Q&A	InfraWorks

Q:	Are	there	any	tutorials	on	how	to	create	assemblies?
R:	This	should	do	the	trick!	http://help.autodesk.com/view/INFMDR/ENU/?guid=GUID-65A93AD6-DBE0-48B2-B5C2-84C779160C52

Q:	Is	the	team	working	on	the	auto	update	function	somehow?	Every	time	you	do	something	the	model	regenerate	itself	and	it	is	king	of
problem	in	big	models	…
R:	Some	of	the	performance	lag	you	see	on	Eric’s	screen	is	due	to	the	GoToWebinar	and	bandwidth.	There	are	many	tricks	you	can	do	in
InfraWorks on your own models to improve performance. Here is a blog with some good tips:
http://autodesk.typepad.com/bimagination/2015/12/best-practives-for-extra-large-models-in-infraworks-360.html

Q:	I	noticed	that	Eric	is	in	2019	…	Are	there	features	he	is	showing	here	that	are	not	in	2018?
R:	The	official	launch	of	Autodesk	InfraWorks	2019	is	not	yet	publicly	available.	I	expect	that	it	would	be	available	for	users	within	about	a	week’s
time,	but	unfortunately,	we	cannot	comment	on	2019	version	features	until	then!	Sorry	for	any	confusion.	I	think	that	be	‘Breezwood	2019’
(name	of	the	file)	in	his	model	title	may	be	a	bit	misleading.

Q:	This	is	probably	one	of	the	better	webinars	you	guys	have	held.	KUDOS,	nice	job,	and	thanks!
R:	Ya	Eric	is	doing	a	fantastic	job!	I	love	how	he’s	set	up	this	webinar	to	show	a	real-world	use	case	while	also	demonstrating	all	sorts	of	tips	and
tricks.	Thanks	Todd!

Q:	Is	there	many	changes	done	inside	IW	2019?
R:	I	cannot	provide	guarantees	of	specific	new	features	to	be	included	in	InfraWorks	2019	until	it	is	publicly	launched	(I	expect	it	to	be	available
within	about	a	week).	That	said,	I	can	say	that	we	are	very	excited	to	bring	you	some	awesome	upgrades	and	updates	in	the	2019	realase.

Q:	How	accurate	is	the	AIW	existing	terrain?
R:	The	Model	Builder	terrain	is	typically	sampled	at	2m/px	resolution	using	10-	or	30-	meter	DEMS.	However,	you	can	get	as	accurate	as	you
want,	if	you	have	the	high-resolution	data	to	bring	into	InfraWorks.

Q:	How	about	showing	bring	data	from	Civil	3D	into	InfraWorks?	Bring	the	final	design	back	from	Civil	3D	into	InfraWorks.
R:	Would	love	to	demo	this,	but	I	think	we’re	going	to	run	out	of	time.	We’re	actually	working	to	improve	this	workflow	you	mention	for	future
releases.	Stay	tuned	for	another	webcast	on	this	topic,	I’m	sure	we	can	get	something	like	this	on	Eric’s	list	of	upcoming	webinars.
