This document discusses three main types of endocytosis: phagocytosis, pinocytosis, and receptor-mediated endocytosis. Phagocytosis allows immune cells to rid the body of bacteria and other harmful substances by internalizing and degrading solid particles. Pinocytosis involves the internalization of fluids and dissolved nutrients through small vesicles. Receptor-mediated endocytosis uses membrane receptors to internalize specific molecules, forming clathrin-coated pits and vesicles that deliver cargo to the cell's interior.
