_Ministry_Encounter #5_The Baptism of the Holy SpiritRohan Dredge
In this fifth stage in the ENCOUNTER series I teach on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. One of the most empowering experiences a Christian can have in their spiritual journey.
As I prepared and taught this, I was super mindful of the spectrum of beliefs and experiences around this topic. Even in my home Church we have a series of experiences that are quite different to one another.
That said, I’m convinced in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as an empowering experience available to believers so they are more useful and effective for Kingdom orientated ministry.
I also cover off on the topic of “speaking in other tongues” and how it is available to believers as an empowering and edifying discipline for our discipleship.
You’re invited to head into a deeper, more dynamic and empowered relationship with Jesus. The key is the personal spiritual revolution that comes from the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

“The Peace of God" - [Philippians 4:6-13] - Who does not desires to have peace? This world can be a cruel, harsh, troublesome place - a place of worry, anxiety, Stress, fear and terror . . . WE ALL WANT PEACE - - BUT - most are searching for it in all the wrong places and all the wrong ways. This study examines what the peace of God is, (real, lasting peace), in contrast with the pseudo peace offered by the world & how we can find & have this true peace.

Reflecting On Our Attitude Towards Scripture - Neh 8:1-12Don McClain
Do you really want to be pleasing to God? Do we REALLY care what God has said about how He wants us to serve and worship Him - or have we formed our own standards and expect God to accept it? Friend - our service and worship towards God must be according to His revealed standard if we are going to be pleasing to Him!
The first teaching in the series "Growing Deep in the Gospel". In this teaching we answer the question "Why is the Gospel Important?" by looking at Romans 1:16, several other Bible verses and quotes from pastors and Christian authors. Then in light of the importance of the gospel we look at what we should do with the gospel.

The Epistle to the Hebrews breaks new ground in the debate over religion and grace. In this talk we look at who wrote it, and what problem it is trying to solve - really important questions since it is such an alien book to us modern people in many ways. We delve into the book of Acts in detail and uncover the deep struggle between Jerusalem and Rome that defined the faith in its early days. And we find in the writer to the Hebrews, the man who arguably took over the baton of thought leadership in the early church from Paul and pushed the gospel to its natural boundaries far from the confining views of Jerusalem.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
6. To be a Christian is …..
to respond appropriately to
Jesus Christ.
7. Those who reject him
• Some are motivated by money
The believers had not ‘blasphemed’ this
goddess (19:37)
Sometimes it is a choice between following
Jesus and continuing as we are
Money prevents some from following Jesus
(Mark 10:21)
8. Those who reject him
• Some refused to believe (19:9)
They should have known the truth
They became hardened
9. Those who seek to use him
• In a society that valued sorcery, Jewish
practitioners were highly prised (8:9-24, 13:6-
11)
• Perhaps they thought the name of Jesus was
another weapon to be used
• The Old Testament has many examples of
those who sought to worship God and idols
• The evil spirits knew about Paul and the Lord
Jesus
• Jesus is the only Saviour
10. Those who want to know more
• These twelve disciples are much debated
• Were they disciples in the sense we would
understand the word?
• Were they like Apollos in that they knew ‘about’
Jesus?
• What is clear is that their understanding of Jesus
was limited
• They heard of Jesus and were baptised in his
name
• They received the Holy Spirit
11. Those who are changed
• The encounter with the evil spirits seems to
have been a ‘wake up call’
• “Continue to work out your salvation with fear
and trembling” (Philippians 2:12)
• Costly confession
• “Thus the Word of the Lord *concerning the
attainment through Christ of eternal salvation
in the kingdom of God] grew and spread and
intensified, prevailing mightily.” (19:20
Amplified Version)
12. Those who are faithful in trials
• A clear and present danger
“We were under great pressure, far beyond
our ability to endure, so that we despaired
even of life” (2 Corinthians 1:8)
“If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus”
(1 Corinthians 15:32)
“They risked their lives for me. Not only I
but all the churches of the Gentiles are
grateful to them.” (Romans 16:4)
13. Those who are faithful in trials
• The mob sought out Christians and found
Aristarchus from Thessalonica and Gaius from
Derbe (20:4)
• Aristarchus was later a fellow prisoner
(Colossians 4:10)
• If there was a mob seeking Christians today,
would they seize you or me?
14. Those who are faithful in trials
• “And so Jesus also suffered outside the city
gate to make the people holy through his own
blood. Let us, then, go to him outside the
camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.”
(Hebrews 13:12-13)
