Adolescent suicides have increased in several US states during the COVID-19 pandemic. Suppose we are interested in investigating if an educational intervention increases the percentage of high school students seeking counseling services. We conducted a pilot study that involved assigning a sample of 311 students to an intervention group and a sample of 310 students to a traditional program. After a specified period, the number of students in each group who reported visiting a counseling service center in the previous three months was determined. Among the students assigned to the intervention group, 13 had visited a service center; among those receiving traditional programs, 22 had visited a service center. (1) For each group, estimate the proportion of students who had visited a counseling service center in the previous three months. (2) State your null and alternative hypothesis and level of significance. (3) Test your null hypothesis. Provide your calculations here. (4) Construct a 95% confidence interval for the difference. Interviews with Office of Alumni Affairs Staff
In order to prepare for the presentation of data and decide on data sources to be used for evaluation, interviews were conducted with The Director, Associate Director, and Supervisor of Student Interns. Key information was gleaned from each interview which will be briefly discussion. The first interview was with Tom Fitzgerald, Director. According to Tom, the overall goal is to improve the pledge rate at Binchley College by 6%. He shared there is an overall decline in contributions. Because these contributions are used to fund special programs, especially related to the college marine ecology and Native American studies degrees, it is critical that they increase. In this interview we discussed the biggest decline in contributions was from the alumni donors aged 55 and over. I asked the Director what he thought this decline could be attributed to. He provided several different possible explanations such as death, fixed income retirement, illness and that people in this age group may be helping children and grandchildren.
My next interview was with the Associate Director. We discussed a slight increase in last two years in the donations from middle-aged and younger alumni, especially graduates of the Native American program. The percentages of graduates from the program have increased, but that can’t be the only explanation for the improvement. She shared information about a small pilot program designed especially for graduates of the Native American program, and promising results. They were invited back for a long weekend to participate in current excavation projects and research associated with it. It has been a great social event and resulted in generating income from the tuition along with the participants donating to the college while at the event and again when the Office of Alumni Affairs solicits donations for specific needs of the research projects throughout the year.
The third and final interview was with the Student Intern Supervisor. Each of the individuals interviewed are graduates of Binchley College, so they clearly have a stake in making sure the college remains successful. The Student Intern Supervisor, Shelley, is a graduate with a major in Native American Studies. She worked on the pilot program with the Associate Director, Jesse which was mentioned earlier. In this interview, we talked further about the increases in donations from Native American Alumni. A key question was asked: Do you know if a survey of the alumni of the Native American program has been conducted to measure the effect of the blog and other forms of communication you’ve used has had on their willingness to donate? Shelley replied that they have not conducted a survey.

Early childhood education is one of the specialization areas that had its issues presented in Mayo Keller’s taskforce. As a member of the taskforce specializing in early childhood education, I will present to the taskforce programs that need improvement for the ultimate goal of advancing the sector. One program that need to be evaluated and improved for change is the enrollment program into early childhood education. The goal of the program is to increase enrollment and improve participation of young learners in early childhood education. The enrollment of children aged 3 to 5 years into early childhood education has significantly been declining in the Grand City area. The situation therefore calls for the stakeholders to look into the causes and solutions (Walden University, 2016). Parents, district education officers, mayor’s office, and early childhood educators are some of the stakeholders concerned with the program.

People's knowledge and attitudes towards COVID-19 play a crucial role in determining their readiness to accept behavioral changes recommended by health authorities. A study was conducted at Hospital Kudat to determine the knowledge levels and attitudes towards COVID-19 among patients. The study utilized a cross-sectional online survey of 101 patients between February 1st and 10th, 2023. The survey included demographic questions (Part A) and three checklists: knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to COVID-19 (Part B), and government control measures (Part C). The survey was administered using Google Forms as the survey instrument.

Haven Requirement & Sexual Assault Education Assessment
The purpose of this research was to evaluate whether or not the Cal Poly Dean of Students use of Haven, an online sexual assault learning module, is an effective tool to educate students on the topic of sexual assault. From our data, we discovered that while sexual assault is viewed as a true and serious threat in San Luis Obispo, very few respondents found value in the online course, Haven. Through both quantitative and qualitative research, the research team concluded that Cal Poly Dean of Student must find new ways to inform students about this topic. From our semi structured interviews, we gathered that students would be interested in choosing from a variety of classes to learn about sexual assault. Some suggestions for courses that could be provided include but are not limited to: a self defense class, an independent research project, and/or a group research project. By providing a number of ways to learn, it is likely that students will be more motivated by and interested in sexual assault.

