Analysis Of The Showdown At House Of Blue Leaves Scene In...
Since the 1990 s Quentin Tarantino has been viewed as one of the most iconic directors of
modern cinema. His most praised scenes are always his combat scenes, or the finals scenes of
each film. While there are plenty of good combat scenes in each Quentin Tarantino film, the
Showdown at House of Blue Leaves scene from Kill BillVol. 1 (2003) is by far the most beautiful
and impactful. Kill Bill Vol. 1 follows an female ex assassin The Bride on a brutal
Atkinson 2 revenge filled journey. Within the scene Showdown at House of Blue Leaves, through
the use of mise en scГЁne, sound, and cinematography, Quentin Tarantinobeautifully reflects the
emotions and capability of The Bride and her enemy O ren Ishii.
Firstly, through the use of mise en scГЁne, at the beginning of the scene, Quentin Tarantino
displays and manages to symbolize the complete contrasts of how the two characters are feeling.
The setting of a film is the most fundamental featur[e] of mise en scГЁne. (Corrigan and White,
69) The Bride has just finished maiming and killing 88 fully trained assassins, and now walks
out onto the rooftop garden of O ren Ishii s House Of Blue Leaves. The contrast of the inside of
the house compared to the outside of the house, makes it appear as if The Bride is literally
walking into a movie screen, hinting towards the next scene holding a different tone from the
previous one feeling like it is from a different movie. This indeed happens, as the battle between

Introduction
Standards need to be set in order to handle current capabilities and handle the demands of what is
to come. Standards that come with radio communication have been around for a while and one
of those standards includes Public safety radio services. This standard was created for a given
scenario were the government would have to send out a message to inform the public. Any
agencies that deal with public safety are required to meet this standard. You may here these
messages come across the radio in states of emergency and see tests on your television. This
standard is known as SO 04 005 for communications involving radio. The standard has to meet all
of the ANSI/TIA/EIA 102 standards, also has to have the capability of using the existing 800 MHz
bandwidth, and has to work with interface devices that are present know and to come in the future.
This paper will cover ANSI/TIA/EIA 102 standards that are to meet. Section 1 will discuss the Open
Systems Intercommunication (OSI) model for communication systems. Section 2 will look at
Analog to Digital Converters for transmission and reception using digital communication. Section 3
will include modulation standards. Section 4 will contain linking and Section 5 encryption
standards.

When People Talk About How Fast Technology Is Evolving
When people talk about how fast technology is evolving in our world today, an important factor that
has come into play because of the way people exploit technology is cybersecurity. There are several
directions that cybersecurity has gone in affecting the world. Most recent the past election and how
another country determined the outcome of that election by gaining online contact. There are
several flaws that have happened with current cybersecurity, but it can still be a good thing if better
solutions are put into place, and if more cybersecurity analyst take their responsibilities more
seriously. Those responsibilities can range from dealing with an incoming cyber attack, and setting
up protection for businesses that have important data.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general, technology is never perfect, and that is why it is important that people become more
informed about cybersecurity. In the online Academic JournalBuilding Cybersecurity Awareness:
The need for evidence based framing strategies. By Hans de Bruijn and Marijn Janssen. Hans de
Bruijn states Almost everybody has heard of cybersecurity, however, the urgency and behavior
of persons do not reflect high level of awareness. The internet is all too often considered as a
safe environment for sharing information, transactions and controlling the physical world, yet
cyberwars are already ongoing and there is an urgent need to be better prepared. That just shows
how in reality we as a society are not looking at the bigger picture. We worry less about how with
a push of a button tons of information can be stolen or even erased. As Hans mentioned
cyberwars are happening in front of us without us realizing it. That is why as a society with
access to a great deal of technology people need to be more aware of cybersecurity. There are
many ways that the public can be made aware of it. One of those ways is to show actual evidence
to people who tend to prioritize technology, and the online network instead of just giving them a
warning. That way awareness can spread on how to be prepared in case that person is a target in
the future. Another academic article Cyber security for home users: A new way of protection

New Year Eve Party Essay
New Year s Eve has become one of the biggest days of the year for parties and events throughout
the world. Therefore, an unlimited amount of events are planned and executed on the last day of
the year; this year I attended a New Year eve party at the house of a co worker. The party was
held in a neighborhood just inside the city of Charlotte. It has been a while since I attended a house
party, so there are some aspects that come along with a house party that will increase the amount of
riskassociated with the staging of the New Year Eve party. The name of the event was Shari and

and was scheduled to end at 2:00 am January 1, 2016. However... Show more content on

The event was held at a house so the facility was well managed. There was one entrance into the
basement, which led to the crowd being forced to use the same stairway to enter and exit the
through the same area. I would have suggested that the event planners had selected another
venue to hold the party because the party had a cramped feeling to it. Therefore, the exit and
entrance was clearly marked, but it was a lack of actually signs used to identify the exit and
entrance. The nature of the event made the need for security to be moot, everyone that was
invited to the event was friends of the party host. Thus, security may have been overkill at an
event of this scale. The event was lacking ADA accommodations, if there was an attendee that
need ADA accommodations to make to the basement where the majority of the activities were
being held, then the lack of wheelchair access would have been an issue. When planning an
event, the scale and scope of the event is vital to consider the size of the crowd that will be
attending the event. The New Year Eve party had between 50 60 attendees throughout the course of
the event. Based on the information provided by the event planner, there was probably 15 more
guest than they initial planned to host at the party. The location of the event caused the flow of the
traffic to become a possible issue. When holding an event in a private neighborhood, there will be a

Comparing Communism And Functionalism On Societal Values
Marxism is a conflict theory. This conflict theory explicitly emphasises the promotion of capitalist
values which are in favour of the bourgeoisie; the ruling class.
Capitalism upholds the values of the bourgeoisie over the values of the proletariats therefore
sustaining the ruling class ideology. These dominant values are perpetuated by social institutions
like the mass media and the legal system. This creates a false class consciousness; which is when
the proletariats are not conscious of their unjust situation and have upheld the beliefs and values of
the bourgeoisie, undermining the awareness which the proletariats have of their exploitation.

