Air and water pollution is the biggest problem of every nation, whether it is developed or developing.
Health problems have been growing at faster rate especially in urban areas of developing countries where industrialization and growing number of vehicles leads to release of lot of gaseous pollutants.
Harmful effects of pollution include mild allergic reactions such as irritation of the throat, eyes and nose as well as some serious problems like bronchitis, heart diseases, pneumonia, lung and aggravated asthma

PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION
• Air and water pollution is the biggest problem of every nation, whether it is
developed or developing.
• Health problems have been growing at faster rate especially in urban areas of
developing countries where industrialization and growing number of vehicles leads
to release of lot of gaseous pollutants.
• Harmful effects of pollution include mild allergic reactions such as irritation of the
throat, eyes and nose as well as some serious problems like bronchitis, heart diseases,
pneumonia, lung and aggravated asthma

SOLUTION:
● Air and water Pollution Monitoring System monitors the Air and water quality over a
web server using Internet .
● It will trigger an alarm when the air/water Means when there are sufficient amount of
harmful gases present in the air like CO2, smoke, alcohol, benzene, NH3, LPG and
NOx.
● It will show the air quality in PPM on the LCD and as well as on webpage so that it
can monitor it very easily. The system will show temperature and Moisture.
● The system can be installed anywhere but mostly in industries and houses where gases
are mostly to be found and gives an alert messages when the system crosses threshold
limit.

LITERATURE SURVEY:
● R. K. Jha, "Air Quality Sensing and Reporting System Using IoT," This Paper Helps to enhance the
quality of air by detecting the abnormalities present in it. They used Arduino and microcontroller for this
project.
● Saha et al. in A raspberry Pi controlled cloud based air and sound pollution monitoring system with
temperature and humidity sensing” implemented a cloud-based system where air pollution and noise
pollution data is collected. The data is stored in the cloud for anomaly detection. All the values are
compared with threshold values and alerts are sent to proper authorities if the data is above the certain
threshold.
● S.Faiazuddin, and team "IoT based Indoor Air QualityMonitoring system using Raspberry Pi4. This
Paper was built to check and monitor the quality of air samples by using raspberry and MQ-135 sensor
to check the quality of air samples. They mainly focused on gases like Co2, Carbon Monoxide etc

LITERATURE SURVEY:
● M.Mukta, and team "IoT based Smart Water Quality Monitoring System," This Paper Helps to check
the quality of Ph and Other Parameters of water by using Ph Sensor. It mainly focuses on Water
Parameters to make water clean.
● Pasika and Gandla , “Smart water quality monitoring system with cost-effective using IoT”. They
proposed a monitoring system which consists of a number of sensors used to measure several quality
parameters like turbidity, pH value, water level in the tank, dampness of the adjoining environment and
temperature of the water. The sensors are interfaced with the Microcontroller Unit (MCU) and additional
processing is executed by the Personal Computer (PC). The acquired data will be directed to the cloud
by means of Internet of Things (IoT) based ThinkSpeak application for monitoring the quality of the
water under test.
● A. R. Memon, and team, "IoT Based Water Quality Monitoring System for Safe Drinking Water. This
Paper was developed to enhance the quality of water and to make the water safe for drinking. It was very
helpful for the people as there were many cases of hard water and increase of salinity in water

8. PROPOSED METHODOLOGY
• Here we propose an air quality as well as water pollution monitoring system that allows us to monitor and
check live air quality as well as water pollution in a particular areas through IOT.
• System uses air sensors to sense presence of harmful gases/compounds in the air and constantly transmit this
data to microcontroller.
• Also system keeps measuring water level and reports it to the online server over IOT. The sensors interact
with microcontroller which processes this data and transmits it over internet. This allows authorities to
monitor air pollution in different areas and take action against it.
• Also authorities can keep a watch on the water pollution near industries, urban areas, and if system detects air
quality and water issues it alerts authorities so they can take measures to control the issue.
