This document provides an overview of the course "AE8603/Composite Materials and Structures". The course is offered in the 4th/7th semester of the Aerospace Engineering program. It aims to teach students about analyzing composite laminates under different loading and environmental conditions. The course will be taught using blackboard, PowerPoint presentations, and NPTEL lectures. Upon completing the course, students will gain an understanding of composite mechanics, be able to analyze laminated composites, and understand composite manufacturing techniques. The course syllabus is divided into 5 units covering micromechanics, macromechanics, laminated plate theory, fabrication processes, and sandwich constructions.