Education
Marxism and interactionalism believe that the educational system is a disadvantage to certain
students of a lower status.
According to Marxist theory, middle class students possess cultural capital which they can use to
elevate themselves in the system, i.e, they can afford personal tutors and inherit a different value on
education in the culture, compared to the working class.
As for Interactionalist theory, the system encourages a system of labelling which enforces negative
stereotypes against pupils. For example, there s the educational attainment records of stereotypical
low or high achievers like the stereotypical low grades that African Caribbeans receive or the
stereotypical high grades that Asians receive. They are thus stream and places in bottom sets
according to perceptions of academic failure. As a result of this, these students internalise the
perceptions to the extent that it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. This self fulfilling prophecy
gives greater significance to the meaning of actions and individuals than the structure of society

The role of human resources is also very important in maintaining an effective health care industry.
If the managerial personnel are performing their duties effectively and efficiently in a health care
organization, the organization will automatically progress. Additionally, the organization will
provide the improved outcomes of the patient health and health care delivery as well. This is so
because human resource is also considered as one of the most important inputs to effective health
care services. Although there exists a variety of challenges in inducting qualified human resource
professionals but there is a strong need to solve this issue. (Kabene, 2006)
The challenges associated with the HRM i.e. human resource management includes the
distribution and composition of health care work force. In addition to this, the issues related to
the training of the work force are also a challenge for the human resource management. The
relocation of the health workers is also a great concern. Moreover, the degree of economic
development is also a great challenge that negatively impacts the level of performance shown by a
health care organization. These challenges must be addressed properly in order to have an effective
health care delivery anywhere in the world.
If we compare the health care financing of past and that of recent times, there exists a dramatic shift
in the trends of the issue. In the past times, the

The Four Classifications Of Minority Serving Institutions
Before I began researching, I thought there were only four different designations for Minority
Serving Institutions. I was wrong. There is a range of designations for universities qualifying as
minority serving. Under Title III and V of the Higher Education Act of 1965 between sections, 316
and 320 there are six different categories. In this paper, we will begin with the overarching point of
understanding Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). We will then break apart the primary four
MSIs, the meaning, the purpose, and the progress and expansion of minority serving institutions.
The designation given to these institutions may seem like an alphabet soup but are really important
in understanding the different audiences that these institutions serve, and the ways they function.
Historically are represented by four of the most known classifications consisting of Hispanic
Serving Institutions (HSI), Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), Asian American
Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISI), and Tribal Colleges and
Universities (TCU) (pg. 3).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The additional categories include Predominantly Black Institutions, Native American Serving
Nontribal Institutions, Alaskan Native Serving Institutions, lastly Native Hawaiian Serving (HEA;

Latin American Indigenous Groups Essay
Indigenous groups in Latin America have unfortunately suffered from losing many of their rights

topics talked about during the class including but not limited to; the environment, racism, loss of
cultural and language, etc. Latin Americahas approximately 45 million indigenous people who

While many in the United States and Peru saw this agreement as positive legislation for further
economic growth in both the U.S and Peru, many indigenous groups in Peru had concerns and
doubts. Many indigenous people participated in demonstrations and protests against the TPA.
The government often criminalized and repressed these relatively peaceful acts. On June 5th
2009, outside of Bagua Chica city violence ended up breaking out between sides, leading to 11
members of the police force and 23 civilians dead ( Peru Overturns ). WOLA along with 12 other
human rights groups wrote a letter to the U.S Secretary of State asking for the government to
examine the TPA, clarify it, and possibly repeal parts if necessary. They also condemned the
violence that had happened on both sides of the dispute (WOLA). The Peruvian government
decided to throw out a couple parts of the legislation to try and make the indigenous activists happy.
While this did help calm things down there are still ongoing environmental problems especially for
indigenous peoples. There was not only a national outcry for change, but also an international one as

How Does George Orwell Use Satire In Animal Farm
Many novels, such as Animal Farm, include satire. Animal Farm, written by George Orwell, is a
satirical fable based on the Russian Revolution.Animal Farm has sold over 9 million copies

and parody techniques of satire in order to highlight the fact that pigs and russians are almost
identical. Orwell used exaggeration by having the animals express human characteristics. One way
Orwell use this technique was when he described that , by autumn almost every animal was literate
in some degree. As for the pigs, they could already read and write perfectly ,(page 32).this show that
animals have human characteristics of talking, reading, and writing.Another

The second one I chose to write about was Susan B. Anthony because of how she was raised to
stand up for her beliefs about men and women being equal. The last one I chose to write about
was Helen Keller because even though her parents did not raise her, she had an amazing and kind
caretaker named Anne Sullivan that showed her that even though she was deaf and blind she
could change the world for the better. These women have rightfully earned their spots in history
and should be praised for the sacrifices they made to make America a better place for slaves,
women and the disabled.
Sojourner Truth
During the late seventeenth century if a person was not a land owning single white male, they
were treated horrible. This left women and slaves to be at the bottom of the totem pole. Now
imagine being a woman born into slavery, this would put the woman even lower on the pole; close
to being equal with dirt. However, this did not stop Sojourner Truth from fighting for women s
rights and being an abolitionist.

how she was used as a symbol for various movements. Painter shows how religion was a major

College Is The Best Year Of Your Life
College is supposed to be some of the best years of your life. My first semester at college did not
fit that description. While attending Bethel University my experience was the opposite. It was
there that I had encountered some of the hardest situations I have ever had to deal with and some
of the most terrible people. When looking for the college I wanted to attend, Bethel seemed like
the perfect fit. The campus was beautiful, it was a Christian university, and they offered me a really
good scholarship. It was within my first week there that I knew it wasn t the place for me. All
throughout high school, I was a people pleaser. I could never say no and I was always doing other
people favors. Now that I look back, I realize that I was often taken advantage of and used, but I
didn t know that yet going into college. I went in to Bethel with the exact same mindset I had in
high school. I wanted to do anything and everything I could to make my roommates, all five of
them, like me. I got along with one of my roommates, Sydney, really great. We had the same
interests and were the more social ones in our room. Our roommates on the other hand, were not.
Sydney and I did our best to include them and help them have a better time in college. We would
get lunch with them every day and introduce them to our friends and other people in our hall. It
soon became apparent how strange these other girls really were.

Odysseus Essay
In Homer s Odyssey, he uses the stories of Calypso and Circe to give a reader a glimpse at Greek
values. Odysseus is a quot;perfectly quot; moral man by Greek standards. In the Calypso episode,
Odysseus demonstrates the value of faithfulness, and in the Circe episode, he illustrates Greek
values in general. While both goddesses seek Odysseus to be their husband, Odysseus responds as
a perfect Greek hero. During the Calypsoepisode, Homer teachers that one must remain faithfulin
their hearts. The Circe episode shows the loyalty between a commander and his troops, burial
rights, hospitality, and the relationship between host and guest. The Calypso episode explains how
a man must be faithful to his wife in his heart.

The stories describe hospitality, the loyalty between a commander and his troops, the relationship
between host and guest, and burial rights.
When the story begins with an analysis on how guests ought to be treated. Circe is an
enchantress who welcomes some of Odysseus s troops into her home for food and drink. Then,
she made a potion that would clear their memories so that when she struck them with her magic
wand, they turned into pigs. Zeus or Hermes must have witnessed this episode because Hermes
came to Odysseus with a quot;potent drug quot; (239) that would counteract Circe s potion.
Since Zeus is the god of hospitality, Circe was in the wrong by harming her guests as she did.
So, Odysseus went to Circe with the drug, and when she attempted to do the same thing,
Odysseus was able to triumph over trickery. Thus, another important Greek value is to be kind to
strangers, treat them as guests, and follow the hospitality etiquette. The next event demonstrates
that the commander must be loyal to his troops. Circe offers Odysseus marvelous food with
quot;appetizers aplenty too, lavish with her bounty quot; (242), but her refuses the food saying
that quot;any man in his right mind quot; (242) could not accept food quot;before he d freed his
comrades in arms and looked them in the eyes quot; (242). So, Greek soldiers must be loyal to
each other. This is further demonstrated when Circe sends for Odysseus s ship to come closer to
shore.

