Paul arrives in Ephesus and finds some disciples who had not received the Holy Spirit. He baptizes them in Jesus' name and lays hands on them so they receive the Holy Spirit. Some Jews try to invoke Jesus' name in exorcisms but are rebuked by demons. Paul teaches in the school of Tyrannus for two years and many miracles are performed through him. When some become hardened against the gospel, Paul withdraws and reasons daily. Demetrius stirs up a riot against Paul in the theater, accusing him of threatening the cult of Artemis.

Unfortunately, at times even a church can condone sexual immorality. It happens every day now as churches redefine and explain away God's definition of marriage. In his letter to the church of Thyatira, Jesus tells us how seriously he views us calling sin simply "alternative" or "acceptable" or "tolerant" views. In particular, pornography is destroying nations.
Psalms book 1: David's first book of PsalmsMichael Scaman
A short look at the themes in the book and how Jesus is seen in the book. The New Testament says the law presents in a sense pictures of heavenly realities and there is provision for a King in the law so it should be no surprise if the King of Kings is portrayed using the life of David ( as well as other kings)
Book 1 tends to have psalms that are personal in nature.
Additionally often Book 1 is taken as poetically like Genesis and has themes
concerning man and the blessed man in particular.
We concentrate on the flow, themes and connections themes to theme.
Journey Through The Bible: Isaiah Part 1- Crisis and FaithResurrection Church
Isaiah was one of the greatest prophets of the Bible. Part One looks at the prophetic process, how do prophets communicate God's messages. During Isaiah's life time Judah faced military and moral crises in which they had to choose between obedience to God's word proclaimed by Isaiah or reliance on strategic alliances.

Many of us have an endless list of questions when it comes to Bible prophecy. It is quite possible that the more we study, the more confusing it all becomes. Taken from Dr. Jeremiah's "Answers to the Unsolved Mysteries of Prophecy" booklet, these charts will help you navigate through end-times prophecy and will answer your questions about the final days of this world.

Here is my attempt to explain in short fashion what the Bible has to tell us about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, complete with my own short testimony of who God “zapped” me in as a Marine Lieutenant in Japan in 1973. God wants to fill us all again and again with His Spirit so we can be powerful and fruitful witnesses for Him here and around the world.
Pray for God to fill you again and to baptize you with His Spirit if you have never experienced that.
To be baptized in the Holy Spirit is a wonderful, rewarding, powerful experience. The Holy Spirit gives us supernatural gifts to make us more effective in spreading the Gospel. Be very careful that you don't quench the Spirit.

_Ministry_Encounter #5_The Baptism of the Holy SpiritRohan Dredge
In this fifth stage in the ENCOUNTER series I teach on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. One of the most empowering experiences a Christian can have in their spiritual journey.
As I prepared and taught this, I was super mindful of the spectrum of beliefs and experiences around this topic. Even in my home Church we have a series of experiences that are quite different to one another.
That said, I’m convinced in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as an empowering experience available to believers so they are more useful and effective for Kingdom orientated ministry.
I also cover off on the topic of “speaking in other tongues” and how it is available to believers as an empowering and edifying discipline for our discipleship.
You’re invited to head into a deeper, more dynamic and empowered relationship with Jesus. The key is the personal spiritual revolution that comes from the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Our beloved Bishop, Brother Itse Enonuya admonished and encouraged the congregation to grow her interest in the work of evangelism.
He asked this key question: What makes an evangelistic congregation?
In Summary:
1. An evangelistic congregation is one committed to pleasing their Lord,
2. An evangelistic congregation is one that is committed to a spiritual relationship with Jehovah God.
3. An evangelistic congregation is one that is completely committed to the concept of reaching out to the lost.
4. An evangelistic congregation is one that is balanced in reaching out to the lost.

