1. Album advertisement analysis
Kasabian, Empire – 28th August 2006
This is the poster advertising Kasabians 2006 album
Empire. The advert was placed in many magazines
across the world but this one was taken from a copy of
NME Magazine.
The poster features a large image accompanied by
some small reviews and some album information. The
image on the poster is the image used as the album
cover for the album, which appears to be some sort of
medieval image made to look like the card from a deck
of cards. The image also has the band logo slapped
across it just to reiterate whose album it is. The album
title isn’t that noticeable on the advert but it is done
cleverly to be incorporated in to the design so that the
audience studies the poster rather than just glancing at
it.
The poster also features a few reviews from a few music magazines which all help
promote the band and the album. It is also worth noting that the music magazines
reviews that are featured on the poster all would be read by a similar audience to
the people who would buy the album, which I believe is an intentional move by the
band or their promoters.
The final thing to notice is the size of the poster in the magazine. The poster took up
a full page of the magazine and if every album that the magazine promoted were
this size there would be no room for content. This shows two things, one how big
and famous the band are as smaller bands would never get the same coverage and
two that the promoters of the album have pushed it very well in the magazines, so
that they can get the greatest coverage possible.