Jaws, the opening scene has perfect equilibrium, calm at both the beginning and the end.
Another thing this opening scene has in common with Jaws is the under water camera, and
there are also shots from the killer s point of view in this case, the shooters . In addition to this,
they both end with calm water; a common theme in Spielberg s openings. At the beginning of
the scene, there is a long shot of a war cemetery; this drives home the seriousness of the war and

Mill Vs Adam Smith
Adam Smith and John Stuart Mill were eighteenth and nineteenth century liberal thinkers. Both
men contributed significant political, economic, and social philosophy during their respective
lifetimes. There are many paradigms of thought that the two had in common such as their beliefs
in the necessity of free trade, the abundant right of free speech, and the dream of liberty and
freedom. However, despite both men being liberal giants, there is a great deal of conflict when it
comes to their approaches to colonialism. Their time in history can generally be defined as an era
of European colonialism where the relationship between empire and colony came to the fore of
intellectual and political debate as the quarrels between the British imperial... Show more content on

Like his father before him, Mill worked the majority of his career in the British East India
Company. The company typified the kind of despotic rule that Mill wanted in savage societies.
But, unlike many employees of the company, he recognised the company s government of India
for what it actually was a despotism of an alien race, which, despite the good accomplished by it
in the last decades of its existence, was established by conquest, treaty, and annexation (Harris,
1964, p. 185). It is hard to believe that Mill s liberal colonialism can be considered liberal in the
conventional sense. At the heart of his justification is the principle of progress or improvement by
which the idle and irrational are to become, through a combination of segregation, force, agrarian
labour and education, the industrious, rational, and autonomous citizen to the extent possible and
if not, to remain segregated from civil society and deprived of their rights and freedoms (Arneil,
2012, p. 505). It cannot be liberal to impose your will onto someone else (albeit a foreign state), it
is purely oppression, regardless of what perceived just cause you are doing it in the name of.
Interestingly, this liberal colonialism of the nineteenth century has striking parallels to that of
twenty first century neo conservatism in the USA. Where Mill wanted to increase

Similarities Between Constantine The Great And Qin Shihuangdi
Constantine was called Constantine the Great and Qin Shihuangdi was the emperor of the Qin
dynasty; each of these men was leaders of their country and each is similar and as much as they
may be similar in their title s they were different. Constantine the Great was a man that lead an
empire that persecuted Christians, which he later put an end to the persecution of Christians. Qin
Shihuangdi was a leader in his country, he had interests in magic, he dished out cruel punishments,
ruled with strict laws, and was believed to have created shrewd military policies. Each of these
leaders was seen as good leaders, however, they did use harsh methods to control their people and
rule their country. A tomb for Qin Shihuangdi was constructed, which had terracotta soldiers and
horses to protect his tomb (Hoh, 2001, p. 35). Constantine I, upon his death was buried in
Constantinople (Freeman, 2001, p. 1).

Physiology Lab 3 Activity 2 Essay
1) Make a graph of resting heart rates from Activity 1. Provide a physiological explanation for
fluctuations in resting heart rate over time. Discuss a couple of extrinsic factors that influence the
autonomic nervous regulation of resting heart rate.
The resting heart rate fluctuates over time because it is under control of the autonomic nervous
system and the fluctuations are a result of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems trying to
balance each other out.
There are many reasons on why the resting heart rate can fluctuate over time. Factors can include
things like the temperature of the room we were in, or what we ate/ drank for breakfast. Also
volume of liquid or chemicals in the cell can impact the heart rate.

Homeostatic is all about balance so when you begin to exercise, you need more oxygen. The harder
you breathe the more energy it takes to replace it. Your body temperature while exercising also
increases; typically it creates too much heat so your body has to figure out a way to release the
heat so it doesn t become dangerous. This is done by sweating
4) Compare and contrast oscillations in heart rate observed at rest (Activity 1), during exercise and
recovery exercise (Activity 2). Is the relative magnitude of the oscillations the same? Provide a
physiological explanation in your answer.
In the first experiment I was subject 2. For the most part my heart rate did not oscillate too much.
My heart rate was a little slower than the other subjects as well. Compared to Activity 2, his
oscillations while exercising were a little more dramatic. The reason for this could be that your
heart is trying to adjust to the new physically taxing activity that you are enduring. Your body is
trying to balance, but if it is thrown into a demanding activity it will take a little bit more adjusting
than if you are just resting.

Consumer Discrimination And Sexual Orientation Based...
Earlier this year, the concepts of consumer discrimination and sexual orientation based
discrimination have come to a forefront in American politics and should be dealt with through
federal legislation (Payne, 2015). Two arguments which can be used to argue on the side of
discrimination are the First Amendment used in tandem with corporate personhood and the First
Amendment used on its own. I argue, however, that corporate personhood is not a legitimate
argument nor is the First Amendment grounds for an individual to discriminate against another.
Another defense of discrimination against consumers is the first section of the Thirteenth
Amendment. The elimination and prevention of the entirety of such discrimination could be
carried out through enacting a single two part law. Two defenses of discrimination include a
combination of the First Amendment with each current precedent regarding corporations and of its
own accord. Current precedent is the concept of corporate personhood wherein a corporation is
treated as a person albeit with controversy regarding their treatment (Ripken, 2010). When this
precedent is used in tandem with the provision that the free exercise of religion shall not be
prohibited in the First Amendment, this makes a case that the government may not prohibit a
corporation from exercising a religion (U.S. Const. amend. XIX). The other possible argument
regarding the First Amendment is the individual s right to exercise their religion. Each of these

Aside from the beautiful architecture of the temples and palaces surrounding the Forbidden City,

Innovation In Child Care Centers
This research intends to explore innovation at an individual level, but in a context, where the roles

Human actions and interactions, in the process of value creation, play significant roles for attaining

The War I Left Men Wound Mentally And Physically

were either wounded in the line of fire or had nightmares of what happen in the trenches (Brose,

a shell in the line of fire (Remarque, 12). These sights caused men to repress their worries
because they did not want to die in the war. In order for them to survive, they had to come to the
realization to repress the questions of why they were fighting and what they were fighting for out

Moreover, the Russian Revolution was the outcome of the communist party wanting to have
complete control over the citizens in Russia. They displayed this idea with their thoughts about
removing the practice of religion. They saw religion as an opium, for they believed it caused the
people to be inactive mainly the working class (Brose, 167). For they saw religion as a malicious
idea, which caused them to see churches as a danger to the bourgeoisie because they believed that
the proletarians were planning evil events against them (Brose, 167). Eisenstein demonstrated the
communist oppression of religion with the jester on the cross in the priest s hand as being a

