ACCION USA is a nonprofit organization that provides microloans and financial education to low-to-moderate income entrepreneurs in the United States. It was established in 1991 as a pilot program in Brooklyn and has since expanded nationwide. ACCION USA aims to empower entrepreneurs, many of whom are minorities and women, by giving them access to capital to grow their businesses and support their families and communities. The average ACCION USA loan is $6,000 and over 90% of loans are repaid. There are an estimated 22 million microbusinesses in the US owned by entrepreneurs who could benefit from access to affordable credit.
