. Community managers connect online communities to organizations as human systems to structured systems. Leading and managing in social organizations requires different approaches and increased sensitivity to emerging issues.
Building Social Capital to Enhance Collaboration4Good.org
Typically when people think about social capital, it is associations, networks and relationships that result in a gain. I believe that organizations tend to build partners with those who are similar (bonding social capital) instead of bridging, another form of social capital with those who are different. In this workshop, participants will learn more about social capital and how to leverage networks that can increase program partners and potential funders.

The Problem:
September 11, 2001 proved the High-rise rescue operational inadequacies of municipally based fire/rescue services. It is imperative that this problem is quickly addressed using both existing and proposed technologies and methods.
A Solution:
IN-S.E.R.T. is a dedicated emergency response unit operated as an extension of The United States Coast Guard (USCG) F.E.M.A. and existing fire/rescue departments in any major city. Team members will have at their disposal a range of fire/rescue and fire suppression technologies designed to facilitate High-rise rescue operations. The potential flexibility of IN-S.E.R.T makes it a template for a broad spectrum of emergency responses not limited to High-rise rescue. Therefore, it has value beyond that immediately observable.
Technology, Equipment, Methods:
Specially trained personnel will benefit from the decades old expertise of the acclaimed “Smoke Jumpers” of the Western/Pacific Northwestern United States and Red Adair’s legendary pyro-containment methodologies. Additionally, they will benefit from newly developed Victim Extraction At Altitude (VEAA)techniques.

What is company culture? Great question. While wikipedia’s definition is a good place to start, we at Culture Labx thought we’d break it down to see if we could do better. In the process we couldn’t stop ourselves from creating something more sharable than just a blog post. And so, The Culture Code was born.

Community Marketing is not an event, it is not activation within a community, nor it is event organization done for communities. Community Marketing does not buy consumers, what it does is meet their needs in a conducive context best for the brand and consumers to interact and engage. Community Marketing is a combination of interaction, communication, nurturing, networking, collaboration, fusion and assimilation of vision. These processes are critical in the very beginning when we approach each community under a common ground. There are no shortcuts, no formula, and no one standard operating procedure that can apply to all. Most tend to think that it is about building friendship and let social media amplify engagement around that relationship. It is more than that if one is to immerse and build commonality via culture building and cultivation. Anthropology, sociology & cross cultural sciences are knowledge one must use to manage the dynamics of community marketing. Regardless of how big or small the scale of the project, the process of identification, interaction, nurturing and cultivation are all critical to the proper implementation of community marketing.
Culture is the unique dominant pattern of shared beliefs, assumptions, values, and norms that shape the socialization, symbols, language and practices of a group of people.
Talk given at UXNZ 2016, exploring key "edges" of practice we are exploring in co-design in Aotearoa. With thanks to all the community members and practitioner who shared their experiences in this talk.
Talk Abstract:
Across Aotearoa (New Zealand), co-design is rapidly being adopted in public and community contexts to tackle complex national issues and policies such as youth employment; smoking cessation; community health and wellbeing; homelessness
and family violence.
Many of these are large-scale, complex social change innovations and experiments that bring together new groups of people, which means working together in new ways. The opportunity to scale co-design to help address systemic national social challenges is both awesome and terrifying. This talk highlights some of the key trends, changes, opportunities and challenges emerging in co-design for social innovation and social outcomes in Aotearoa.
In 2014, the American Nurses Association started a cross-functional, collaborative project to define member engagement and identify better ways to provide member value. Learn from their successful process of creating minimum viable products (MVPs) to test new engagement ideas and see how to audit engagement touchpoints and identify gaps, how to measure success, and how to tie engagement back to the organization’s strategic goals.

Up the Ratios Bylaws - a Comprehensive Process of Our Organizationuptheratios
Up the Ratios is a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap in STEM education for underprivileged students by providing free, high-quality learning opportunities in robotics and other STEM fields. Our mission is to empower the next generation of innovators, thinkers, and problem-solvers by offering a range of educational programs that foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
At Up the Ratios, we believe that every student, regardless of their socio-economic background, should have access to the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in today's technology-driven world. To achieve this, we host a variety of free classes, workshops, summer camps, and live lectures tailored to students from underserved communities. Our programs are designed to be engaging and hands-on, allowing students to explore the exciting world of robotics and STEM through practical, real-world applications.
Our free classes cover fundamental concepts in robotics, coding, and engineering, providing students with a strong foundation in these critical areas. Through our interactive workshops, students can dive deeper into specific topics, working on projects that challenge them to apply what they've learned and think creatively. Our summer camps offer an immersive experience where students can collaborate on larger projects, develop their teamwork skills, and gain confidence in their abilities.
In addition to our local programs, Up the Ratios is committed to making a global impact. We take donations of new and gently used robotics parts, which we then distribute to students and educational institutions in other countries. These donations help ensure that young learners worldwide have the resources they need to explore and excel in STEM fields. By supporting education in this way, we aim to nurture a global community of future leaders and innovators.
Our live lectures feature guest speakers from various STEM disciplines, including engineers, scientists, and industry professionals who share their knowledge and experiences with our students. These lectures provide valuable insights into potential career paths and inspire students to pursue their passions in STEM.
Up the Ratios relies on the generosity of donors and volunteers to continue our work. Contributions of time, expertise, and financial support are crucial to sustaining our programs and expanding our reach. Whether you're an individual passionate about education, a professional in the STEM field, or a company looking to give back to the community, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.
We are proud of the positive impact we've had on the lives of countless students, many of whom have gone on to pursue higher education and careers in STEM. By providing these young minds with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed, we are not only changing their futures but also contributing to the advancement of technology and innovation on a broader scale.

connection point through which we connect an organic,
dynamic, human system (the online community) with a
structured, hierarchical, and impersonal machine (the
organization).
This is more evidence that becoming a social
organization requires more than adopting new
technology solutions. We have to lead and manage in
different ways, and we should all be increasing the
sensitivity of our radars internally–looking for the stress
or frustration that is emerging due to the new
demands of social business.