1. What is your research question?
Does Reality TV influence perceive body image in the adolescent child?

3. Participants
To qualify as a participant in the study the age should range from eight years to sixteen years. Culturally, the study will use African American, Caucasian, and other racial backgrounds. I intend to use adolescents from the same socio-economic levels to attain reliability and validity with the current data analysis and collection for the study. I will use an audit trail and reflective journal to achieve a high degree of dependability.
4. Sampling technique
I will use a purposeful sample with the adequate number of adolescents to facilitate efficient and effective saturation of categories. Any negative case enhances validity since it demonstrates that the aspects of the analysis are less than obvious. Top improve transferability in the study I will use moderate populated schools in the samples that attract adolescents from multiple cultures, histories, and comparable socio-economic levels across the city.
5. What are the variables in your study?
Demographic data, race, body dissatisfaction, body image, ethnic background, socioeconomic status, media pressure, awareness, self-confidence, and internalization
6. Provide operational definitions for each variable.
The race will mention the cultural background of each participant. The awareness of body image and self-image begins to form at a young age. It is not clear whether the desire or pressure to become thin affects all adolescents equally. At the age of six, girls desire a thin body and use some types of diet to obtain low weight and thin body. Girls spend a lot of time watching television or magazines to focus on the appearance and use thin models.
Ethnically blacks interpret media influences from white or Hispanics. A majority of white participants indicate a desire to look at thin models shown in advertisements.
The media pressure will present one’s effect of media portrayal. There seems to be a consensus that the mass media does tend to influence one's perception of body image. Exposure of commercials that use thin models leads to higher levels of dissatisfaction with overall body image.

Changing The Social Context of Peer Victimization
The WITS Programs aim to reduce peer victimization through a comprehensive, community-based approach. Two evaluations found that rates of physical and relational victimization declined more in schools implementing WITS compared to control schools. Abstract
Background
During an influenza pandemic, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Preven-
tion (CDC) may recommend school closures. These closures could have unintended con-
sequences for students and their families. Publicly available social media could be
analyzed to identify the consequences of an unplanned school closure.
Methods
As a proxy for an unplanned, pandemic-related school closure, we used the district-wide
school closure due to the September 10–18, 2012 teachers’ strike in Chicago, Illinois. We
captured social media posts about the school closure using the Radian6 social media-mon-
itoring platform. An online workforce from Amazon Mechanical Turk categorized each post
into one of two groups. The first group included relevant posts that described the impact of
the closure on students and their families. The second group included irrelevant posts that
described the political aspects of the strike or topics unrelated to the school closure. All rele-
vant posts were further categorized as expressing a positive, negative, or neutral senti-
ment. We analyzed patterns of relevant posts and sentiment over time and compared our
findings to household surveys conducted after other unplanned school closures.
Results
We captured 4,546 social media posts about the district-wide school closure using our
search criteria. Of these, 930 (20%) were categorized as relevant by the online workforce.
Of the relevant posts, 619 (67%) expressed a negative sentiment, 51 (5%) expressed a
positive sentiment, and 260 (28%) were neutral. The number of relevant posts, and espe-
cially those with a negative sentiment, peaked on day 1 of the strike. Negative sentiment

Haven Requirement & Sexual Assault Education Assessment
The purpose of this research was to evaluate whether or not the Cal Poly Dean of Students use of Haven, an online sexual assault learning module, is an effective tool to educate students on the topic of sexual assault. From our data, we discovered that while sexual assault is viewed as a true and serious threat in San Luis Obispo, very few respondents found value in the online course, Haven. Through both quantitative and qualitative research, the research team concluded that Cal Poly Dean of Student must find new ways to inform students about this topic. From our semi structured interviews, we gathered that students would be interested in choosing from a variety of classes to learn about sexual assault. Some suggestions for courses that could be provided include but are not limited to: a self defense class, an independent research project, and/or a group research project. By providing a number of ways to learn, it is likely that students will be more motivated by and interested in sexual assault.

To qualify as a participant in the study the age should range from eight years to sixteen years. Culturally, the study will use African American, Caucasian, and other racial backgrounds. I intend to use adolescents from the same socio-economic levels to attain reliability and validity with the current data analysis and collection for the study. I will use an audit trail and reflective journal to achieve a high degree of dependability.
4. Sampling technique
I will use a purposeful sample with the adequate number of adolescents to facilitate efficient and effective saturation of categories. Any negative case enhances validity since it demonstrates that the aspects of the analysis are less than obvious. Top improve transferability in the study I will use moderate populated schools in the samples that attract adolescents from multiple cultures, histories, and comparable socio-economic levels across the city.

The race will mention the cultural background of each participant. The awareness of body image and self-image begins to form at a young age. It is not clear whether the desire or pressure to become thin affects all adolescents equally. At the age of six, girls desire a thin body and use some types of diet to obtain low weight and thin body. Girls spend a lot of time watching television or magazines to focus on the appearance and use thin models.
Ethnically blacks interpret media influences from white or Hispanics. A majority of white participants indicate a desire to look at thin models shown in advertisements.
The media pressure will present one’s effect of media portrayal. There seems to be a consensus that the mass media does tend to influence one's perception of body image. Exposure of commercials that use thin models leads to higher levels of dissatisfaction with overall body image.

Changing The Social Context of Peer Victimization
The WITS Programs aim to reduce peer victimization through a comprehensive, community-based approach. Two evaluations found that rates of physical and relational victimization declined more in schools implementing WITS compared to control schools. While initial victimization reports were higher in WITS schools, possibly due to increased awareness, peer support did not differ between groups. Teachers rated children in WITS schools as having higher social responsibility at each time point. Overall, WITS was found to effectively reduce peer victimization through involving community champions and consistently teaching peaceful conflict resolution across settings.