Essay on The Black Balloon Movie Review
Would you be able to cope? That is the unspoken challenge laid down by The Black Balloon, a

seemingly infinite reserves of love and patience possessed by the Mollisons, the movie s itinerant,

No sooner has she left than Charlie begins wreaking havoc. The scenes of Charlie running amok

dashes through the neighbourhood and into a strange house to use the bathroom. In a

to return some items to the shelves; eventually he has to be dragged out of the store screaming.
At one point an angry neighbour summons child services to the Mollisons home. In the most

Good English And Bad By Bill Bryson
Standard English In his article Good English and Bad , Bill Bryson focus on how English rules
were changed throughout history. He stresses that people should not worry about how to use
English correctly too much because English comes from Latin and it is not necessary to follow
Latin rules in English. While in the article Why Good English is Good for You , John Simon
stresses how English must be used in a proper way by following its rules. Simon believes that
good English can express one s idea clearly and people should spread it. Although Bryson and
Simon have different perspectives on the way how people use English, the requirement of
standard English rules should vary depending on different situations. The use of standard English
rules should be variable depending on who use it, such as immigrants in the United States. As we
know, most immigrants native languages are not English. When they communicate with other
people in English, immigrants convey their opinions with their merely familiar words. Perhaps
they need to say several times so that they could express their idea clearly. However, most of the
time, native English speaker can easily comprehend immigrants ideas by catching the main words
and predict what immigrants want to say. In the article Why Good English is Good for You , John
Simon shows that Figure out is precisely what a listener or reader should not have to do (532). In

A Description of Auditing
Auditing is a systematic process of objectively obtaining and evaluating evidence regarding
assertions about economic actions and events to ascertain the degree of correspondence between
those assertions and established criteria and communicating the results to interested users (Boynton

the Generally Accepted Auditing Standards are followed by auditors. The Generally Accepted
Auditing Standards apply to financial, operational, and compliance audits. Auditing public traded
companies has been effected by the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002, and the Public Company

The four reporting standard are financial statements presented in accordance with GAAP,
consistency in the application of GAAP, adequacy of informative disclosures, and expressing an
opinion. The auditor needs to be able to identify the GAAP to be able to specify in the auditor s
report where the GAAP has not been followed under any circumstances. The auditor has to disclose
any information that has been false by management. The auditor is required to give an opinion on
the financial statements as a whole.
Financial, operational, and Compliance Audits
A financial statement audit involves obtaining and evaluating evidence about an entity s
presentation of its financial position, results of operations, and cash flows for the purpose of
expressing an opinion on whether they are presented fairly in conformity with established criteria
according to the GAAP (Boynton Johnson, 2006). Financial statements are released to stockholders,
creditors, regulatory agencies, and the general public. Financial audits give lenders information on
the company to help with their decision.
Operational audit involves obtaining and evaluating evidence about the efficiency and effectiveness
of an entity s operating activities in relation to specified objectives (Boynton Johnson, 2006). The
element of standards of field work has an important role in operational audits. Operational audits

values are the basis of all human decisions and knowledge. Every person s morals are different
from one another and can be used to define what is right and what is wrong in their own eyes.
Values are used as a personal translator that explains another person s behavior or beliefs to a
different individual. When people focus on both morals and values that have been set by them, they

Experiences as children can shape people s brain and affect what is seen as right or wrong.
Values are acquired in childhood and manifest themselves in our campuses as permanent
perceptions that shape and influence the nature of our behaviors (Chmielewski n.p.). As a child,
that person is still developing and maturing both mentally and physically, so the values and
morals the child learns are applied to their lives and are held onto. In a world that is constantly
growing and developing, it is important for youths to hold onto morals taught to them in their
childhood (George 4). Adults also need to hold onto these morals to help youths to learn and

The Worst Death Trap, Killing Fourteen Italian Immigrants
On March 13, 1900, a tenement building in New York City caught fire, killing fourteen Italian
immigrants. The poorly constructed frame building housed three stories of tenement quarters,
with ten apartments per floor. The rooms were five by ten feet, separated only by flimsy half
inch thick boards. With just one exit through the entrance of the building, and that only by way
of a 42 inch wide stairway, their only escape was destroyed, leaving eleven families of caged
victims beyond help. People became so desperate that they jumped from upper balconies as the
firemen on the scene struggled to control the flames. The top floor proved to be the deadliest, with

Connected to these changes were rapidly declining sanitary conditions in tenement housing and
rising prices. Immigrants came to America with visions of streets paved in gold and a chance to
rise through hard work. Americans who had lived longer in the country and who harbored rabid
anti immigrant sentiments greeted them with derision and abuse. They saw immigrants as
competition in an already dwindling job market, and bearers of the dreaded Catholicism, socialism,
communism, and other foreign evils. Social Darwinism, in vogue at the time, only compounded
the problems of the poor. Darwin s work in animal dominance was translated into social beliefs that
benefitted successful businessmen and capitalist bullies. Social Darwinism claimed that the
wealthy were dominant because they were superior, and the poor were so because they were
inherently flawed. The effect of this theory was that no help was offered to the poor because they
deserved none, and there was no call to level the playing field because the rich had triumphed
through natural selection. With more and more people pouring into the major industrialized cities,
new arrivals were forced (often tricked) into cheap and dirty tenement housing in the more
dangerous areas of town, in order to afford bare subsistence in a society already glutted with
humanity and twisted notions about nationality. Tenement fire stories permeated newspaper reports

Human Inhumanity
Human experimentation is subjecting living beings to science experiments that can sometimes be
painful, cruel, deadly and risky. The human beings used in these experiments have changed the lives
of billions with advancements made in the medical field, over the last two centuries, some of the
subjects used in the experiments have been compensated for the physical and emotional damage
done (Veracity,2). However, many have lost their lives due to the experiments. By examining the
cruelty and inhumanity that the people were treated during the procedures of the experiments
throughout history, the abuse of power of the doctors performing experiments, and the permanent

Music And Censorship In Rock And Roll Music
Censorship has long been an issue in Rock and Roll music. Although our American society
celebrates classic rock that emerged in the 60 s and 70 s, today, artists such as: The Rolling
Stones, The Beatles, The Doors, The Sex Pistols, and Bob Dylan were harshly judged for their
music and image they projected because some members of society feared they were too
suggestive, or just completely inappropriate. These rebellious artists fought against their music
being censored in the best ways for their bands. The Rolling Stones was one of the first bands of
the 60 s to have their song (I Can t Get No) Satisfaction banned from the radio due to the fact that
some could consider it indecent (Rutledge Borger, 2012). The Stones music was enjoyed by
many, but the lyrics had the potential to spark controversy, especially during live performances.
Producers and planners of live performances were more conservative and cautious of keeping
television clean and suitable for all ages, and would go to great lengths to make sure that all was
kept modest. That is exactly what happened on The Ed Sullivan Showon September 11, 1967. The
Rolling Stones were allowed to perform on the show as long as they agreed that they would