Sermon based on Lectionary readings for the 3rd Sunday in Epiphany: Isaiah 9:1-4; 1 Corinthians 1:10-18; and Matthew 4:12-23.
The main idea was to explore the epiphany of how God has selected us to be His emissaries/ambassadors and what that means for us as a community of faith.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

5. Acts 18:23, Started the 3rd.
Missionary Journey
• Acts 18:23 After spending some time in
Antioch, Paul set out from there and traveled
from place to place throughout the region of
Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the
disciples.
9. Acts 19:1, Paul Came To Ephesus
• NAU Acts 19:1 It happened that while Apollos was
at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper
country and came to Ephesus, and found some
disciples.
• 2 teams again
• 3101 μαθητής mathetes {math-ay-tes'}
• Meaning: 1) a learner, pupil, disciple…
• NAU John 6:66 As a result of this many of His
disciples withdrew and were not walking with
Him anymore.
10. Acts 19:2, Receiving The Holy Spirit
• Acts 19:2…"Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you
believed?“…
• Paul expected that if the were saved they would have
receive the Holy Spirit
• They’re not saved yet, they believed but hadn’t
received;
• John 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who
believed in his name, he gave the right to become
children of God—
• NAU 2 Corinthians 11:4 For if one comes and preaches
another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you
receive a different spirit which you have not received,
or a different gospel which you have not accepted…
11. Acts 19:2, Receiving The Holy Spirit
• Acts 19:2…"Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you
believed?“…
• Mark 1:7-8 And this was his message: "After me will come
one more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I
am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I baptize you
with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
• John 1:30-31 This is the one I meant when I said, 'A man
who comes after me has surpassed me because he was
before me.' 31 I myself did not know him, but the reason I
came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed
to Israel."
• Rom 6:3 Or don't you know that all of us who were
baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
12. Acts 19:2, Receiving The Holy Spirit
• 1 Cor 10:2 They were all baptized into Moses
in the cloud and in the sea.
• 1 Cor 12:13 For we were all baptized by one
Spirit into one body — whether Jews or
Greeks, slave or free — and we were all given
the one Spirit to drink.
13. The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit
• The baptism of the Holy Spirit is not an add on to Christianity, or
some additional experience you should pursue. It is salvation! There
is only one Holy Spirit of God, and you cannot have just a part of
Him. When He, God, comes into your life, all of Him comes in!
• I Cor. 12:13 "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body . .
. we were all made to drink of one Spirit."
• I Cor. 6:17 "the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with
him."
• Eph. 4:4-6 "There is one body and one Spirit . . . one hope . . . one
Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God . . ."
• The baptism of the Holy Spirit is what brings believers into the body
of Christ., and seals us in Him. You cannot be saved and not be
baptized in the Spirit, that’s an oxymoron. In the Book of Acts
communication spread slowly into the world. Resulting in this
situation of obedient Jewish people who believe in God, obey His
commands, seek Him, yet had not heard that the Messiah had
come. Acts records the spread of the gospel.
14. The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit
• When told of the Messiah's cross and resurrection, and the
indwelling of the Holy Spirit these few people who lived both
before and after the cross, asked to receive the Holy Spirit.
• Acts 19:2-6 "and he said to them, 'Did you receive the Holy Spirit
when you believed?' And they said to him, 'No, we have not even
heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.' And Paul said, 'John baptized
with the baptism of repentance, telling people to believe in Him
who was coming after him, that is, Jesus.' And when they heard
this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when
Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on (“epi”)
them . . ." (see also Acts 18:24-26).
• At salvation the Holy Spirit comes into a believer’s life (all of Him).
There is no second or additional baptism. You'll never get more or
less of God.
• Gal. 3:3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now
being perfected by the flesh?”
15. Acts 19:6, A Holy Spirit Question
gracethrufaith.com
• Q. I have question involving the receiving the Holy Spirit…
• A. In John 20:22 the disciples became the first to receive
the Holy Spirit who Paul said would be given to all believers
as a deposit guaranteeing their inheritance (Ephesians
1:13-14). Earlier, John had explained that this would begin
to happen following the Lord’s death and resurrection
(John 7:37-39). In Acts 2 the Holy Spirit came upon the
disciples in power, enabling them to speak to the crowd
assembled there in a way that allowed everyone to
understand them in his own language. Some scholars call
this an “epi” experience after the Greek word that means
“to come upon”. It’s a temporary manifestation of the Holy
Spirit that enables the recipient to perform a supernatural
act, often as a sign to others. Similar “epi” experiences are
mentioned in Acts 10:44-46 and Acts 19:6.

