Idealism believes that reality exists within the mind and that truth comes from consistency of ideas. It focuses on sharpening the mind in schools. Realism views reality as observable and truth as what can be sensed; it teaches factual information. Experimentalism sees reality as experience and truth as what works now; it uses schools to discover and solve problems. Existentialism defines reality and truth individually; its schools aid self-knowledge and free discussion. A combination of approaches may be best.