They even did not take into account that Bloodsworth in no way resembled the description that
was given to police by the witnesses at first. It is quite funny the sketch that was done by a police
sketch artist resembles Bloodsworth their prime suspect at this time. A sketch mind you that the
witnesses said did not look like the person they saw. I find it also odd that two of the witnesses did
not pick put Bloodsworth at first, it was not until later that they had time to think that Bloodsworth
was the one that they saw. While we are on the subject the police ruled out a potential suspect his
demographical features did not meet the description that was given by the witnesses. How odd one
suspect is ruled out by demographical features but one is not.
In March of 1985, Bloodsworth was sentenced to death. Through it all Bloodsworth maintained
his innocence and in 1993 with the help of a new technique used to test for DNA, Bloodsworth
got his chance to prove he was innocent. Bloodsworth became the first person ever to be
exonerated from death row by DNA evidence. (Jain, 2001) In one

Claudas The Land Laid Waste
Her vow kept and her duty done, Phedre married Claudas becoming Queen of what was known as
Terre Deserte since the days of Uther. The Land Laid Waste. It was a desolate but fertile land with
the common people falling to the cross as they forgot the Old Ways. Even without the title of
priestess, Phedre would never have been an idle womanwith the seemly virtues of a housewife.
Opinionated, logical and well educated, she was quick to learn how to manage her new home as
well as her new husband.
Claudas was ambitious, intelligent and greedy, prone to paranoia and jealousy as he sat uneasy
upon his throne. He was combative with neighboring lands and harsh when slighted but he knew
how to lead an army. He had a keen mind for strategy and battle.

Mary Parker Follett s Leadership
Mary Parker Follett had approached management in a different view than most managers of her
time. Rather than seeing conflict as just that, a conflict, she thought a conflict could be a good
thing. Mary believed that managing was not about dominating the employees, nor
compromising with them but rather stating each of the preferences a person holds and striving
to meet each of the personal needs together. She also believed that when a manager is giving
orders, they need to thoroughly discuss the instructions as well as deal with resentment. Chris
Kolbe believes his authority comes from his commitment to the company and his team, the way
he approaches things and his performance. Kolbe states he draws it from what he does every
minute, in how he communicates with his employees, and his directness. It seems as though
Kolbe and Follett had similar managerial practices. Follett thrives for a work place where each
person can express their personal preferences yet being respectful and mindful of those around
them. Kolbe creates a work environment where each employee feels safe and enjoys working
with him. He allows each employee to express their ideas and be their own person within the
business. By putting each and every employee into the broader picture, they have a sense of
belonging. This creates a thriving business. Also, Follett goes on to state that a manager needs to
be direct and thorough about what needs to be done. Kolbe has these one on one talks with his
employees

An Inspector Calls By J. B. Priestley
The play An Inspector Calls by J. B. Priestley tells the story of a wealthy family in 1912 who are
holding a celebration when the harsh figure of a police inspector arrives to investigate the
suicide of a young woman who used to work at Mr Birling s factory. In the first fifteen pages of
the play, Priestley is able to make the Birling family appear extremely confident, whilst also
creating subtle tensions, of which the significance later becomes clear. Confidence: In the
opening pages of the play, Birling s speeches contain a lot of dramatic irony. For example, he
confidently states what he thinks are proven facts which turn out to be false. For example,
Birling s response to rumours about a war is to that I say fiddlesticks! and that there isn t a
change of war . This is extremely ironic since several years after the play is set, World War I
breaks out and after that, before the play is written, World War II follows. Birling later mentions
a friend of his who was due to go on the Titanic, and he calls it unsinkable . The Titanic was the
height of aristocracy at the time, and was one of the biggest events of the time showing such huge
class divide. The dramatic irony is that the Titanic, in fact, sunk, despite its reputation as being
unsinkable , and Birling s complacency and confidence causes him to not consider the possibility
of this happening. It also makes him appear rather idiotic to the audience. Finally, he describes how
Russia will always be behindhand

The Difference Roles Among Male And Female Poets Essay
In the first chapter it deals with the contemporary issues of gender. The dissertation title is: the
different voices for women in English Renaissance poetry. The notion of gender relates to the
fixed gender roles of that period. This assignment mainly deals with the issue of how gender
roles are different among male and female poets. In addition, to narrow the research only four
Elizabethan poets, who were specialised in religious poetry. Poets such as John Donne, George
Herbert, Mary Sidney Herbert and Aemelia Lanyer. The reason for choosing these poets is because

Donne born as a catholic, but converted into Protestantism, yet he uses much athletic imagery in
his poetry. Herbert a strong Christian , who has written my devotional poetry sees God
Almighty as a shepherd and uses natural imagery such as, flowers and animals. This is to
convey his need for guidance as well as his piety to his lord. In addition, Mary Sidney Herbert
raised as a Calvinist also uses devotional language in her psalms, yet she uses a more masculine
and aggressive tone to express her anger on the original sin. Lastly, Amelia lanyer raised as
protestant who has written feminist poetry that uses a gentle, passive tone than Sidney. Her
approach in describing Eve as the best woman of the creation. Thus, Lanyer poetry is more
feministic but also argumentive in defending women.
In the book English Poetry of the Sixteenth century Gary Waller speaks about how poetry is male
centred; In such a society, and within such a philosophy of love, both so male centred, (1986:2)
This shows how patriarchal certain Elizabethan poems were but the religious poetry is different
according to change in gender roles.
In Donne s Holy Sonnets 18 it speaks about how the church is a bride to Christ. In other words,
the church, bears it purity and holiness it embodies an image of a woman. However, the church
could also means the haven for the mystery bride of Jesus Christ. The search for the bride is

Cost, Quality, And Timing
Tendering
In this stage the project contract including all details about cost, quality, and timing is presented
and usually several contractors make an offer. Then a contractor (or more than a contractor based
on project requirements) is selected to accomplish the site construction. Usually the cheapest offer
wins; of course there might be considerations of quality.
Construction
The contractor that has been appointed to carry out the site work now will be called as the
constructor, and starts to complete the building on the specified time and within the approved time
and quality limits. Adequate supervision is necessary in this stage so that the defined quality
standards as well as legal requirement are met.
Commissioning
In the Commissioning stage the constructed building is inspected for probable errors or deficits
from the agreed contractual or legal requirements. It is checked whether all facilities are working
properly and facilities and systems meet defined objectives and criteria. If there are any repairs or
fixings essential they will be carried out in this stage.
Operation and Maintenance
Facilities and buildings operations and maintenance covers all services required to guarantee the
built construction is performing well. All the constructions may not have this stage. This stage is
especially for sensitive and/or complex constructions such as power plants. Operations and
maintenance normally includes the day to day activities necessary

Air Labeling Research Paper
If you are sending a package via air freight and you want it to reach its final destination
undamaged, it is vital that the package be properly labeled. Make sure that your package meets all
labeling requirements and has the appropriate handling symbols.
The Container
You don t have to use new boxes for shipping via air fright; you may reuse old containers or
boxes. All old shipping labels must be removed or covered up so there is no confusion about the
boxes destination or handling instructions. However, any container or box that you use needs to be
in good shape and strong enough to withstand the shipping process.
Any boxes that are ripped, torn or falling apart are not good candidates for air freight shipping. All

If your package is more than a couple of feet tall, it should probably be labeled as top heavy. Your
package should also be labeled as top heavy if it can easily be tipped over. The symbol for top
heavy is a short horizontal line, with a long straight vertical line in the middle of the horizontal

words caution written at the top of the symbol and top heavy written at the bottom of the symbol.
The symbol kind of looks like an upside down anchor.

