Their team of trained carers provide support and assistance to clients in their homes throughout Dublin and now in a further bid to keep communities healthy the Be Independent Nurse Managers have been delivering complimentary Winter Wellness presentations to interested groups throughout Dublin.
The presentations are free of charge and cover a variety of Health & Wellness topics such as exercise and diet and focus on how older people particularly can stay healthy and fit during the Winter Months. So far the presentations have been delivered to various Active Retirement Clubs, Carer Association’s, and the ICA (Irish Countrywomen's Association). The presentations which are delivered by Registered General Nurses have been extremely well received.
The Honey Foundation provided gifts to Phoenix Children's Hospital's H.O.T. program to help fight obesity through kindness. The lead doctor noted that positive experiences are a leading factor in weight loss and lifestyle changes. Acts of kindness can strengthen the immune system, increase energy, lower heart rate, and make people feel happier and healthier overall by helping them live longer and make better choices. The document encourages performing physical activities that are new, like biking, swimming, or joining a team, to care for oneself and better help others through kindness.
While in India after meeting with the head of the Nutrition Board they asked me speak to groups of community health trainings. Women from around the country gather to become trainers on health and nutrition and begin field work throughout the country. It was a fantastic experience and enjoyed the amazing women I was able to meet making a difference.
