disciples withdrew and were not walking with
Him anymore.
11. Acts 19:2, Receiving The Holy Spirit
• Acts 19:2…"Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you
believed?“…
• Paul expected that if the were saved they would have
receive the Holy Spirit
• They’re not saved yet, they believed but hadn’t
received;
• John 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who
believed in his name, he gave the right to become
children of God—
• . 2 Corinthians 11:4 For if one comes and preaches
another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you
receive a different spirit which you have not received,

• Acts 19:2…"Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you
believed?“…
• Mark 1:7-8 And this was his message: "After me will come
one more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I
am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I baptize you
with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
• John 1:30-31 This is the one I meant when I said, 'A man
who comes after me has surpassed me because he was
before me.' 31 I myself did not know him, but the reason I
came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed
to Israel."
• Rom 6:3 Or don't you know that all of us who were
baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
13. Acts 19:2, Receiving The Holy Spirit
• 1 Cor 10:2 They were all baptized into Moses
in the cloud and in the sea.
• 1 Cor 12:13 For we were all baptized by one
Spirit into one body — whether Jews or
Greeks, slave or free — and we were all given
the one Spirit to drink.
14. The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit
• The baptism of the Holy Spirit is not an add on to Christianity, or
some additional experience you should pursue. It is salvation! There
is only one Holy Spirit of God, and you cannot have just a part of
Him. When He, God, comes into your life, all of Him comes in!
• I Cor. 12:13 "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body . .
. we were all made to drink of one Spirit."
• I Cor. 6:17 "the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with
him."
• Eph. 4:4-6 "There is one body and one Spirit . . . one hope . . . one
Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God . . ."
• The baptism of the Holy Spirit is what brings believers into the body
of Christ., and seals us in Him. You cannot be saved and not be
baptized in the Spirit, that’s an oxymoron. In the Book of Acts
communication spread slowly into the world. Resulting in this
situation of obedient Jewish people who believe in God, obey His
commands, seek Him, yet had not heard that the Messiah had
come. Acts records the spread of the gospel.
15. The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit
• When told of the Messiah's cross and resurrection, and the
indwelling of the Holy Spirit these few people who lived both
before and after the cross, asked to receive the Holy Spirit.
• Acts 19:2-6 "and he said to them, 'Did you receive the Holy Spirit
when you believed?' And they said to him, 'No, we have not even
heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.' And Paul said, 'John baptized
with the baptism of repentance, telling people to believe in Him
who was coming after him, that is, Jesus.' And when they heard
this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when
Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on (“epi”)
them . . ." (see also Acts 18:24-26).
• At salvation the Holy Spirit comes into a believer’s life (all of Him).
There is no second or additional baptism. You'll never get more or
less of God.
• Gal. 3:3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now
being perfected by the flesh?”

27. Acts 19:20, The Word Was Growing
• . Acts 19:20 So the word of the Lord was
growing mightily and prevailing.
• Anything that grows is alive! Anything that “was
growing” was alive.
• . Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and
active and sharper than any two-edged sword,
and piercing as far as the division of soul and
spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to
judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

• . Acts 19:21 Now after these things were
finished, Paul purposed in the spirit to go to
Jerusalem after he had passed through
Macedonia and Achaia, saying, "After I have
been there, I must also see Rome.“
• Paul is not just sitting around waiting for God
to do something.
• You can’t steer a stationary boat.
• So, “purposed in the spirit to go” then GO!
29. Acts 19:21, Paul Rome
• . Acts 19:21 …"After I have been there, I
must also see Rome."