Most air fright packages are transported via fork lifts. If for some reason you do not want a fork lift

Integration In Little Rock s Central High School
A sixteen year old girl becomes a warrior when in 1954 the Supreme Court ruled Brown v. Board
of Education; there Melba and eight other teenagers are chosen to integrate Little Rock s Central
High School. A warrior is a person who is brave or experienced solider or fighter. Young Melba had
to become a warrior when walking into the battlefield of Central High School. Melba had the
weapons of God, friends, and family; people who stood up for her and helped her through her
hardships. A girlsmiled at me, another gave me directions, still another boy whispered the page I
should turn to in our textbook. This is going to work out. It takes more time than I thought. But we
re going to have integration in Little Rock (Beals 117). While being taunted by her schoolmates and
their parents, threatened by mobs, attacked by lit sticks of dynamite, and wounded by acid sprayed
in her eyes, however, she never backed down and became an unexpected hero to many. Thesis

Globalization And The Impact Of Globalization In The...
Globalization in Medellin has been distributed unevenly throughout the years. Medellin has
benefitted from the effects of globalization in the security and energy efficiency sector, especially
with the emergence of the Metrocables (Brand, 2013). However, globalization has yet to have a
significant impact on the political and economic developmentof the city, and even throughout
Colombia itself. Despite the lack of impact caused by globalizationin these areas, they have still
improved in comparison to their prior status in the 1990 s (Moncada, 2016). Medellin can use
globalization as a tool to decrease unemployment rates and increase the value of their economy,
which they have begun to do in moderation. Those who were previously excluded from the effects
of globalization in Medellin are slowly being integrated into the globalizing of the city with the
development of the Metrocables, with the intention of establishing the government s concern for
those living in disadvantaged areas, since the Metrocables are built in the poorest sectors of
Medellin (Brand, 2013). The areas that these Metrocables are situated in have seen commercial
changes, resulting in the number of businesses multiplying and thus creating new job opportunities
for those who are unemployed and growing the economic sector of globalization in Medellin
(Agudelo, et al. 2013). Although Medellin as well as Colombia as a state may face big challenges
in the development of the city s internationalization

Flexible Staffing In Nursing
Even though RNAO and other agencies support flexible staffing and even mentioned self
scheduling in their best practice guideline, there is no framework for agencies to implement it in
their respective hospitals. In a trial conducted by Griesmer (1993), nurses are required to work for
160 hours in 4 weeks and can skip 16 hours of work per scheduling period. Griersmer also
incorporated some of their old rules into the framework such as each nurseis to work 2 weeks of
day shift and night shift respectively, work in the weekends every 3 weeks and at least 1 Friday
evening. In the instance of over staffing, the staff can work among themselves to trade off a shift,
take a day off or make up for it on another week. griesmer also introduced Monitor... Show more

Initiating change can be quite difficult especially when majority of the staff are satisfied with the
status quo. Verbalizing a compelling vision can increase the urgency for change, asking for
feedback and responding to their concerns and helping each staff transition through every phase of
the change can solve the reluctance of the staff to change to self scheduling. Communication
breakdown can negatively impact the staff s willingness to participate in th change process. The
staff s productivity and engagement in the change can be improve by maintaining an open
communication that updates the stake holders with timely and accurate information. Nurses
abusing the system is common across any scheduling framework as some staff put their personal
wants before the unit s needs and accumulate a lot of unworked hours without making up for it.
Involving the staff in the initiative reduces this problem. Griesmer solved the problem by
allowing each nurse to be the monitor of the month. The role is first given to the nurses who
abused the system so they can understand the amount of effort the shift managers had to put in to
create a schedule that accounts for everyone s needs. . Eventually, the role becomes available to
everyone and every nurse is required to be a MOM at least

The Frente Sandinista de LiberaciГіn Nacional (FSLN), or the Sandinista National Liberation
Front, came to power in Nicaragua in 1979 after ousting Anatasio Somoza and putting an end to his
family s thirty six year dictatorship. Prior to the revolution that lead to their rise in power, the
Sandinista National Liberation Front promised to implement several developmental policies that
would raise the living standards of their fellow citizens. I previously argued that development is
both a natural and man made phenomenon which aims to positively shape the lives of people via

Nicaraguans also faced a life expectancy of fifty three years and routinely died from illnesses that
could have easily been treated and monitored. Half of the population was illiterate and thirty
percent of the nation s income went to five percent of the population whilst fifteen percent was
spread across fifty percent. These were just a few of the conditions which prompted the Sandinista
s into action and would eventually determine their political promises and platform. The
developmental programs and policies they enacted were directly in response to these facts and
were meant to improve the lives of their nation s poorest people. Prior to coming to power, the
Sandinistas promised large scale agrarian reform and land redistribution. Agrarian reform as a
national development project was meant to raise the living standards of landless peasant farmers
and provide them with the opportunity to cultivate food for consumption and sale. The rural
bourgeoisie owned around eighty five percent of the nation s farmland and comprised just five
percent of the agricultural economically active population (EAP). Peasant farmers, on the other
hand, made up fifty eight percent of the agricultural EAP and owned the remaining fifteen percent
of the land. Landless laborers, the main group for whom the Sandinistas had promised reform, made
up the remaining thirty seven percent of the agriculturally active population. The

