you feel comfort and safety. What

Life is valuable. Which is why as humans, we do
everything to protect it and keep our lives safe
against any untoward incidents or accidents that may
lead to injury or even death. There’s
no harm in keeping oneself safe.
What is the importance of being safe?
Discussion of Concepts
At school:
•Speak to someone you trust at home or school about
what’s going on. Together you can figure out a way to
deal with it.
•Don’t let what’s happening affect how you feel about
yourself. Write down of all the good things you like
about yourself to stay positive.
I don’t feel safe in my environment. What should I do?
At home:
• Home should be a place where you
always feel safe and cared-for. Many
young people feel their only option is to
run away. But this isn’t the answer to
your problems and can often lead to
more problems. If you feel unsafe or
unhappy at home it is important you get
support as soon as possible.
At the streets:
• Walk with another person whenever
possible. It’s important that you’re aware of
your surroundings – look up and down the
street on both sides and even behind you.
• Don’t fight with someone who tries to take
your belongings. If an unfamiliar person
grabs your purse or bag, just let go and do
NOT struggle with them. If you fight, you risk
getting hurt.
Discussion of Concepts
1) Remind yourself that nothing is wrong with you.
2) Breathing, moving, chanting, yoga, qigong,
massage, dancing - these are all ways that you
can make your body feel safe.
Once your body feels safe, you can allow yourself to
slowly go to experiences from the past that caused
the body to be put into a traumatic state.
I don’t feel safe wit my body. What should I do?
Developing Mastery
The most important thing you need to know
to help feel physically safe is to stay out of
harm's way and find people who can help.
In case of emotional or physical safety, tell
an adult you trust (at home or at school).

environment?

  • 3. Motivation Safe Animal Activity Today, we are going to draw! Imagine you are in your home, and you come upon an animal that makes you feel comfort and safety. What would that animal be?
  • 4. Motivation Safe Animal Activity • After drawing give his/her name . • Draw a habitat for their safe animal — where will the animal live?
  • 5. Motivation Safe Animal Activity • Tell us the story of your animal. What is his/her name? • Tell us the contents of their safe place that you’ve built.
  • 6. Discussion of Concepts Life is valuable. Which is why as humans, we do everything to protect it and keep our lives safe against any untoward incidents or accidents that may lead to injury or even death. There’s no harm in keeping oneself safe. What is the importance of being safe?
  • 7. Discussion of Concepts At school: •Speak to someone you trust at home or school about what’s going on. Together you can figure out a way to deal with it. •Don’t let what’s happening affect how you feel about yourself. Write down of all the good things you like about yourself to stay positive. I don’t feel safe in my environment. What should I do?
  • 8. At home: • Home should be a place where you always feel safe and cared-for. Many young people feel their only option is to run away. But this isn’t the answer to your problems and can often lead to more problems. If you feel unsafe or unhappy at home it is important you get support as soon as possible.
  • 9. At the streets: • Walk with another person whenever possible. It’s important that you’re aware of your surroundings – look up and down the street on both sides and even behind you. • Don’t fight with someone who tries to take your belongings. If an unfamiliar person grabs your purse or bag, just let go and do NOT struggle with them. If you fight, you risk getting hurt.
  • 10. Discussion of Concepts 1) Remind yourself that nothing is wrong with you. 2) Breathing, moving, chanting, yoga, qigong, massage, dancing - these are all ways that you can make your body feel safe. Once your body feels safe, you can allow yourself to slowly go to experiences from the past that caused the body to be put into a traumatic state. I don’t feel safe wit my body. What should I do?
  • 11. Developing Mastery The most important thing you need to know to help feel physically safe is to stay out of harm's way and find people who can help. In case of emotional or physical safety, tell an adult you trust (at home or at school).
  • 12. Evaluation How do you feel about yourself right now? Do you feel safe in yourself and environment?
