The Maro-Cerro Gordo cliffs are a 12 square kilometer protected natural area located between Granada and Malaga provinces in Spain. The cliffs and ravines are home to diverse marine life including sponges, corals, anemones, echinoderms, octopuses, crabs, and fish. Terrestrial vegetation has been reduced by human activity but remaining plants include oak groves, lentisks, wild jasmine, Kermes oak, prickly pear, Jerusalem pine, thyme, and bush lavender adapted to the cliff habitat.

It is a protected natural area of about twelve square
kilometers, with a very rocky coast, located between the
provinces of Granada and Malaga (Spain).
This is the area of cliffs and ravines between the towns
of La Herradura (Granada) and Nerja (Málaga), with very
significant spaces such as small coves surrounded by
cliffs over the sea.

Under the sea: Rocky outcrops, caves and
cavities have become spaces for the breeding
of numerous species, as well as a refuge from
the pollution that threatens other areas of the
Andalusian Mediterranean coast.
Invertebrates: There are a large number of
invertebrates such as sponges, corals,
anemones, echinoderms.

vegetation to be located in
small points and that would be
groves of oaks with Kermes
oaks, oil lamps, lentisks, etc.
In the cliff areas we find
species adapted to these
habitats such as the marine
daisy and the sea fennel.