  • 2. Analysis Of The Showdown At House Of Blue Leaves Scene In... Since the 1990 s Quentin Tarantino has been viewed as one of the most iconic directors of modern cinema. His most praised scenes are always his combat scenes, or the finals scenes of each film. While there are plenty of good combat scenes in each Quentin Tarantino film, the Showdown at House of Blue Leaves scene from Kill BillVol. 1 (2003) is by far the most beautiful and impactful. Kill Bill Vol. 1 follows an female ex assassin The Bride on a brutal Atkinson 2 revenge filled journey. Within the scene Showdown at House of Blue Leaves, through the use of mise en scГЁne, sound, and cinematography, Quentin Tarantinobeautifully reflects the emotions and capability of The Bride and her enemy O ren Ishii. Firstly, through the use of mise en scГЁne, at the beginning of the scene, Quentin Tarantino displays and manages to symbolize the complete contrasts of how the two characters are feeling. The setting of a film is the most fundamental featur[e] of mise en scГЁne. (Corrigan and White, 69) The Bride has just finished maiming and killing 88 fully trained assassins, and now walks out onto the rooftop garden of O ren Ishii s House Of Blue Leaves. The contrast of the inside of the house compared to the outside of the house, makes it appear as if The Bride is literally walking into a movie screen, hinting towards the next scene holding a different tone from the previous one feeling like it is from a different movie. This indeed happens, as the battle between The Bride and O ren ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When People Talk About How Fast Technology Is Evolving When people talk about how fast technology is evolving in our world today, an important factor that has come into play because of the way people exploit technology is cybersecurity. There are several directions that cybersecurity has gone in affecting the world. Most recent the past election and how another country determined the outcome of that election by gaining online contact. There are several flaws that have happened with current cybersecurity, but it can still be a good thing if better solutions are put into place, and if more cybersecurity analyst take their responsibilities more seriously. In general, technology is never perfect, and that is why it is important that people become more informed about cybersecurity. In the online Academic JournalBuilding Cybersecurity Awareness: The need for evidence based framing strategies. By Hans de Bruijn and Marijn Janssen. Hans de Bruijn states Almost everybody has heard of cybersecurity, however, the urgency and behavior of persons do not reflect high level of awareness. The internet is all too often considered as a safe environment for sharing information, transactions and controlling the physical world, yet cyberwars are already ongoing and there is an urgent need to be better prepared. That just shows how in reality we as a society are not looking at the bigger picture. We worry less about how with a push of a button tons of information can be stolen or even erased. As Hans mentioned cyberwars are happening in front of us without us realizing it. That is why as a society with access to a great deal of technology people need to be more aware of cybersecurity. There are many ways that the public can be made aware of it. One of those ways is to show actual evidence to people who tend to prioritize technology, and the online network instead of just giving them a warning. That way awareness can spread on how to be prepared in case that person is a target in the future. • 6. New Year Eve Party Essay New Year s Eve has become one of the biggest days of the year for parties and events throughout the world. Therefore, an unlimited amount of events are planned and executed on the last day of the year; this year I attended a New Year eve party at the house of a co worker. The party was held in a neighborhood just inside the city of Charlotte. It has been a while since I attended a house party, so there are some aspects that come along with a house party that will increase the amount of riskassociated with the staging of the New Year Eve party. The name of the event was Shari and Cue s New Year Eve party; the event was held on December 31, 2015. The party started at 9:00pm, and was scheduled to end at 2:00 am January 1, 2016. However... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The event was held at a house so the facility was well managed. There was one entrance into the basement, which led to the crowd being forced to use the same stairway to enter and exit the through the same area. I would have suggested that the event planners had selected another venue to hold the party because the party had a cramped feeling to it. Therefore, the exit and entrance was clearly marked, but it was a lack of actually signs used to identify the exit and entrance. The nature of the event made the need for security to be moot, everyone that was invited to the event was friends of the party host. Thus, security may have been overkill at an event of this scale. The event was lacking ADA accommodations, if there was an attendee that need ADA accommodations to make to the basement where the majority of the activities were being held, then the lack of wheelchair access would have been an issue. When planning an event, the scale and scope of the event is vital to consider the size of the crowd that will be attending the event. The New Year Eve party had between 50 60 attendees throughout the course of the event. Based on the information provided by the event planner, there was probably 15 more guest than they initial planned to host at the party. The location of the event caused the flow of the traffic to become a possible issue. When holding an event in a private neighborhood, there will be a limited number ... This conflict theory explicitly emphasises the promotion of capitalist values which are in favour of the bourgeoisie; the ruling class. Capitalism upholds the values of the bourgeoisie over the values of the proletariats therefore sustaining the ruling class ideology. These dominant values are perpetuated by social institutions like the mass media and the legal system. This creates a false class consciousness; which is when the proletariats are not conscious of their unjust situation and have upheld the beliefs and values of the bourgeoisie, undermining the awareness which the proletariats have of their exploitation. According to Marxist theory, middle class students possess cultural capital which they can use to elevate themselves in the system, i.e, they can afford personal tutors and inherit a different value on education in the culture, compared to the working class. As for Interactionalist theory, the system encourages a system of labelling which enforces negative stereotypes against pupils. This is so because human resource is also considered as one of the most important inputs to effective health care services. There is a range of designations for universities qualifying as minority serving. Under Title III and V of the Higher Education Act of 1965 between sections, 316 and 320 there are six different categories. In this paper, we will begin with the overarching point of understanding Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). We will then break apart the primary four MSIs, the meaning, the purpose, and the progress and expansion of minority serving institutions. • 17. College Is The Best Year Of Your Life College is supposed to be some of the best years of your life. My first semester at college did not fit that description. While attending Bethel University my experience was the opposite. It was there that I had encountered some of the hardest situations I have ever had to deal with and some of the most terrible people. When looking for the college I wanted to attend, Bethel seemed like the perfect fit. The campus was beautiful, it was a Christian university, and they offered me a really good scholarship. It was within my first week there that I knew it wasn t the place for me. All throughout high school, I was a people pleaser. I could never say no and I was always doing other people favors. Now that I look back, I realize that I was often taken advantage of and used, but I didn t know that yet going into college. I went in to Bethel with the exact same mindset I had in high school. I wanted to do anything and everything I could to make my roommates, all five of them, like me. I got along with one of my roommates, Sydney, really great. While both goddesses seek Odysseus to be their husband, Odysseus responds as a perfect Greek hero. During the Calypsoepisode, Homer teachers that one must remain faithfulin their hearts. The stories describe hospitality, the loyalty between a commander and his troops, the relationship between host and guest, and burial rights. When the story begins with an analysis on how guests ought to be treated. Circe is an enchantress who welcomes some of Odysseus s troops into her home for food and drink. Then, she made a potion that would clear their memories so that when she struck them with her magic wand, they turned into pigs. Zeus or Hermes must have witnessed this episode because Hermes came to Odysseus with a quot;potent drug quot; (239) that would counteract Circe s potion. Since Zeus is the god of hospitality, Circe was in the wrong by harming her guests as she did. So, Odysseus went to Circe with the drug, and when she attempted to do the same thing, Odysseus was able to triumph over trickery. Thus, another important Greek value is to be kind to strangers, treat them as guests, and follow the hospitality etiquette. The next event demonstrates that the commander must be loyal to his troops. Circe offers Odysseus marvelous food with quot;appetizers aplenty too, lavish with her bounty quot; (242), but her refuses the food saying that quot;any man in his right mind quot; (242) could not accept food quot;before he d freed his comrades in arms and looked them in the eyes quot; (242). Another thing this opening scene has in common with Jaws is the under water camera, and