Some Were Becoming Hardened
• NAU Acts 19:9 But when some were becoming hardened and
disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the people, he
withdrew from them and took away the disciples,
reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.
• The hardening of the heart is a process; “some were
becoming hardened.”
• George Whitefield said, “If you are going to walk with Jesus
Christ, you are going to be opposed.... In our days, to be a
true Christian is really to become a scandal.”
• --George Whitefield (English preacher who proved to be
one of the vessels used by God in the Great Awakening)

20. Acts 19:11-12,
Dirty Handkerchiefs And Aprons

which workmen and servants were accustomed to
wear
21. Acts 19:13 Some Jews Invoking Jesus
• Acts 19:13 Some Jews who went around driving
out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the
Lord Jesus….
• Results in; Acts 19:17…the Jews and Greeks living
in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear, and the
name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor.
• Sometimes we are afraid to invoke the name of
Jesus, for fear of offending, but;
• Acts 19:20…the word of the Lord spread widely
and grew in power.
22. Acts 19:15, I Recognize Jesus
• NAU Acts 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and
said to them, "I recognize Jesus, and I know about
Paul, but who are you?”
• NAU Luke 8:28 Seeing Jesus, he cried out and fell
before Him, and said in a loud voice, "What
business do we have with each other, Jesus, Son
of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment
me.“ (Mark 5:7, Acts 16:17)
• NAU James 2:19 You believe that God is one. You
do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.
24. Acts 19:19, The Value Of Drachmas
• Acts 19:19…When they calculated the value of the scrolls,
the total came to fifty thousand drachmas.
• NIV Note “d” A drachma was a silver coin worth about a
day's wages.
• 50,000 / 365= 137 yrs
• <694> ἀργύριον argurion, Meaning: silvery, by ext. a piece
of silver…Usage: money(10), pieces of silver(6), silver(5).
• Notes: 1 Probably fifty thousand Greek drachmas; a
drachma approximated a day's wage…Luke 15:8
• Wal/Zuck say “The word translated drachmas is actually
argyriou and simply means "silver"; consequently the value
of the coins is unknown. But 50,000 silver coins was a large
sum.”
• 50,000 / $.10 pre 1965 silver coin = $5000 face value
• Think; “They burnt their computers.” That’s closer (DLK).
25. Acts 19:19, The Value Of Drachmas
• Net Bible Notes say, “65 tn Or "fifty thousand
silver drachmas" (about $10,000 US dollars).
BDAG 128 s.v. ἀργύριον 2.c states, "ἀργυρίου
μυριάδας πέντε 50,000 (Attic silver) drachmas Ac
19:19." Another way to express the value would
be in sheep: One drachma could buy one sheep.
So this many drachmas could purchase a huge
flock of sheep. A drachma also equals a denarius,
or a day's wage for the average worker. So this
amount would be equal to 50,000 work days or in
excess of 8,300 weeks of labor…”
28. Acts 19:20, The Word Was Growing
• NAU Acts 19:20 So the word of the Lord was
growing mightily and prevailing.
• Anything that grows is alive! Anything that “was
growing” was alive.
• NAU Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living
and active and sharper than any two-edged
sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul
and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to
judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
29. Acts 19:21, Paul Rome
• NAU Acts 19:21 Now after these things were
finished, Paul purposed in the spirit to go to
Jerusalem after he had passed through
Macedonia and Achaia, saying, "After I have
been there, I must also see Rome.“
• Paul is not just sitting around waiting for God
to do something.
• You can’t steer a stationary boat.
• So, “purposed in the spirit to go” then GO!
30. Acts 19:21, Paul Rome
• NAU Acts 19:21 …"After I have been there, I

and they rushed with one accord into the theater,
dragging along Gaius and Aristarchus, Paul's traveling
companions from Macedonia.
• This is not the only automobile mentioned in Scripture
• Deuteronomy 3:18 …valiant…

36. Ephesus Theater
• Asia Minor: Ephesus, Theater & street ruins
• The Theater at Ephesus was able to seat up to
25,000 spectators. It was completed in its
present form under Trajan. It was here in A.D.
57 that Demetrius' protest against the Apostle
Paul took place in which the Ephesians cried
out for two hours, "great is Diana of the
Ephesians".
