This document outlines strategies for effective adult learning. Preliminary strategies include setting learning outcomes, empowering learners, and fostering collaboration. Teaching strategies involve giving the big picture, relating material to experience, allowing debate and practice. General strategies throughout learning include learner decision making, dialogue, treating learners as adults and making learning fun. Effective adult teaching keeps lessons relevant, focuses on life experience, uses stories, breaks up information, provides feedback, and encourages questions.