there are also shots from the killer s point of view in this case, the shooters . In addition to this, they both end with calm water; a common theme in Spielberg s openings. At the beginning of the scene, there is a long shot of a war cemetery; this drives home the seriousness of the war and just how many people died as it is very easy to forget the sheer number of people who were murdered during the war. The extreme close up on the eye of an old Captain Miller (Tom Hanks) gives the audience a feeling of connection with the character and lets them know he is going to have an important role within the film. Both men contributed significant political, economic, and social philosophy during their respective lifetimes. There are many paradigms of thought that the two had in common such as their beliefs in the necessity of free trade, the abundant right of free speech, and the dream of liberty and freedom. However, despite both men being liberal giants, there is a great deal of conflict when it comes to their approaches to colonialism. The company typified the kind of despotic rule that Mill wanted in savage societies. But, unlike many employees of the company, he recognised the company s government of India for what it actually was a despotism of an alien race, which, despite the good accomplished by it in the last decades of its existence, was established by conquest, treaty, and annexation (Harris, 1964, p. 185). It is hard to believe that Mill s liberal colonialism can be considered liberal in the conventional sense. At the heart of his justification is the principle of progress or improvement by which the idle and irrational are to become, through a combination of segregation, force, agrarian labour and education, the industrious, rational, and autonomous citizen to the extent possible and if not, to remain segregated from civil society and deprived of their rights and freedoms (Arneil, 2012, p. 505). It cannot be liberal to impose your will onto someone else (albeit a foreign state), it is purely oppression, regardless of what perceived just cause you are doing it in the name of. • 26. Consumer Discrimination And Sexual Orientation Based... Earlier this year, the concepts of consumer discrimination and sexual orientation based discrimination have come to a forefront in American politics and should be dealt with through federal legislation (Payne, 2015). Two arguments which can be used to argue on the side of discrimination are the First Amendment used in tandem with corporate personhood and the First Amendment used on its own. I argue, however, that corporate personhood is not a legitimate argument nor is the First Amendment grounds for an individual to discriminate against another. Another defense of discrimination against consumers is the first section of the Thirteenth Amendment. The elimination and prevention of the entirety of such discrimination could be carried out through enacting a single two part law. Two defenses of discrimination include a combination of the First Amendment with each current precedent regarding corporations and of its own accord. Current precedent is the concept of corporate personhood wherein a corporation is treated as a person albeit with controversy regarding their treatment (Ripken, 2010). When this precedent is used in tandem with the provision that the free exercise of religion shall not be prohibited in the First Amendment, this makes a case that the government may not prohibit a corporation from exercising a religion (U.S. Const. amend. XIX). The other possible argument regarding the First Amendment is the individual s right to exercise their religion. Each of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Music And Censorship In Rock And Roll Music Censorship has long been an issue in Rock and Roll music. Although our American society celebrates classic rock that emerged in the 60 s and 70 s, today, artists such as: The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Doors, The Sex Pistols, and Bob Dylan were harshly judged for their music and image they projected because some members of society feared they were too suggestive, or just completely inappropriate. These rebellious artists fought against their music being censored in the best ways for their bands. The Rolling Stones was one of the first bands of the 60 s to have their song (I Can t Get No) Satisfaction banned from the radio due to the fact that some could consider it indecent (Rutledge Borger, 2012). The Stones music was enjoyed by many, but the lyrics had the potential to spark controversy, especially during live performances. Producers and planners of live performances were more conservative and cautious of keeping television clean and suitable for all ages, and would go to great lengths to make sure that all was kept modest. That is exactly what happened on The Ed Sullivan Showon September 11, 1967. The Rolling Stones were allowed to perform on the show as long as they agreed that they would change the let s spend the night together lyrics to a more appropriate let s spend some time together (Richin, 2015). State ~ 76 Md.App. 23, 543 A.2d 382 case to discuss on whether or not the forensic evidence that was submitted for this case should have been admissible or not. To understand whether or not the evidence should be admissible or not we first have to know what the case is about. This case started on July 25, 1984, with the death of a nine year old girl by the name of Dawn Hamilton. The story plays out as follows: Dawn approached two boys and an adult male that were fishing at a pond in a wooded area near Golden Ring Mall in eastern Baltimore, Maryland. It seems that they got tunnel view when it came to Bloodsworth and were going to make the evidence stick one way or another. This is made evident in the fact that Bloodsworth was the only suspect that they looked at for the crime. They never investigated any other leads to the crime. They even did not take into account that Bloodsworth in no way resembled the description that was given to police by the witnesses at first. It is quite funny the sketch that was done by a police sketch artist resembles Bloodsworth their prime suspect at this time. A sketch mind you that the witnesses said did not look like the person they saw. I find it also odd that two of the witnesses did not pick put Bloodsworth at first, it was not until later that they had time to think that Bloodsworth was the one that they saw. While we are on the subject the police ruled out a potential suspect his demographical features did not meet the description that was given by the witnesses. How odd one suspect is ruled out by demographical features but one is not. In March of 1985, Bloodsworth was sentenced to death. Through it all Bloodsworth maintained his innocence and in 1993 with the help of a new technique used to test for DNA, Bloodsworth got his chance to prove he was innocent. • 44. Mary Parker Follett s Leadership Mary Parker Follett had approached management in a different view than most managers of her time. Rather than seeing conflict as just that, a conflict, she thought a conflict could be a good thing. Mary believed that managing was not about dominating the employees, nor compromising with them but rather stating each of the preferences a person holds and striving to meet each of the personal needs together. She also believed that when a manager is giving orders, they need to thoroughly discuss the instructions as well as deal with resentment. Chris Kolbe believes his authority comes from his commitment to the company and his team, the way he approaches things and his performance. Kolbe states he draws it from what he does every minute, in how he communicates with his employees, and his directness. It seems as though Kolbe and Follett had similar managerial practices. Follett thrives for a work place where each person can express their personal preferences yet being respectful and mindful of those around them. Kolbe creates a work environment where each employee feels safe and enjoys working with him. He allows each employee to express their ideas and be their own person within the business. By putting each and every employee into the broader picture, they have a sense of belonging. This creates a thriving business. Priestley tells the story of a wealthy family in 1912 who are holding a celebration when the harsh figure of a police inspector arrives to investigate the suicide of a young woman who used to work at Mr Birling s factory. In the first fifteen pages of the play, Priestley is able to make the Birling family appear extremely confident, whilst also creating subtle tensions, of which the significance later becomes clear. Confidence: In the opening pages of the play, Birling s speeches contain a lot of dramatic irony. For example, he confidently states what he thinks are proven facts which turn out to be false. For example, Birling s response to rumours about a war is to that I say fiddlesticks! and that there isn t a change of war . This is extremely ironic since several years after the play is set, World War I breaks out and after that, before the play is written, World War II follows. Birling later mentions a friend of his who was due to go on the Titanic, and he calls it unsinkable . The Titanic was the height of aristocracy at the time, and was one of the biggest events of the time showing such huge class divide. The dramatic irony is that the Titanic, in fact, sunk, despite its reputation as being unsinkable , and Birling s complacency and confidence causes him to not consider the possibility of this happening. It also makes him appear rather idiotic to the audience. Finally, he describes how Russia will always be behindhand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Those who were previously excluded from the effects of globalization in Medellin are slowly being integrated into the globalizing of the city with the development of the Metrocables, with the intention of establishing the government s concern for those living in disadvantaged areas, since the Metrocables are built in the poorest sectors of Medellin (Brand, 2013).
