1. Move to breakout
rooms to debrief
using page 3 of
the handout
2. After the debrief,
each school team
will have work
time to talk thru
the 3 Faces
using pages 4-5 of
the handout
Before We Begin
1. Audience Role: Follow along and make notes
on page 3 of handout. You will use these notes
in the debriefing
2. Please appreciate the team doing the Fish
Bowl
3. Understand that this is not rehearsed, so the
team may have quick answers for some
questions and may need more time afterward
to continue processing and answering the
questions.

• Please move with your team to your assigned
breakout room
• WMU facilitators will be in each breakout
room to lead the debriefing conversations
• Use page 3 of the handout for the debriefing
conversation
Time to work with your school team
• Tomorrow morning: After breakfast, the morning
is yours to work together
• Please use pages 4-5 of the handout to guide
your team in applying what you saw in the Fish
Bowl to one or more of the renewal activities or
initiatives for your school. This work will help you
prepare for next school year.
• In the Fall, we will continue the work on High
Fidelity and Integrity Implementation looking at
other aspects

  • 1. Implementing School Renewal Initiatives With Integrity An ACL Fish Bowl Session Featuring: The Team from Oriole Park Elementary Wyoming Public Schools
  • 2. The Many Faces of Implementation Integrity Is the strategy or initiative The Right Work at the Right Time for your school? How do you know? Student Background Data School Process Data Student Achievement Other Student Data Perception Data
  • 3. The Three Faces for Today’s Work Face 1: Who will your Renewal work impact and how? Improve or Otherwise Change: Performance Perception Behavior Conditions Climate/Culture Participation, etc.
  • 4. The Three Faces for Today’s Work Face 2: How will you Measure the intended impact? • Academic Measures • Behavioral Measures • Health Measures • Safety, Security, and other Well Being Measures • Participation Measures • Other Non-Cognitive Measures: e.g. motivation, character, GRIT, leadership, persistence, efficacy, confidence, etc.
  • 5. The Three Faces for Today’s Work Face 3: Who will need to play a role in the implementation? What role will they play? What are the Vital Behaviors for each role? (Grenny, et al., 2013)? How will you monitor that the vital behaviors are happening as needed to achieve implementation?
  • 6. The Fish Bowl In this activity, the team from Wyoming H.S. and I will talk through all three of the issues that influence implementation Fidelity and Integrity
  • 7. After the Fish Bowl We will do 2 Things: 1. Move to breakout rooms to debrief using page 3 of the handout 2. After the debrief, each school team will have work time to talk thru the 3 Faces using pages 4-5 of the handout
  • 8. Before We Begin 1. Audience Role: Follow along and make notes on page 3 of handout. You will use these notes in the debriefing 2. Please appreciate the team doing the Fish Bowl 3. Understand that this is not rehearsed, so the team may have quick answers for some questions and may need more time afterward to continue processing and answering the questions.
  • 9. Fish Bowl Conversation Part 1 1. The Renewal Activity or Initiative 2. How we know it is the Right Work at the Right Time for our school 3. The Impact We Want: a. On Who? b. What kind of impact?
  • 10. Time For Audience Processing Please stand in place and talk with 1-2 others • What caught your attention in the way the Wyoming team described the impact they want to make?
  • 11. Fish Bowl Conversation Part 2 1. How we will measure the impact we want to make with our renewal activity or initiative: Our long-term goal and measures 2. How we will benchmark our progress: Our progress monitoring benchmark goals and measures
  • 12. Time For Audience Processing Think about the ideas the Wyoming team discussed for measuring impact: • On the back of your handout, write down any measures you think might be appropriate for your school’s renewal work. • Share what you wrote down quickly with one other person near you.
  • 13. Fish Bowl Conversation Part 3 1. Who will play a role in the implementation? 2. What role will they play? 3. What are the Vital Behaviors for each role? 4. How we will monitor that the vital behaviors are happening as needed to achieve implementation?
  • 14. Time For Audience Processing Think about the following questions and make notes on your thinking on the back of the handout: • How would you know what the Vital Behaviors are for implementing your school’s renewal activities or initiatives? • How would you monitor those behaviors?
  • 15. Time To Debrief The Fish Bowl • There are four breakout rooms • Please move with your team to your assigned breakout room • WMU facilitators will be in each breakout room to lead the debriefing conversations • Use page 3 of the handout for the debriefing conversation
  • 16. Time to work with your school team • Tomorrow morning: After breakfast, the morning is yours to work together • Please use pages 4-5 of the handout to guide your team in applying what you saw in the Fish Bowl to one or more of the renewal activities or initiatives for your school. This work will help you prepare for next school year. • In the Fall, we will continue the work on High Fidelity and Integrity Implementation looking at other aspects
