WHY AIR SENTRY®
?
Air Sentry® breathers first set the gold standard with
their introduction in 1997. Achieving near total control
of fluid system contamination, Air Sentry has led the
industry by improving productivity, prolonging fluid life,
reducing maintenance costs and controlling expensive
downtime. The pace of a competitive
world absolutely requires this level
of performance.
Air Sentry® breathers are designed to replace the
breather cap or air filter on gear boxes, hydraulic fluid
reservoirs, bulk storage tanks, oil drums, oil-filled
transformers and other fluid reservoirs. Air
Sentry® desiccant breathers adsorb water from
the air before it enters your fluid system and
remove particulate contaminants as small as 2
micron. The silica gel changes color as it becomes
depleted, turning from gold to dark green. It’s easy to
identify the condition of a breather and quickly replace
it, maintaining the cleanliness of the fluid reservoir.
Two main threats to productivity: particulates and
moisture. Most machine wear-related failures are due
to particulate contaminants. As particles become
airborne, they can enter lubricant and fuel reservoirs
and then be transported to bearings, bushings, seals,
hydraulic valves, and other components. The contaminants
cause lubricant degradation, reducing the service life
of the lubricant.
With machine clearances measured in thousandths of
an inch, it doesn’t take much contamination to affect

5. bearings and other sensitive components. Even particles
of 10 micron or smaller can disrupt the lubricant film and
cause a great amount of wear.
Moisture is a continuous threat. Its presence in lubricants
and hydraulic fluids creates a host of problems including
rust, lubricant additive depletion, viscosity changes,
oxidation and sludge formation.

raw materials, tested to ensure a wide range
of chemical compatibilities, and features high

For applications with excessive oil fumes, use
the Z-Series breather with the VaporSentryTM
,
an oil coalescing adapter. VaporSentry’s design
utilizes a finned surface area to collect oil mist
from the gearbox, turn the mist into heavier
droplets and gravity drain them back to the
gearbox. This helps block oil from entering
the breather and interrupting the moisture
adsorbing properties of the silica gel.

X-Series Breathers are the perfect solution
for high humidity and high dust environments.
To extend the desiccant’s life, the X-Series
incorporates 2 check valves and a reusable
top cap. The check valves provide a closed
system until airflow is required, extending the
service life of the desiccant. Specifically,
the intake check valve allows airflow into the
breather only when differential pressure
between the atmosphere and fluid reservoir
exceeds a 0.3 psi threshold, while the exhaust
check valve permits air to exit the reservoir

Most heavy equipment — productive and on the
move — is outfitted with hydraulic fluid tanks or
reservoirs which breathe in the dirty outside air.

Air Sentry®
XR-Series breathers, originally
conceived for the wind power industry,
are designed to perform in any extreme
environment where protection from dust,
moisture and vibration are critical.
XR-Series breathers include a metal reinforced
base available with male NPT threads to adapt
to your equipment. The base is designed to

The top cap uses two check valves to prevent

L-SERIES
AIR SENTRY®
In-Line Filter/Dryers remove water
vapor and solid contaminants from air exhaust
lines, low pressure compressed air lines, vacuum
lines, and other in-line airflow applications where
clean, dry air is required.
The L-Series breathers are available with 100%
silica gel or activated carbon, or a combination of
both, as necessary.
Air enters the filter/dryer in one end and is clean
and dry when leaving the other end. Water vapor
and solid particles down to 2 micron are removed.
The L-Series is rated up to 60 psi and mounted

M-Series breathers are designed from heavy-
duty materials capable of handling the
requirements of the most severe environments.
They replace the standard breather cap or vent
tube on fuel tanks and fluid reservoirs. Pipe
threads on the bottom standpipe make the
units easy to install in moments.
All M-Series designs have 2 micron pleated
filters and silica gel bags that are easily
